Quick lunch on our anniversary. Service was excellent for only having one waitstaff. The lunch combos is the best deal. Everything was very fresh and I really enjoyed the sushi. They have great rice! The tonkatsu looked dry but it wasn't. Juicy and delicious. The ice cream was also creamy and a nice finish. We would go again.
Came here for date night and had such a great experience. My boyfriend and I had been to Ginza Sushi's previous location a handful of times before they relocated. They only moved about a block away, but the difference is noticeable in the best way! The new Ward location is really nice and feels like a huge upgrade. They've definitely elevated the look and feel of the space. It feels more polished and modern, yet the prices are about the same and the quality has always been top tier. I was also pleasantly surprised by the crowd. There were people dining solo, families, and couples, which made the atmosphere feel comfortable and welcoming for everyone. We started with the scallops butteryaki, which were cooked perfectly. For our mains, we ordered two teishoku sets. I got the spicy ahi with butterfish misoyaki, and my boyfriend got the chicken katsu with spicy ahi. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the teishoku sets came with miso soup, salad, and edamame. They also came with dessert, which was such a nice touch. I had the matcha ice cream, and my boyfriend had the sherbet. The staff was really nice and attentive throughout our meal. Russell, the owner, was also around making conversation with customers. He's a cool guy, and it was great to see how hands-on and personable he is. Overall, it was an amazing meal and experience. We can't wait to come back!
Putting Ginza and Sushi together has a high standard. So does this restaurant being called Ginza Sushi live up to those standards? Definitely not. None can. In Hawai'i? Average. This place is located in Kaka'ako, along Kamakee, near L&L. Can in the Whole Foods or Ward Theatres parking lots. Inside is very basic and casual. Menu is your typical Japanese sushi menu items. The Fried Calamari ($15) was good. Tender, nicely seasoned and battered with a tasty aioli sauce with a nice spice kick. Chicken Karaage ($15) was okay. Much smaller, popcorn to nugget size pieces. Result was over-battered and dry chicken. However, it was fried and seasoned well with a tasty aioli sauce. The Hamachi Lover set was all right ($33). It came with 4 piece sashimi, 4 piece nigiri, and 6 piece hosomaki. Could be presented better. Hamachi was good, typical quality. The Combo sets is a good way to try different items. Server noted the serving portion is the same as Ala Carte. The Mixed Tempura was a pass ($15). Came with shrimp, sweet potato, zucchini, pumpkin, etc. Shrimp was over battered, rest was not battered well. Nothing was seasoned, so relied on the sauce for any taste. Unagi was okay ($17). It just ate and tasted like it was just nuked to temp with bonito flakes thrown on top. The Butterfish Misoyaki ($18) was fine. Lacked miso flavor and umami. Prime Rib Eye with Sautéed Mushroom ($40 total) was not worth it at all. Cooked unevenly, zero char, no noticeable sear with the sauce covering everything. The mushroom and onions didn't seem like they were sautéed at all. Onions were still white and on the firm side. Miso soup was per usual. Overall, an okay experience. Something you can find any where else, but perhaps with better prices and more generous portions. Service was good. Attentive and friendly. Everything tasted fine, but the preparation and plating was on the lackadaisical side. That doesn't make you feel you'd want to come back.
Ginza Sushi was originally at the Ward Centre before moving to a new location across Merriman next to the L&L Drive Inn. I've been to the old location years ago with a coworker during lunch hour. I remembered it was slow and dark inside. Ward Centre has a new owner and soon the businesses there will close due to upcoming building of the new condominiums. Perhaps they found a new location a bit sooner than the other businesses at Ward Center. I really thought the former Menchako-tei restaurant on Keeaumoku St was planning to move here instead , but I see they have a Fort St Mall restaurant called Tonkatsu Sanji! Too bad they are only opened on weekdays. Getting back to Ginza Sushi, it's still Ginza Sushi but on the sign as I was driving by, Ginza is all you see but in smaller print, the word Sushi is there! The new restaurant is nicer modern Japanese restaurant. Glass front doors and wall, but it's a larger space with more seating. Prices not as comparable to some other Japanese restaurants as my first choice, but expected in this new Ward location. A nice place to get together with family or friends. Ginza Sushi offers sushi, donburi, udon, soba, kids sets, & lunch sets. The signature combos' price depends on what your choices are. They also have appetizers, sides, hosomaki, & sashimi plus more! I was in the rush during my lunch hour and decided on ordering the donburi and I didn't have to wait long. Piping hot and made so fast. Service was good. For a little more, you can have a teishoku with soup and salad. I got the chicken karaage donburi with 7-8 fried chicken morsels. The chicken was drizzled with mayo, furikake, and I believe kabayaki sauce served on rice. The flavor came from the sauce than the chicken. There was some pickled cucumbers on the side. Nice for take out if you don't need, salad & miso soup for a dollar more as you would get for one choice lunch A set. I noticed for dinner, the teishoku or the signature combo of 2-3 choices comes with ice cream. Check out their new location!
