Gotta give this place its due. Really good pizza. I grew up in Chicago and used to get Giordano's all the time ... this tastes just like home. Thin and deep dish are solid. We've eaten there and had it delivered. This is as good as any pizza you'll find around here. It's different that the "fancy" pizzas you'll get at Lola's or Red Wagon (which I love by the way). The service was great but the food not so much. First I'd like to point out that if you are not familiar with the area the is in the old bakers square building. When my family and I arrived it was around 6:30 PM and the place seem busy. We were greeted right away and then seated very quickly. The restaurant appeared very clean and has lots of windows. We started with "The Best" Tomato bruschetta and it was just ok. I just tasted a lot of balsamic vinegar. We also order a deep dish pizza with spinach, garlic and the pesto chicken and a small kids cheese pizza. When it came out it looked wonderful but both of the pizzas were bland, the crust was doughy and the sauce tasted like canned tomatoes. My child never met a pizza she didn't like but after one bite she refused to eat anymore and I got through 1 piece before I just couldn't stand eating bland pizza anymore. The positive is there were a lot of young children (under 5) eating with there families so it very kid friendly. The servers and hosts are pretty great and there is plenty of parking. Well, this is the story. I had wanted to try their pizza for a long time- but the price and the poor reviews= kept me away. So, I finally bit the bullet. It's only 3 blocks from my work. I odered the Deluxe. It was Pepperoni, Onion, Mushroom, Green Pepper. Ok, the crust was my 1st issue. If you took a stack of Ritz crackers and removed the butter and salt= that's exactly what it tasted like. It wasn't chewy or gooey it was Grainy, like sand. I didn't eat any of the crust after the first couple of bites. Ok, the ingredeniets, or should I say, 'What Ingredients?'. There were 2 pieces of onion in the whole pie- this was a large that I ordered?. A few bites I noticed the Green peppers and a small amount of mushrooms. I could've saved a bucnh of money simply by adding my own toppings after I got it- Unacceptable! Now, the Pepperoni. I am a 'Pepperoni Snob'. It's my favorite topping and have had 100's of different ones. This on was ok. Sometimes I could taste it- most of the time- I couldn't. The cheese was decent and a good amount on it. The sauce was ok- but there wasn't very much of it. I thought I'd been depriving myself of great deep dish and would've been a regular. But, this pizza was awful. And I spent 40 bucks on it?! I have had great deep dish, I worked at a place in SoCal where the owner was from Chicago and his pizza was awesome. The best thing about the whole experience is that I'll never have to spend any more money there. Scott asked me what I thought of it and told him and he said, 'Yeah, I'd rather have a Lottza Mottza'. It wasn't even better then the domino's I occasionally get? How can THAT be. Oh, and the Pasta's. Listen, if you go to the store and just buy off the shelf= way better. The marinara spagetti was laughable. It was this thin sauce= NO Chunks of anything IN it, and a teaspoon of crumbled fresh oregano in the center. Ragu would've been better. The same for the Fett alfredo. "Are you people ever TASTING the food that you sell" I can already answer you that you Don't because you'd have hated it as much as I did. If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered a pizza from here that cost almost $40 and it was not the correct order. We specifically asked for an ingredient to be held off the pizza and they added extra of that ingredient. Also added mushrooms which my daughter hates. When I asked for a partial credit, manager said no. We obviously got the wrong pizza. This is not the first time this has happened at this location. This was my first time at this restaurant and I loved it! The pizza was very good and hot! We also ordered a smaller pizza for the kids and they really enjoyed it. Our waiter was very friendly and brought new drinks to us when we ran out without us even asking! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Stopped in tonight for the first time. Server was super friendly and attentive. Tried a complimentary order of the garlic cheese bread. The flavor was great, but it was apparent that it didn't get enough time under the broiler because the center was not just cool, it was cold. We chalked it up to a new restaurant still working out the kinks. Next came the deep dish pizza and it did not disappoint...lots of gooey cheese and plenty of sauce on top. The crust was flaky and the center of the pizza was hot, indicating that it received the appropriate amount of time in the oven. Great deep dish Pizza, we had the Meats pizza. Crust holds up well to all of the toppings. I prefer the crust on Davannis deep dish though, it has better flavor in my opinion. We got the sampler appetizer, awesome potatoes, the fried mozzarella was ok, my husband liked them more than I did, the boneless chicken was nothing to write home about, and the garlic cheese bread was cold in the middle and cheese wasn't completely melted. I think I had more expectations for this place as I've heard good things. I think I would only get Pizza and the potato bites again. I love pizza and I've always wanted to try this place dining in so I picked this place for my Mother's Day dinner! It was good. It was pretty expensive for what you get though. I have such a love hate with this place! I have ordered take out at least 5-6 times and here is what you need to know. 1. The deep dish is amazing. That is the only reason I have kept going back. 2. The delivery process is atrocious. We had a party one night and the pizzas never came. We had to go pick them up with guests at our house. They were so busy we would have had to wait another hour for delivery, this was after calling the order ahead 3 hours prior. The restaurant was so busy we ended up waiting 20 min in line just to pick up, then they realized half of our order was never made! Such a disaster, completely embarrassing for me not to mention time consuming. Total fail. 3. They are unbelievably unorganized. I don't know who is in charge of the location but it needs to be revamped. Drain the swamp! 