4/26/25 How did I not drop a review here!? Oh for shame! Thandar is super awesome, friendly--always providing service with a smile. Donuts are so daRn decadent & devilishly delicious that I can't help but return over & over! Cute donut shop with retro design inside & out. The butter pistachio got me on a chokehold- it beckoned and I was hooked!!! So soft, rich, decadent but amazingly not overly sweet. Hubby really fawned over the regular peanut butter donut. Both have this captivating filling that'll bring you to your knees. Dare I say, a mouthgasm? (Stole that word from fellow Yelp Elite, Leonard). Nuff said. Run. Don't walk! Coz once they're sold out for the day, you're @$$3D out Parking can be tricky as it shares a lot that includes Paris Baguette & Bonchon. Enjoy!
Hmmm might be our new favorite donut place. This place has unique flavors such as blueberry, lemon poppy seed (although tastes more tangy & fruity). It's, as Asians like to say, not too sweet. They don't skimp on the flavor. The decor of the San Gabriel location looks dated. I know it's intentional but they could've made it look chicer. We ordered three boxes of donuts and the only girl working there gave us two coffees for free. Also, we let a couple go ahead of us since they only ordered individual donuts. Worth checking out. Price is a bit steep.
Friends came to visit tonight, and after dinner, we took them here to get some donuts from Old Ferry Donut. There were a lot of options, but we chose the Cookie and Cream Donut and Dubai Matcha. Both donuts were great, especially with the filling. Dubai Matcha Donuts are a must-have, highly recommended! Friends were satisfied with desserts after dinner!

The maple pecan, Dubai pistachio, and PB&J are my personalities. Nutty, crunchy, a little extra? That's the dream. The coffee is great, the retro vibes are giving, the merch is dangerously cute, and the staff actually seems happy to be there (hella rare!). Clean, charming, and fully responsible for my reputation as a good friend. Do not deprive yourself.
I love this place! I had it when I was in Korea and was pleasantly surprised to see one in the SGV area. The store is decorated very cutely and I love their hamster mascot. There's limited seating and I feel like most people take it to-go or go in small groups. I tried the pistachio butter and the coffee cream one and both were really great but I loved the pistachio butter the most! It had a very light and nutty texture and was mildly sweet. These donuts are pretty big and I would say one is enough! Luckily I was able to share with a few friends. Great place to stop by if you're looking for a sweet treat!
Trendy donuts! I was getting dinner with a friend in the same plaza and noticed Old Ferry Donut! I know that they opened one in the SGV but I never found the time to go. I came on a Monday late afternoon/early dinner and there were still plenty of options! They have a clear display that shows what they have left! They keep up with the food trends and had a matcha dubai and a dubai chocolate donut! I got to try a bite of the dubai chocolate and it was decent! The one that I took home was the cookies and cream one. I appreciated that the filling wasn't overly sweet and the inside was fluffy. It was still a little sweet for my opinion.
The donuts here are absolutely delicious! My favorite donut here is the butter pistachio, but all their donuts are delicious and fluffy! Service is fast. The donuts are hefty, well made, and satisfying, with fillings that are rich but balanced--sweet without being overwhelming. Quality-wise, they deliver, and it's definitely a place worth driving out for. That said, the customer service was a letdown. My wife and I both noticed it immediately upon walking in--there was no greeting at all. There wasn't much enthusiasm or explanation about the products, and the interaction felt awkward and disengaged. We even had to ask whether we were supposed to order through the machine, only to be told she would take our order instead--again, without much interaction or warmth. The blank, indifferent demeanor made the experience feel off. Honestly, given how the interaction went, it almost would have been better to rely solely on the ordering machines and have zero staff interaction altogether. The product itself is strong, but the service detracts from what could otherwise be a great experience. In short: excellent donuts that justify the price, but customer service that needs serious improvement to match the quality of the food.

I have to say this little cute bear icon/mascot is adorable and also the items that they sell have a large variety. This donut store is in the same plaza as Paris Baguette and many other stores. The place might be a little difficult if you come here on the weekend, you might have to find parking on the street. I ordered an original glazed and a pistachio donut. Both of the donuts were delicious and honestly, I wish I had ordered more!! It's ok next time! Worth it.
