TL;DR: Can be good sounding instruments. Good looking? Not so much! Customer Service is NON-EXISTENT. This review applies to gliga.com and violinslover.com -- the Las Vegas based US distributor for Gliga instruments. I have owned a Gliga cello and a Gliga Gama violin and both were great instruments in terms of sound and looks. Those instruments went on to other homes and I wanted to replace the Gliga Gama violin. I ordered from violinslover.com and got an automated order confirmation but no indication on when/how it would be shipped out. I sent 3 emails and tried calling but their phone only goes through to voicemail. EVENTUALLY, the main point of contact for Gliga USA/violinslover.com emailed me back to tell me the violin was going through the final setup and would be shipped the next day and she would send a tracking day. 2 days later an no additional word. I sent a followup email asking for the tracking number ... again, no response. Several days later, she sent a tracking number without acknowledging the delay. I get the violin and immediately upon taking it out of the box, my face falls because it is an ugly pumpkin orange that screams "cheap student violin" -- despite the fact that it is from their advanced Gama line. In addition, the wood on the edges of the top is visibly darker (not due to varnish but a seam indicating mismatched wood. It is very noticeable because of the uniformity of the orange color. Also, for what it is worth, despite purchasing the violin "new" in 2026, the label states that it was made in 2018 so clearly not "new stock". Supposedly there is a 14-day return window and I immediately emailed the day after delivery to request a return. but I can't get anyone to respond to my emails and, as I've said, they don't answer their phones or voicemails. I'm very disappointed and have no legal recourse. Will never order another Gliga again. read more

AMAZING instruments. The price is unbeatable and the craftsmanship rivals the greats. I can only speak from my experience buying the 17.5" Genova 3 Viola, but I assume it translates across their business. I am a lifelong customer now. Absolutely LOVE my new Viola. Loved it so much I am ordering another except this one will be a Genova 2. Couldn't recommend Gliga enough. read more

I can hardly express how much I appreciate what Gliga provides, offering the variety of well-made instruments they do, at accessible prices. I am an adult of relatively small stature, but with proportionately small hands. I always thought cello would be out of reach for me (in the most literal sense), but recently took the plunge to try it. I was able to find a well-made, solid wood 3/4 cello from Gliga, in a price range I could manage. The instrument has very nice tone, with a very even fullness across all the strings. The sound of the instrument compares very favorably to a 'loaner' full-size instrument (laminated, I think), that is available for students in the studio where lessons are given. I also very much recognize that Gliga offers so many sizes of instruments, and "other-handed" instruments, that are difficult to find anywhere else. (I suspect it is not as profitable to put the effort into designing and offering more than the most popular ones, but Gliga keeps providing these, and making their instruments of good quality.) This can be important for players that may have injuries or similar needs for an "other-handed" instrument. In addition, Gliga was very understanding and helpful, when I needed to change my order to a different-size cello before the order was shipped (being new to cello, and having received more information about sizing before the cello was sent). I ordered a Gliga Gama 3/4 Professional cello from Gliga Violins 7/17/24. $2,388 plus shipping $317.98 and It finally arrived 8/6/24. It did not get damaged in shipping. However, the cello has a cut on the left front edge that extends a couple of inches on the front as well as a small raised bubble on the front lower right. There was an obvious attempt to cover the cut with some type of varnish that dulled the finish. There was glue-like residue or some substance on the front of the cello under the finger board. The inside label says made under supervision of Vasile Gliga 2001, but I did not receive any paperwork/certificate indicating the model, material content (solid front or back etc.) or value. It is obvious that it has a 2 piece front and I'm not sure about the back. When I contacted them (Elena) about the damage to the cello, I was offered $405 discount which I took as it would be expensive to return the cello and they could say it was damaged in shipping. Anyone that would send out an instrument in this condition cannot be trusted. I was told that the instrument was made 2001 and it had not been played, but had been stored in their warehouse there in Las Vegas?? Fortunately, I do like the way the cello sounds when played. I had two of my violin students order violins from this company. The company promises fast delivery. However, it's been over two weeks and the violins have not been shipped. We are wondering when the violins are going to be shipped. I have tried to contact this company by phone and by email without receiving any reply. We have a UPS tracking number, a UPS label has been created, but the company has not delivered any package to UPS. Again, it is impossible to contact anyone at this business. I was looking for a new violin, and wanted something better than most Chinese imports, but not too pricey since I'm just a student level player. I researched a number of sites, looked at a lot of violins locally, but the name Gliga kept coming up. I researched the company more; it is Romanian, family owned, and they make instruments from beginner to very advanced professional quality. All instruments are made in Romania; the student / beginner instruments are started by machine then finished by hand. There are some great videos on YouTube that shows one of their workshops and how they select the wood also. Seeing all the information on Gliga was one of the main reasons I chose to purchase one. They have an office in Las Vegas for the US, and on the website you can pick the specific violin you want, not just order from a single picture. I selected one of the beginner level violins after looking at a lot, and hearing sound samples on YouTube as well. The price was quite reasonable, and Elena Gliga emailed me multiple times to update me on shipping status (as well as the automated notices). The violin arrived in 3 business days, faster than promised. It was very well packed and looks beautiful! (see pictures) It also sounds much better than many instruments costing 3-4 as much. Absolutely gorgeous Violin! Worth waaaaay more than what I paid. The best part? It was made in 2006 so the wood has had time to age a bit. Nowhere else can you get this much value for your money. Absolutely fantastic instrument and I will never buy from anyone else again. It was well packaged.. I ordered it without a case and it arrived in perfect condition. The sound is rich and the E string doesn't choke out in higher positions. The nut is the perfect height so the strings are easily played. This violin is very responsive and can tolerate fast playing with no sound compromise. Do NOT buy a cheap eBay or Amazon violin.. for a little bit more you can have a Romanian made work of art! I stumbled upon violinslover.com while searching for a gold varnished violin. Most companies only offer the standard brown/red varnish.
