Took it back promptly and they claimed it was a "faulty crush washer on the drain plug". If I had to guess, it was just installed improperly and they blamed it on a defective washer... Fast forward a to today where I am driving a couple hundred miles later and the skid plate under the engine is scraping on the ground and is barely hanging on by a single bolt. I am guessing they improperly installed the skid plate after the oil change as well. They were nice enough to send some kids over to clean up the oil spill in my driveway, but overall I would strongly recommend taking your car anywhere else but here.

I wasn't sure if we should tow the car or risk driving it with absolutely DEAFENING exhaust noise. At about 12:30 PM I took a chance - drove the car. As I approached Lyndale Avenue, the owner waved me in. I couldn't believe he was waving at ME since I'd never been to the shop before. I stopped, turned off the engine and yelled out the window...they smiled and, again, motioned for me to drive straight into the garage. Within minutes they'd discovered the missing catalytic converter. 20 minutes later they'd assessed the condition of the rest of the car. We gave the go-ahead for repair at about 1:30 PM. By 7:30 PM the car was fixed and the door unlocked so I could pay the bill and drive home even though they were officially closed. THANK you for the friendly, thorough and magically fast service!

I brought my vehicle to the Tires Plus on Lake Street to replace a tire that was covered under…read morewarranty after a bulge was identified. The repair was completed, and I left assuming everything was taken care of. The next day my tire pressure light came on. I figured it probably just needed to be reset after the service. By Monday morning, the tire was completely flat. I called the store expecting them to take responsibility and help resolve the issue, especially since the tire was under warranty and they had just serviced it. Instead, I was told I would need to tow the vehicle back in. I explained that I didn't think I should have to pay for a tow when the problem appeared to be related to the work they had just done. Rather than working toward a solution, the manager, Jonathan, became combative and argumentative. The tone was defensive and dismissive, not helpful. When I asked for the name of his manager or someone I could escalate the issue to, he refused to provide it and acted like there was no one above him. I ended up having to call the main customer service line myself to try to get this resolved. I did not create this issue. The tire was covered under warranty, I brought it in for repair, and shortly after the service the tire was completely flat. A reasonable response would have been an apology, arranging a tow, and correcting the problem. Instead, I was met with resistance and poor customer service. Really frustrating experience, and not what you want when dealing with something that directly affects vehicle safety.

Having a mechanic who you know is not trying to rip you off or just straight up lie to you is worth paying for. It's not over charging, it's called small business making ends meet. They are local people and have been around for a very long time. They care about the community. I love going somewhere where they will tell you what is wrong and what is coming up in the future. "This is what you need now and this is what you need later, which we could do now if you want, but you don't need to." You will not hear that from a national brand. I love Hawkins and have been going there since I have had a car. Before that I went there when my dad brought his cars there.

They ordered me a new tire (without telling me to replace the rest of the tires), got me all fixed up, and have been my shop ever since. I never feel like they're ripping me off or making me buy extra stuff but still know they're looking out for my car, which is getting older and needs more done with 120k miles. There's a bunch of places way closer to me but I'll go out of my way to keep bringing my car here. They're also kind to everyone who comes in.
