Absolutely Amazed! - I dropped off an Epiphone my significant other bought me. Typically, I wouldn't buy anything but a Gibson. But, being a gift I couldn't sell it. It had sharp frets, definitely didn't have any 'ring' or sustain to it. It wasn't great to play. So I figured, being stuck with it, let's see what Topaz Guitars can do with it and their new Plek machine. I dropped it off on Saturday, a few days later Teresa sent me photos of it in the plek machine. Later that day, I was informed it was completed and booked a pickup for Saturday. LESS THAN A WEEK! For a full plek service and setup? WOW! Upon picking it up and playing it when I got home, I was in serious SHOCK. It played, sustained and RINGED better than my Gibsons. I couldn't put it down. I purchased my Taylor T5z new for 4K. After 6 months I noticed a crack in the sound board from the bridge to the bottom of the body. I called the Taylor factory and they told me that it was a humidity issue and not (of course) covered by the warranty. I really didn't want to ship it to El Cajon, CA so I started a search for a certified Taylor repair service and found Topaz Guitar Repair. I made an appointment and it took 2 months just to get an estimate for the repair. I take that in a good way because it shows that you must be good at repairing guitars if it takes that long just to get an appointment. My day finally came and I took my Taylor in for an estimate for repair. Teresa confirmed that the crack was indeed a humidity issue. She went on to say that unless I purchased a humidifier she would not do the repair because it would just crack again in a few months. I really respected that. I asked Teresa how long it would take to do the repair. She said "I don't know. 1 month, maybe 6 months.". Her shop is running humidifiers 24/7. It takes time for the wood to rehydrate. Every guitar is different. I left my guitar there, came home and ordered a commercial humidifier. Teresa had my guitar for about 6 weeks. When I went to pick it up, WOW!!!!! Teresa went above and beyond the repair. Fret level, crown dress and polish, setup, restring, soundboard crack repair-cleats-no drop fill, bridge re-glued, polished and buffed. The T5z looked and played better than the first day I took it out of the box. I highly recommend Topaz Guitar Repair. Very high quality work. After a terrible experience at The Guitar Center, I did some research and found Theresa. My Taylor was in need of some adjustment. She picked it up at my house and had it fixed in two days. This was a while back during the lockdown, so I don't imagine she still does pick up and delivery, but I don't think you'll find better service in Las Vegas!
