Took my Ford Focus in because the welding job on my new cat back exhaust came apart near the muffler and pipe! It was holding on by a thread, they re-welded it, put another bracket on to hold it up better (because I guess it was missing one) and put a new gasket on because originally it was the wrong one! My daughter's car was a bit loud so I brought the car to Midas. They looked at the car and said the muffler required replacement. When I went to pick up the car, I asked to see the old muffler. The manager told me that the scrap metal person had come and picked up the old muffler that morning after not having picked up for two weeks. According to Michigan law, "Along with an itemized final invoice, the law entitles the customer to all replaced parts. If the customer neither asks for a replaced part nor authorizes you to throw it away - in other words, he or she does not mention the part - you must keep it for two business days after the vehicle is picked up" (https://www.michigan.gov/-/media/Project/Websites/sos/27lawensn/ar0097.pdf?rev=29663b032c484b49a2610f79d58212da) This may well have been an honest mistake, but the shop clearly did not follow the guidelines under Michigan law. On the positive side, I came in without a prior appointment, and they were able to work me in. I had a wheel alignment scheduled. When I arrived, not only did they not have me in the schedule although I had a confirmation, they told me that their alignment rack was out of service. They had my phone number, they could've called me so I didn't have to make the trip out there early morning. Don't waste your time. read more

Warning: Very dishonest business. My son's car broke down, right front wheel failed. He had it towed to Midas. Midas charged him $170 to "look at it" to see what was wrong with it. They said it needed $5,800 of front end suspension work. We had it towed to the house so I could look at it. I fixed the car with one $60 lower ball joint from AutoZone. Do not trust these people. Again they said $5,800 (not a typo - five thousand eight hundred dollars) to fix it. I fixed it for $60. They are trying to rip people off, do not have your car serviced here. read more

My car lost his brakes. I had the car sent to Midas. They worked with you to help make the repairs affordable for him. but I was blown away when I received the report via text. When I opened it up, it opened the entire report of what they found. Pictures and videos, showing that it was his car and showing the problems that they had. It made it very easy to make the decision, and he was at ease because he knew that the problem was real. I don't recommend going to any other shop dealership or Fly By Night outfit until they do the same thing. The future is here and the future is Midas! too much identifying information on the front page. I came here because I moved to the area and had previously been a super loyal customer of the Midas in Westland (which is fantastic). I have since learned that all Midas locations are not created equal! If you just need an oil change or something and you know that's going to be it, this place is fine. That's the only reason I gave it two stars. ALL other service is one star. These people will try to make you think you need expensive repairs done every. single. time. After every oil change I've had there (I've had three), I've taken my car somewhere else to get a second opinion, and EVERY TIME it's turned out that my car was fine. The last time I was there they even told me they couldn't give me a tire rotation because there was so much damage, but I took it next door to Meineke (which I definitely recommend over Midas) for my next oil change and didn't say anything about it, and guess what? Tires rotated and no mention of any damage at all. read more

My car's "Check the engine" lighted on this morning. I did not want to risk the engine and took to Midas near Maple Rd (recommended by friend before) I was told that it would cost $80 to diagnose. After an hour, "The cap of the gas tube detached, we can help you change the cap, but we won't charge the $80 diagnose fee. " Honesty is the most important element. I went in to get an oil change. I got the oil change, but then I was told that my brakes needed work. They quoted about $600 for parts and labor. I said I'd consult with my husband, and didn't get it done. Something seemed suspicious, and I wasn't about to drop $600, just like that. My husband ended up taking our car elsewhere, because it was closer to his work. The guy at the other place said our brakes are fine, and we'd probably get another 2 to 3 years out of them. He didn't even charge us. Err! Not cool Midas! Never going back here again. read more

Best mechanics ever. I have taken my car in three times now for things I was sure were wrong only to be called and told my car is in great shape and didn't need the repairs. I recently was told at Belle tire that all my "ball joints" were cracked and needed to be replaced. I took it to Midas who spent the morning looking at it and told me that there was nothing wrong with the ball joints or anything else and gave me a recommendation of where to get an alignment where I wouldn't be swindled. These guys are honest, respectful, funny, and know how to run a good business and keep customers. As a woman who knows nothing about cars I usually dread going to the mechanic because I feel totally at their mercy since I know nothing. Everyone I've interacted with at Midas has explained things simply to me but in a respectful way. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. read more

