I'm really disappointed with my balayage. I asked for blonde to be added to the super grown out balayage I already had, and yet left more brunette than when I came in. How the stylist managed to add bleach to my hair and make it brown is beyond me. No blending done whatsoever (see: chunky highlight picture). I expected a basic balayage and was so disappointed. On top of that, the stylist tried to argue with me that my hair was actually blonde, I just wasn't seeing it in the right lighting. How have I lived so close to this place for years and am just now discovering this gem??? For a few months I gave up on coloring my hair since the color never came out the way I wanted, never like any of the inspiration photos I've shown to my stylist. I was Super impressed with the care and attention I received at my facial appointment on Thursday at Salon Gity from the time i entered Aylar welcomed me in with a friendly smile. First Impressions count so much! Ay!ar first asked me about my face and skin issues and after an assessment she started explaining and educating me regarding my skin and how to combat different issues that i was facing, She was very tentative and thorough on explaining with detail what she was doing and what products she was using on my face. Trung is absolutely amazing. He is so knowledgeable and an educator. I have come to Trung for my hair care and cuts. He is so passionate about hair that it's not even funny! He takes my hair care seriously because I obviously don't care for it as well as I should. This is coming from someone who has dyed, bleached, and tortured her hair for 10 plus yrs. I love my blonde and could not sway away from the brightness of the color. Trung gave me advice, of what he calls it, a "prescription" for my hair to bring back the natural shine and strength. Trung gives excellent head massages too when he washes your hair. I was confused if I was in a hair Salon or a massage parlor. Haha. The husband also goes to Trung for men hair cuts. I came in here for a quick do or haircut as a walk-in, and I was short on time as I have an event to attend in an hour or so. I am very thankful they were able to take me in and gave me a trim since a hairdo was not going to work since there is no time. They gave me a trim and flat iron my hair, no washing as I do said I do not need it. However, I was a bit shock at the pricing of $60+ for just hair cut and flat iron. I wished I had asked them the pricing before I sat down! Other than that, one good thing about this place is that they were open early in the morning when other hair salon places are closed. I made a hair color appointment with Apolonia. According to another review, she did the best ombré in sugar land. I have dark Asian hair with an old box color at the ends. When I spoke to Apolonia she was really knowledgable and was straight forward with me on what to expect, like it was gonna be difficult to do blonde at the ends. Everything she said turned out to be true except for the virgin part of my hair getting a lot lighter and holding up better than expected with the bleach. It took 6 hours the first day and about 3 hours the second day to complete my hair but I love it!!! Pros- 1. Apolonia knows color and what they'll do to ur hair. 2. She works really hard to get the color the way you want it. 3. She makes good conversations and everyone in the salon was friendly! 4. She listens. Most hairstylists do what they want but she got pretty close to the Guy Tang look I wanted. Cons- 1. Super expensive!! The receptionist have me an estimate of $150 over the phone. After my consult it was $200 and up. Then my total bill was $250 without the tip. 2. She's always fully booked on the weekends. The bottom inner part of my hair was platinum cuz it heated up and if she had watched it more often it wouldn't have happened. But she fixed all the mistakes!! read more

I'm sitting here waiting at another salon because Rohan didn't understand after 3 times of explaining that I wanted a simple fade on the sides. Bless her heart for trying to do what I asked but words like blend and fade didn't seem to make sense to her. I finally gave up on the whole thing knowing that not only was I paying for this crappy haircut but that I was also going somewhere else to get it fixed. I miss Mackenzie, my stylist in California that I left behind in my move to Texas. The search continues.... Also, not only was there no blend, but the left side is higher than the right side. Also, my instinct was to have someone else there fix it but as a walk in customer I didn't really want to wait around and have the awkward process of having someone else fix what she couldn't do. I've waited all week for this haircut. They told me she will be right with me and so they proceeded to wash my hair. After they washed my hair they told me she can't cut my hair because she wasn't feeling well. I understand she was sick but I could have rescheduled. Since they washed my hair I was pretty much forced to get a hair cut by stylist that I knew was going to be bad. I'm so upset by this. I don't even know how to begin this review because I am still stunned at how amazing this salon, and Gity herself, is. I am in complete awe at the beautiful event Gity prepared for my brother's wedding day. My mother wanted somewhere for my brother and his groomsmen to relax before the wedding and Gity absolutely 100% delivered. When we walked in, there was a table set up with food and assorted