Absolutely OBSESSED with this place! I grew up in Iran and been telling my American fiance for 5 years I can't wait to one year take you back to my own country to taste an authentic Persian sandwich! This place is as close as it gets!! I've been living in LA for over a decade and soooo happy I finally found a place that taste like home. Super cheap too! We got the German sausage, kotlet and beef tongue! My parents looooved too and they're harsh critics. Thank you for an amazing experience

I was craving a sandwich so I yelped up for a sandwich place in the area and this one popped up. For $9, I got myself a very very hefty tongue sandwich with the Persian pickled cucumbers (which I've always preferred over American pickles). The sandwich was delicious, as was the tongue, but I will say that I was very very disappointed with the bread. It tasted like cardboard, but luckily the meat in the inside made up for it. If the bread was better I would probably give this place an extra star. It's a very very small place, maybe with 5 tables inside + outside at most. Don't expect to get the best service, just go in and out. I can't speak for the sandwich maker who is apparently the worst in client service. It wasn't so bad for me (knock on wood), but maybe it was cause I went in prepared and fearing the worst.

Take a journey into the past with Glendale Cafe. The menu has a few items with no descriptions or photos, just a price. $12 cash only (really) gets you a mysterious sandwich. I got the chicken breast sandwich, which contrary to what you'd guess is not grilled or fried chicken breast, it's shredded chicken. The flavor was nice though, it was pickles, peppers lettuce, chicken and bread. Glad I tried a real odd ball in the middle of Burbank. read more

Was recommended this place by someone and it did not disappoint, I'm only disappointed that I didn't know about it sooner. I tried the cow tongue sandwich and it was everything I wished for. All the right flavors with the delicious tender tongue meat cooked to perfection. The parsley and onion give it the right texture and the pickles add just the right about of saltiness and the tomatoes is your something fresh. The bread roll is nice a fluffy. Can't wait to try all of the other sandwiches. read more

I ordered the cutlet sandwich and it was a total disappointment. Basic homemade sandwich with no special touch. Had crushed pieces of cutlet that you could barely see in the sandwich. Very low key place but very tasty sandwiches. The small cozy place might just be why this place is so good and memorable. This isn't your typical sandwich shop. The owner/ chef takes his time in making each sandwich. So don't come here if you're in a hurry. I always get the German sausage sandwich which has onions, parsley, tomatoes, pickles and other herbs. I love how he toasts the baguette before making the sandwich. It gives it a new dimension and great texture. I always put hot sauce all over the sandwich before eating it because I like it semi spicy but you can have it without because it is just as delicious. The prices are reasonable as well. $5-$7 for a sandwich (cut in 2 halves) which makes it perfect for sharing as well. I took my cousin who was here from Germany who is a huge foodie. And he absolutely fell in love. We had to go back twice after that. read more

My friend showed me this legit spot. It's Persian Armenian owned. The cook/owner doesn't allow cell phone use inside. Alright. Great start. Only old school legit Persian Armenians go here. Also great. I'm Korean American btw. I just like authentic spots. This place has a German sausage sandwich, you can get w/ chopped parsley, a creamy sauce, and fresh tomato slices w/ great bread. The sandwich flavor has a bit of that In n Out flavor and also that of the best hot dog ever! I'll definitely go back and show friends, sometimes, too. read more

This place is the best! Plain and simple! You appreciate it more if you're an old school Persian Armenian, because this is how sandwich places were back in the day, back home. The owner Mr. Valod is the best! He's nice and intimidating at the same time. He has these "No Cellphone" stickers all over the shop, because he doesn't want people speaking loudly while eating inside, and I've been too scared to actually test this rule inside his shop...I don't want to get banned. The sandwich variety is pretty limited, but the go to here is the German Sausage Sandwich! It's amazing! The beef tongue, and the brain sandwich is also amazing, but I pretty much always get the German Sausage. This place offers only sandwiches and bottled drinks. You can't get fries or chips, because he doesn't have any, but he does give you a side of Persian pickles with each order. I've been coming here for years, and I love it. read more

We went to this place in lunch time and ordered 2 sandwiches for us. It was almost nothing in sausage sandwiches accept tomato, onions. In the end I find small sausage in my sandwich. The food was totally low quality and owner had bad attitude with costumers.I don't recommend this place at all if u want to eat lunch in your lunch time. read more

