They will make big boxes of yummy ham n cheese and turkey n cheese croissants, cut them in half and put toothpicks in them. You can feed a TON of people a great snack or lunch very inexpensively. Found this place via Yelp, so thought I'd give back by writing my own review. This place is great, one of the best doughnut places in the city. The women there are helpful and always cheery, even at 8am on a Sunday morning! The thing that makes a good doughnut, for me at least, is one that does not reek of oil or taste heavy. Also, they should be fresh, at least in the morning. This is why this place rocks. Little piece of advice, go early on the weekends or you might end up like me, without your favorite doughnut! The apple fritter and buttermilk donuts are the best I've had in these categories. The apple fritter had a nicely textured and somewhat crunchy exterior with a very moist center with plenty of small, cubed apples. The buttermilk was very dense and moist. SOLD OUT of donuts 2 hours before closing! They had one jelly triangle and a few chocolate sprinkles when we got there. B+ for the jelly triangle, the shape made it so that bites were either all jelly or all donut. But the donut and jelly were good quality. B for the chocolate sprinkle, had a coconut taste and a chemical aftertaste but was moist and fluffy. I'll update when we actually get to try the donuts but really DISAPPOINTED that they were sold out so early and weren't even attempting to make more. read more

If you ask me, Gladstone Donut House is home of Pasadena's best-tasting maple bar! Compared to Winchell's, Gladstone's maple bar is just the right amount of sweet. Very satisfying. Occasionally, when I'm in the neighborhood and want something quick and easy, I'll order a Ham & Cheese croissant...without jalapeno. This is where I prefer to buy my coffee in Pasadena, CA. This is also where I go to get my Hot Cocoa fix. They know me to order the medium :) It's always good to leave a tip when you can. I appreciate this business for sticking around all these years. I can't stand donut shops or cafes that only carry sugars in packets. Gladstone provides glass jars for easy and efficient pouring. They also have good options for creamer. I have the exact same review for Gladstone as I do for Pronto! My paycheck, along with a great majority of Americans, is deposited directly into my bank account. My checking account comes with a lovely piece of plastic guaranteed by Visa called a debit card. I have been extended a line of credit from another bank and that line also comes with a lovely piece of plastic with the same logo on it. I assume that, like myself, very few Americans have much need for cash on hand in this day and age. That is, unless you want a doughnut. Despite the fact that the Girl Scouts now have a Square reader so that they can conform to the necessities of the era, this established business can't be bothered. Yay I was greeted by a nice friendly gentleman when I walked in. It was my first time there. I Purchased some donuts and a turkey Swiss cheese croissant sandwich that was heated up. Fresh baked donuts. The twists and glazed donuts were airy and delicious! My mom tried the crumb roll which was like a across between a crumb donut and a cinnamon roll. Very tasty and fresh as well. We came around noon and some other places donuts are only fresh in the morning but these were fresh all day! OK, SO.. I've been to this place twice to get donuts for my office. The first time it was fine, the lady was whatever about the amount that we were buying (4 dozen) and was friendly enough for me to come out of there with a smile on my face still with boxes of donuts in my hands.. HOWEVER, what I experienced today was so mind boggling to me. I went in with a coworker to order 6 dozen donuts for the office since it's Friday and end of the month and all.. and the lady was giving us so much attitude. I lost count of how many times she sighed after she heard how much we wanted to order. She asked if we can let the guy behind us go first since he's a regular and he only wants a couple of donuts, we were completely fine and happy to let him through. We even let another lady and another guy go before us as well since we knew ours would take a bit of time to put together. We were as patient as can be for regular mixes, not like we were picking out one donuts at a time. When she was on her last 2 dozen I asked her if I could mix in some donut holes and she straight up said NO to me.. and I asked her I can't do that in place of the donuts that I'm getting? She finally said okay and so I replaced half a dozen donuts with donut holes.. but then she only gave us SIX donuts holes.. and I asked her so one donut hole is equals to one regular sized donut?? Blew my mind. Managed to change half a dozen donuts for two dozen donut holes at the end. But wow.. I definitely left unhappy and totally ruined my morning.. there I was trying to do a nice thing for my coworkers and surprise them with donuts on a Friday going in all happy with that thought in my mind only to let it get ripped out of me and come out all pissed off. Came on a Saturday around 2pm, they still had a ton of donuts left. I chose a glazed buttermilk and it was awesome. I could taste the tang of the buttermilk( thats pretty rare). I love this place. Completely unassuming both inside and out, the baked goods (made fresh on the premises) are very good indeed. The regular sugar doughnuts are as light as air with none of that nausea inducing greasiness. They refuse to carry sausage or bacon. So you can only get either, cheese or ham kolaches. And a majority of their specialty donuts (peanuts/cherry/coconut) are only cake donuts. So you cannot get regular coconut or strawberry topped donuts, only cake. Its strange that they have such a stifled selection yet such high reviews. I went in to get 3 dozen donuts for a party. I had a vision of making these neat donut towers topped with a donut hole each. Variety wise, it was average typical stuff, nothing especially outstanding. Price wise it was pretty good at $6.50/doz. Now all the donut stores I go to, if you order a doz they give you a free extra donut or a couple free donut holes. I got nothing here and they even shorted me one donut from my 3 doz order. Smh.
