Super friendly and love the samples they have sometimes. Donuts keep coming out fresh and the texture is just soooo delicious. They also have solid drinks. Parking is what can be a pain since both businesses are popular that share the lot. They have oat, almond, coconut for milk substitutes!
I have been eyeing the Mango Sticky Rice!!!! It was a hot day and an even better sweet ending. The Mango Sticky Rice was so dayum good!!
I came on a Thursday around 6 after work and the parking was PACKED! It shares a small parking lot with Howlin Rays so take into account busy hours. I had to circle the lot a couple of times waiting for someone to leave. When I got in I was greeted warmly by the workers and the sweet smell of donuts. I came just for the mango sticky rice donut and was glad they still had them later in the day. The donut was good light and surprisingly not too sweet.
I only come here for one thing--their chocolate donut. It's not your average donut shop donut either. It has a light chew and pillowy texture, more like a chocolate bread than a donut. The best part about it is that its not too sweet. For almost $6 a donut, it is pricey but you can tell they use quality ingredients. If you are a chocolate lover, you need to try this at least once. I did and now I'm hooked! They were doing a BOGO free for their seasonal mango sticky rice donut. No comments on this as someone else ate this. Service here is always pleasant and friendly. The staff are always so warm and welcoming. There is a parking lot with free parking, but they share a lot with Howlin Rays so finding a spot can be nearly impossible during peak lunch hours and on the weekends. Parking is easiest in the mornings. Otherwise, there is street parking available. Minimal indoor seating and a handful of patio tables if you want to hang out with your pups outside.
Visited Sidecar on national doughnut day. I ordered two doughnuts: salt & buttter and maple bacon. The butter & salt was a heavier cake doughnut vs the light and airy maple bacon doughnut. Both were delicious - depends on what type of doughnut you like. I also ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk, unsweetened. This helped balance out the sweetness of the doughnuts. The best part is new app members get a free doughnut and drink. If you're craving a sweet treat, drop by Sidecar next to Howlin Rays.
So good! I tried three donuts first (mango sticky rice, cinnamon crumb, & glazed), and while I waited for my order, I tried the samples on the counter and just had to go back to get the butter and salt donut. I see why it's a favorite and I can't wait to go back for more!
Oh snap I'm glad this place isn't that close to me. If it were I'd be 400lbs because I'd be here on the daily....it's that good! They are super friendly and the place is very clean. The app has a lot of fun perks too. I got a bitter and salt donut and it was so fluffy and fresh.

Although it's more than I usually pay for donuts, I wanted to try these donuts just for the experience. Later in the day, I tried the old tashioned, which was super heavy in weight and seemed to fill me up on my first bite. I would say these donuts are the opposite of Krispy Cream and have worth their weight in dough. Service was just average, but the line flowed fairly quickly. There is patio dining and a Howling Ray's right next door. If you plan your day just right, you can have breakfast and lunch, back to back!
Stopped by Sidecar for a quick break before another hour of driving, and it was a nice place to recharge. Aliyah, my server, was genuinely friendly and had such great vibes from the moment I walked in. I went with the Old Fashion doughnut (a classic buttermilk cake doughnut with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, finished with a light vanilla bean glaze) and paired it with an iced vanilla latte made with oat milk. It was a simple combo that hit the spot. The doughnut was moist with just the right amount of spice, and the latte was smooth without being overly sweet. Bonus points for the outdoor seating area. It's clean and tucked beneath a canopy of greenery. It's the perfect place to slow down, enjoy a coffee break, and mentally prepare for getting back on the road and staring at concrete for the next 60 miles.
Ok, my favorite doughnut store making its debut in the 626! Was so excited to see Sidecar pop up in Pasadena - I used to drive to Costa Mesa and Fairfax just to get my hands on these doughnuts!! Although the location isn't the best, you can easily find street parking and walk over - or you can park in the tiny lot shared with Howlin' Rays if you are lucky. Doughnuts are always baked fresh, love that they are constantly changing, pairing up with other places, and having new cream top doughnuts for me to try. Overall, workers have been relatively friendly. Love my staples - but also a huge fan of their blueberry, lemon, celebration. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will be back soon for sure! A few spots inside but you are more likely to find a table in the outdoor patio area.
Dangerously delicious, proceed with caution. Cute aesthetic spot with some indoor and outdoor seating for a casual and quick treat/coffee. We arrived 10 minutes before closing and still had all of the options. Service is decent. The Apple Pan 10/10 (I believe it was seasonal, but OMG it was the perfect amount of sweetness, creamy, flaky, all the textures, and all the goodness you could ever want) Banana Bread Latte 9/10 My husband had the "old-fashion" and enjoyed it, my kids ate "the cookies and crème". Nothing went to waste :)
The name of the place is doughnuts and coffee and time and time again i go in for a doughnut and a coffee and they are OUT OF COFFEE!!!! The employees are used to just selling espresso so they don't bother brewing. There are doughnuts i would want to come back for but not worth having doughnuts without coffee. They should change the name to DOUGHNUTS and NO COFFEE I would say start making some darn coffee, but forget about it. I'm not coming here anymore.