Was in the area and walked in to see what's new. Noticed that they now have a Dubai Chocolate Donut. It definitely caught my eye because of the craze over this trend. It looked like a chocolate donut with the classic dubai pistachio filling and cream, dusted with cocoa powder. The kadayif was very stale and not crunchy at all. The flavors were there but the crunch was missing. Not worth the $8 in my opinion. Would just stick to the Butter Pistachio Donut.

By far my FAVORITE donut shop and I love this location! -Donuts aren't too sweet and come in the best flavors. -Aesthetic and vibes are super cute! Small and cozy inside, but has seating. -Staff is friendly and helpful. -Outside plaza is nice and cute to walk around after. This is one of my favorite locations because staff is very nice and helpful and the plaza area where it's located is nice! We always stop by whenever we are in the area and usually find street parking to walk over. read more
Old Ferry is located in a small plaza with a designated parking lot. They have a large selection of donut flavors!! Of the donuts I ordered the stand outs for me were the Butter Pistachio and the Dubai Matcha Donut. The Butter Pistachio is a staple, offering a nutty exterior with a sweet creme filling inside. The donuts are light so you can eat a lot!! I also enjoyed the Dubai Matcha, it wasn't too sweet and had a subtle matcha flavor with a flakey interior to add to the texture. So yummy!! read more
I recently discovered this donut shop while looking for something beyond the usual traditional flavors and I'm glad I did. Everything I tried had just the right level of sweetness without being overpowering. I ordered: Butter Pistachio donut Crème Brûlée donut Peanut Butter & Jelly donut Peanut Butter donut Onion Sesame (2) All of the donuts were delicious, with unique flavors that really stand out. I haven't tried everything yet, but I'm definitely on a mission to come back and work my way through the menu. My all time favorite is the Onion Sesame flavor. But all in all they were all very good. Customer service was excellent, and the shop itself has a really trendy, welcoming vibe. Overall a great find! read more

Yum. My friend's daughter really wanted to try old ferry doughnut while we were in the LA area. I'm glad we did! We tried a variety of donuts and all were delicious. Surface was quick and friendly, and the location was clean and bright. read more

Donuts are yummy! Came here on a whim over the weekend. First thing I noticed was the door handle. The inside was also very clean. I'm assuming the owner of the shop was the one working if I remembered correctly. He was really nice and friendly. Recommended some options to me as I wasn't sure what to get. I ended up selecting the pistachio one for myself and the coconut one for my husband. I also was captured by the brightness of the raspberry flavored donut, so I got that too. All 3 were amazing but the pistachio was my favorite. We will be back. read more

Our favorite is the tiramisu cream and raspberry filling! These donuts are fresh, light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Some flavors are sweeter than others. I arrived about an hour before closing and was surprised to still find a good selection of donuts available. This shop offers a unique variety of donuts to choose from. I chose the following donuts: Creme Brulee, Milk Cream Ball, Peanut Butter, Butter Pistachio, Tiramisu, and Mango Cream Ball. Let's start with the Creme Brulee. This was one of the donuts I was most excited to try. The outside had a crackly sugar crust, while the inside held a generous amount of custard cream. I thoroughly enjoyed the custard cream, but I wasn't a fan of the exterior of the donut. Next up is the Milk Cream Ball. The outside was coated with sugar, while the inside contained rich milk cream. The cream wasn't very sweet but had a strong milk flavor. It was complemented nicely by the sugar coating. This donut showcased a delicate balance that was very well executed. Now, for the Peanut Butter Donut. This was filled with a rich, nutty peanut butter cream. It was sweet, but not overbearing. Definitely a solid pick for peanut butter lovers. Time to talk about my favorite: the Butter Pistachio Donut. This was a butterscotch-glazed donut filled with pistachio cream. The rich filling paired with the buttery glaze and nutty crunch was absolute heaven! Next up was my second favorite: the Tiramisu Donut. A coffee-glazed donut dusted with cacao powder and filled with creamy mascarpone. It was smooth, rich, and dessert-like. An ideal blend of sophistication and indulgence. What I Ordered: -Tiramisu Donut $5.75 Old Ferry Donut was founded in Seoul in 2016 as South Korea's first craft donut brand and has since expanded to several