I love sushi but I never get the chance to try a lot of places. I honestly usually go to Genki if I'm not super hungry and Kan if I want AYCE. I decided to finally go out of my usual choices and try Ginza out. Ginza is located in the main ward building (the one with the theater), on the side, between Men's Warehouse and L&L. We got seated fairly quickly and was given water. Upon ordering we were also given edamame to nom on while we waited. We also decided to order two rolls, an AAB combo set to try a variety of things and fried calamari for food measure. We got: * Jen's Paradise: 9.7/10, heavily recommend. I was really craving sear salmon and it definitely helped to satisfy that craving. I didn't realize that the roll part itself ONLY has shrimp tempura within the nori (no crab salad, avo, etc). * Bomb: 8/10, clearly I lacked my reading comprehension skills this day because I didn't realize that this was baked... so when it came out and the entire roll was fully cooked I was heart broken. It tasted good, just not what I particular want at a sushi restaurant. * Chicken Karaage: 5/10. I do NOT recommend this. They remined me of mochiko chicken, but these were not very meaty or flavorful. * Fried Calamari: 10/10, fried to perfectly in my opinion, each piece was plump and delicious. * Miso Butterfish: 8.9/10, it was good, flaky and flavorful. Just not something I would order again, but it was good to try esp it is something they're supposedly known for. * Mixed Tempura: 10/10, yum I love mixed tempura, no notes, it was hot and crunchy. I would like to mention that our wait was quite long. I don't know why because they weren't like SUPER busy. It took 10-15 for us to get the miso soup and salad for the combo. +5 for the calamari, +5 for the first roll then a few minutes after for the rest. I feel like 15-20 minutes for our first actual item (calamari) to come is kind of crazy, it kept being brought to the wrong table (2-3 times). Our server apologized so its not a huge deal. Otherwise, I still enjoyed our experience. I would definitely come back again to try the rolls I would enjoy more (utilizing my reading skills a bit better LOL).
Ginza Sushi has been on my bucket list for quite some time now, and I saw an opportunity to give them a try at their new location through their participation in Taste of Ward event offering BOGO 50% OFF on their rolled sushi. Their new location is aesthetic and has more open space than their previous location. But with a new location came a revamped menu--there were more "cooked" rolls than I remember, but then again, I last dined in Ginza back in 2021. This 3-star rating is based solely on their food. Their rolls are certainly creative and fun, but that also meant that not all of them hit the mark. PARADISE ROLL ($20) [4.5/5] - baked shrimp tempura and freshwater lobster roll. This was my favorite roll of the night, I never had freshwater lobster before, but I liked the bouncy (but not rubbery) texture. It kinda tasted like a sushi bake. MOANA ROLL ($19) [3.5/5] - spicy ahi cucumber roll with unagi and avocado. This was a classic roll, the ahi did not taste particularly fresh but it was not bad. ALOHA ROLL ($18) [1/5] - seared salmon with avocado, cucumber, and tobiko. I was disappointed that they used store-bought tempura flakes (tenkatsu) when they (presumably) batter and fry their tempura in-house. The salmon was fishy, and the size of the salmon throughout the roll was very inconsistent. I will attest that their portions for the rolls are pretty big though--we were full eating 1.5 rolls each.
Come to greet Ginza on their new re-grand opening in the new location. Absolutely clean and beautiful inside. Nice and spacious! We definitely want to dine-in next time. The staff is always friendly and ready to work. We always did take out at the other location but this location has a lot more seating now. So we definitely will check it out! We are glad for the new upgrade. Highly recommend checking them out at Wards!
First time here and decided to check it out for lunch. We ordered the Ginza Special, Avenger, Aloha rolls. While everything was tasty, the Ginza Special was definitely our favorite, and the other rolls were good but nothing special. However, presentation on the rolls was 10/10. The inside is a cute spot and the woman working was so friendly and attentive. Nice spot.
Ginza Sushi is in Ward, recently moved to a new spot between the L&L and the Men's Warehouse. We live nearby and have always wanted to try it, so we finally did. The interior is absolutely beautiful: modern Japanese chic, warm lighting, wood slatted panel walls, and a clean aesthetic We ordered the hamachi collar, a specialty roll, and a salmon avocado roll. Total was $53 before tax and tip. The food was good, but it wasn't anything special. It's priced as if the food is exceptionally elevated or special, and it's not Service was okay to good, also nothing special. Nothing was wrong with Ginza Sushi, but I wouldn't come back. At these prices, I need at least one standout detail, and I didn't find one
My bf and I came here for dinner on a Sunday. It wasn't too busy and we were able to get a table rather fast. The staff were friendly. Both of us got the "create your own combo." I got the chicken karaage, cold soba, and unagi kabayaki. The chicken pieces were fairly big and tasted good with the sauce and cabbage. I'd never had cold soba before and I wanted to try it, but I wasn't really a fan. I liked the noodles, but I didn't think the soup it came with had much flavor together. I really liked the unagi, which was soft and flavorful. My bf got the cold udon, hamburger steak, and unagi kabayaki. We really liked the hamburger steak and he liked his cold udon and unagi. We also got the bomb sushi roll, which was also good. We were so full from all of the food!

