My son and I had a 3pm tee time on 8/5 and the golf shop staff allowed us to play early, ahead of a men's group that plays on Wednesdays. We were able to get in 18 hours in 4 hours. I was surprised, considering this is the peak season. The golf shop staff and starters were courteous and professional. This was my son's first time there, thank you for making it a great experience for us. In addition, the course was in great shape, other than people not filling in their divots on the fairways, or ball marks on the greens... We will definitely be back to play Man O' War next year! I'm not mad at this place in general I'm mad about the community. The pool was not fun because the lady that was working at the front desk was rude because she was giving us a rude attitude! The pool was okay but dirty. The Golf Course are okay but the course it's self is not good. I would love to come back but not when people and stuff are like this!! read more

Friendly staff. They greet upon arrival, unload your clubs and set up your cart. They have 2 championship courses-Man O'War and War Admiral. They have a nice driving range and a well stocked pro shop. We played 18 on War Admiral. Beautiful course with long fairways, with tricky sand traps, tough rough and challenging greens. A nice afternoon with friends. My only issues are that the one snack shack is over at the driving range and you have to go in the opposite direction to get to it from War Admiral Tees #1 & 10. Same with the turn bathrooms. They need more parking too. I'll be back to play Man O'War. read more

Course is in terrible shape. Saw beverage cart once. Bunkers were like playing on concrete. Staff not friendly. Also thought the course design was not fair. Holes 8,9 and 10 are just not fair. Also #18, if you hit a good drive you are through the fairway. If you lay up short, you have 185 carry over water to an elevated green. Don't care if I never play this one again! Oh, and no parking as there was an outing on the other course. read more

The course is in bad shape. Proper course signage is nonexistent. The fairway is not well maintained. The manager and most of the fairway staff is unfriendly. They unfairly hassled us multiple times about our rate of play, even though no one behind us had complained. I would not recommend this course. read more

First time out at this beautiful Ocean City golf course. Lots of challenging holes and this course has a lot of scenic views with animal life, ponds and beautiful homes. The clubhouse sold a large variety of hats and clothing. The staff handled our group of 40 golfers with ease dispute the fact the course endured 8 hours of rain the day before. Overall a 9/10 experience. I play golf about twice a week and this was one of the most enjoyable rounds I've had throughout the summer despite poor play. The course is not too challenging and it has some pretty views. The grounds crew has done a great job this summer as the course was in prime condition. It is a bit pricey for a round but if you are willing to pay then you will find that it is rewarding. The war admiral course was cool with the old racetrack and historic postings on the front 9. The only issue was that it was cart path only and it seemed to be pretty dry out on the course. I don't know if they make it cart path only often, but I would've given a 5 star review if it was 90 degrees. I would definitely recommend this course and facility. read more

The Man O War course is the one we played today. It the links style course and very playable. I like the openness off the tee. The greens were large but made tougher with the undulations. But we all liked the course (three of us played from the silver tees). Clubhouse is nice and there is a Ruth Chris Steakhouse in the clubhouse. Rangers and starter were helpful and never pushy. Let me first say I traveled 3 hrs to play this course again! I really like it's layout and it makes you use every club in the bag. War Admiral is the kind of course I would design given the opportunity. BUT I am older and usually get a handicap flag because I am in need of one. After arriving at the course after I payed and was escorted to the first tee. I asked for a handicap flag and was told I could not have one. I also was told 3 holes on the back nine where " cart path only"! At my home course anytime cart path only comes up I do not play. Since it is very hard on me and I don't like to slow everyone else down. Anyhow I feel the time to disclose this to your patron is when he calls for a tee time or put a disclaimer on your website. You can rest assured that I will definitely ask in the future IF I play there again?? read more

(This review is for Man O' War.) Nice design, variations on the holes, greens were in great shape. The only downside was that the fairways were kind of "hairy" ,,, it's understandable, though, to a certain extent because it had rained cats and dogs a day or two prior and they probably didn't want to bring out the heavy mowers and take a chance on ruining the fairways (leave track marks). Nevertheless, the grass was a bit overgrown and there were clumps in many places. For $89 (Saturday morning) it's not cheap but Rum Pointe (where I played yesterday) was more expensive ($99). Range balls and cart (and free coffee!) included. I would definitely play here again. read more

One of the best ran and maintained courses in the area. We always have a great time playing here. Ranges are well stocked with balls, courses are always in a good shape and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse makes for perfect ending of the day. This summer they had kids golf clinic every week. We've been playing Man O War every year for the last 10 years on an annual golf trip. Very disappointed this year as the course was in awful condition. Large bare brown spots everywhere. One green looked like they had dug a trench down the middle and then patched it. The course blamed it on the winter weather, but our other two courses, Eagles Landing and Rum Pointe were in tremendous shape. Hopefully they will put some serious money in to getting better by next summer. read more