I had an old 92 Toyota Corolla and those guys kept it in superb condition without trying to JACK me, like some of the other companies did in Ann Arbor/ Ypsi. Because of their honesty, humor, and personal touches, I TRUST them with my newer car and feel very comfortable with the advice they give me. I could go on all day, but these guys have always shown me love, and have even come to my house one day when the shop was full and my car wouldn't start! In my three year experience living in Ace Deuce, they are the best in town... HANDS DOWN. You do have to go early or "catch" them because they don't do appts and they can fill up pretty quickly. I have never experienced racism this overt in Ann Arbor. While waiting in the lobby for an oil change I never received, I was watching the Kwame Kilpatrick verdict coming out on the news. I was joined by several of the employees, including the heavyset grey-bearded man who had grunted at me when I first came in, as well as another customer. The subject of conversation turned to Detroit, at which point the bearded man exclaimed, "They ought to just throw a bunch of scraps downtown and let the (n-word, rhyming with biggers) fight over them." Proud of his own 'cleverness,' he repeated the statement. I got up, got my keys, and told them I was taking my business elsewhere. NEVER go here. Had my brakes replaced here, took about half a day and was right under $600. Everything went smoothly until a few days later I noticed whenever I was backing up I'd hear a loud honking noise, louder than a bus and more grating sounding. I took it back and they checked it out in an hour or two for free and said it was a fluke and they made some adjustments that should help possibly. In the end it did not help and they still screech like a dying goose. My guess is they don't have exact parts and instead use compatible ones and in this case that's the side effect. read more

Very satisfied. I called for quotes, spoke to Valerie who was pleasant, courteous and efficient. Didn't make me feel like I was bothering her like some dealers do. Service was done promptly, and they even fixed a leaky tire, N/C. The cost was reasonable, the service done on time, and there was no up selling, which most folks dread. I'm sorry to have to update my review, which was previously glowing & positive, but I was recently talked into a ton of repairs at this Midas that cost more than the car is worth. I allowed myself to be talked into it because I thought I had always been treated fairly before, but not only did they con me into paying more than I should, they also did a shoddy job of the repairs! Even the oil change was done poorly - they overfilled it, which could have done even more damage to my older car. So not happy. I might go back to get a few things fixed on the repairs I've already paid for that were done wrong, but I don't even trust these guys to change my oil. Do NOT go here. read more

Went in to get my brakes/tires looked at. Explained the problem to one of the technicians. The left side of my car was making a loud screeching noise after about 5mi of driving(so obviously something was heating up). I explained that I didn't know what the issue was but had thrown out the idea of a wheel bearing being worn down and that the sound disappeared once the brake was applied. Now, hearing that from somebody would maybe think to check that area as well since they would be under the vehicle already. It was recommended that my rear tires to be replaced so I had decided to get all 4 at the same time. Instead of diagnosing the problem or trouble shooting by examining areas where the sound could be coming from the mechanics threw the 4 new tires on and replaced a wheel bearing. No questions asked. After picking up my vehicle the next day, I noticed the problem was not resolved and another one had popped up. Midas then moved the backing plate(now its a problem) to hopefully resolve the problem. Drove it the next day the same squeaking, loud noise was still a constant noise when turning left. Took my vehicle to another shop where other "problems" had come up and they couldn't diagnose it either. I was so fed up I then took it to the dealer and they actually took the wheels off and examined the brake pads(should've been done at Midas). My brake pads were completely worn down to the metal where you could see shiny wearing on the rotor where something was obviously rubbing against. I will not be back at this Midas and will stay away from the "wheels and brakes experts". Extremely frustrating since I got hosed for over $1200 to have a vehicle that was in the same condition the minute I brought it in. I could tell by the body language that this was frustrating for the mechanics since they would be working on my car a second time. Called the Midas to inform them of the problem and there seemed to be lack of sympathy. read more