We were craving some sushi and decided to try this place out. The owner of the restaurant was super nice and made us laugh. We really enjoyed his hospitality. The food was delicious. We can tell the rice and fish is fresh! It is a bit pricey. But maybe because it's slightly more expensive than the Bay Area. The only issue we encountered was one of the servers made us feel rushed. But we may return when we go back to the islands. read more
Was craving for some SUSHI, And stumbled upon this spot via YELP, So I figured give it a try. Checked out this spot on July 5, 2019 Friday with the family during lunch time. Parking / You can park in the parking structure @ Ward center it's free parking so you don't have to worry about paying for parking unless you do Valet services. Food / What we tried was thee *lunch special MISO BUTTERFISH. *7pc nigiri set with sashimi assorted *a few of their different special rolls. *For the butter fish it was good but PORTION was so SMALL the cut on the fish was so thin, we was expecting a bigger portion but oh wells. Their lunch special comes with miso soup and salad. *For their 7pc Nigiri Set with sashimi it was aight, could be better as well (IMO) The cuts on the sashimi (Ahi / Salmon / Hamachi) was again thin cuts was hoping for thicker cuts *Like they do at AHI & VEGETABLE Resturant. As for the 7pc Nigiri it was (Ahi / Salmon / EBI / Spicy Ahi / Egg / octopus / And I believe lobster claw meat) price on it was $26.99 it was plated on a nice wooden board *So presentation was a PLUS I'd say. Service / Our server at the time was very helpful and always checked on us if we needed anything and always having good vibes conversation with us. Located in Ward Centre, Ginza Sushi is next to Paina Café. It's a small Japanese restaurant that serves your typical combo plates (fish, chicken) that comes with miso soup, small salad, and edamame. I had the Spicy Ahi Donburi and Scallop Dynamite. Both were good. I love how the menu has disclaimers that certain items will take a while for preparation. So, the food was good, but by no means the best sushi I've ever had. The only thing I didn't care for was the texture of the spicy ahi. I prefer my ahi sliced in the little chunks as opposed to it being served typical tartare style like mush. The service, however, was great. Our server was very polite but also funny. I had lunch with a co-worker and I told our server that I would be paying for my own food. My co-worker was insisting on paying for me, so our server said, "I'll just put the water on your tab." Towards the end of our meal, I had a bite of my donburi left. It was taking me a while to finish it off and he and he said, "You have one more bite left. What are you waiting for, a choo choo train? Maybe an airplane spoon? I don't wanna take that job from your dad." Probably doesn't sound that funny-but it was just one of those things where you had to be there to think it was funny. The food overall was delicious what was frustrating was the length of time it took for small requests like ginger or our drinks. For it is a small place. You wouldn't think it would take 15 minutes for small requests. It's one of those things you need to remind them. Again food was delicious but lack of attendant service. read more