locations in the US. We visited the plaza for lunch and I wanted a quick dessert. I asked the staff for recommendations, and the Tiramisu Donut was suggested. It was a great choice! I really enjoyed the Tiramisu Donut. It's dusted with cacao powder and filled with a creamy mascarpone cream, which reminded me of a Boston Cream donut, but without the chocolate frosting. Unique flavors and a decadent treat -- would recommend coming here with others and splitting different donuts to try them all. parking: free lot outside seating: small tables inside the shop outlets: available near indoor seating wifi: free ambiance: very quiet when we went during the mid-morning drinks: iced cream latte -- pretty sweet, not a strong coffee flavor. Would recommend just splurging on the donuts and not focus on their drinks. donuts*: both flavors we tried are quite sweet, but have a great soft crumb and are very fun to try. *butter pistachio -- soft bite with a subtle texture from the crumble on top. *tiramisu -- smooth chocolate frosting on top with sweet custard in the center. read more
I came on a Thursday at around 6:30PM. The parking lot is a hit or miss. I luckily found parking but my friend had to circle the area for a little bit. It's a very cute small shop with plenty of options. Some seating inside and 2 tables outside. The cashier was super sweet. The donuts are displayed with each of their prices labeled. The bread part of the donut is soft, fluffy and not too sweet!!! The fillings are really up to personal preference but I thought they were just ok. Raspberry ball- raspberry jam, very sweet, it was giving smuckers straight from the jar (didn't like) Mango ball- mango cream similar to Asian mango cake filling (I did like this one!!), not too sweet Boston creme- not as much filling as the others, sweeter than mango but not too sweet (just ok, not that special) Didn't get to try the coffee one unfortunately! The donut bread is nice and fluffy but it's only 10% of the donut and there's SO much filling (which is great if you love your filling and sucks if you don't) I'd be willing to come back and try some other flavors but the parking lot is sooooo tiny and hard to find parking so it'd have to be when it's not busy! read more
We have been buying donuts from OFD since they arrived to this location in San Gabriel. SOLID. They are devoured same day in our household. The staff are chill and friendly and the shop is always clean and tidy. What I will tell you is that every donut is expertly made with the perfect amount of chew, not overly sweet and as fresh as can be. We value quality in the food we eat and believe you definitely get what you pay for at Old Ferry Donut. Try their coffee drinks as well. We tried their famous butter pistachio donut as well as hazelnut chocolate, cookies & cream, and crème brûlée! I was very impressed because these aren't ordinary donuts. They're filled! Honestly, I understand the hype with their butter pistachio. It's become my favorite flavor. It's not overly sweet either. The pistachio topping has a nice subtle crisp & goes well with the creme filling. Highly recommend getting this one! Hazelnut chocolate looked so decadent I had to get it. If you're a fan of chocolate, this flavor is definitely for you! You get a chocolate outer shell AND it also has chocolate filling. Cookies & cream was rly good too. Not only it's topped with Oreos & crème but even the filling too! Crème brûlée had a nice custard filling with a nice sugar topping! Overall, they're so generous with their toppings & filling but it's not overly sweet at all. & their donuts are so soft! I highly recommend coming here for your sweet cravings! read more
First time trying this Donnie place after my daughter kept asking for it. The place is quaint and cute. I ordered the butter pistachio and it is sooooo good! I was expecting it to be sugary sweet but it isn't at all, even with the filling. It was lightly sweet and buttery, a very delicious unexpected experience. My 7 year old got the choco donut with pecan sprinkles on top and loved it as well. Will definitely be back to try more flavors. read more