These doughnuts are more on the cakey side than light and fluffy. I prefer both but these are the best cakey doughnuts. They share parking lot with howlin rays, which means when Howlin rays is open, the parking is limited. There is parking on arroyo parkway. These are the best doughnuts in the area. I stopped by Sidecar Doughnuts last night to pick up some donuts for my sister's birthday after noticing the shop while I was in line for Howlin' Ray's, and I'm so glad I did! First of all, the donuts were absolutely delicious. Everything looked amazing, and what we tried definitely lived up to it. But what stood out to me even more than the donuts was the wonderful woman who helped me choose what to get. She was so warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming. She complimented the Christian shirt I was wearing, and from that moment, there was just something about her spirit that stood out to me. She had such a light about her, and she made me feel genuinely appreciated just for walking through the door. It was one of those small interactions that ends up meaning so much more than you expect. Before I left, I felt led to give her a little Jesus figure I had with me. It was such a sweet reminder that God can use even the simplest everyday moments--and even a stop for birthday donuts--to let His light shine through His people. God is good! Great donuts, but even better people. I'll definitely be back. read more

Somehow I think I'm more of a regular at this donut shop than anywhere else (except maybe coffee). I was so happy when they opened in Pasadena cause I wanted it, but absolutely did not want to drive to Santa Monica for donuts. Overall, I love their raised donuts and don't like the cake donuts as much. Some have been good (pumpkin cheesecake and huckleberry), others have been meh and have kind of the same flavor across... flavors (jalapeño cornbread). Most of the ones I've tried I like a lot with only a few being mid or outright awful (only the Dubai chocolate). The eggs benedict donut is a masterpiece, with a perfectly runny egg inside the fried dough puff. The maple pecan limited was really delicious, one of my favorite sweet donuts from Sidecar. Service is good and I even received a voucher for a couple free donuts when the ones I wanted were out. The best is catching a fresh, hot batch. Cute little shop with a little bit of both indoor and outdoor seating. Will continue getting my donuts here! read more
By far, Sidecar's huckleberry is the best donut I've eaten in my whole life. Their donuts are so elevated, aesthetic and tasty. Why huckberry?? Not too sweet. Perfect mix of tart and sweet Theres a crisp from the deep fried exterior, while its airy and moist on the interior Theres berries in the donut batter too! Make sure to sign up for their rewards program on their app as you get a free donut on your birthday! I went after work on a Thursday and there was a small line. It did take awhile to get to the front. Parking was difficult too since they share their parking with Howlin' Rays. read more

I've been trying avoid sugar, but I got tempted to peek a look at the vegan offering today. They have one vegan option and today it was a strawberry matcha cake donut. I tried to resist, being my indecisive and squirrelly self, and slowly tried to leave the store. Then Levi, the donut angel, just gave me one to try. I was caught off guard by her generosity and kindness, but gratefully took the donut. After all, it's not everyday people give you free donuts. I took one bite, just to taste it, but in a few minutes the whole thing vanished into by belly. It was amazing. Not too sweet, moist inside, frosty strawberry-glazed outside, matcha-y perfection. I guess my sugar-free life has ended. Then again, no one ever died saying, "I'm glad I was a skinny witch who didn't eat sugar." Free parking lot, check. Restrooms, check. Coffee, check. Horrible customer service. I asked them what the rotating flavor was, and she explained "It is a Saigon donut cake base." To which I responded with "What is a Saigon donut." She says "I just explained it to you." I still don't know what a Saigon cake base is to this day. Am I asking for too much? So much for being the "Happiest Part of My Day". Okay so now the donuts, they are fine. I'd probably pay $3-$4 per. Nothing special at all. Definitely not a $6 donut. read more

