This quaint little boutique just opened down the street from me...much to my surprise, it's a beautiful store with many products you wouldn't normally find in a retail setting. the owner is very nice, knowledgable, and best of all she doesn't "push" anything on you. i don't use cloth diapers, its just not my cup of tea - but i didn't feel like less of a mom or "eco-mom" because of it. the store does offer a mommy and me play group - which if you only want to talk about cloth diapers - then this is the group for you. i kinda expected more out of the conversation, but everything was redirected back to cloth diapers! and after an hour, i was just about done being silent and wanted to leave. the store is wonderful, the classes offered is great for our community, but the social interaction between mommies only centered around cloth diapers...maybe i picked the wrong day, maybe the conversation will change next week. i hope so because i'd love to come back! read more

I bought my first cloth diapers from this store. Because we received so many big box brand (Buy Buy Baby and Baby's R Us) gift cards we ended up buying the rest elsewhere. Just took the labor + postpartum class and it was incredibly useful. This was our first labor class and I think the condensed format was perfect. It was a 4-hour crash course and was very dense with information. My wife and I feel so much more confident about the labor process and I think it's the perfect place to start as far as birth classes go. We are planning to have a doula and a fairly standard birth. After this class we feel confident enough to do any additional research on our own and don't feel compelled to take any additional courses. read more

Just got back from the Breastfeeding Support Group class that Rochelle was talking about below. Wow! Had a really good time. Felt so comfortable being in there. Emily was really warm and knowledgeable and she made every effort to address everyone's concerns and just generally be welcoming..... My baby is due in November and it was so helpful to interact with other mothers and their babies. It really gives you an idea of what to expect. I didn't have time to check out everything they had in the store but it did look like they have a popular selection available. Will certainly be back! read more

They have a calendar with a bunch of events (some free) I love going to the breastfeeding group, has really helped me and have meet amazing mom that have questions too or answers to my questions. I was recommended this store by a friend. I went in to purchase a sling. The one employee that was there was great and she was doing the best she could given there were many customers. She was able to try the sling on me but I left spending more than $100 on something I did not know how to use. I could have just ordered online but thought the 1hr + drive would have been worth the personalized demo on how to wear the sling. read more

My review is based on classes and product. Nice store, merchandise varies from basic and reasonably priced to items on the expensive side. One thing is clear, all the items are mindfully chosen and have quality and usefulness in mind. Definitely some unique finds here. The owner is Gisele, she's a mom of four, super cool and down-to-earth. They offer some very cool classes, some are at no cost and others are a bit on the expensive side but worth every penny. Found this cute little organic boutique while I was in the area via yelp and was very satisfied with their customer service and products. My daughter sage has been teething like crazy and I had looked into ember teething necklaces. They had some available so I purchased one and it was the best purchase I've made in a while. After a day of wearing it, she hasn't been fussy and has calmed down. I really do feel that it soothes her somehow, sounds crazy but but we tested it out and it really works. When she doesn't wear it she cries , so we know it is somewhat comforting. The ladies working here are very informative about their products as well and they have such a positive attitude. Not pushy at all to buy products. I also like the fact that everything or most products are organic or recycled. Will come back soon read more

Before Granola Babies opened, I had to order all of my natural parenting items online or travel an hour away with two small children...and that just wasn't happening! I so appreciate that the owner of Granola Babies, Giselle, decided to expand her already popular online ordering and make it into a brick and mortar store. Being able to see the items in person, touch them, talk to other moms right there in person about what I am interested in purchasing, or anything mom or non-mom related is awesome! Not only does Granola Babies have a wide range of natural parenting products, but they support locally made work-at-home mom's products as well! This place is not just a store either, it really is a community for parents to find other like minded friends and share their parenting journey and gain valuable information that is provided through many free classes at Granola Babies. I personally have found many friends through the Granola Mom's Night Out experiences and from hanging out and talking to other mom's at Granola Babies. It is a great place and I recommend it to everyone I know who is interested in expanding their "mainstream" knowledge on parenting. read more

I love this store! The store itself is not that big but the merchandise is fantastic. A great selection of board books, natural wood toys, organic cotton toys/clothes/bibs and much more. Love the chewbeads I got for my baby along with the "baby paper". Also picked up a great nursing bra which was an unexpected find. The staff was very friendly and the store was clean and organized. This store is located in a chic furniture shopping area so you have to park your car and walk around to find it. I Love everything they have in the store, it's all super cute and well made. It is a bit on the higher $ side but it is a boutique after all. We went in to shop for a baby carrier and the staff helped me try it on and teach me how to strapped the baby in with different positions. It is totally worth every dollar just for this service. They also have some baby social classes in their back room. read more