I was next door to this donut shop and decided to check it out since my friend had told me it was good. I came here an hour before closing, so they didn't have much flavors left for the day, but I was able to get their butter pistachio donut to-go. The packaging was so cute, it came in this orange box which perfectly housed the donut, which I appreciated compared to if a single box was served in a paper bag. The box just elevated the experience and prevented the topping to rub off the donut. I got the donut to go, and was in and out of the store within 5 minutes, but I saw that they sold drinks as well, which I would be curious to try next time. The butter pistachio donut was good, although pretty sweet. I shared one donut amongst two people which I thought was more than enough. It was a bit salty, which I liked because it balanced out the sweetness, but I couldn't really taste the pistachio much. I still really liked the donut, it was fluffy, big, and the topping to dough ratio was good. This store is located in a plaza with parking, although the plaza does get busy so there's parking in the back as well. The donut is ~$5 which is expensive for a donut, but the size is big and they offer special asian-inspired flavors, so I think it's a nice treat to get every once in a while. read more
Loved everything about Old Ferry Donut! Amazing that's all I gotta say! I think everything I ordered was as equally good as the other. Still, we got some favorites up in here! Located in the corner of a small plaza on West Los Tunas drive where big flavors collide nests this amazing donuttery. Walked in and was immediately greeted and just off the vibe and decor I was like this place is the jam! They got lots of flavor, and what I most enjoyed was you don't feel nasty after consuming their donut. Usually other places make you feel sick from all the sugar intake. Old Ferry Donut felt lite and just right. Nothing seemed over glutinous. Tbh you could have two donuts and still feel alright(wink wink). So my wife was craving something sweet and so was I, so box of four please! Crème Brûlée, Butter Pistachio, Tiramisu, and hazelnut choco! All slapped in their own way. Nothing was a fail. Each donut had its wow factor after each bite. Now my favorite was the Tiramisu and Butter Pistachio. Remember when I said they feel lite. Pricing was usual, not like that random hole in the wall donut shop. Old Ferry Donut put more love and attention to their donuts. Very esthetic, kinda like those fancy donut shop but without paying your arm and leg(at least I think). I think every donut was under 5 bucks, which was a great deal. I've been meaning to try this place and finally stopped in today. They had a great spread of different donuts, a lot of them cream-filled. I got the butter pistachio and the onion sesame donut. The butter pistachio lives up to the hype. Seriously. It's mildly nutty (not a very strong pistachio flavor), lightly sweet, and fluffy. The donut itself was very light and airy and so was the cream inside. It was such a delight to eat lol. The onion sesame donut looked like a bagel with the everything seasoning on it, and it was filled with whipped green onion cream cheese. Also very good with a creamy onion-y flavor. I think they might have brushed a syrup over the top of the donut because there was some sweetness to balance the saltiness of the topping. Service was very quick and friendly. It's a small chain but a very good chain at that. This store has all the flavors you would make up in a dream, thus you can stand at the counter for awhile trying to decide what you might want to try... yep, we were one of those Customers who kept changing their mind, then asked the friendly and tolerant staff what were the top sellers and then their favorites. Luckily there was no one in line behind us. Had the Butter Pistachio, Mango Cream, Chocolate Cream, Coffee Cream, Almond Salted Caramel, Strawberry Cream, Matcha Cream, ... All different and unique and good. Fav was the Butter Pistachio as the cream was buttery, salty, sweet! Easy parking at the SGV site with plenty of other places to eat at. Staff is extremely helpful, place is bright and clean with a few tables in and out for you to gain some pounds. read more

Butter pistachio 4/5 - really light and fluffy, the cream is also light and not overbearing. But didn't taste any pistachio flavor! Not even little crumbles of it. Cookies and cream- husband really liked this one! Salted caramel- this was his favorite. Again, the fillings aren't too sweet which is what I worry about with a filled donut. The almonds on top would be better if they were crispy! Lemon poppyseed 4/5 tasted like real lemons! Not the artificial lemon flavoring. Light donut, refreshing! I tried the lemon poppy donut, which was good quality. I ordered a hot American and the espresso was standard. Not amazing, not bad. Parking can be rough when it gets packed, but you can usually find street parking within walking distance. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come back. You're probably better off trying a local donut shop instead. read more
