The manager told me that the scrap metal person had come and picked up the old muffler that morning after not having picked up for two weeks. According to Michigan law, "Along with an itemized final invoice, the law entitles the customer to all replaced parts. If the customer neither asks for a replaced part nor authorizes you to throw it away - in other words, he or she does not mention the part - you must keep it for two business days after the vehicle is picked up" (https://www.michigan.gov/-/media/Project/Websites/sos/27lawensn/ar0097.pdf?rev=29663b032c484b49a2610f79d58212da) This may well have been an honest mistake, but the shop clearly did not follow the guidelines under Michigan law. On the positive side, I came in without a prior appointment, and they were able to work me in. I received the service I requested, but I was curious about the old muffler and would like to have been able to inspect it.

He was not good, didn't know what he was talking about, quoted us about 4X the typical pricing. We said no way and asked for a reschedule with our usual guy. The date finally came for our usual guy and they sent someone else! They can't even get the scheduling right and don't seem to have as many reliable/good employees anymore.

I took it to Ann Arbor Toyota and after a few days of having my car they came back and told me that it was going to cost $2800 for rear calipers, rotors, and pads. Seriously??? I called DC Side Street and let them know I was really in a bind and needed to get my brakes fixed and asked them if they could possibly get my car in asap due to not being able to drive it. I told them about the situation and Chris told me be here at 8am the next morning. I was running late due to getting my car late and not being able to tow it. I drove it from Ann Arbor Toyota back roads to get it in. They literally had my car fixed that day by 4pm. They did this because they care about their customers and know that word of mouth is how they get new customers. Oh I didn't mention, they did my brakes do a fraction of the price, literally over half the price of what Ann Arbor Toyota quoted me. I will forever be a loyal customer to this place.
