After calling around, many places weren't producing right now, or if they are they told us to come in a week or two during Maple Weekend. When I called, I was told much the same -- they weren't boiling at the time, and might not until later in the day because they needed more sap -- but told me to absolutely bring my parents and they'd get a personal tour. We showed up around 6pm on a Sunday, and were greeted with open arms. They weren't open to the public at the time (that would be the next two weekends) but gave us a tour and answered all of our questions anyway. My parents were impressed by their hospitality and openness to discuss their craft and made us all fans of Dry Brook maple.

I saw the sign for ice cream so we pulled into the parking lot. The owner happened to be in the shop when we arrived and we got an impromptu Maple Syrup tasting of the highest quality. We learned about how different temperatures yield different results and what the different colored maple syrups look and taste like. We bought fresh eggs, baked goods, and last but definitely not least we ate some maple soft serve ice cream. It was delicious and I wish I could have some shipped home to Massachusetts. I hope to visit again during the sugaring season (usually March). Highly recommended!

Through our adventures in Bennington, we eventually found our way to the Apple Barn. Such a cute stop for some souvenirs and treats. We ended up coming by about 90 minutes before closing. As we headed toward the back of the shop to see if they were selling creemees, we saw they had samples of apple donuts out. They were tasty, but definitely could tell they were made earlier in the day as they were not too fresh. We assumed they were probably trying to clear out their inventory for the day. We eventually found the soft serve machine and ordered a maple creemee. I should start by saying that I'm not a big fan of maple, but if I'm going to try a Vermont creemee, I had to order a maple one. It was perfect, great texture and just a hint of maple taste. My husband asked to try it and he ultimately claimed it as his own, so we ended up buying a second one. So good! Service was okay. We got a weird vibe from the lady who was helping us. She seemed annoyed and very short while we were checking out the food and trying to order our creemee. Maybe because they were going to close soon? Not sure. But that was the only negative about our experience. The Apple Barn is definitely a cool spot to visit if you find yourself in Bennington. You can definitely get some tourist shopping/souvenirs and enjoy some treats while shopping. We would definitely come back if we found our way in Bennington again.

Super creamy and sticky with subtle flavors of maple syrup immersed throughout melts in your mouth and leaves you feeling like you want more! In February and March, their Sugar House is open and you can request a free tour of how they make and bottle their maple syrup. From the tapped trees to the raw syrup in vats, to boiling the syrup and taste-testing, the owner and the staff were very knowledgeable and great with kids! They also have a small animal farm that is always fun for the kiddies. It's a great place to stop by, taste test, take a tour, and shop!

They also had lots of stuffed animals including a giant tiger displayed outside and a moose, which the moose was a cheaper price than I expected for its size. Also as you would expect since it is Vermont they had lots of maple syrup including sizes of bottles that would make Costco sizes seem small. Even as someone currently being a tourist, I enjoy browsing stores like this but typically will skip on buying much. I find you usually run into two different issues, first being poor quality items you buy and second being overpriced and often you get both. The highlight of this place in my opinion that makes it a little more than just a gift shop was the dessert and cheese part. Despite this we still did not buy anything but some of the treats did look very good! Service wise while we did not buy anything did lack any sort of welcome or anything said at all by staff. It does not take much effort to even just say "hello welcome in". If you find yourself in the area going to any of the nearby shops or other things to do you might as well pop in and browse at least.

She said "NO!" and turned away but telling me to look around the gift shop and if you see something I'll help you. I turned. Went out the door empty handed and very disappointed.
