Girl Diver has rebranded and is now serving Mediterranean cuisine. I enjoyed the previous menu, but thought it was overpriced and the service sucked. We went specifically for the bottomless martinis for $20. This deal is only on Friday from 12-3 at the bar. They have lunch specials as well. I chose the power lunch with beef kofta, whipped labneh, patatas bravas and a caesar salad. I really enjoyed the salad and the labneh with blueberries. The beef kofta was ok, but a little dry. The patatas bravas tasted old like they were reheated. I really enjoyed the martinis. The flavors I had included lychee, vanilla lavender, lemon drop and a strawberry martini. The staff were wonderful this time! Although I prefer the old menu, I will return for the martini special and to try something different from the menu.

Fun Asian fusion spot located in memorial. Always good music or something interesting on the tv if you're at the bar or outside patio. Also indoor dining space. They have a speakeasy for private events or with the special access tokens. Good deals!

I've come here a couple of times, and finally ordered some food my second time there. I ordered the shish kebab wrap, which was insanely delicious! The meat was cooked just right and the flavors hit you immediately! There was an unusually long wait for my food to the point that I had to ask for updates a couple of times, but I'll admit that it was worth it. The bartender also made me a drink version of the white tea shot, which was absolutely delicious!

Second time here and was not impressed. Meatballs were extremely dry. The garlic bread had no flavor. It tasted like over toasted Hawaiian rolls with cheese on top. I love Labneh usually and was very disappointed with the whipped Labneh as well. After it took almost 40mins and attitude from the server to receive the dip it was underwhelming in the flavor department. I ordered the G Spot cocktail. It tasted like lemonade with whipped cream. :( Music was fine, but not enjoyable enough of an experience for me to go back.

I love a restaurant where the energy is great and the food is just as amazing. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner and he was telling us the history of the paining and why he called it GirlDiver, amazing story we started off with the fried rice and tacos, which was shrimp and pork meat so delicious so juicy we had the pork belly that was just Deliciously flavored and then we ended up with the lavender drink and my sister had this delicious cucumber drink that was just really refreshing and then we ended off our meal not with dessert but with oysters and what a great decision that was the oysters were delicious. They were juicy full, not overly salty because sometimes when you get the Parmesan cheese, it is salty, but not here. Amazing will definitely return and it's right located across the parking lot so ample parking.

We originally planned to attend the free screening of Mission Impossible at the AMC across the street; however, when we arrived the line was wrapped around the building so we decided to go ahead and get dinner. We ended up wandering into Girl Diver on a whim and I'm so glad we did. We started with the cheeseburger sliders which were excellent. So tasty, well cooked, and perfectly seasoned. My partner actually ordered another round of these for his entree. I ordered the Thai chicken fried rice. It was really good. I wanted it to have more spice though so I asked for sriracha and everything was copacetic. I loved it. Also Richard's (The Restaurant Owner) playlist was soulful and such a vibe. That definitely added to our great experience here along with the great service from the bar. I'll definitely be back.

    - This review is for the speakeasy in the back - Came after a movie on a Friday night. Hardly a soul at Girl Diver, which made me wonder how they stay in biz. A speakeasy door should be artfully hidden, and this one is - love the sneaky bookshelf entrance. That is where the charm ends for decor. This speakeasy is dingy, dank, and could use a fresh coat of paint, an air purifier, and some windex. One TV doesn't work, but hangs lifelessly on the wall. The saving grace to this operation are the bartenders. They are awesome. The kind of classic cool you'd want in speakeasy bartenders - I genuinely felt they wanted my group to have a good time, and they pour some fantastic drinks! DJ was fantastic, although too loud for this tiny space if you want conversation. I can't speak to the food, since we just came for drinks. I'd love this place for the service and drinks if they would only invest in some improvements.

This is one of those places where you almost forget to take pictures of your food because it's that good. The curry has just the right amount of spice and the street corn is phenomenal. The cocktails are pretty amazing as well. Friends and I have visited twice now and both times the service was top-notch, the restaurant and bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and it was the perfect environment for both a casual dinner or a fancy night out. We learned on our last visit that there is a hidden speakeasy in the back. I love that the cocktails on the main menu are creative, rather than your run of the mill, typical cocktails. I'm excited to try the ones in the speakeasy on our next visit.

Girl Diver is such a vibe! The ambience is super cute--perfect for a date night, catching up with a friend, or even pregaming before a night out. The bartenders gave amazing service, and I loved the hidden speakeasy vibe. I honestly wouldn't have even known it was there if I didn't see someone coming out while I was walking by! We had the crab wonton dip and OMG... 10/10. I need that recipe ASAP. I had the drink that contain gin and lavender, and it was so delicious! Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

I visited this place on a Sunday and it was quite chill since I arrived when they opened. The server was friendly and welcoming! There's a speakeasy here that I must try, and I'm also interested in checking out the live music. My favorite items were the seasoned fries and my margarita. The lobster roll was okay, but I prefer clumpy lobster meat to chopped. I'll definitely be back, it's a pretty cool spot!

Update: I went back and sat in my usual spot on the patio and had a much better experience. The GM (I believe his name was Diedrick) stopped by to chat and cleared up some of the confusion and also took some of my feedback into consideration for future improvements. The entire staff working the bar and patio were upbeat, friendly, and attentive. The food was on point as per usual. I hope my most recent experience is what I can look forward to consistently in the future.

What are the hours of the bookcase bar?

    Thursday 7-11 Friday + Saturday 8-1

Do they have their liquor licence yet?

Yes, they got it last thursday or friday

Can I bring my own bottle of wine? What is the corkage fee?

When I went, they did not have their liquor license, so they encouraged us to bring any bottle we wanted and there was no corkage fee. They also gave us a free drink with a meal. I would call them ahead of time and check.

I like anything that's close to a speakeasy or hidden bar so this was really up my alley. So it's in Summerhill. You can pretty much park wherever you can find parking. There may be street or there may be a lot but there's still plenty of parking because there's a bunch of stuff on this block. And you don't have to worry about paying so that's a plus. You'll find the building that's painted and then take that door and go downstairs into the basement. Considering how light and bright the neighborhood is, the actual basement itself is pretty dark and kind of intimate. It's very dimly lit with candles but it gives it some character. I'd already eaten and drunk so I just stopped in for one more drink before I left the side of town. I only really had one drink but it was a pretty good drink. The bartender was the only reason I didn't give it a five-star rating. I thought that the vibe was good and the cocktail was good and the general aesthetic was very pleasing but she didn't actually act like she wanted to serve anybody at the bar. I'm a bartender so I know that service definitely matters. The patrons can pick up on when you're not energetic or at least trying to be energetic with them and I definitely pick that vibe up. We asked what the favorite drink of hers was and she said whatever the easiest drink was. Also asked what were the favorite drinks of the general population. She said all of them. She didn't give any thought to answering the question, didn't even try to lie about it. LOL. I have the M&M Manhattan and it was good. It's a smoky style drink so if you're not into mezcal smoke, you may not like it but I thought it was very savory and not too sweet whatsoever. Overall I would definitely go back. Outside of what I was picking up from the bartender, it's a really good vibe and you can probably walk from multiple places on this block and then end up here as a last cocktail before the night's over.
