Yum. Just yum. Only got a few things but it smells great in the shop and the chocolates were super delicious.

My boyfriends little sister kept telling me to visit this chocolate shop because I am OBSESSED with moose (and love chocolate). We finally made our way over here and I loved every second of it. The chocolate is pretty reasonably priced and they have a lot of moose themed candy and stuffed animals. I got a little moose chocolate on a stick and a cup of chocolate gelato with maple gelato (not pictured). The gelato was supposed to be for my boyfriend and I to share but I may or may not have eaten the majority of it - it was too good. I can't wait to come back to Bennington and visit this shop again. The giant chocolate moose were definitely interesting as well!

The Village Chocolate Shoppe located in Downtown Bennington is a definitely a chocoholic's paradise to satisfy the serious sweet tooth. This is the perfect place to pick up some sweet gifts for special occasions especially for Valentine's Day, Easter, and Christmas. The candies are made on premises in the store. This chocolate store is packed with a great selection and variety (hundreds) of homemade chocolates, truffles, fresh fudge (over 30 kinds), candy bars, lollipops, molded chocolates, small candies, nuts, gift boxes, baskets, and unique dipped chocolate delights. Most chocolates are milk or dark chocolate. Sugar free chocolate and candies is also available here. Some of the mouthwatering treats offered here include chocolate dipped strawberries, cherry cordials (with rum), chocolate covered s'mores, chocolate dipped Oreos, death by chocolate bars, and sincakes. There's even a chocolate moose in the store. The prices here are fair. Chocolates are $14.95/lb, truffles are $16.95/lb and small bags of chocolate dipped raisins & nuts are 2 for $5. Some treats are sold individually. Since The Village Chocolate Shoppe is along my route between NY and NH, I made a pitstop here recently to pick up a few treats to satisfy MY sweet tooth. I picked up small bags of chocolate dipped raisins and peanuts, chocolate covered pretzels, s'mores bars, a chocolate dipped Oreo, and a sincake, totaling just under $15, not bad! All of the chocolate treats were very delightful to eat. Having good chocolate treats and strong coffee at work keeps me pretty content and busy. The sincake was very interesting which was like having a Snickers and 3 Musketeers, all in the same treat. The chocolate covered s'mores square had graham cracker and a thick layer of light soft marshmallow. This campfire treat was definitely my favorite! I can't wait to stop in here again very soon. I can thank my coworker who recommended The Village Chocolate Shoppe. His wife loves this store, which did not disappoint. WEBSITE: http://www.villagepeddlervt.com

I mean, the giant moose couple made out of chocolate is worth popping in to visit on their own...but the candy also happen to be divine. Highlight: the vanilla creams taste exactly like Cadbury cream eggs but with an even better chocolate : cream ratio.

I've been a customer of the Village Chocolate Shoppe in Bennington since I was young. I love the varieties of chocolates, the old fashioned candy area (mmm spearmint leaves and spice drops!), and then the more fancy chocolate confections behind the glass case. The absolute quantity and varieties of candies and confections (not just chocolate!) in the Shoppe is incredible! Much of the candy is reasonably priced, with a few exceptions here and there that are a little on the pricey side. I appreciate that much of the candy is made by the Shoppe as well! I always like to bring friends to the Shoppe if they haven't visited Bennington before; and it's a necessity for holiday indulgences! The shop attendants have always been kind, helpful, and patient; and the shop is always clean and smells amazing. Stop in and check it out! And say hello to the two massive chocolate moose that call the Shoppe home as well!

Go here sometimes after school and get a chocolate bar, love the homemade chocolate and it's not too pricey.

This chocolate is amazing. A little pricier than average, but it's worth it. Great place to get a gift basket.

Typical "I love VT" t shirts and stuffies in the window, $400 syrup, and artsy cards and candles etc. Making our way to the back was a small nook of seats and tables and a breakfast/sandwich/bagel menu. To say we were skeptical was an understatement. My son ordered a Southwestern steak and egg sandwich on a rainbow bagel. I had a dill pickle chicken salad sandwich on an everything bagel. Add in a coffee, a hot chocolate, two cans of Diet Coke (and a small cheesecake round for my son) and we were all set. Menu was way more reasonably priced than we expected. Average bagel sandwich (which they fill amply) was roughly $10. All of the fillings were very good. Well seasoned. Creative. Again, exceeded our initial expectations. Even the bagels were surprisingly good. Please note I grew up in NJ so a bagel is essentially unattainable to me north of the Tappanzee Bridge. I was expecting "airport quality," however, it was not half bad. Chewy and tasty for the area. Service left me with two very distinct feelings. 1) the people were AWESOME. Friendly, attentive, seemingly happy to be at work (a rarity). But... 2) there were 6 total customers in the store (some simply reading books) and yet it took 16 minutes for our coffee and hot chocolate and roughly 30 for the sandwiches. Was so weird to experience the quiet of the store - yet the ticket time and wait of a bustling morning at a deli. Oh well. Was a pleasant place to be. Will likely find a different place next week following our upcoming appointment. But was not mad at the experience.

I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.