drinks and a personalized sign welcoming everyone. All of the guys changed into robes and then helped themselves to some food and a beer and sat down to enjoy the Mississippi State game (that Gity ordered for them). Over the course of 3 hours every single one of them got hand and scalp massages, hot towels, manicures, straight shaves and hair cuts. All of this was done in a comfortable environment and leisure setting. Some were getting shaves while others sat and drank beer and watched the game, etc. It was amazing and it felt like something out of a movie. I know my brother felt like an absolute king. As for my own experience, I went in with my mother, sister, aunt, and cousin for hair and makeup. The makeup artist was PHENOMENAL, and I am extremely picky about my makeup. The woman who did my hair was wonderful, we laughed and made jokes and she was incredibly friendly. I feel awful for forgetting names, but I don't think it matters because everyone was just perfect. I left feeling amazing and know the other ladies did too. I'm just so blown away. Thank you, Gity. I will return and refer you to everyone I know forever. read more

Do not get your haircut with the owner, Gity. She doesn't listen to what you ask for and does whatever she wants. The first few times I went to her, I had a decent haircut. But the last few have been terrible and she gets offended if you call her out. She shouldn't be a salon owner if she can't take criticism and isn't willing to make corrections. This was my first visit to SalonGity. I was greeted by smiles and treated so well! My stylist was Bailey.....who can seriously rock out some hair color/foils. Going back for keratin treatment (they have a special for this in August) and then going back for some extensions with Bailey. After they wash your hair, they put a heated towel over it.....heavenly, I tell you! Even Gity herself came up to me to introduce herself because she recognized a new customer. I was thiiiis close to canceling my appointment after spending 20 minutes trying to find this salon. After all, a haircut would no longer be needed as I was about to rip all my hair out in frustration. Neither Google maps, iPhone maps, or Yelp maps were helpful. From 59N, make a right turn at Parkway Blvd (as if you were going to 24 Hour Fitness) and make an immediate left. It's in the same plaza as the Physicians at Sugar Creek offices & the UPS store. It was my first time here and after this, I know it will not be my last. I was given a small tour of the salon (they are expecting to expand next door soon!) and offered some drinks/snacks. Chandavy was my stylist and I would definitely recommend her to everyone I know. I came in a desperate need of reviving my too-long, too-damaged stick straight hair. She not only listened to how I wanted it cut, but also offered some recommendations based on what I said. She took her time doing everything and made sure I felt comfortable with what she was doing. This helped ease my concerns that the cut would end up being too short/thinned out. I had made a comment on how my hair NEVER curls since it is so heavy and naturally straight. She jumped at the challenge and curled my hair for me afterwards, also offering up some tips on how to do it myself. She did an awesome job and I am so pleased with both the cut and temporary curls The prices here are higher than what I use to pay, but for a little more than $10 extra, you are getting so much more. The customer service is great, they don't rush through, and they don't push products on you to buy afterwards. Prices are based off levels of the stylist (with higher being more expensive). It was $48 for mine and my only regret is that I couldn't tip her more! read more

I looked up the reviews, I wanted to go with Trung, but he was out of town. So I went with Joseph bc he had an amazing review!! I always get anxiety when I receive haircuts. I had a TERRRRRIBLE CUT two years back and I'm still trying to get it fixed -_- He saw how anxious I was and kept reminding me, it Will be okay. He will fix my hair! I said okay. He offered me something to drink, which was great. I love customer service. After my thirst was quenched, anxiety calming down, he started my cut. I have very thick hair and it was way too heavy for me, but I didn't want it "thinned out." I love that Joseph listened to me and took my bad times before into consideration and started cutting. At first it looked like he was chopping off an entire wig, but he reassured me it was going to be okay,he was just giving me what I wanted. I'm truly excited to write about this Salon, but I will have to warn you that this will be a long one! It was around the summer of 2013 that something very personal happened in my life, that inspired me to donate my hair. However, a little before I had colored my hair at home (I know tsk tsk) so I continued to grow my hair out and kept getting trims to get ride of the brown and donate only my natural black hair. At the time I didn't realize all the credible places that accepted colored hair as long as it was healthy. If that were the case it would not have taken 2 years! Anyways when it was finally time and my sister and I both wanted to donate our hair. I did my research and asked every lady I knew with fabulous hair! I even made a Google Doc with al the places I'd narrowed it down to with Ratings, Prices and Services! I ended up going with Salon Gity because of the awesome reviews, prices were the lowest