This has become my go to place for gel manicures. I love this place, they always do such a great job and are willing and able to do almost any design i ask for. The polish lasts, and doesn't chip or turn yellow like other salons I've been to. There is usually a wait because they are busy, its best to go earlier in the day. The owner here has to be one of the nastiest nails owners I have ever came across in the business. Not friendly- doesn't appreciate her loyal and long standing customers. When you call or show to your appointment is as if she's doing you the favor . Not even an acknowledgement , no thank you for your business. It's ok for the salon to be a few minutes late , but god forbid if you're late she will call you out in front of other customers. My first time going here since I just moved into Staten Island. My nail tech was very nice but I feel I was taken advantage of. I got a new set fairly short not to long acrylic set and 2 colors of gel polish. I was told couple different prices but what I paid definitely wasn't what I was told 80$ not including tip. My boyfriend payed it and tipped in cash. On our way out another nail tech shouted in front of everyone that where was I going and I need to tip. I was baffled because we did tip. My nail tech also informed her I did. It was embarrassing and if it wasn't for my boyfriend I had plenty to say about the disrespect. Never ever had I been yelled at over a tip which I did give. When I noticed I panicked and begrudgingly asked her to just match the other hand and not do anything else. All cities have great nail places, for sure, but I've honestly never found a pedicure comparable to the one that Mint Nails offers - and I'm talking about their base level pedi! I can't believe I just got scammed by this place. I did a gel manicure and my daughter had a regular pedicure. I don't like carrying cash but I didn't want to pay extra for using my credit card, so I went to the bank and withdrew $40. long story short, my daughter gives me $40 of her money, as I go to pay I understood the price was $62, so I gave her $80 and she gave me back $8. I went to ask my daughter how much was her pedicure was because I thought it was a bit pricey, she tells me $25 so I go back to tell her that I gave her $80 because I thought she said it was $62. they proceeded to check their camera and say I only gave them $60, and that the price was $52, when there wasn't proof to show the exact amount I gave her, and she did not double count on the camera. Instead of checking their register or telling me when they check the register at night if it's $20 over they can call me, they decided to steal from a customer. i hope it was worth it, my daughters and i will no longer be affiliated with this place. read more

I went there a few days ago and my nails still look amazing! I've been to many of the other nail salons on the island because of the distance, but I always come back to this one. The wait is kind of long, but I recommend making an appointment if you're a little impatient. The day I went it was busy and it just shows how many people prefer coming here than other salons near the area. I love their large color selection too! They always have new colors that are hard to find in other nail salons, and I noticed they don't charge extra for the new colors unlike other places. This was my go-to, they really bite off more than they can chew with their wait times. They'll tell you it's about 5-10 min wait, but you'll end up waiting 25-30 minutes. Also, there's no logic to their system. They'll take on girls that came after you with no appt. when asked how much longer, they'll tell you 5 minutes every time. I've been coming here for years and in general it's always been a good experience. This place is much better than any other place on the Lane. The turnover is high so you'll always get someone different for a pedicure. On a rare occasion I'll hit upon someone who isn't great, but they're not there the next time I return. Never in my life have I been to such a horrible nail salon. I went in for an acrylic filling on Friday 1.5.18. I had a couple of nails that were lifting. All she did (the owner) was continue to do my filling and glue down the lifted nails as if that were going to fix it. I insisted that she needed to cut off the lifting parts of the nail and fill them in with acrylic as I did not like merely crazy gluing it (I could do that myself). She proceeded to get an attitude with me while she cut off the lifted part on ONLY one nail. Honestly, I regret even paying for the horrible service I was provided. So I was told to come top mint nails from a cousin who said this place was really good. I walk in, my pedicure was out of this world, but I'm so pissed off about my nails. I am going to Cuba on monday for a week and so I decided to get my nails done Friday(yesterday). Michelle was my nail tech. I wanted tips, powder color, and i wanted my nails matte. First she put the tips on crooked, she fixed it, and after that they came out looking fine. I went home after being there for 3 hours getting my feet and nails done. I literally start packing my bag the moment I get home and notice my thumb nail is chipped and the rhinestone is missing from my ring finger. Mind u, I'm packing clothing, so nothing should be able to chip or ruin my nails especially since i got GEL matte topcoat. I woke up today, went in at 12ish, they filed it down, put a new stone, and fixed my thumb. I run my last minute errands before heading to work, get to work, and literally around 6pm I notice my thumb is chipped even WORSE than it chipped yesterday!!! Im furious because my flight is monday morning and I work tomorrow all day so I can't even get them to fix it!! If I pay $90 for a full set and pedicure, I expect my nails to last 2 to 3 weeks!!! And they looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told them about it. Clean salon with great service and prices. Came in here on a Monday afternoon for a pedicure ($15) and a UV Gel manicure ($25). The place was empty, so my friend and I were able to get in right away. We came here because I wanted to try out the UV Gel manicure. I was tired of getting my nails done only to have the polish start to chip away less than a week later. They are able to match the gel with polish for your toes so you don't have to mismatch (unless you want to). I am not disappointed. I used to go before it was less busy. It is very clean & the pedicures were always good, but the wait was getting too long. What made me stop going was when I tried getting my eyebrows waxed & they said it was a 5 minute wait. The wait was much longer, so my sister & I asked again. I love it here! I've tried so many nail places on SI, only to have my nails break or my polish chip in a few days. Not the case here! When I had tips, they lasted until my next visit. I got rid of my tips because the manicurists told me my nails needed a rest after so many years of tips. They now do gel manicures on me. Which means less money for them, but is better for me. My mother and I have been coming to Mint Nails since it opened... yes, since it OPENED. They are a basic operation - manicure, pedicure, waxing - but they do basic RIGHT. Their gel manicures last my mother, grandmother and I ( yes all three generations now go) 3-4 weeks without any signs of wear and tear ( just natural nail growth). Their pedicures are fantastic for your quick basic pedicure. I even used to get waxed here.. and they do good job. The only downside is... you MUST make an appointment! I strongly suggest an appointment because they are ALWAYS busy. If not, you run the risk of waiting for well over 20 minutes. The staff is always friendly, gracious and professional - the salon is kept very clean. They disinfect all the tubs after every pedicure, and tools after every manicure. LOVE them. It was a full hour and included: foot soak, lengthy massage that lasted about 15 min, exfoliant, hot towels, and heated oil for your heels. The Pedicures are only $25 but what you are taking home is the shaping of your toes and the polishing. That's the part the pedicurist fails at. If the nails are crooked and the polish is streaky it's not worth it no matter how much they massage and exfoliate your legs. I've used a different technician every time over a period of months.