We first visited when we came to Oahu on vacation two years ago. This was a must eat place on our return visit this time. The food was just as delicious as the first time we had it. My husband had the Avenger and Paradise rolls. He absolutely loved them. I had the Ward Special which was choice of (4) pieces of two different rolls, miso soup, and salad. The salad was good but heavy on the dressing. The miso soup was good. I had (4) pieces of the Garlic Crunch and Down Under. Both were absolutely delicious! I can't rave enough about them. My sister-in-law had the chicken teriyaki combo (with miso soup, salad, and rice). She said it was really good. My brother-in-law also did the Ward Special. His choice of rolls were the Hawaiian and Avenger. He said both were delicious and the Hawaiian was "amazing". We will back - again - when we come back to Oahu. read more

My lady and I found this amazing place (thanks to Yelp the BEST SUSHI search) I have to say that the service from the get go was incredible, our hostess + server + chef were all increíble to us. Lastly, the food was incredible, fresh fish, the sauces and the creativity behind the sauces used for specific rolls was just perfect. Thank you! We will be sure to eat here again when we are back to this Beautiful island. read more
FOOD: B+ The food here is pretty good! It's your typical local Japanese fare, with teishoku and udon and soba and sushi. They offer it all, and the prices aren't too high (a little high but it's in Kakaako so it's to be expected). Nothing too spectacular, but I love the wide selection. Recommended Dishes: - Garlic Hamachi Nigiri: Oh man. So so good. It's totally worth getting an order of this on the side. The hamachi melted in my mouth, and the garlic flavor was just perfect. - Spicy Ahi Poke: I love their ahi poke here! I got a bowl here for lunch, and I DEVOURED it. I was so hungry from spin class, and I needed something filling to replenish my body. This was perfect. SERVICE: D+ Okay, so the service at this place is usually pretty good. The servers are usually pretty attentive and kind and helpful. HOWEVER, on one recent evening, everything that could go wrong went wrong. I had put my name on the list hours prior to getting seated (yes you read that right - hours) but my friend was late. I told the server/worker that my friend was going to be late and to let other people ahead of us. That was fine. When my friend got to the restaurant, I immediately found the SAME server/worker and let her know that we were ready to be seated and that my friend was there. Because my friend was late, people had already gotten seated and the wait time was longer - totally legitimate. But then... I noticed groups of two or three that arrived later than me were getting called up to get seated. I eventually walked up to the same server/worker to ask for the wait time (and kinda see what was up) and she claimed to have forgotten I was there or something to that effect. Weird because we were standing RIGHT AT THE ENTRANCE. We finally got seated after waiting a little longer. BUT when we did get seated, our waitress was very forgetful and it took a long time for us to even get our orders in (like almost 30min). We were seated in the back area and our server kept helping tables next to us but not us and then leaving the area before asking us for our orders. Not a great experience and really off-putting. I will likely go back when it's not so busy, but I think I'll be ordering mostly takeout from now on unfortunately. AMBIANCE: B Cute and clean. I like the little booths and they also have outside tables! Nothing too fancy/exciting. They have cushions for your butt if you sit on the hardwood in the back so that's nice. RECOMMENDED? For takeout. I can't really recommend the service here after that last experience I had. It was really upsetting to be "forgotten" both before getting seated and after getting seated. This review would be an update for me. I must say, the food is not the same as it was when I first fell in love with this place. My favorite here was the Ginza Special sushi roll. But the taste has really dropped since. I don't know what it was about the Ginza special now but it's not the same, that's for sure. So I'm saddened about it. The Ginza special roll caught my attention because it's made with spicy ahi. Anything that has spicy ahi, I'm down for, so that's why I tried the roll to begin with and I swear it was made with grounded spicy ahi. But when I tried their Ginza special roll again, this time it was cubed ahi. So maybe that's why it was different this time around. Either that or it was made with less spicy sauce. Everything was tasty! And for 20$ the AA set was totally worth it. I got the fish katsu and soba and I couldn't finish it. Sorry, I don't have a picture, I couldn't wait to eat. The set also comes with a salad and miso soup. We also ordered hamachi Kama (19$), which was very large and the pictured nigiri. Owner is very friendly and came out to greet all the tables. The wait staff seems new, but very nice and attentive. read more

