This coffee shop is NOT enforcing the Mask ordinance. Allows people w/o mask in. They do not have posted the ordinance on the windows either. They try to limit how many people enter to order and the employees are wearing mask. Food is standard for a coffee place. read more

We were on the hunt for a coffee shop between Boca and Jupiter and happened upon Gizzi's Coffee. The shop has a very dated feel, but the coffee is pretty decent. The employees weren't too welcoming, but they were efficient enough. Don't bother with the pastries, they're pretty dry and not worth the calories. read more

Went hear to meet someone for an interview . First time ever . I was treated upon entering and the place was clean but a bit dated . What I like is that it's not the usual Starbucks and Starbucks crowd where they want the newbies to feel intimidated if they don't order their " tall , soy milk , no froth, stevia, ice coffee, hold the woo cream" and so on lol. I ordered an iced coffee , it was good , strength was appropriate . It's difficult to get good coffee. It's a place where they greet you by name and you can tell there are a lot of regulars . I like that feeling of being welcomed and where it doesn't appear that the people behind the counter just want to rush you out or just hate their job! I will be back to give them my business. Great coffee... everything else, "Feh" I've tried.. I tried to give Gizzi's a few chances, hoping that each experience would improve. This place has so much potential, but in the end, I don't get excited by potential, I get excited by substance. A great coffee shop... even a good coffee shop should have a vibe, a pulse.. something different or unique that sets them apart from the starbucks and/or greasy spoons of the world. For this review I am going to enlist all my senses - sight, smell, sound, taste, touch - Sight: an odd hodgepodge of high tops and tables with a few couches by a fireplace with a carpet that looks as if it hasn't seen soap in a dozen years. Old yellowed news clippings & random pictures lilting at odd angles... Not overly inviting Smell: This place should smell like fresh baked goods & brewing coffee... it smells musty... probably related to the carpet. Sound: Gizzi's had some nice jazz playing this morning. Too bad I couldn't hear it over the loud electric hum of the food display case... So annoying I actually left after 15 minutes instead of my normal leisurely breakfast. Touch: Not sure where to go with this.. I really didn't want to touch anything in there. I had to sit at a high top as it was the only place with a plug. Problem being, the table is so small, there wasn't room for my food, laptop & coffee - Last but not least, taste: The Coffee is really good... really good. Too bad the bagel, cheese & egg sammy was "ehhhhhh" at best. The bagel was more like spongy bread... a bit soggy... with a semi melted slice of boring run of the mill american cheese. The egg was ok... I mean really, it's an egg. End result - a sub par experience through and through. I hope management reads this, because this place has so much potential! Then again, what do I know... This place has been open for years, and they do have a locals following. May be it's just me, may be not.... Nah, probably not. Oh, one more pet peeve...and this is a HUGE one in my book - Styrofoam cups went out with Reagan - No self respecting coffee house uses these anti-christs of the environment anymore... Gizzi's is tucked away in a shopping plaza just off US1. It was very easy to find, lucky for us since we had just woken up and were in dire need of a tasty coffee! It was about 8:15am last Sunday morning when David and I stopped into Gizzi's. It's a quaint, family-friendly, and easy-going atmosphere. Only one other gentleman was comfortably sitting and reading his newspaper. I ordered a tall espresso and David ordered an iced coffee. We also ordered sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. The coffees and sandwiches were prepared in a timely manner, especially since there was only one barista working at the time. She was cordial yet quiet. The coffees were okay... we added our own creamer and sugar yet it still seemed relatively bitter. The sandwiches were okay as well, nothing too special yet we didn't expect to be amazed! While we enjoyed our breakfast, two other people walked in with their toddler daughters (they seemed to be regulars because the barista smiled big when she saw them)! It was entertaining to see the young girls giggling and playfully running around the coffee shop! The coffee shop seemed to really value their customers by getting to know them on a personal level. My fiancé and I have been on the hunt for a new coffee/breakfast spot. We found Gizzi's when doing a local search on Yelp and decided to stumbled over to it and check it out. When we first arrived there was only 1 other couple hanging out having coffee in there which we weren't sure if that was a good sign being almost 8:15am on a week day. Plus side, parking was easy as they had a parking lot unlike a lot of the places in downtown Delray where it's street parking. We were greeted by whom I assume was the owner. He seemed friendly and patient as we decided what we wanted to eat and drink. They a bunch to choose from. Sandwiches, paninis, pastries, muffins. Typical coffee house stuff. My fiancé and I both got egg sandwiches, he got his with sausage and cheese, mine just cheese. To drink I got a vanilla coffee and he got some more advanced white chocolate latte as he normally does. The breakfast was cheap. Only $3.29 per sandwich. It was definitely fresh made as I saw him scrambling the eggs. Not like the pre-made crap you get at Dunkin Donuts. The only semi turnoff was he microwaved the eggs as he didn't have a stove. Sandwiches were served on your choice of bagel, wheat or white bread. I chose wheat and it was very good. Had some yummy grains in it. It was a decent sandwich that definitely tasted like sometime I'd quickly whip up at home. Since it was so cheap I wouldn't mind spending an extra buck or two next time I go in and asking for extra egg or in my fiancés case extra sausage. The coffee was good. Great price and great size. Had your choice of small, medium or large. They have a million different options. All different roasts and flavors. They even have slushies, smoothies, iced drinks, cider, and kid friendly options. They have a huge wall of do it yourself fresh ground coffee with flavors like Snicker doodle, Mocha Java, Chocolate Fudge, Irish cream, creme brûlée and of course the basic roasts. They were $1 more per pound than we usually pay at the fresh market but on Tuesdays they offer buy 2 pounds get 1 free! The atmosphere was very nice. They had a cozy section of couches with a coffee table nestled by fireplace. Yes one of South Florida's rare fireplaces. Haha. They also has larger tables for parties of 4 or more, high top tables or tables for 2. I believe I even saw a bookcase with games and books/magazines to play and look through. As more people started to come in we noticed a bunch seemed to be regulars. The man behind the counter greeted them and even knew some of their orders without asking. My fiancé agreed in a world full of corporate impersonable companies it's nice to frequent a place that when you walk in they remember you from your last visit. I'd definitely head back to Gizzi's again. read more