We have played Man O War and War Admiral Course a few times last year -- it was already in very good shape for just having opened. Interesting course, solid layout -- we all really liked it a lot. Also, the club house has a Ruth Chris -- Steak Po-Boy after golf was quite a treat -- beautiful clubhouse too. read more

I played Man O' War completed 18 holes on 2 different days, tee'd off by 7 and the round was complete by 11, the staff was very friendly, I would highly recommend, course was in excellent shape, very forgiving fairways and very fair greens. read more

Played Man O War. It's a nice course and very playable. Staff is great. The problem this time of the year is that Canada geese are everywhere and where there are geese, there's poop. It's disgusting and close to being a health hazard. Balls have to be moved on the green unless you want to try and putt through. Yuk! It's particularly bad on the front nine. Not sure what the solution is but to reduce the bird population or blow the poop to the sides of the fairways and off the greens in the morning. Geese are prevalent in the area but this is a particular heavy concentration. Other than that, great day! Wash your hands. read more

This was our first time at the Glen Riddle complex, and while it was nice, I don't think I'll go back soon, at least not for the full price. We played the War Admiral course, which is a more traditional layout, as compared to the Man-O-War course, which is more links style. The thing that immediately impressed me was the level of service, from the bag drop to the pro shop to the starter to the beverage cart. Nice people providing good service. The driving range is natural grass, which is a bonus for me. The starter, Mike, came over and introduced himself to us (at the Man-O-War practice green and driving range) well before our scheduled tee time. He explained how everything worked, then came back and checked on us and finally took us over to the War Admiral practice green right before our tee time. He went over the basics and took us to the tee box, then left after we tee'd off. Mike was a perfect starter, with a perfect attitude! Jim Furyk apparently had a hand in the design, and it became obvious the more we played. It's definitely a control course, and control is a must. The fairways were nice, the tee boxes were very nice, the roughs were okay, and the greens rolled about as true as any I've played. They were superb! On the negative side, at least for me, were a handful of things. The horseflies were pretty bad, even on a beautiful (non-muggy) day with a medium breeze, so I can't imagine what they must be like in August with no breeze. My biggest criticism is that the course plays a little gimmicky, with too many awkward (and tiny) fairways and "shelf" landing areas that are raised quite a few feet above the rough, and one or two greens that are ridiculously sloped. I enjoy a tough challenge, but I found several holes to be so hard and so quirky that it took the fun out of the challenge. And I didn't care at all for having both finishing holes as layup holes. On number 18, I want to hit driver and a nice approach, not 7-iron and 7-iron. But that's just me. The beverage cart was nearby quite often, and she was delightful. There was plenty of wildlife and pretty scenery. It was a very nice golf experience, with great service and great greens, but for that price range, I much prefer Baywood Greens. read more

I played the War Admiral in Ocean City, MD, in August of 09. The course is routed through the woods. Nice layout, makes you think. Very plush. It is a country club experience. GPS in carts very nice. Not too many people because the course is sort of expensive at $130 per person for a round. We also played the Man of War and Eagles Landing which are about half the cost of War Admiral and not nearly as nice. This course is a must play. read more

This is a nice course make no mistake about it. However, the pace of play is a joke. 5 1/2 hrs to play around of golf is absurd. They have stickers on the cart window stating how pace of play here is a service we provide and a round should be played in 4:20 minutes more or less. No round of golf should EVER take that long on a nice sunny day. The ranger, while a nice enough guy, didn't really do much. He said he asked the group that was slowing play down to pick up the pace. I asked since they haven't, why didn't you move them up to the next hole? He said there was no place to move them. Then they aren't the ones slowing play down!!! Find the ones who are and move them up. If they refuse or give you a hard time, kick them off the course with no refund. It's simple. read more

Bought a 4-round package through Ruark Golf, paid $472 per person, for a group of 8 people and played September this year. The course included Rum Pointe, GlenRiddle Man O' War, GlenRiddle War Admiral and Lighthouse Sound. Rum Pointe was in great shape and Lighthouse Sound had been recently aerated; the two Glenriddle courses were in awful shape, greens had not been cut or rolled, dairways and tee boxes were worse than some of the county course in MD, VA area. Now you'd expect that when you pay more than $100 per round that the courses would be in pristine condition and if that weren't the case, they'd tell you before you got there. Nope. When we went to check in at the pro shop, at least they told us about the condition of the course and gave us $50 vouchers for future play. But at this point what were we supposed to do other than check out the course. We played, didn't like it, went back to the clubhouse and they were at least nice enough to offer us each a free golf shirt which we all took. However, we'd never book another golf package through Ruarkgolf service since they are not upfront with the condition of their golf courses. As a group we are better off checking out their competition. An email to the package company would not offer us even a partial refund. So golfers beware! read more