I did not expect to like these donuts this much. I'm not a huge donut fan but I was craving it for some reason so I chose Old Ferry Donut to satisfy my craving. I knew the butter pistachio was a popular flavor so I had no doubts about that choice, but I wanted to make it more fun so I added a raspberry ball and earl gray to my box. The butter pistachio was undoubtedly my favorite. It's light and airy even though it's stuffed with pistachio cream and glazed with butter scotch and sprinkled with pistachio crumbs. My next favorite was, surprisingly, the raspberry ball. The jam filling is perfectly tart to complement the sweet raspberry glaze on top. The earl gray is also a solid choice but I'm partial to yeast donuts over cake donuts. They did encapsulate the earl gray flavor very well though. Cute speciality donut spot! We stopped by here after lunch and the girl who helped us was super friendly. We ordered the butter pistachio and the tiramisu donut. Total came out to be around $11 for both. Butter pistachio: this one was good! It had a lot of filling and you could taste the pistachio flavor. My toddler liked this one. Tiramisu: this one didn't have as much cream filling and it didn't really taste like marscapone. The glazed part of the donut was a bit dry. I probably wouldn't order this again. Overall, there's a variety of specialty donuts offered here. I'll probably come back in the future to try some other flavors. read more
After having a delightful soy pudding dessert at Half & Half Good Old Time in Mission View Plaza, I was looking for some shade and a place to sit. I saw a table and a couple chairs in front of a shop called Old Ferry Donut (South Korea's first premium donut brand). So I sat down for a minute or so not thinking to go inside since I already had dessert. However, I saw two groups of people walking into this donut shop. I was now curious. What kind of intriguing donuts do they serve? Linh's Inquirier wants to know. I took the bait and walked inside LOL. It was on Mother's Day 2025 and they had a Mother's Day Special... 6 pre-selected premium donuts for $28 which is a few dollars of savings compared to you selecting your 6 donuts of choice (price ranges from $3+ and higher per donut). Anyway, I went with the special after getting some great details on the donuts from the owner (I think he is the owner, but not 100% sure). Thanks for the donut info! Mother's Day Special Box of 6 came with Butter Pistachio (I love pistachio, but this one did not come through for me. I can't really pin point why I didn't like it. Maybe I'll give it another try next time.), Cookies and Cream (good amount of oreo cookies topping with the right amount of cream filling... my 2nd pick!), Creme Brulee (I was actually surprised I didn't care for this one since I love creme brulee... it didn't have the creme brulee flavor I'm used to eating from the actual dessert), Matcha Ball (I didn't get to try this one... maybe next time), Milk Cream Ball (perfectly light, creamy, and sweet... my #1 favorite pick!), and Tiramisu (love the outside half crunch... my 3rd pick!). My daughters love cookies and cream so I asked the nice gentleman to switch out the matcha ball donut with another cookies and cream. He was so kind to do it for me. Thank you so much sir! Overall, staff and service were wonderful and expeditious, respectively. Donuts were unique and each had its own take on the flavor. One good thing is that they don't skimp on the filling. Well done! They also sell coffee, cold brew, tavalon tea, and other speciality drinks and Old Ferry inspired swags. They have inside seating, too. Free parking is shared with other businesses. I would come back here for more milk cream balls and also to try their other flavors. Btw, their mascot is not a bear. It's a hamster! Good Old Ferry!! (I'm assuming that is its name). Came to get a sweet treat after lunch and was really intrigued by the earl grey donut. I was very disappointed because I couldn't taste any of the earl grey! Even though I couldn't see it sprinkled on top of the donut. It mostly just tasted like a glazed cake donut which is fine but I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't get it again. Otherwise, the location is very nicely decorated and styled. They have some merch you can purchase and they have a wide variety of flavors, may be I just picked the wrong one lol. Their brand is super cute and I can see it being a nice thing to gift someone or to bring into the office but again, I was mainly disappointed based off of the specific donut I got lol. On Yelp it says that closing time is at 9 but I showed up to the SG location right at 8 and they were closing up. Is the time on Yelp incorrect?
Supposedly, they do close at 9pm, but that's if they don't sell out. The actual closing time is "til they are sold out or 9pm, whichever came first"
Is it better to get there at a certain time (before they sell out)?
i wouldn't say there is a set time each day but go early if you want the best selection
Do they have the merch section like they do at the location in Buena Park!?