Granola Babies owner Giselle reached out to me regarding my recent negative experience. She explained that the employee was having a rough day (IMO she should't have come to work, as obviously that can make a business lose customers) and asked me to return. I came back looking for the same things. I think they are still having some supply issues but my customer service experience was much better. I'm sad that the store doesn't offer as many products as it used to, but I'm sure many others enjoy the increased availability of classes they've been able to offer since devoting more of the store to those. I will continue to shop here and hope that my previous bad experience won't be repeated. read more

Granola Babies is fantastic!!! I love everything about this store: From the products they sell to the community that they work so hard to build (be sure to like them on facebook, that's where a lot of parent-to-parent support comes from). I only wished that they were closer to us (we are in Hawthorne). Some products might cost me a little bit more BUT I think it's 110% worth it. My love for this store has led me to limit, or abandon, to the best of my abilities, my relationship with Amazon. Granola Babies has reminded me how important it is to have brick and mortar stores. So, I've taken to doing the opposite of what many people do... I'll look at the reviews on Amazon, then, if Granola Babies carries the product, I'll buy it from them. I only wish that I knew about this place prior to my daughter's birth nearly three years ago. Now, I'm trying to figure out, how to appropriately let people know that, a) I don't need gifts for next baby, but b) if they want to buy me/new baby something, it should be *anything* from this store... I wish it was closer to my house. Although Granola Babies' sells items, their main draw are their classes. They have a lot of classes and events from breast feeding, massage, playtime, cpr, photo sessions, etc. must of the classes are very reasonable, if not free. Their store selection is very small, but they have cloth diapers, wraps, amber necklaces, toys, and oils. Definitely check out their website and visit the store before your baby arrives. read more

Granola Babies is a wonderful place for new moms and mothers to be. I started to go to their breastfeeding support group on Wednesdays and made some mom friends for life. I am grateful they offer this service for free as it is hard enough to get out the door with a new baby, especially when you are having trouble breastfeeding. I continued to come to Granola Babies for all the great events and every time I go in I swoon over the adorable products they sell. I know what I buy there is almost always eco friendly and natural, which I appreciate since I am very much a "granola" mommy. I also love that they support other local businesses and products. While not a huge store, they do have alot of items that you can't get at other places. They focus on healthy and environmentally friendly baby stuff. I love Granola Babies. If I could give Granola Babies 6 stars, I would. I say "At Granola Babies..." as often as I say "Dr. Sears says...". I find excuses to make the 30 minute drive out there, because the energy is so positive and I always come back with something awesome. I started going to Granola Babies when I was pregnant. I took their prenatal yoga class, taught by Laura Jane (love her! That class was the highlight of my pregnancy). Giselle and her awesome staff helped me birth naturally by recommending books that changed my view on birthing, introduced me to Dr. Sears, helped explain the difference between the MANY options of cloth diapers, helped me choose a baby carrier (or three), and opened up an alternative way of raising a healthy, happy baby. They have always gone above and beyond to help me, whether it's emailing back and forth about what size of woven wrap to get, or chatting it up about the benefits of homeschooling. Granola Babies is truely more than a hippy baby store. As an added bonus, you know whatever you buy from GB has been tested by a fellow granola mom and passes all the tests! I would highly recommend Giselle and her sleep coaching program! Her method is holistic, very gentle, and super collaborative. The progression each week felt organic - she takes into consideration how the child and parents are responding to the previous week's implemented change, and builds from that each week. Her program is custom tailored rather than a rigid one-size-fits-all plan. She is personable, approachable, friendly, warm, and compassionate. She was there for me and my child every step of the way during the weeks-long program by advising, teaching, guiding, supporting, and encouraging us. What I also liked about her program was that it was a longer (and, thus, more realistic) program rather than being handed a supposed magic sleep plan which was supposed to work overnight. Granola Babies is so much more than a store, it's a community of support for first time moms. I feel so lucky to have found the breast feeding support group when my little guy was 10 days old. They helped me with everything from gaining confidence in my ability to breast feed to actually being able to deal with some of the problems that may arise in the early days of breast feeding. Now that my little guy is older I still look back on those early days and am forever grateful to Giselle and her staff. As far as a store and products go, I just love knowing that I am supporting a community business that is green. This store is a must visit for any mom and they even have a registry!