We got here right around opening and the restaurant was totally empty, which it shouldn't be because it's overall pretty solid! Restaurant itself is nice and clean, ambiance is nice, but music choice was interesting (not that important for me anyways). Service was quick and food came out quick as well. We ordered 3 rolls: the Nbious roll, bomb roll and the Moana roll. Nbious roll was solid, the shrimp tempura was fresh, crispy and light. Bomb roll was tasty as well if you're looking for something with more of a "cooked" taste over raw. The Moana roll was pretty good too, though I think it could use maybe a touch more unagi over the top. Overall pretty good! Prices we felt were pretty fair and matched the quality of the sushi as well. I definitely recommend if you're looking to try a new sushi spot! read more
Fish was so high quality and my group of besties love it here so much. Service for dine-in was great! The quality of the fish really impressed me. I am a big fan of the hamachi. I love hamachi so much and it was soooo good. I dream about sushi a lot in general. Will definitely be back to try out the other rolls! The Hamachi lover was a favorite for sure. Delicious sushi and friendly staff. If you're looking for a low key sushi place with great food, this is the place. I usually only get the Captain Crunch roll with some miso soup but I've had several of their rolls and they were all very good. They do close for lunch around 2pm I believe, so keep that in mind. They have outdoor seating if you would like as well if inside is crowded. It can get pretty busy during lunch and dinner and unfortunately they do not do reservations but I think its always worth the wait. Its close to Ala Moana Beach Park and theres a free parking garage right across from the restaurant. read more

Our family eats here often, usually after our long beach walks or whenever we feel like some yummy food. Most often we are here during lunch time. We enjoy sitting outside so that our pup can come along. We usually order our same favorite dishes. The staff is always very friendly. Try them out! read more

Not worth the price. Disappointed with my last visit. I will say first off, the food quality has been super inconsistent the various times I've dined here but overall I wouldn't choose to come here again unless I'm in the area. If you prefer to just eat fresh sashimi or sushi, it'd be a considerable option but not something to come out of your way for. I've been in several times for lunch and initially fell in love with the freshness of the otoro and chutoro they served here as it was super buttery and decently sized. The karaage would be hot and crispy, the sashimi were in thick slices and not fishy at all, and all combinations are paired with miso soup, salad, japanese white rice and ice cream for about $22-$28 depending what you order. I would not recommend any of the shrimp shumai as it was straight up sad and mushy, almost like something you'd except from a steamable take home meal from costco or sams club. And the other appetizers just seemed okay but not a lot of quantity for the price you pay. And while the rolls are smaller than some other places, they do have quite a few options with creative combinations at an average of about $15-$20 each. The times I've gone here for dinner unfortunately did not fit the same bill as I've tried ordering different combinations to try more of the menu, only to get super fried karaage, crispy as all hell katsu, burnt skin misoyaki butterfish and even the otoro was not as fresh. The uni was great but honestly you can get good uni at other places so you dont have to force yourself to come here for it. My biggest complaints with this place is the service, they'll generally be there to refill your hot tea, water when they're doing their rounds and maybe swing by once or twice if you're lucky after asking if the food is okay. The bus boy will usually be really quick to grab plates but sometimes the waiters will virtually disappear and be gone for what seems like a really long time if their not actively serving your table at that moment, which sucks if you're trying to put in your next order without having to wait 10-15 minutes between plates. I was mostly disappointed with the service tonight as I specifically had asked for the price of the uni, in which the girl told me verbatim, "Our specials is Chutoro and Otoro for about $6 each and the Uni should be about about $7 but you have to order two pieces at a time so the total should be about $14 or so!" Hearing this compared to the menu pricing of it listed as $17.95, I really did believe it was their special since the price difference was a few dollars. But no reconfirmation of the actual price was given when I ordered it, which I figured I'd trust the waitress on the price she told me until we got the check and it was charged the original price. At an almost $4 price difference, one would expect at least a verbal confirmation from the server if we still wanted to order it, but I'll take the benefit of the doubt with that. But when I brought it up to her at the end to make sure the bill was right, I was essentially stiffed and was told to pay the price even though it was her fault for not telling me the full price which is what made me upset. Especially when her words were essentially "Oh sorry, I said it would be /about/ $7 so it would have been /about/ $14 but it was a little more than that so thats the price." Like jeez, I guess screw me for assuming the price you gave me and didn't even try to rectify your mistake with a discount or anything except for a quick apology before running off to help other tables. They do not take any reservations so if its not busy, you're more than likely to be seated immediately. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty relaxing if you come in when they're not busy, but since its a relatively small space the tables are crammed pretty close together so it can get rather noisy with other parties around you talking up a storm. Its not so loud as where you can hardly keep a conversation on your table, but loud enough to have to speak louder to get your order across to the waiters. Had my experience be better tonight I probably only would have rated it one star higher but it is definitely now not a spot I would go out of my way for anymore. It's definitely a place for quality and relatively fresh sushi, but definitely not amazing to drive across the island for as there are better sushi places than here. read more