4. Do not go hungry, you will be starving and miserable by the time you actually get fed. 5. If you order for delivery, your delivery WILL be late. I have only had it delivered on time once. All other times have been about an hour late or the time it was never delivered. 6. You will like the food. The deep dish is so good that you almost forgive them for their lack of management and customer service. When I say "good luck", I truly mean that! You will never really know what you are going to get. If they are having a good day you can expect great things, if they are not, you will be truly disappointed. Then you will take a bite of the deep dish and you will say, "wow". Just on a side note, stick with the deep dish, it is the star! Seriously though, server and service were fine, but the value equation at Giordano's is questionable. Examples: $12 'entree' salad was ust ok- enough for two. $30 large deep dish pizza- again ok- plenty of leftovers, but left me searching for sausage and pepperoni (known issue?). Feels like eating thick cheesebread with a good sauce on it. Tab for pizza lunch with salad and three beers with tip -$73. At this price level the pizza should be amazing- not ok. read more

Horrible experience. Went on a busy night, put in our name for a table, then put in our pizza order at the beginning of our wait. Waited the estimated 45 minutes for our table, sat down, and waited... for 30 minutes... without a single acknowlegment of our presence, all while the table literally 2 feet away who sat down after us got a server, drinks, and food. We still hadn't even been greeted, or even brought some water. The most frustrating part was that we sat down right at the same time our early pizza order should have been ready (according to the ticket) to just bring out to the table, but they couldn't even handle that. After 30 minutes of just sitting without anything, we decided to go home and just save the money. We have both always loved Giordano's but this was just not cool, at all. It wasn't that hot when we got it (took about 50 minutes even with a call-ahead 15 min before we go there). The crust has no flavor. I have had chicago pie in Chicago- they need more butter and salt. Long story short - I'll give Giordano's another shot, but first impressions are iffy. Online ordering seemed pretty slick - ordered two pizzas, some pasta and meatballs. Got an email confirmation that said it would be an hour...so far so good. I show up at the takeout entrance (which doubles as the host station for the dining room, so it's chaotic) and wait my turn. The hostess tells me my pizzas aren't ready and that "one of these guys" (the takeout staff) would tell me when they're up. No problem. I sit and wait. 10 minutes...15 minutes. Other people get their food and some of it's not right. So I'm patient and after about 20 minutes, I get up and check on my order. "Oh, your pizzas are ready." What about the rest of the food? "Umm...we're out of meatballs, so...I'm going to have to get the manager." I'm starting to get prickly at this point, but I sit back down and wait for 10 or 15 more minutes. I placed my online order around 5:45 and it's 7:30 now. Finally the manager arrives and is extremely apologetic and accommodating (thank you, Matt). The food IS tasty and I hope they can work out some of their customer service issues before I make a return visit. UPDATE 11/30 - Ordered delivery - again, the online ordering is very slick. I highly recommend ordering this way for both takeout and delivery. We had two hand-tossed pizzas this time. Delivery time was pretty lengthy - upwards of two hours. But we had planned for that so it was no big deal. I even got a follow-up call from manager Matt (another very pleasant experience - he's a keeper!) with questions about my order. Super considerate! The pizzas were delicious, though the hand-tossed crust doesn't reheat very well in the microwave (which is fine because I enjoy cold leftovers, too). The only reason this remains a three-star is the price - incredibly expensive for pizza, to be honest. For the money, there are a couple of other local places I'd choose over Giordano's. But it's worth splurging because the pizza is very good and the service seems to have improved. read more

I believe that I need to preface my review with the disclaimer that I am one of those rare people who is not particularly enamored with pizza of any sort. However, I went to Giordano's with a group of five recently because the group wanted to give it a try as it is new at this location. It is a Chicago based chain and definitely has the feel of a chain. We were seated immediately even though there was a crowd. The noise level was moderately high. We ordered the calamari and Parmesan fries as an app and an entree sized chopped salad to share. We also ordered a large deep dish pizza with sausage, mushrooms, olives, and artichokes. One of our group didn't want pizza and ordered the fettuccine alfredo. The calamari were ok but there was not a lot and the marinara sauce tasted like something you would get off of a supermarket shelf. The Parmesan fries were the best part of the entire meal. The salad was ok but nothing spectacular. You are warned that the deep dish pizza takes 45 minutes which was fine with us as we had a lot to catch up on and were not in a hurry. When the pizza finally arrived, I was disappointed. It was very heavy on sauce and cheese and light on the other ingredients. In fact if I hadn't known that it had sausage and artichokes, I wouldn't have realized that they were there at all. The crust was soggy in the middle so I scraped the filling off and ate it without crust. Overall I found the pizza to be boring. The four of us could only finish half the large pizza we ordered. I sampled the fettuccine alfredo and thought it was ok but very rich. Service was efficient and impersonal. I have no desire to return but if you are a deep dish pizza fan and not adverse to chains, you might like Giordano's. read more
