I would say come here come here for the food but I'd be lying (I ordered their burger with tots and it was fantastic, exactly what you expected from a burger and the tots were perfect). I would say try the local beers on tap but I'd be lying again (they have 5+ on rotation, maybe all the time idk but tonight they have 5 and the ones I had were fantastic and tried a couple more tasters). I wish we had a hidden gem for breakfast like this one in Vancouver. Hell, I wish I could get a breakfast like this anywhere closer to home. Without a single clue what to do in Astoria (first time visitors), we parked for $10 in the Port of Astoria lot on the west side of town. It was a warm day, and we were hungry, so we took to Marine Drive to look for breakfast and this was the first place we saw. It says they serve it all day. I don't think they have their own lot but street parking doesn't seem to be a premium here. Later on, we discovered that this place also made the vet staff's recommended list which was a happy coincidence. It says on the door that they don't have public restrooms, which they don't, but they do have a men's and women's restroom for customers. Nice ambiance with the nautical theme and some slot machines (is gambling legal in Astoria?). I particularly liked the piece they took from a real ship called Raven and perched a fake raven on it on the wall. Makes the little goth in my heart happy. You order at the bar and the lady who took it wasn't the friendliest. P told me in retrospect that service was slow and she had a bit of an attitude when I asked him whether this place warranted a 4 or 5. I guess she did, but all I noticed was how good the food was! The workers breakfast for $14 is outstanding! The sausage patty is luscious with a nice bite of heat. They make your eggs perfectly and they cook their potatoes skin on in a skillet that leaves the edges with a nice crisp flavorful crust. You need the toast (we both ordered dry wheat) to mop up the egg and eat with the sausage to fill you up. Honestly, haven't had a breakfast where every single element of it was all of great quality. Plus, it's an almost perfect portion of food. I know I want to go back if I can just convince P to ignore the attitude. Another cool local hangout. A group of us stopped into Worker's Tavern for breakfast on our way home back to WA. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Worker's Tavern offers a full bar along with slot machines. There is an ATM on-site for those who need to take money out to gamble with. Indoors is small but has tables to seat large groups. In the back one will find an outdoor seating area with a dissimilar vibe than the tavern. During our visit, the kitchen staff was about 45 minutes late so we weren't able to order breakfast right away. Once the kitchen staff decided to show up, there were quite a few people ready to order their breakfast which caused disjointed and undercooked meal deliveries. Table service was not offered inside or outside. All transactions are done at the bar. The breakfast menu doesn't list pricing and when I asked about the prices, I was told they change regularly. Shady statement. While waiting for the kitchen staff I sipped on a Bloody Mary for $12 and my wife sipped on a Screwdriver for $6.50. The Bloody Mary seemed a bit overpriced to me. Two people in our group ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was still frozen on the inside when served. Worker's Tavern corrected the meals; however, I'm certain the meals were undercooked due to the pressure of the late kitchen staff and the hungry demands of the morning patrons. It is imperative that staff show up at their scheduled shift times. I wanted to try the Cheddar Fritters & Syrup but was told they were out of the item. My wife and I shared the Mushroom Swiss Omelet for $14 + $4.25 up-charge to add sausage to the omelet. We were both happy with our meal choice. Overall, Worker's Tavern has potential; however, that potential was severely during our visit. read more

The bar itself is okay, along with the menu and most services. The problem is with the owner, who chose to pick a fight with a customer who was minding their own business, and had played a song from Wynton Marsalis - which was a trumpet solo jazz song. It was so petty to observe this owner criticizing the customer in front of other people. But it did not stop there with the owner, who further attempted to denigrate the customer for being "unemployed", when said customer had recently retired after working for real paychecks for about 55 years. I know this because I had the opportunity to speak with the customer, and to hear them talk about being recently retired. I observed the customer pay their tab and leave peacefully without saying anything derogatory towards the owner. Again, the bar itself