We got the Ginza special and the Alaskan. They were both great but the Ginza Special was absolutely top notch. We were confused about the location of this restaurant and almost went into Genki Sushi instead. This sushi spot directly faces the street. Delicious! 10/10 read more
Ginza is located across the street of south shore marketplace at Ward. Parking located in bldg where Genki Sushi is. It's a small joint with I think less than 10 tables. Honestly, I have had better sushi but I can honestly say, this is a bit better than doraku. Service sucked, not sure if it were just tonight but it was slooowwww... We didn't receive our shooters till 15-20 mins later. And so did the rest of our order. If you just want a quick fix, you can try it here. Nothing really wowed me. This probably will be the first and last time unless I can't get a rsvp at sushi II and I'm really craving sushi. read more

Very small portion sushi special. And their quality is good but not great. It doesn't worth my second visit. Actually it was my second visit but first time eating there. I had to leave the first time I was there, because their dining place smells like kitchen. I thought I'd give another try but quite disappointed on how mediocre their foods are. read more

Service: The people here were very nice and friendly. Always coming to check on us and I would say 5 stars on everything. Food: The food was very delicious. The fish platter my friend ordered tasted very fresh. The only disappointment was the tempura ice cream. The tempura batter on the outside was soggy when usually it's supposed to be crunchy. Or maybe I'm just thinking of regular deep fried ice cream when I eat it at other places where the outside is usually crispy and crunchy. Although the prices are a little steep here the quality in the food was fairly decent. I would definitely come here again. They also do outdoor seating if you wanna bring your furry friend along for your meal. read more

If I'm being honest-- this place from the outside just seems like a typical Ninja Sushi or regular takeout sushi place. I didn't know it was a popular and well-acclaimed restaurant til someone mentioned it to me. I have passed it so many times, but didn't try it! We arrived a little after opening, with just another table filled. It was empty, but the ambiance was nice. The waiter was extremely friendly, and the service was very good. My sister and I were pretty hungry, so we ordered the lunch specials, I got the Ginza A ($15.95) Mix Tempura option. I am always on the search for a bomb tempura place. It comes with miso soup, salad, and a bowl of rice. This tempura was phenomenal! Lots of places can't nail a solid tempura. However, the only thing was that their shrimp tempura tasted like Costco frozen kine...lol. I also got a maguro nigiri (2pc for $6.50). This was probably the freshest fish I've received from a restaurant (obviously nothing beats fresh caught from the boat). My sister got the nigiri special I believe, it came with 4 various nigiri and 4pc of California Roll. She wasn't too amazed with the sushi for the price, I believe it was either $16.95 or $17.95. But honestly, epic service, fresh fish, and good food. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because of my sisters contribution and also the shrimp tempura. read more