I am editing my negative review. I had suspicions because they recommended replacing the oil pan gasket and when I returned home it appeared to be leaking from the oil pan--a problem that didn't exist before I took it in for the oil change. However, it turns out the dripping oil was just spill over during the oil change. After a few times driving it, the spilled oil burned off. So, now my only minor complaint about the service was that they made a bit of a mess with the oil. I've had my cars serviced there in the past with generally good experiences. read more

I have gone to this particular Midas for a few years now and I've had a great experience every time. It is refreshing to get an oil change without being told that my car needs all sorts of work. Granted, my car has fairly low mileage, but I have been to other repair shops that seem to think my car is in shambles despite it being only a couple years old. I drop my car off for an oil change, and I pick it up and only pay for an oil change. No, I'm not joking. They also saved me a TON of money when they recommended new tires, even though my tires were only a year old. I told them I just recently got all new tires, and they were surprised and concerned. They told me to go back to the place I bought them, because the warranty covers tread wear, and I should be able to get my tires replaced. I highly recommend this Midas, and after years of being cheated by other auto shops, I am relieved to find a place I trust. read more

I drive up to Midas to get a free diagnostic check. Besides the fact that they tried to over charge me for some minor fixes.. They tell me it's going to cost $500 to put my car back on the road "safely" when I drove into the shop perfectly fine. They wouldn't release my car back to me unless I pay them or call a tow truck. I use my last freaking roadside service (I like to use for real roadside emergencies) to get my car back it ridiculous the amount of stress they caused me this afternoon. NEVER AGAIN read more

Don't go here if you want to be treated like a human being. I got a car (my first car) in August 2015 which I took there to get my brakes repaired by recommendation of the other owner. That went okay, I wouldn't say anywhere near outstanding, because I felt belittled by the male staff as I talked to them about my car. I took it back, however, because I was having trouble starting it occasionally. They SHOWED ME HOW TO TURN THE KEY, as if I didn't know, and then laughed at me. They couldn't find any problems with the car, so I took it home, where it would not start for about two days. Eventually it started and I promptly took it to Midas, where it continually started. They did not believe me that my car wouldn't start. They said "maybe I should get a new car" and laughed at me. I have never experienced this poor customer service EVER. I had to leave because I was so angry. They kept it there for a few days and found no problem, so I picked it up. I said "when I get home, this isn't going to start, and I'm going to call you." They laughed at me again, so I drove it home, parked in the driveway, and a few minutes later it wouldn't start. When I called them, they sent someone over to my house and I watched him jiggle the shifter violently as he turned the key. I pointed out that he jiggled the shifter, and he said that "we do that to make sure it's in park". I told him to try starting it WITHOUT doing that, and when he did, it wouldn't start. Turns out my shifter was broken, and a few months later the transmission shot. So, $1000 and lots of belittling, sexist service later, I found out what was wrong with my own car. Will NEVER return to Midas. read more

Took my car there because I was having tire troubles, and they give free inspections. Upon inspection they told me that I needed new coils and struts on both of the front tires and it would end up being ~$800. I decided to go get it looked at by a dealership, who fixed it for $150, and said there was nothing wrong with the other tire. Just the left one needed a new coil, and that was it. If you aren't car savvy, they will try to gouge you, and this is the kind of business that would lead me never to return. read more

The quote they gave me was very good (I have compared to other shops) and they were not trying to talk me into other services that I didn't need. I have come here a couple of times, and they have always been really good. Most recently they fixed a noisy exhaust pipe that the dealership had said I should fix by replacing the whole exhaust system. They welded the part back together, made the noise disappear, and didn't charge me a dime. That seriously made my day! They are honest, quick, and thorough. They're more interested in repeat business than in hitting you with expensive parts and labor charges. read more

Went in to replace the car battery which was done quickly, plus, they were open on a holiday weekend. When we were in the car, paid, and about to leave, we noticed there was no heat or radio. Our mechanic worked for over an hour and found that a fuse had blown but was mislabeled; the fuse that keeps heat and radio was confused with the back up lights. We are grateful for the time he spent to help us on a very busy Saturday. read more