on my list and because I personally knew about 5 satisfied clients! PROS * Initial Impression: I actually called a few places explaining my situation and when I called Salon Gity and left a message they actually called back. After some phone tag because of my schedule I was able to call them to talk and they said they thought Joseph would be a great stylist for what we were looking for. Also they said he's good with curly hair and that was important to us! My options were Joseph, Chandevy, or Apolonia so I was happy! When we got there we filled out some forms and things went by quickly but not rushed. * Overall Cut/Color Experience: Joseph was really nice, calm and quiet. He let me talk and explain what I wanted, but I also gave him control over what to do. I wanted to cut off 8 inches, but saw that I could do 10 inches and he was confident and calm so I was at ease about it. My sister got more than 10 inches cut off and still had a good amount of hair left over. My hair was definitely the shortest it's ever been since elementary school lol. I wanted to color my hair so he did highlights (sort of Balayage and Peak-a-Boo highlights) in a Caramel Color and a base of Medium Brown. While my color was setting in, he cut my sister's hair. He put a toner in my hair afterwards so it wouldn't be so bright so when I finally saw it I was really happy! While the toner was in my hair, he finished styling my sister's hair. PROPS for time management! He put layers in my hair and styled it and I never imagined loving the short hair look on me! * Overall Salon Atmosphere: I love how they provide you with water, orange juice, cranberry juice or wine...I think there's also coffee and snacks. The owner, Gity, came and spoke with me and was so kind and got me pretzels and chex mix and chatted with me. The place is decorated nicely and kept very clean! The other stylists were so nice and so was the front desk receptionist! Really like their customer service. *Price: $196 plus tip! So this may seem like A LOT to most, but this included 2 hair cuts, my base color, my highlights, toner and styling both our hair. I expected it to be much more! I know Joseph is a Junior Stylist, but I calculated everything beforehand for LESS things and it was still more...also because it was my sister's birthday a week before they took $10 off. :) Also if you check-in on Yelp you will get an offer for 10% off of any product. They didn't try to sell anything though. CONS Only ONE thing that is preventing me from giving Salon Gity 5 stars! My hair was bit uneven in the front. I noticed it right after he was done, but Joseph and my sister didn't. I went for a few days with it, but nobody else noticed it until I asked my mom who did. Maybe we're OCD, but I called and told them and they said I could come in and get it fixed. My sister's hair is also uneven in the front compared to the back and she still needs to go in. Mistakes happen so it's fine, BUT when i asked if we would get any money back they said it's either money back or they can fix it not both because they're fixing free of charge. You would think that since it happened to both of us we would get something back, since they should fix the mistakes REGARDLESS! It's the only reason why I'm not sure if I would go back. I was in desperate need of a haircut and the place I usually go to was closed so I whipped out yelp and they directed me to Salon Gity where I was able to get an appointment with Joseph within 15 minutes. Salon is clean and stylish and I like that they offer wine. I told Joseph I wanted to keep my hair length but wanted more layers for my curly/wavy locks. He was great at listening and making what I had envisioned even better! I was very happy with the styling at the end. The products smelled good and Joseph was great at blow drying. Chandavy Chou was my hair stylist and the awesomest friend. I went in to get a haircut, well more like a trimmed and I was very satisfied with the result. Usually for the other hair salons I have been to, they always somehow cut more than what I asked for. Chandavy listened, paid close attention and very passionated at what she does. She cut just as much as I wanted it to be and the result was great. I love my hair long and I don't often cut it but if I do need to go, Chandavy would be my go to person. My review is for Gity - the owner of Salon Gity. The level of care/service that you receive from her has gone down significantly in recent years, and is almost laughable. She always leaves to take phone calls (even with the front attendant present) in the middle of your haircut, leaves to have conversations (not service related) with other clients, and doesn't even ask/give you a chance to make sure you're satisfied with your haircut before rushing you out. The random price increases when you check out is very skeptical too - make sure you call her out on this. She has joined a pyramid/multi level marketing scheme and tries to sell you a bunch of useless/overpriced cosmetic products/pills that she claims are the 'fountain of youth' *eye roll*. Research the company online and you will know to stay away! I dealt with her lack of respect for way to long because I would get a decent haircut. After the last few times of subpar haircuts where she did whatever she wanted/not what I requested, i am officially DONE. If you have to go to Salon Gity, I highly recommend you going to another stylist. Gity is conceited and does not care anymore. read more
