Funny enough, I had just finished a hot yoga class, and my stomach had been barking at me for food before class even started. As I walked out, I spotted Girl Diver and immediately thought, "Yep... this looks like exactly where I need to be." The first thing that caught my attention was the Girl Dinner special. It included a Caesar salad, potatoes, and a martini (or mocktail if you prefer), and the salad and potatoes were bottomless. I was already sold. Our server, Ashley, was absolutely delightful. She actually told us later that she was new, which completely surprised us because you never would've guessed. She was warm, attentive, and such a natural with everyone she interacted with. Huge shout-out to her for making our first visit such a great experience. For my drink, I ordered the lychee martini, and it was delicious. The potatoes were perfectly satisfying after a workout, and yes... I absolutely took advantage of the unlimited Caesar salad. Honestly, for $20, the Girl Dinner is an incredible value. Parking was another bonus. While there are a few surface spots in the shopping center, there's also a free parking garage with plenty of spaces, which made getting in and out really easy. The hospitality didn't stop with our server. Everyone we encountered was welcoming, and someone was checking in on our table every few minutes to make sure we had everything we needed. To top it all off, the DJ had the entire place vibing. The playlist was basically a millennial's dream--so many songs that instantly took me back to my high school days. We went specifically for the bottomless martinis for $20. This deal is only on Friday from 12-3 at the bar. They have lunch specials as well. I chose the power lunch with beef kofta, whipped labneh, patatas bravas and a caesar salad. I really enjoyed the salad and the labneh with blueberries. The beef kofta was ok, but a little dry. The patatas bravas tasted old like they were reheated. I really enjoyed the martinis. The flavors I had included lychee, vanilla lavender, lemon drop and a strawberry martini. I came here to watch the Knicks play during the NBA finals. Girl Diver turned into a Knicks supporter bar which made the environment so fun! They have lots of TVs spread throughout the place and had a chopped cheese special which some of my friends ordered and enjoyed. I got the falafel plate which was delicious! The falafel is flavorful and moist, while still being crispy. The owner got everyone shots after the incredible Knicks comeback. There were some issues with some of the meals and then also with the computer at the end, but they constantly communicated with us and offered some discounts or more shots as a thanks for being patient. I've come here a couple of times, and finally ordered some food my second time there. I ordered the shish kebab wrap, which was insanely delicious! The meat was cooked just right and the flavors hit you immediately! I have driven by this restaurant so many times, and I finally got the chance to dine in. There is ample garage parking and some free street spaces. The restaurant is right across from AMC. The ambiance is nice inside--beautiful decor. The music is 80s rock and pop, which I enjoy, but I wish there was more variety. I went pretty early in the evening, so I was one of only a few people. My server was sweet but a bit chatty. I ordered the Brussels sprouts, pork chilli wontons, crab Rangoon dip, and some sort of apple drink. Everything I ordered seemed excessively sweet. The dip had a sweet chilli sauce on top. The Brussel sprouts had a similar sauce, and so did the wontons. It was a bit too much. Also, I ordered a few baked oysters and they never came. When I inquired about them, I was told by one server that the oysters got sent to a different table and the order was messed up due to shift changes. My actual server went missing and then reappeared about 20 minutes later, stating that she had a meeting and asked why I didn't like my oysters. I thought she left?? Clearly, there was some sort of misunderstanding or lack of communication on their end. Mistakes happen, but it did affect my experience. Not sure if he was the manager or what, but he said he would give me something on my next visit. I don't know his name, he doesn't know mine, and don't know what I will get lol , but maybe he will remember my face. In total, my 3 apps and drink came up to 66 bucks, which in my opinion was wayyy too expensive. Apparently the entire menu has recently changed, and the guest that came with me were expecting a completely different type of food. We made the best of it in order several items from the menu. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner and he was telling us the history of the paining and why he called it GirlDiver, amazing story we started off with the fried rice and tacos, which was shrimp and pork meat so delicious so juicy we had the pork belly that was just Deliciously flavored and then we ended up with the lavender drink and my sister had this delicious cucumber drink that was just really refreshing and then we ended off our meal not with dessert but with oysters and what a great decision that was the oysters were delicious. They were juicy full, not overly salty because sometimes when you get the Parmesan cheese, it is salty, but not here. - This review is for the speakeasy in the back - Came after a movie on a Friday night. Hardly a soul at Girl Diver, which made me wonder how they stay in biz. A speakeasy door should be artfully hidden, and this one is - love the sneaky bookshelf entrance. That is where the charm ends for decor. This speakeasy is dingy, dank, and could use a fresh coat of paint, an air purifier, and some windex. One TV doesn't work, but hangs lifelessly on the wall. The saving grace to this operation are the bartenders. They are awesome. The kind of classic cool you'd want in speakeasy bartenders - I genuinely felt they wanted my group to have a good time, and they pour some fantastic drinks! DJ was fantastic, although too loud for this tiny space if you want conversation. I can't speak to the food, since we just came for drinks. This is one of those places where you almost forget to take pictures of your food because it's that good. The curry has just the right amount of spice and the street corn is phenomenal. The cocktails are pretty amazing as well. Friends and I have visited twice now and both times the service was top-notch, the restaurant and bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and it was the perfect environment for both a casual dinner or a fancy night out. We learned on our last visit that there is a hidden speakeasy in the back. I love that the cocktails on the main menu are creative, rather than your run of the mill, typical cocktails. We ordered the labneh which was disappointing in the amount as we received a dollop of the labneh with 2 quarter pieces of pita for $15. It was tasty but for the cost there should have been quite a bit more. For the mains we ordered the bolognese which was very good but didn't fit the description of chili oil bolognese. The flavors were great and the portion was good though. We also ordered the shish kabob which had a few pieces of charged, overcooked and unseasoned steak over a bland bed of rice and charred raw onion. My bourbon cocktail (can't remember the name) was delicious. So delicious I had two... The food was excellent. We started with the Garlic Cheese Bread. Unfortunately not pictured here. This is a MUST order. It was two about 6" round "loafs" of soft pillowy bread semi-hollowed out as a bowl. Then stuffed with this light fluffy cheese (ricotta blend?) We demolished it immediately. I would just get this and a cocktail and be in bliss. The Basil Chicken was moist and the sauce very flavorful but it's definitely spicy with its red curry. Don't know if you can ask for it to be more mild if you can't take the heat. The Shaking Beef was very good as well. A huge amount of tender beef with just enough chew with a nice glazed sauce over it. The side salad was light and refreshing. The speak easy definitely needed leveling up it just appeared as a regular bar, I bought in my espresso martini from the main bar and then ordered another but it looked like a latte and tasted like one. We're most excited for the Brussels... had some family issues pop up and needed to get our order to go... tried to flag down the server but she was nowhere to be seen in that time (at least 10 minutes, reminder there were only like 3 other tables in the whole place). They eventually brought out the apps without the Brussels and the server said she "just found out they were out of Brussels". It feels like they could have communicated that sooner. They did not have a changing table in either bathroom for a child. Also, it was SO HOT INSIDE. Even if we didn't need to leave, I don't think we could have stayed because it was close to unbearable. There is a new speakeasy bar in the back that I recommend to check it out after dinner. We got the : Fried chicken sandwich: delicious and crispy. The waffle fries were SO good! Seasoned to perfection and fried golden. Catfish: did they change the menu? I didn't remember it was this sweet. I would not get this again unless they would change the seasoning ratio.