Disclaimer! I don't like donuts...so why try a donut shop? I was in line next door & we saw the Naughty Puff & thought a pizza donut?! sure! Tried the Naughty Puff I thought it was like a pizza all savory, but to my surprise the dough was sweet! this Donut puff is limited &part of a collaboration with Prince St. Pizza, stuffed with cheese pepp& sauce & topped with parm pepp and basil 2/5 bites. nice cheese pull, sweet dough savory filling but just ok not so much like the PSP pizzas'. they have so many flavours of donuts & gluten free options. read more

Very good donuts and friendly service. At $5 a donut I did expect a little more. Tried the apple fritter (Friday only), strawberry buttermilk and an old fashioned. Apple fritter was by far the best one for me. The other two were fine but seemed a little "crumbly" for me. Not the soft, light and "doughy" consistency that one expects from a doughnut. Definitely worth a try and would go back when in the neighborhood. read more

We were delighted when this location opened, because we'd fallen in love with their donuts in Del Mar. Sadly, this spot's star is fading and it no longer lives up to the hype or premium prices. While some donuts are indeed delicious, others are not even as good as one of the many mom and pop hole in the wall places. Customer service is also uneven; some employees are friendly but others are impatient, curt, and seem to not like donuts or people. In addition to the hit or miss food and service, the outdoor patio (the only available seating) is always dirty, and the small parking lot can be surprisingly challenging. Overall, it's worth at least one visit, especially if you're from out of town and want to try our upscale donut scene. For us as locals, we've had enough "meh" visits here that it's no longer in our regular rotation. read more

Came here for the sidecar X Prince street collab! That NAUGHTY PUFF caught my attention since the naughty pizza is my favorite. OVERALL it was fun to try but mostly I think I'd rather just get the pizza. HOWEVER, the donut puff portion was delicious. The puff was soft and fluffy and I can't wait to go back to try the other donuts! I was going to get the banana bread latte but they were out. Super sad face. I ended up with the VIETNAMESE COFFEE and it was good. Not too sweet! read more

Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee never misses. I've been here multiple times and somehow never wrote a review, but it's long overdue. Their donuts are a 10/10, consistently fresh, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care. The huckleberry donut is hands-down my favorite--they do it like no one else. The flavor is spot on, not overly sweet, and you can tell the ingredients are top tier. Every visit reminds me why this place stands out from every other donut shop. On top of the amazing donuts, they also offer a discount for first responders and healthcare workers (like nurses), which is genuinely appreciated and says a lot about the business. If you're in Pasadena and even remotely like donuts, this place is a must. Once you try it, you'll understand the hype. read more
There's seating outside in the back. I really enjoyed the donuts offered. They have a good amount of cake donuts which I particularly enjoy. If you get the app, you get a free drink and donut. The staff are knowledgeable, she helped us decide on which ones to choose from. I tried their popular flavors, Huckleberry and Salt and Butter. Very much enjoyed both of those. A coworker of mine recommended Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee. He says they have his favorite donuts. Thank you Sir. I was on my way here LOL. First and foremost, don't be afraid of the price. Yes, it's a bit on the higher end, but it's worth it. When choosing your gourmet donuts, get the best bang for your buck. Half a dozen for $29 Dozen for $58 For my first visit, I ended up with half a dozen. My top favorite has to be the Huckleberry... not too sweet, not too bland, just perfect! My 2nd favorite is the Butter & Salt... simple, simple, simple! My 3rd favorite is the Cookies & Creme... it was quite good. They are not your run of the mill cake donuts. They are moist... almost like a melt in your mouth donut. Highly recommend!!! As for the others, Choc-A-Lot was just a tad dry and Maple Bacon was a bit sweet. There weren't any donuts I didn't like really. As advertised, every Sidecar doughnut is made from scratch and fresh every hour. At the end of their day, they offer a bag of donuts at a discount. It's like a bag of donuts, you don't know what you're going to get. I'll have to experience the latter one day. 1 Butter & Salt* 2 Choc-A-Lot 1 Cookies & Créme 1 Huckleberry* 1 Maple Bacon For my next visit, I will get my Huckleberry again along with a handful of the other flavors as shown below. They have limited inside seating, but lots of outside patio seating. Btw, I hear their Basil Eggs Benedict is delicious. It is available in-store on Wednesdays only. Donuts were tasty but service was poor. I enjoyed the huckleberry donut. Parking can be hard to find because it is shared with howlin rays. If you download the app you can get a coupon for a free drink and a free donut, with a purchase. read more
Visiting friends and bringing them a dozen Sidecar Donuts. This place is great. Next to Howling Rays with plenty of parking. We got five huckleberry(my favorite) and 8 other random flavors. They let you try the donuts too. We will be back! Happy Yelping! read more
Ever since side car came on the scene I'd like to say around 10 years ago they have filled the gourmet donuts. I would also say that they are still my number one personal donut shop. Yeah you pay anywhere from 3 to almost 6 dollars each but the quality and taste can't be beat. The Pasadena location is the newest location for the city that has the best of everything food, only right the best donut shop comes to town. This location is right next to howlin rays which is another hyped food spot, thought the lines at sidecar are minimal. My favorite donuts that are served regularly are the huckleberry which is the one donut you try if you're really trying to see what side car is all about. Other favs are the Saigon cinnamon, cookies & cream, strawberry buttermilk and vanilla bean glazed. The vanilla bean glazed is just like your traditional glazed donut, but just a little bit more fancier and better tasting. I usually try a seasonal donut each time which I would like to say changes every two months. If your new to side car get the app, because chances are your first visit won't be your last. Lastly sidecar has the best coffee for a donut shop. Pasadena has a lot of great coffee but the coffee here is good enough that I can make one stop instead of having to make a separate stop for coffee. read more