is quite nice; one can sense the history, and appreciate the ambiance, but it fails with the owners comportment. The owner, Diana, is a PSYCHO!!! My husband and I booked a room through Airbnb. We told her that we have 2 service dogs (1 for me 1 for my husband), and 2 pets. She responded with the fees that would be due. I went to the bar, checked in, paid fees and had the bartender escort us to our room. Hours after check in she messaged saying that it was too many dogs. I was immediately uncomfortable and asked her what she wanted me to do. Zero response. I have insane anxiety, and am a dv survivor, so feeling safe is a big deal for me. I then informed Airbnb, whom after a night of investigating paid for us to move Airbnbs, and opened a discrimination case against her. After I checked out, she then started messaging me, threatening me and gaslighting me, saying that I made her feel uncomfortable and that now she has to add rules because of me. Again, there were zero rules on the amount of animals allowed, even though service animals do not have to be mentioned and to not count as pets. She continued to harass me and send me a payment request for $125 saying that my dogs ripped her curtain. Again, my dogs didn't do those things. I had video and picture proof. Airbnb sided with me, proving that she lied in retaliation. It is now 2 days later, and the unstable individual will not leave me alone. Now there is a harassment charge against her with Airbnb. The bartenders are fantastic, but the owner is beyond unstable. Talking with the locals, they agreed with me. Go to this establishment at your own risk. Great staff!! They really make you feel like you're just old friends instead of customers. Very reliable service, they are open 9 AM -2 PM, seemingly regardless of weather. We're giving this place all the glory it deserves, and to be honest, it all goes to Payne. We didn't know coming into this classy dive bar, but Payne was a bartender, server, and cook. ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! Before I get into the food, I want to say that this place is really cool. Clearly, the community is really invested and they have a good following. I liked this board they had about buying their friend a drink whenever they come in. I wish places back here in LA had them. My girlfriend went for the hush puppies and BBQ chicken wings while I wanted to try the burger and fries. There were a few orders before us so we waited awhile for food, but after figuring out that Payne was doing everything, we totally understood what was happening and just enjoyed drinking, talking to strangers, and watching sports on the TV. Mad respect for this talented individual. He brought us our food which was all good and cooked perfectly. The man is very talented and even made this bourbon bacon maple bundt cake that stared at me next to the bar. We didn't try it, but someone near us did and said it was terrific. The cool part about this as a tourist was the slot machines and that it also worked as an Air BNB, which we heard gets busy during the summer so reserve a spot there very early. This is such a cool and laid back bar! Walking in, I admired their really cool door and their upside down Christmas tree, complete with festive Rainier reindeer cans. Their cocktail menu is fun. While I may not have iron jugs as they claim you need to have to enjoy their oyster shooters :) , I had three oyster shooters total on our trip and they were so fresh each and every time. So simple and so good. They use Bar Pilot's Jalepeno Lime vodka in their shooters (a local distillery). We also enjoyed a plate of their hush puppies :) the green onion plus the cornmeal made an awesome taste. We also stayed at the Airbnb that they host-it was awesome. Your order is taken at the bar with the menu on the wall & grab a place to sit.. our food arrived almost at the same time - although we had ordered an appetizer - Dirty Balls. He was very welcoming presence and a good cook! Less than stellar part of the review- 1. Racist and homophobic graffiti in the restroom was not nice. 2. Customers, whom I assume were regulars or locals, were very unwelcoming - not sure if hearing my spouse speak a word in Spanish, or the fact we're not locals was their issue. We found this spot because we had my dog with us. We noticed a sign down by the river walk. We're so glad we stopped! They have an awesome outdoor patio in the back, it's really pretty. Excellent place to bring your dog! There's also a few games, and a fire pit. We had the turkey BLT and it was awesome. Super thick bacon & turkey. The macaroni salad is really good, too! Bartender was friendly and got us what we needed. This is an order at the bar place. Would definitely come back and recommend this tavern to anyone! I wish we could've tried more of the menu.