Have passed this place on Federal a gazillion times and finally tried it out after leaving Spot Coffee because their steamer was broken. I was pleased to see their assortment of organic coffees for sale by the pound, and felt a nice vibe inside with a couch and a couple of chairs near a fireplace, as well as some cafe tables scattered around. My shock came when they were selling Costco cupcakes at the front counter. Yep, they were selling them right out of the plastic containers, even with the white Costco sticker still on them! I get that it's the Halloween season, and they wanted to sell "Monster" cupcakes, but why not sell something seasonal that, as a consumer, I at least THINK is locally baked??? If I want a Costco cupcake, I'll go to Costco -- which I actually DID do after leaving Gizzi's, and confirmed the Monster cupcakes they were selling. C'mon, you can do better. read more

I bought a Groupon for Gizzi's with high hopes. The plaza is very pretty and looks expensive. There were two men at outside tables, one was smoking, and two women at a table having beverages. I ventured out at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and expected the place to be packed. Nope. I explained to the man behind the counter that this was my first time here and that I had bought a Groupon. He was so standoffish, did not acknowledge me, did not make eye contact, finished making someone else's coffee and brought it to that man, who was sitting outside. He then returned and asked me what I wanted. I again explained about the Groupon and asked for a latte and a pain au chocolat. He said that's a chocolate cigar (it looks like the former, not the latter). I added a large latte and waited for my order at the counter while I chatted with another patron. Little did I realize he would bring it to my table, but apparently not...bevause when I looked down the counter, there was my order. Not sure why some people got coffee delivered to their table and some didn't. The chocolate cigar was pretty tasteless and WAS a chocolate cigar, most likely from Publix Bakery or some other grocery store. The latte tasted like it was made with skim milk (thanks Mr. Personality for not asking my preference...) so it was very light in texture and did not have the round fullness and boldness of a true latte. All in all, very disappointing. I would have given a higher mark if the customer service was better. I hate DD, but even their lattes are an improvement over this place. I should add that I am a very social person and this man should not be behind a counter giving such an awful first impression (if he wants to get and KEEP more customers). SKIP! read more

The location is great which is actually unfortunate for me since I didn't like the place. The food is a bit lower grade than Starbucks. The young lady at the counter was friendly and helpful (which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars). The coffee was really not all that great; they seem to use syrup to flavor the coffee. The taste, in my opinion, was rather artificial. Someone was playing "not my n*gro"; as a black male, I found that very distasteful and rather insulting. The place has a stuffy old artsy feel, that caters to those who fancy themselves "saviors" of others, kinda vibe. Really solid "old school" coffee shop. No pour overs, or other crazy contraptions to make coffee, just your run of the mill drip option. The drip of the day when I went was "Italian," which had a lot of great flavors. I was really impressed with the coffee. The place also has great WiFi. I clocked it at around 13 Mbps. Really quiet coffee shop with lots of windows and natural light. Service is friendly and very pleasant. They also had some good looking pastries and food menu. If you're looking for a nice quiet place to sit down and chat over a cup of coffee, or just looking for a good place to study, Gizzi's Coffee is a great choice! read more

I wish I had a coffee bar like this in my neighborhood. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon to hang out for a Meetup event. The owner (I presume) greeted me with a big smile and asked me what I would like. I ordered a large coffee, but there wasn't enough in the pot, so he asked me if I didn't mind waiting for a fresh pot. OF COURSE I don't mind; you can't beat freshly brewed coffee! He told me he'd bring it out to me when it was done. Gizzi's Coffee Bar is a nice size space with tables, bar stools and comfy sofa chairs. They have different coffees brewing every day and a huge wall o'beans if you'd like to buy and take back home to brew. They have tea as well, but I stuck to the coffee. I had a chocolate chip cookie which was nothing to write home about. The other things in the display case looked yummy, but too sugary for me. I also noticed that they have weekly events live music, poetry night etc that changes monthly. There is ample parking in the strip mall and huge windows. Gizzi's is an odd bird, an independent coffee house in a sea of Starbucks, but it looks like they did their best to make it look like a Starbucks. My latte is really a cappuccino and it tastes weak, oddly watery. On the other hand there is free wifi. Unfortunately there's also no escape from the easy listening music. It is blatantly however, a local establishment which I really like. I hear the regulars having short, friendly familiar conversations with the staff. There is a group of women having some sort of meeting behind me for what I seem to overhear is a local Meet Up group. And, in much loved old school coffeehouse style there is a fantastic table full of local free newspapers, fliers and local business ads. Back in the days before the internet, these resources provided by local coffee houses were how a person found out about what was going one and I really appreciate that. It is, however, 2011, even in Florida. Sure I'm spoiled by having lived in California and traveled all over the world and had my coffee actually been good I would have awarded the third star but getting a cappuccino when I ordered a latte and having it taste so, well, tasteless, I can only give two stars. read more