My favorite donut spot! The donuts are always fresh and full of flavor. The coffee is solid too--I ordered the vanilla latte and it didn't disappoint. The place is on the smaller side with limited parking, but the staff is extremely friendly which makes up for it. My go-to flavors are the huckleberry and butter & salt... omg, so good! read more
Small line while waiting on a Sunday not too bad, first time here, the guys were super friendly and helpful. Explained different donuts. Fast and easy transaction. Was able to sign up on their mobile app and was gifted a steal of a deal. Free coffee and donut with purchase. We tried butter and salt - delicious The naughty puff - hard to describe and made you wonder what a pizza donut would be but it was all that and then some. Strawberry cream - nice donut light flavor Huckleberry - solid donut front runner of options and delicious. Wasn't a big fan of their coffee, had the Vietnamese coffee and it didn't seem that strong to me to have had 4 shots of espresso. read more
For unique flavored donuts that satisfy both sweet and savory, Sidecar is the place to go. Although the donuts can be pricier than your typical mom-and-pop donut shop, the seasonal and varied daily flavors can make up for it. It's a very quaint shop, with some bar-style high tables inside for standing to enjoy your donut or outdoor tables with chairs for spending a longer time there. Service is reasonably quick, with a mobile pickup area for faster service. For this visit, I got a basil eggs benedict donut. The donut itself is not a usual glazed donut- it's more like a soft doughy pastry to hold the poached egg and ham inside it. Topped with fresh basil leaves, it was a picture perfect donut. It tasted like an eggs benedict, but in donut form. Every savory bite was complemented with the rich hollandaise sauce; however, the egg was more well done than expected. We visited Sidecar on a weekend morning and I was pleasantly surprised that the line moved quickly along. Service was friendly and fast. We ordered 6 donuts and 2 teas (one warm and one cold). The donuts were decadent and delicious! Cake donuts are a personal favorite of mine so these were a treat. They have mostly outdoor seating but it was a perfect spot to catch up with a friend. Kind of a bougie-esque donut shop, but friendly people and well baked donuts make the high(er) price worth it once in awhile. I was greeted by an enthusiastic employee, offering me a sample. The sample I tried was a blueberry pancake donut. It was delicious.i wish I would have ordered it. I lit up when there was a Benedict donut, claiming it was a poached egg inside the donut. The actual donut had a great taste and texture.... although the egg was more hard boiled then poached...a minor turn off, as I don't like hard boiled eggs I had a bite of my mom's "old fashioned" donut, and it was quite good I personally was not fond of a hard boiled egg, but as a special treat donut shop, I'd recommend it read more
Visited this location for the first time. Inside is small but they have a nice outdoor seating area. I can't recommend their Butter & Salt donut enough - it's my favorite donut from here! I got to try the seasonal Banana Bread Latte. They use house made banana bread syrup which was good because it didn't have an artificial taste to it. I still think the basic latte flavors are the best but it was nice to try. read more

Sidecar is my absolute favorite donut place--ever since I tried it, I literally cannot go back to regular donuts. They have a couple of locations around LA, but my local go-to is Pasadena. The vibe is so relaxed and the staff is always super friendly. You can't go wrong here, but my absolute favorite donut of all time is their Celebration Cake. 10/10 read more
