Yep, I'm still in small town Hamilton. I was hungry and thought I would check out this little gem. They bring you out a homemade roll and butter. It was so good. I tried their Stromboli, but I cut the sausage and black olives and added jalapeños. (Everything is better with jalapeños!) They brought out this monstrosity of a Stromboli. When I cut into it the cheese even ran out. It came with a side of marinara sauce. The waitress asked if I needed anything and I said a to go container! lol I already knew I wouldn't be able to finish half of it. It was a slice of heaven. Highly recommend this little gem. I don't know how the pasta actually tastes, but what I ate was amazing. They also make homemade pizza which I am sure is just as amazing. Service was great as well. read more

I had ordered the Angel hair pasta with Zesty Alfredo sause and meatballs. They had given me Angel hair pasta with red sauce and meatballs. The whole entire restaurant looks like a kid had just started a new game of restaurant tycoon on Roblox with barely any money at all. It was like a nasty humid heat in texas, good night there was no A/C whatsoever. There were flys all over the place like it was fresh gunk that flys love. The tables were all sticky and not wiped down at all. I felt bad for the waitress who was the only one serving people. There than that the whole experience was just icky. I would rather go somewhere else with my family, but my grandparents love the place and say it used to be so much better. read more

We were driving through this little town from Austin and decided to check it out. Food was fantastic. Don't get me started on their FRESH bread omg! Service was lovely and enjoyed every check up we had with our waiter. I ordered the Chicken penne a la vodka and finished my entire plate. Sweat tea was freshly brewed with every cup they refilled! So listen. The food was honestly 9/10. Garlic bread was tasty and toasty, marinara sauce was great. Manicotti was delicious and came out QUICK and steaming hot. We loved the margarita pizza too! However, the ambiance is a 0/10. Cracked paint, no music playing, awful decor, bad A/C. Service was great and food was hot, authentic, and tasty. Now this is a case of don't judge a book by its cover! Not really much to look at as far as decor. This Italian eatery is just about all there is out here in the country. So we decided to give it a go. Walking up it really is very unimpressive... walking in is not that much better... a large open room with no zing. However...immediately upon entry the people were great! New and newer, according to them, (they just started) they basically fell over themselves to take care of us. Extremely nice and just full of politeness and honesty it was very refreshing! We had some cheese bread aps that were "eh", but the free bread they brought out was GREAT! A few in our group got the eggplant Parmesan and loved it! I got the Stromboli and it was wonderful... huge, stuffed with meat, light pastry, and just very tasty! All 7 of us enjoyed the meal! (Hey it's not chicago Italian food, but out here in the sticks it is like finding Michelangelo's statue of David in a field!) The prices are great! Oh my goodness, where do I start. The building is so run down inside. It looks dilapidated and was super hot inside. The a/c looks like it's hanging on by a thread. It just looks and feels so unsanitary. We walked out. No thanks. The smell was horrendous in there as well. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, the manager was incredibly rude when I had called to discuss my order which they had already gotten wrong the first time. I had asked how much I was charged for the Alfredo because I had only a handful of pasta which had a disgusting frozen taste. After asking the price of the food I received he replied 'I charged you however much you paid'....so you're the boss but can't tell me the pricing of a menu item that you stated that you had put on my plate? How weird. It was a weird & incredibly rude encounter considering how nice I was in the beginning of the phone call. Also horrible proportions, they must be going out of business or have a a super cheap boss because I was only given a handful of pasta while being charged a crazy amount for some bad food. Italian food in America is either a hit or miss affair. Adjusted to American tastes and taken down to the lowest common denominator at Olive Garden, I normally try to stay away from "mangiare come l'italani" (to eat like the Italians). Finding an Italian restaurant in a small Texas town, my expectations weren't too high but I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is like in a small Italian country restaurant, fold-up tables with plastic tablecloths on top of it, simple and effective, yet not very atmospheric. Their garlic cheese bread was delicious, not too strong but still tasty and the cheese wasn't the bland mill-of-the-day mozzarella either. The Tomato Marinara that came with the bread, was actually quite exquisite; maybe a dash more of basil, but else the combination of the different Italian herbs made the sauce a first, great surprise. The mixed salad looked a little bit lost and seemed to be put together with not much attention. The vegetarian pizza (medium) was big and had some great flavors to it, with a minimal crust like in Italy it was almost a "a casa"-feeling. The Stromboli (calzone) had the right amount of crumbled Italian sausage, Canadian bacon mixed with tasty black olives and bell peppers. My only, small complaint here is, that I would wish somebody would make it with a real Italian bread dough. We will be back! read more

The food is excellent with a huge menu to choose from. My favorite is the Chicken Penne a la Vodka. But all of their sauces are great and their house dressing is delicious. I've been working my way through the menu. I also like to pick up a pizza at the drive through when I'm in a hurry to get home. The staff is friendly and very efficient. Love this place. read more

Had a phone order and picked it up. We are literally 2 minutes away. Lasagna, but unrecognizable. It was placed in a round metal container and it was spread out over the bottom, touching the sides. I wasn't sure what it was when I opened it, and it was cold. I think it lost its heat from being so spread out. It was also extremely salty. This place was perfectly fine for lunch. It was nothing special, but the food was pretty good. The storefront and inside are unimpressive but adequate. The tea was basically colored water, and the "garlic bread" that was brought to the table was just plain bread as far as I could tell. I got the combination with three different Italian entrees (I can't remember the name of it), and the taste overall was fine. They were largely indistinct, as I could not tell one from the other, and there was no differentiation. I'm not sure where these other people were eating, but my family and I found this place appalling. My wife ordered a dish that had been microwaved and the sauce came out broken. Anyone that knows anything about Alfredo sauce knows what I mean when I say broken. They brought us 3 rolls (bread) and when we requested more the waitress said it would be 50 cents a slice. This is not something that you tell customers, even if you do end up paying for bread in the total price. Then, instead of making our visit better, the waitress/cashier never said she was sorry for my wife's bad experience other than to say, " not liking a dish is no reason not to pay for it." The dish was ruined by the microwave. That IS a reason not to pay for it. We have eaten at other Giovanni's and have found them 1st class and excellent food. Italian Cuisine in Hamilton, Texas! There is not much to offer travelers through Hamilton, Texas ...so we were pleasantly surprised to find an Italian restaurant there. It is off of the main highway (US36) , 3 blocks from town square on Bell Street, but it is indeed a find. The food and service was excellent and the wait was short. Forget the greasy hamburgers ... While traveling through Hico, my friend and I decided to stop here to eat dinner. She is vegetarian, so some options for her were important. I was a bit skeptical when we pulled in the lot because no other cars were there, but we were both glad we decided to go in. We were greeted by a very friendly young lady and given drinks and fresh baked bread. My friend said that was the best eggplant parmesan she's had. I tried the pasta trio which was also excellent and clearly house made. Menu was very inexpensive and stated the pasta and bread were homemade. If I had more time, the desserts sounded great.