We got seated right away (thumbs up). Food was to our liking (very delicious). Menu had lots of options (lots of combinations, lots to look at/decide on). Service was good (waiter was funny and for the most part on it, except for refilling the water (I think he was the only waiter)). Salad dressing was different than most dressings, but I liked it. I always gotta get calamari (lol). I like calamari when it's in fried not breaded sticks. Ginza Sushi has fried calamari so I liked it (thumbs up). I checked-in on Yelp and we got free gyoza (yay!). The Bomb makimono, which we were told takes a while to make. It wasn't too spicy, but there was a kick! At the end we were each given a Ferrero Rocher and I thought that was a nice little treat at the end. Arigato gozaimasu! read more

Last night was great! Came in to dine and we was greeted by the lovely server and she's super sweet. On a rainy night , we chanced to go into town. My husband always go for uni, toro, and chutoro. Every time for a Japanese sushi restaurant he always gets those that's his main dish there lol . My daughter loves the ahi and salmon. My son loves the chicken teriayaki. Omg I love their mussel miso soup! You gotta try it!!!!! The owner/ head chef was super cool he interact with my kids and so does the server too. On a slow night, we enjoyed every bite of each dish. My daughter loves their fried tempura ice cream. It's so delicious. The prices was reasonable compare to other Japanese restaurants we went too. We will definitely come back again for more! Ginza has always been the place on my list of places to try. I've always seen them busy during dinner as I pass by South Shore. They have so many options to choose from and I love the variety of rolls they offer. I got the alaskan roll and the dynamite scallop roll to go. Total was around $50 but that's the price you pay for quality sushi. Was it worth it? I would definitely say it's an average price for a roll. The dynamite scallop was a little sweet but you get the richness from the baked top. They placed a bit of arugula below the sushi with a sweet-spicy dressing. Threw me off a little bit not gonna lie. The alaskan roll on the other hand was so good. I would definitely come here again. read more
We are sushi snobs, and we spare no mercy for places that aren't up to snuff. Having found the good and bad places in Phoenix, we now have begun our search here in Honolulu. Being on the ocean, we have high expectations. Ginza was our first stop, and I think this will be a very hard act to follow. The stars were the Hawaiian roll and the Paradise roll featuring lobster . This is a very clean establishment and the service was excellent. Very happy to have found this great restaurant! read more

This is a must try spot for sushi lovers! We walked in and got seated right away. No reservations needed. I saw strawberry nigori on the menu and asked to see the bottle. It was my favorite brand, Homare, so I asked for it. Next came another waiter and gave me a recommendation to try the hamachi lover since I had ordered a miso soup and hamachi sashimi. What can I say I was pleasantly surprised and so glad we stopped here for dinner. I was craving yellowtail sashimi and this hit the spot. I have my go to spot in Cali but this is the best away from home. The fish was so fresh. The hamachi melted in my mouth. I kept thinking of it as I was on the plane. Our waiter saw we finished the nigori and asked if we'd like more but my friend was too full and he let us try the lychee nigori. As the check came we got a ferrero roche to end it all. My daughter had a cross country meet in town today ( in town means Honolulu) so that means Ala Moana shopping and an early dinner! We got great parking today! Literally right next to the elevator. This made figuring out what to eat super easy, SUSHI! Once we checked yelp the choice was pretty easy as this restaurant had great reviews. We were greeted and seated immediately, what I loved about the menu was that the sushi had pictures next to it. This to me is very important because I like to try different types of sushi. However it's difficult when it seems like the description would be better with a picture next to it, it was the perfect sushi menu in my humble opinion. I landed on the scallop dynamite roll, it was pretty good. The roll was very filling, along with my California roll. The waiter was personable and friendly and between him and the hostess we were taken care of very well. I will definitely be back! This place is right along the way of your shopping endeavors, it's literally right across from the pier one import store. read more

Some rolls they can, others cannot. They are knowledgeable about this and also have Tamari (gluten free soy sauce).
