I was very confused by the low ratings on Yelp until I realized that this store has rebranded and/or become something new...instead of the Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe, it is now Glen Ellyn Candy & Cones as of June 2026! Now onto the real review! This new shop opened last week and I really wanted to go on opening day but the line was out the door for the entire duration of business hours and I can totally understand why! I had the chance to stop in today and I am so glad I did! We were greeted by the friendliest staff and immediately sparked up a conversation about the premium quality ice cream that they serve. It was really fun to learn that the ice cream is made in Illinois. What I also loved about the shop is that there's no big fan fair, just simple and delicious ice cream and a selection of candy! The shop is small but mighty offering vanilla, chocolate, or twist ice cream in either a cup or cone and sprinkles or no sprinkles! To learn about the history of where the ice cream comes from and the many taste tests it took to finding the perfect sprinkles from Canada, what a fun ice cream date spot. Also the pricing is spot on, you can't go anywhere nowadays to get two regular ice creams with sprinkles for $11! I am so happy that this little shop is now part of the Glen Ellyn downtown scene. read more

The Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe is a nice little candy shop in downtown Glen Ellyn that has a varied selection of all kinds if candy and treats. From the normal fare of pre-wrapped, big name brands to by-weight gummy deliciousness to by-weight chocolate this place nearly covers all the bases. In fact, for a kid, this place seemingly offers it all. However, I feel like it's lacking something it's competitors offer... Wheaton's Popcorn Shop has fresh-popped popcorn, Graham's Chocolate has homemade chocolate (and a soda fountain), and candy shops in Naperville offer ice cream and cotton candy. Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe is just candy. Now, that doesn't stop them from executing well on their offering: the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, not to mention the fact that all customers under the age of 7 roll out of there with huge, ear-to-ear grins on their faces. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is if customers are allowed to peruse past the middle of the store... the cashier is setup right smack in the middle and feels like a gatekeeper over the rest of the floor, blocking easy passage to the chocolate in the back. If you're in the area then the Shoppe is worth a stop. But if you're looking for something a little more then this may not be the stop that fits the bill for you. read more

Love the shop! I've been coming here since I was a kid, but recently the staff seems to have gotten worse. There's a girl with pink hair that is so rude. She's always on her phone and 7/15/23 she purposefully drew out someone from the back to scoop out candy and had the nastiest look on her face like she thought it was beneath her. Sue and Ruth are always very helpful and friendly when I come to the store. They have a wide variety to choose from. Many different age groups shop here. This store has been around for a long time and I hope it stays in Glen Ellyn for many more years to come. Thank you to Sue and Ruth to always being so nice and helpful to me. Been living in town for over 10 years, never saw a reason to go into the Sweet Shoppe and to be honest, from the outside, I had pre-judged the inside! I went into the Sweet Shoppe as a recommendation from a friend, the purpose was to set up a "chocolate bar" for my 40th birthday party! That chocolate bar STILL has people talking months later! I couldn't decide what to do for a parting favor, this was the perfect and I mean perfect "sweet ending" for my guests!! I had some idea of what I wanted but Sue rocked it into better than what I could've imagined! She had great suggestions and we were able to coordinate the bar to my party colors and add different heights and sizes of glass jars to add interest! In the end, it was a piece of art! It was the best white chocolate I've ever had, chocolate from my childhood, my current favs! All my guests wanted to know if I picked everything and yes, I did (even though I had a little help from Sue and she was able to special order items and make expert recommendations)! I had green watermelon flavored rock candy!! My colors were green, black and white and each guest had a clear acrylic take home container which helped to show off their colorful assortment with a beautiful tag saying "thank you" which the Sweet Shoppe had put together! The ordered amt of chocolate for my guests was estimated based on container size. I thought I'd have extra to send to those unable to attend but it was quite an accurate order! The chocolate bar came with 2 attendants for the evening and I loved that they prepackaged some containers for those guests that just wanted to go and they were so good to help my elderly guests fill their containers! I received so many "thank you"'s from my guests who came home with candy for their kiddos, sitters or their breakfast the next day! The triple-dipped malt balls were loved by all! A collection of various candies, some of them a little fancier (Ghirardelli squares) and some old-timey (Mary Janes, Chic-O-Stick) but mostly aimed at the kiddies (kits, Tootsie Roll Midgees, Now and Later, etc.). Good selection of Jelly Bellies at $7.50 a pound, which is a good price. Desultory service from someone who got off the internet long enough to ring me up. read more

A nice little walk in shop where you can buy candy, jelly beans, gummies, etc., by the pound using a scooper and a baggie. My kids like to mix-n-match a bag to bring home. They recently switched gummy bear brands and they are really good. They are smaller than a traditional gummy bear and very soft. The flavors are more intense. But I digress. There are also the traditional candy bars and boxed candies like you'll find at other stores, and some not-so-common items like sugar free chocolate and rock candy. The ladies who work there are very nice and the shop is always clean and bright. A great staple in the Glen Ellyn community. read more

The young employee, who resembled Ed Sheeran, was ridiculously rude upon my entrance. He was "busy" doing something on his laptop and was listening to some sort of sporting event loudly and never interrupted himself to greet me or offer assistance. I needed $3000.00 worth of chocolate for a large corporate event, and decided to look elsewhere after I received NO service. I do not recommend bringing children there, especially if that employee is working. Cheer up, it's a candy store! read more

I haven't been here in years but I remember coming here 20 years ago when I was a kid. I loved the wide selection of candy, and the sweets they had for quarter or less, I wonder if they still have those. I give five stars just for the memories.
