I tried several different places for the first year in my new town, but when I met Kaitlin, I knew she was it! For a few years prior, I had been toying with the idea of abandoning the dark brown hair that I had been dying for the past 30 years and going natural (yes, gray...or as I prefer to think of it-dark brown with a lot of silver highlights!). I wasn't sure about it because hair has always kind of been my thing. I didn't want to age myself more than necessary, but was getting tired of having to have my hair dyed every three weeks. Plus, I was beginning to think that I no longer could pull off such a dark color any longer. Every time I mentioned doing this to the many stylists I had gone to previously, they were very discouraging. However, when I floated the idea to Kaitlin, she said, "Oh my gosh, YES! You would look wonderful!" She was more excited than I was, truly! She instructed me to wait to come back to her for 8 weeks to let the natural color come shining through. On the big day, I settled in for a very long appointment. 125 or 126 foils later, I was looking a lot less dark brown and more grayish/light brown. I liked it a lot. Since that initial appointment, I have gone back for trims and toning. My hair has become a beautiful shade of silver as it has continued to grow out. That, along with the haircut by this supremely talented stylist have me looking and feeling great about my hair. It has been a little over a year now. I absolutely LOVE my new look, have much healthier hair, and am so happy that I visited Jon Alan Salon and was lucky enough to randomly be assigned to Kaitlin. Lily was lovely and everything but one thing is the personality the other is the execution of work. The place: people go to have a facial or massage in a place that is zen and quiet. It's a space for healing and focus. There's no privacy. The working areas are separated by panels. There are no doors but curtains facing the checkout counter. I could hear the next door client chatting with her esthetician nonstop. For that you go to therapy or simply have that session at home. It was distracting and extremely annoying. The choice of music and volume not okay. It gave me the impression these people wants to make quick money without having proper practice and real experience. They have lovely massage chairs and TVs positioned everywhere if you prefer to zone out as they work on your nails. They let you look and give you a mirror to check if there are any hairs left on your body. If you see some speak up. I had a time, not with Micah, where I saw some hair and the esthetician was more than happy to wax that area. Pain? Seriously, it's a wax and they do hurt. Everyone's pain tolerance is different but they are in no control over your pain.
