This a challenging golf course right on the water. Beautiful location, challenging holes. Fairways are in good condition, greens are fast. If it's windy this course can be very challenging and a few balls in the water. They have 2 beverage cart ladies. A nice pro shop and a nice restaurant/bar area. Everyone is friendly And helpful. The only downside is it's a little pricey to play here. read more

Played the golf course in the morning and ate dinner in the dinning room that evening. Both experiences were top notch. The course has some of the most beautiful views that I've ever experienced. Quite a bit of water and sand as you would imagine and playing was tough but fair. The dinning experience was fantastic. The setting was great, the service was exceptional and the food was first class. We had a large group ranging in age from 1 year old to 67 so you could imagine that it was a little energetic at times but the staff was very gracious, helpful and understanding. read more

Premium course and not premium service. Positives Course was in good shape. Fast but holding greens. Fairways were nice and smooth. Rough was short but very thick. Negatives: Things that were not great... The course has a big practice range. Arrived there but the practice range was closed (this is during prime time on a holiday week). No one told us there was a chipping range behind the clubhouse that we could have used (found this out after playing the 7th hole). Men's room was dirty and the lock on one of the stalls was broken causing guys to open the door while it was occupied. No Beverage Cart for the first 8 holes. They were only servicing the back 10 holes. There was a snack and beverage stand after the 8th hole. No water coolers on the course ANYWHERE. We did buy drinks after the 8th hole and on the back 9 but it would have been nice to have some cold fresh water put out since the weather was in the low 90's. After the round you felt overwhelmed by the cart guys trying to hurry you out and get their tips. Pro shop had many items that had no price on the items and constantly had to ask for a price (Hats $32? no thanks. Towel $? Shirt price $?) The ranger that is stationed after the cart bridge (9th tee) was rude telling us we were 15 mins behind our time even though we kept up with the group in front of us. We were only a 3 some and we played quickly. We didnt have time to eat after the round but the restaurant/bar looked great. Would we go back? Probably not during premium fee periods. . read more

I played on Sunday Aug 21 at Lighthouse Sound with my girlfriend. I was a member here for 18 years before dropping my membership this year. The course is in terrible shape! Worst I have experienced in my long association with it. The back nine fairways were nearly void of grass. The back nine was cart path only for 7 of the nine holes and with no prior notice that this was to be the case. The greens were usually great, but not today! they were bumpy and slow and very pockmarked with unrepaired ball marks. I must have fixed at least four or five on every green just to make putting my line possible! They likely had not been mowed or rolled today. The edges of many greens were void of grass and there were lots of bare spots in many greens. The teeing areas were very chewed up and burned out on many holes, especially the back nine. The traps had not been raked overnight and so were hard on the surface. Sand was sparse in the few traps I was unlucky to visit. Lack of attention and proper grooming to them was evident. The carts were old and very hard to steer, the windshield was cracked, the tires were nearly worn out and the cart was not even clean when we got it. I spite of the issues, the course still charged us $139 each. When I complained there was no offer of price reduction, free round or any consideration in spite of my long membership. Glad to have stopped my membership this year, this course is on a sharp downward spiral of conditioning and quality of service. read more

I played a round of golf here a couple years ago with a friend of mine on a golf trip we took and we loved the course! I've played a lot of rounds of golf in my life and lots and lots of different courses and this one still remains one of my top 5 favorites. The course was so beautiful and it was really awesome how the layout played with views right on or near the water almost the entire time. The course has the worlds longest golf cart bridge, which takes you for a long drive over marshland where my buddy and I saw blue herons. I highly recommend playing here in mid afternoon. Not only for the lower cost, but we literally had the course to ourselves. We had a 2:30pm tee time and finished in 3 hours with no one ahead of or behind us. It was awesome. The course was incredibly well kept and for being right near the water, the course allowed the ball to roll nice. I drove the green on the first hole par 4 because of a nice shot and roll. Thankfully I have an aunt and uncle that live in Maryland, because I will most definitely come back and play here again! read more

This course has picturesque views from many different holes & features a long wooden cart path bridge which is a real treat to drive over. The course itself was pretty difficult so I wouldn't recommend to beginners. This course bodes well for strategic golf because there is a lot of dog legs, fairway landing zones and isolated greens. It was a fun course to play but definitely a bomb straight down the middle, 2nd shot to a flat green type of joint. Overall the course was in okay condition which is typically what you get in August. Isiasis had just rolled through here a week ago so there were a lot of dead trees and leaves on the fairways so it felt like we were playing fall golf. So if fairways and greens had some dead spots but again that tends to happen in August. My only other qualms were that 2 holes shared a green which is less than ideal if you overshoot the green as it will roll onto the next one...guess that means I would need to get better at golf!! Overall, I would for sure play this place again as the views alone are enough to come back for. read more

We played here as a group on Septemebr 21, 2018. When you arrive you pay at one place then walked to the storage builing to pick-up your carts. The course layout is odd as well. Many holes you pass the green as you head to the tee box. The course condition was poor. Most fairways were burned in large sections. The course is challenging enough without having to work with the poor conditions. Also, having the challenge of playing on a burned up course you also have guys cutting grass around you. Very few people were on teh course so I don't know why they had to be cutting around the golfers that were present. This is a beautiful course (scenic) but I can't come back having to pay this unreasonable amount of money for a torn up course. They should be embarrassed of the amount they charge their customers. read more