To bad there isn't a half a star available or else I would put it !! There are people that should not be in the food and service business, this guy is a perfect example. Owner is a " has been" and lets his emotions of closed mindedness get in the way of running his business. never mind he never says HI! he has no common courtesy for customers that are paying for his livelihood, that's the least he should do. Food is ok!! lot of the stuff he puts in it is from your general refrigerator items, nothing that he prepares from scratch.... He is a rude S.O.B. and I will never step foot in this place. The guy has issues, he should be definitely doing something else, something that does not involve counteracting with people. read more

This place deserves way more than just 5 stars! My family and I live in San Francisco. There aren't many great sandwich places other than the usual Subway, let alone any Armenian sandwich shops. During our latest visit to the Glendale area, members from both my family and my in-laws insisted that we go and eat at this place. Being the mother of a picky 2 year old, i was hesitant, but decided to go. The shop is very cozy and it is the definition of "hole-in-the-wall"! The atmosphere is great. The shop itself is very clean and orderly. The service is fantastic. The shop is run by a gentleman who is most likely in his mid 50's. He's very friendly and polite. He was extremely nice to my daughter, who does not get along well with strangers. The food speaks for itself. I had the Chicken Breast and my husband tried the Lamb Brain.The sandwiches that we ate here are by far the best sandwiches that my husband and I have ever tried. The quality of the food is 100 times better than any Subway chain or other sandwich shop. Every thing was fresh and made right in front of our eyes. The prices are also great! The only downside is that Glendale Cafe is in Glendale and so far from us!!! We will definitely be coming back when we visit!!! read more

If you are looking to get some good old Persian style sandwiches in a hole in a wall style place, then this is your spot. They serve all the classic sandwiches including cutlet, kuku, brain, tongue, sausage, etc. The sandwiches are delicious, place is super clean, and their prices are very reasonable. The owner is a nice guy but very old school. He hates technology including cell phones, therefore, whatever you do, do not and I mean do not use your cell phone when you are waiting to order, or expect possibly to get thrown out...LOL. read more

This place is like the "sandwich natzi" (ala Seinfeld, remember that?) ! The man is direct honest and most importantly a great sandwich maker. what you got to eat here is 1- his special sausage, 2-tongue or if you are into it the 3-brains sandwich. You get quality, freshness, cleanliness and last but not least a great taste! don't waste your pallet on the other stuff. read more

Try the tongue sandwich. It is the BEST. Small sandwich shop in Glendale, but the food is amazing. It's clean, fast, fresh and tasty. They also have a great German sausage sandwich and I also like their Olovieh and I try that when they're out-of tongue sandwiches. read more

The draw back is this place is very crowed during peak times and it a little too small considering the amount of customers that come. I've driven past Papa's Meat and Seafood on Glenoaks Blvd a dozen times, on our many trips to the area. We alway promising that we would stop in, and I'd finally stop in. Honestly, my only regret is waiting this long. I ordered the Luka Sandwich, which is loaded with their 14-hour smoked pastrami brisket, cheddar, pickled cherry peppers, iceberg, and Papa's aioli on toasted sourdough. The pastrami itself is a work of art--smoky, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and seasoned perfectly without being a total salt bomb. The pickled cherry peppers give it this incredible, bright pop of heat that cuts right through the richness of the beef. It's a messy, beautiful monster of a sandwich. My wife went with the Surf 'n' Turf Bowl, which comes with their marinated "Crack Shrimp" and grilled angus beef over rice with a fresh shirazi salad. The beef was incredibly tender, but those crack shrimp stole the show--snappy, heavily seasoned, and completely addictive. You can clearly taste the quality of a high-end butcher shop in a casual, quick-service lunch. The only reason I'm knocking off one star is the wait time and the seating is also pretty limited, so it's much better suited for a grab-and-go situation than a sit-down date night. That being said, the quality of the meat here blows standard sandwich joints completely out of the water. If you're in Burbank and want a lunch that actually feels high-quality and satisfying, do yourself a favor and drop in. I'm already eyeing the A5 Wagyu Cheesesteak for my next visit!

This is a great place to go if you're in the mood for authentic comfort food.. the menu consists of hot and cold sandwiches alike.. for the average consumer, i'd recommend a classic German Sausage sandwich or a Chicken breast sandwich.. for those risk takers out there, go ahead and try a beef tongue or lamb brain sandwich, they're both delicious!!
