We were in Astoria for the Goonies weekend and decided to stop in since it was one of the places open later that wasn't just a bar or something. This place has a great atmosphere and you can tell the owner and workers love this spot and working here!! A couple machines are a bit janky but that's to be expected when playing retro games like this! Jacob was really helpful with fixing some of the jammed games and with my boyfriends many questions lol We didn't try any of the food but came back two days in a row to play some games definitely worth dropping in if you're into retro games/magic. My bf also got some magic the gathering cards here and got another big box the second day because of their really reasonable prices especially for cards right now. He doesn't know much about it, but Jacob was super kind chatting w him about it and explaining it. We wish a lot more game/card shops in the east SF bay area, where we're from, were like this one instead of just like random store fronts with foldable tables set up n that's about it. Such great decorations and workers!! Definitely will be coming back if we make another trip up here :)

I totally smoked my kids on Off Road Challenge because I know how to drive a stick now

This is a review of the arcade only because we didn't order any food. A Gen X'er & a Millennial walk into a beach arcade and are instantly transported to better days. This was exactly like the arcades of our youth except a lot less sticky. One nice thing about this arcade is that you don't have to interact with anyone if you don't want to. You can feed your bills into a machine and get your tokens and play until you want to leave. If you don't have cash on you, or you want to exchange loose change for tokens, the staff will happily do that for you at the counter. $1 = 4 tokens, just like the good old days. Many games take just one token, some take up to 4. Air Hockey table played for 10 minutes with 2 tokens. Just like at the old roller skating rink on fundraising night. They've gone a long way to give this arcade a retro feel and it works. There is a retro living room set up with Goonies playing on and old tube TV. My husband and I exclaimed, "We had that TV when I was a kid!" "My grandma had those lamps!" "We have that trunk in storage from grandpa's house!" Our kids didn't care about our tales from "the late 1900s", they just wanted to play games. $20 lasted over an hour for a family of 5. If you haven't played Off Road Challenge since you've gotten your drivers license, I highly recommend it. It's a lot easier after you've been driving for *cough* 20 something *cough* years. I got to put my initials in on the high score screen - a first for me. (Thank you, drivers ed) Some of the machines were slow to work and some were awaiting repair, but they were all about the same age as me and I am also slow and awaiting repair, so I'm sympathetic. We would love to come here again!

    Air Hockey....Auntie wins cuz she's a cheater!!

Eatery Menu~ prices are great and the pepperoni pizza was good. Thin crust and they brought it to the table. Great list of snacky Snacks and if I visit locally again I will most likely come back. The environment is very family friendly

    Classic arcade games.

We were looking for something to do after dinner on a weeknight in Astoria, but all the bars we wanted to go to were closed. Actually, pretty much everything was closed. Lucky for us, Gizmo's was open! The barcade has a snack bar in the front selling snacks, soft drinks and a couple of beer/cider options. There's a seating area in the front, but it looks like you can also take drinks anywhere. Although it's not huge inside, there's a good selection of classic arcade games, pinball machines, claw games, and an air hockey table. Games range from 1-4 tokens to play, so you can definitely get your money's worth! In the back, there's also a retro-looking "living room" area where you can rent game consoles by the hour. And there's a shelf of board games you can play at the tables. We had so much fun, we didn't realize we closed the place down! I felt bad when I saw that we stayed past closing time, but that's just how fun Gizmo's is. A fun, all-ages option for your Astoria evening!

Please go to this place! It's super nice and the patrons and employees are super nice. And the hot dogs are killer!

This place is great! I'm doing a pinball crawl on the Oregon coast, and I was thrilled to find this new retro arcade in Astoria. Great beer selection, small family-friendly menu featuring hot dogs (vegan options available) with a mouth watering array of garnishes. For pinball fans, this place has three amazing tables from bygone days -- Scorpion, Trident & the triple-level Gottlieb classic, Haunted House! There are also newer pinball machines, claw games with fun toys, and a fantastic collection of arcade machines. If you're a fan of Nintendo, Neo Geo, Tekken, The Simpsons arcade game or any other retro game, there's a cabinet here with your name on it.

This place is so cool and the owner is so sweet. It has the coolest vintage vibe so both parents and kids love it here. We stumbled upon it when we were checking out vintage/antique stores and my 10-year-old couldn't have been more thrilled. We will be back again!

Great little spot to play some of the retro arcade games. Staff are very friendly and the place is clean. So fun.

    Pinball fun

Great evening with our college aged kids. Cozy, retro vibe with areas for eating, game playing, arcade and tv lounging. Multiple board games to borrow (we played while eating hotdogs), fun hot dog choices and of course pinball and retro arcade games. BBQ pork hotdog and Mac n Cheese hotdog were our favorites. The only downside ... cold subpar nachos (but the fake cheese on the nachos was very much keeping with the retro vibe!)

    Classic pinball!

Gizmo's is exactly what Astoria needed and we couldn't be happier that they're here. It's a well-designed, family and nerd-friendly arcade, cafe and retro experience without being too much or too little of anything. They really got the mood right, creating a very welcoming place to chill with friends. They have a solid array of excellent games (classic arcade, air hockey, and new and old pinball) and everything is nicely presented in a well-maintained, clean and fun environment. Sometimes you just want a place to go where you can casually chat with friends over some nicely prepared hot dogs (including vegan options!), soda or canned craft cider and beer, and excellent games. Astoria may be well-known as a craft beverage destination, but Gizmo's delivers where those places can't --and helps everyone feel welcome in the process. Cheers!

Goonies never say…read more..... Some movies are classics. I will forever love watching the Goonies. It has always been one of my favorites. The fact it was made in my home state of Oregon just makes it a little bit more awesome. Being in Astoria on vacation made this house a bucket list item. We didn't need to look through the windows at what the new owners had done. Or take items. There is a donation box. Please help pay for the constant vandalism. There was a time a previous owner had stopped access for obvious reasons. Let's try and respect the current owner and not keep the true fans from enjoying a bit of Oregon movie history. Just being in front of this actual lived in house from the Goonies movie is amazing. I really enjoyed thinking about all the movie scenes and how cool it would have been to be on set for filming. So much history. I know we've seen it already but I can't wait to see it up close again.

I've probably seen The Goonies movie about 50 times in my life. While in Astoria, we decided to…read morecome by to check out the house. It was pretty easy to research and map out how to get here. It's in a neighborhood on a private driveway. Be sure to not park in their driveway or the neighbor's spot. You can park in the neighborhood somewhere and walk up. There's a sign at the bottom of the driveway too, the owners know people will come by to take photos etc, so they aren't bothered by it. Just be respectful and you'll be fine. For any inconvenience, they put out a donation bin if you want to drop a few dollars for coming by. Cool to see the house that I admired as a little kid. Glad to have come by to snap a few photos and see it in person. We walked the neighborhood too, we were out of there in like 20 mins. Childhood memory fulfilled.