Me and my dad started golfing on our annual visit to OC for 4 years now, 3 out of those 4 years we have played lighthouse sound. We did try one other course which did not even compare to this place, Lighthouse sound is a first class operation from every aspect of there business. People are curteous from the wait staff, bartenders, golf pros and assistants, Alot of people say its too expensve, but they have never experienced a course like this. As much as we say every year that we should try another course, we keep coming back to Lighthouse Sound and I dont think we will quit. If you haven't golfed in OC, make this place #1 on your list, it has been rated #79 out of the top 100 courses in the country. I can not wait till next year to go back again!!! read more

For $175 (late September 2018), this course should be in tip-top shape. And it's not. Yes, the views are beautiful ... but you don't play on the views; you play on land. The greens were fair at best and the fairways were just awful. Moreover, the grill didn't open until after 8am ... and we had tee-times at 7:30! What are 12 golfers supposed to do? Awww, I'm so sorry that the staff didn't want to show up to take care of their customers. I will not return. read more

Course was nice and pro shop had about anything that you could want.. Course was definitely tough and as someone who usually shoots in the 80's it was tough and I shot a 95... Too many forced carries for what I like but conditions were in great condition.. Views were awesome.. Best I have seen other than when playing some courses on Hawaii but let's be real Hawaii views are not going to be beat.. read more

Beautiful course, and challenging, however, this is a total Good Old Boys Club. 2 years in a row we traveled to SC for a group vacation and 2 years in a row we were stalked and harassed by the course Marshall, telling us we were holding up the entire course, however we were consistently waiting for the group ahead of us. Our husbands were playing behind us and were not held up on any hole. We also were the only women any of the7 of us saw on the course both times. We paid a lot for a round of golf, and we have as much right to be there. Completely made to feel unwelcome. If it weren't for the rude staff, the nasty comments, following us and watching us the entire time, it would be a 5 star course. read more

Great course in great condition as of 7/3/2010. Even with the drought they were able to keep the fairways and greens very well watered. This was the second or third day of my crews golf trip out in OC so we were pretty banged up due to prior evenings festivities. If you like a spicy bloody marry make sure to bring those miniature Tabasco bottles cause they be weak here. I'm pretty sure it was here anyways. It was one hell of a weak lots of black spots. Anyways the bloody tasted like old tomato soup. As for the actual course if you haven't been you must go. Out of all the courses we played that week Rum Pointe, Ocean Pines, Man 'O War, Bear-trap Dunes, and Jolly Rogers amusement park this was my second best. Rum Pointe is just ridiculous. You thought my favorite was Jolly Rogers didn't ya? My buddy threw up in a parrot there so the experience lost some points because of that. It has some of the better views and is managed well so the game progressed quickly (relatively) even though the course was packed. read more

This is literally my 1st and only Yelp Review but this place was so good that I had to leave a 5 star review: So I booked a 2:15pm tee time the Sunday of July 4th weekend for a great rate of only $69. The check out at my hotel was at 11am so I got to the course very early and figured I'd just have to hang out in the club house for a few hours. I checked in at around 1130am and the nice man in the clubhouse said I was lucky and the course was wide open the whole day. I was able to hit some range balls and tee off right away whenever I was ready at the same great rate. I couldn't believe it when I was able to tee off by myself. I was more amazed that I didn't see anyone else on the course the whole day. I didn't have anyone behind me or in front of me the whole round. I literally had the whole course to myself. The course itself was the best course I personally have ever played. The views of were absolutely amazing. The course was in pristine condition and played extremely well. It was such a fun course to play and I am not looking forward to going back to NJ to play my usual courses. The entire staff was also very polite and helpful. I know I got lucky and spoiled for having the whole course to myself, but I can whole heartedly say that this was the best golf experience of my life. If you are planning to golf in OCMD this has to be the #1 place on your list. read more

Why not 5 stars? Price and not walkable, period. The days of $100 plus greens fees should be over, played in afternoon to save and my experience was probably better than the dew sweepers, 3 hrs and 35 min around without ever feeling rushed. Practice area, chipping green and putting green, great. The guys are very nice here and locals, so ask them where to eat in town, etc. greens are good, not lightning fast, but you aren't as good as you think anyway. I'm begging you to play the correct tees! Think about what you HONESTLY card on your home course and apply that to this one. There is no shame in moving forward, I played golds because that's about 142 minus my handicap. If you are forward of that, it's not an ego thing, it's about having fun! If you are all about smoking cigars and betting with your buddies and playing the tips, I want to be no where near your group. Hitting ONE drive on the screws for 280 does not make you Bubba. Sorry the rant, the course is well worth your effort to go out and play it! read more

I'm a country club member from North New Jersey. This is a very nice course. The front 9 are really nice holes with tee shots over water. The back 9 are just nice holes. Playing from the tips makes a difference. I had problems carrying my tee shots over the water and I have a tee shot about 250 carry before the ball lands. I've played most every other course in OC MD and this is the best. read more

Tee off @ 1:40...Finished @ around 7...Pace of play was terrible. We has a 5some in front of us. Had to keep picking up clubs from the group ahead of us the whole back 9. Rangers would not move the Slow player 4some ahead of them...I'm sure there was heavy play but come on...at least we had the Blue Angels flying around for the OC air Show...We still had a blast. Great course! Club House Staff was fantastic. Met one of owners(Audubon Co-op) the next day @ War Admiral...he was very gracious. read more
