I am in the neighborhood and passed by at this bakery. My eyes caught their special turnover on the display cabinet. I picked apple turnover, options are baked in three different ways. I got it all. I myself picked a scone. Lived it. Pricing is standard. The place has a small dining spot. It looks like a historic bakery that could be a staple in the town. I brought it home for hubby. My hubby enjoyed each piece.

    old Crumb Cake

old crumb cake, tastes days old. The cake portion is dry stale and flavorless. Gotta do better Joe, seems to be too worried about profits and cutting corners than a good product, that's clear as day. Disappointing, place was been on a decline since covid. Really sad to see an owner who doesn't recognize retirement.

I really wanted to give this place a better review but my crumb cake was stale and not the first time. This last time was worst than the others. It is a local shop, where people from the neighborhood come and have breakfast and sit at one of the small tables they have off to the back and side wall. It has the mom & pop feel and the prices are really good but a quality check needs to be done. Toss the old stuff and give us a taste of fresh baked goods. Stale and old pastries are a bad sign for a business and make people turn away and go elsewhere.

This is a solid, old school, neighborhood bakery. Do yourself a favor and go here over the DD across the street. Great breakfast, don't count on getting a table in here. Grab your food on the way to work, egg sandwiches and bagels are phenomenal here. What a selection! Freshly made in house bagels with their own cream cheeses and unique spreads, breakfast here is always a treat. Top it off with fresh amazing coffee and you're sure to have a great start to your day. Staff is always happy and helpful. Its not all about breakfast sandwich and bagels here .They also provides cakes and baked goods with awesome service. This place does become somewhat crowded sometimes, so be prepared to either wait for a table or eat while standing. My go-to bakery when i'm in this part of queens. Bagels are always fresh, always delicious, and never fails or disappoints. All around solid bakery in Maspeth.

Disgusting chocolate cake that smelled and tasted like nail polish.

Stay away! My boyfriend was in the neighborhood and decided to buy some treats to surprise me. He told me that upon entering, the bakery didn't look that good, but he decided to still give it a shot. He should have listened to his gut! He got a slice of coffee crumb cake, which was dry and stale. He also got a chocolate muffin, which he said was just okay and nothing special. And worst of all was the individual-sized chocolate cake. After one bite, my daughter asked if there was nail polish in the cake and asked me to try some. I took a whiff and it smelled like nail polish! Gross!!! I reluctantly took one bite and it tasted like nail polish too. It went right in the trash after that. I hope we don't get sick now!

My family from all over has been coming here for years for their Pretzel Rolls! They are truly to die for! They are located on a main road in Maspeth/Glendale. They have amazing prices and have so many other options besides their delicious pretzel rolls! They have mini cakes, big cakes, cookies, tarts! Not only that they make breakfast and have coffee! Plus they have boars head meats here too! Very cute! Very old school! Everything here is fresh and the staff is very attentive and nice!

    Blackout Cake

Walked in here to see the display, and instantly had to buy my favorite cake of all time. Blackout cake isn't very common nowadays, so it's nice to see this long-standing bakery have an old Brooklyn classic on the menu. I will say, it's not the best blackout cake I've ever had (there's an odd taste at first bite), but it's still decadent and satisfying. They should just edit the recipe a little bit to make it have a more chocolatey flavor.

After ordering, you need to wait 15 minutes before your sandwich is out - at least there's a lot of searing inside so you can definitely enjoy your sandwich inside!! Got the two most popular sandwiches - dill party and chicky. - dill party (4.5/5): this sandwich was almost perfect - the only thing it was missing was the crunch factor. The bread could have been slightly more toasted (it was a bit soft and didn't have a crunch), there could have been more pickled, or the addition of chips in the sandwich, but other than that, the ingredients of the sandwich were so fresh and the turkey was perfect - not dry at all, not too much as it may seem - chicky (4.5/5): this sandwich was a bit heavier. the bread was cooked a bit better but could have been a bit more toasted, but the chicken meatball - holy moly this was perfect. it was so soft and juicy and full of flavor Overall, this sandwich spot is definitely worth the trek and visit to try it out. the only thing that would make it 5 stars is just slightly more toasted sandwiches :)

As far as the dining area- The restaurant was spacious, composed of neatly lined tables and chairs with their centerpiece luncheonette bar gracing the room. Their al fresco arrangement was remarkable- with their lighter hued blue and green colored metallic seats and tables quietly lining the corner of Menahan street. A softboi haven. I imagined this to be a type of restaurant where a newlywed Mormon couple in the Great Plains would run. A place where pleasantries and support for one's neighbor is what mattered. "Another delicious sandwich, Hezekiah. See you guys in church." but truthfully, I felt a bit sour overriding my preference for the reliable in favor for the novel. A half chicken over yellow rice with plantains might have been the better option for my pocket, palate, and my need to protein max. But woe is me. Regardless, I'll have to respectfully pass on seconds at the Salty Lunch Lady's.

Seriously it's like walking back into the 90s in Ridgewood. I'm not gonna lie, I had high expectations for being a bespoke southern breakfast sandwich shop because I like my morning flavors savory. They had some fun ideas like a cheese something biscuit whatever but I wouldn't know cause they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was busy so I didn't bother mentioning it... but this place always seemed busy, so maybe they should be used to it? Anywho, I ended up with two of their classic BEC and it was pretty standard and kind of a letdown for Southern. I honestly have faith in anything that comes from their kitchen but their "New Yorker" with the spicy bacon and jam is my favorite combination! Make sure you order it on the cheddar and chive biscuit as well, and I must say that they definitely make one of the best chive and cheddar biscuits that I've ever had! They also make a MEAN bundt cake that I forgot to take a pic of. My ONLY hiccup with them is their wait time. Called in my order 20 minutes before I arrived and still waited an additional 30 minutes once I got there smh.... But don't worry I'll be back lol Ambiance is like a local coffee shop. If there were a footrest bar at the bottom it might've helped, but as it was, my butt was not fitting on that seat. I basically had one foot on the floor and one on my friend's chair just to keep myself from sliding off. Graceful! We ordered two espresso martinis and a slice of tiramisu. Both were absolutely lovely and the perfect way to end the night. The staff were friendly, fast, and really on top of things. Next time I'd definitely come for a table, and maybe a proper meal, because the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked divine. My only gripe? Seventeen dollars for an espresso martini feels... ambitious for Ridgewood. It's not like this is some high-end cocktail bar, it's an elevated pizzeria. I came here my first time visit in May 2021 and there were few items on the menu, that are Italian sandwich and there were little or no choices for breakfast, and the breakfast hours had no limit, until this year 2023, as I ate her "breakfast" ham, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich at 5 in the afternoon. And also, that was how she ran out of ingredients for breakfast sandwich, which now in 2023 limited the sales of breakfast sandwiches to opening time thru 2 in the afternoon. Also, until I had my promotion on my part time job which started in February 2023, I stopped going to this place due to the rising prices inflation and went someplace else where is cheaper. So I can get used to the expenses, and therefore as I expected, it definitely will be nice if this store can innovate to sell more various types of Italian food imported from anywhere of European country- not only from Italy.
