Very cool shop that is volunteer-run. All kind of clothes, headwear, kids stuff, decor, etc. It's cute and they've got the countries that have made the stuff on the wall. Glad they can bring a bit of some culture into this area. Some of the items are a bit expensive, but the sale section actually gave great discounts!! I love the cute, quirky cards. It would be so fun to give them to friends!! I'll have to come back!

When I grow up.... I plan to take my litter of imaginary children to Global Gifts in hopes of raising some very smart and worldly kiddos. From the Putamayo Presents CDs of international music (available to listen to samples) and geography-based books to international recipe books and toys, I have to fight the urge to purchase every cultural-based youth item I come into contact with. Similar to all of the other reviews, I love knowing where my money is going when I make a purchase at Global Gifts. In addition to the aforementioned items, they also boast a wonderful selection of house decor, jewelry, scarves and now, during the holidays, the most amazing collection of international ornaments you ever did see. The location, just a block from mi casa, makes this a frequent stop when meandering down Mass Ave's favorite shops. It feels really good to purchase products that have a story, especially when the story is bringing hope and income to others in need. Ahhh listen to me, getting all sappy writing reviews and watching sappy chick flicks at the same time. Hearts. Butterflies. Rainbows. But, in all seriousness, this place is great.

After trying out another new restaurant on Mass Avenue, my wife and I stopped in three nearby gift shops. This was our favorite. There are small items from around the world that range from jewelry and clothing, to food items, to art projects, and Christmas ornaments. There were spices and hand made greeting cards. Each item also tells you which country the crafter was from. It was mentioned by several of the staff that the artisans are paid a "fair wage" for their goods. I'm not sure who determines that wage, but it sounds like more than most places do. Anyway, we saw a number of items that interested us enough to make purchases. It was fairly busy, but the place didn't seem too crowded, so that was also a plus. Review #1833

Love this place! Anywhere I can find great handmade items and help to support a cause is the best of both worlds to me. I don't stop often but every time I do, I find an item I fall in love with or know a friend/family member would love to have.

This is a puzzle box. It is star shaped. It is complicated! I gave up.

This is a great concept for a shop. Many handmade, fair trade items from around the world. There are so many unique gifts for everyone.

Or if you just want a quick snack or drink while walking around Foubtain Square, pop on in. Everything I have bought from Rooftop Fruit has been a new favorite. From the Hey Champ miso candy bars, to lip makeup, to CBD icy hot, and wrapping paper everything has been of great quality. I go here often for stocking stuffers or birthday gifts. It's nice to be able to get people something I know that they will love while also supporting a local business and so many small businesses. Recently I went in to get some wrapping paper to wrap books for a book swap and I was so pleased with the quality of the wrapping paper for the price. I was nervous that it would be see through, but it was not see through in the slightest. I got so many compliments on the wrapping paper at the book swap! Once I run out of hand soap I really want to try their waste free options! The staff are amazing and so helpful! They're quick to show you options and help come up with ideas (or let you know when they have more inventory in the back if you like to stock up on Hey Champ bars like me).

The Accent Shop has been around since 1958 when Dick and Jane Bridgins opted to move out of their department store setting in an effort to bring a more modern style store to the Indy area offering furniture, lamps, tabletop and more. Today's The Accent Shop definitely still focuses on contemporary design, though they have a strong focus on bridal and gift registry items including dinnerware, flatware, glassware, serving pieces, collectibles, jewelry, and a bunch of other fun stuff. This new location is a little more relaxed than was Nora. For the most part, it seems a lot more spacious until you get into the Collectibles area where everything is really packed in. The employees have always been helpful here, though it's definitely in a more reserved way. In terms of accessibility, I'd likely quibble a bit with Yelp's listing that "wheelchair accessible" is one of the amenities here. While it definitely has some of the basics - for example, nearby accessible parking, appropriate curb cuts, and a level to the ground entry - The store itself is for sure a little bit hit-and-miss in terms of interior design. As I noted, this is especially true in the collectibles area where even my small manual wheelchair struggled and had to detour my path multiple times due to far too narrow aisles. I can't imagine a power chair being successful here. That said, the front of the store is vastly superior to the Nora location in terms of space and design. That was nice to see. I also really love the options here. I think the collectibles section bugged me in terms of access precisely because that was my favorite area of the store. From Christmas wares to a surprisingly large (and unique) Halloween section, I was really impressed here. I loved some of the candles. I loved the garden flags. The glassware was awesome. I think my two favorite sections are likely the kitchenwares and the seasonal collectibles. I can easily see myself returning come Halloween. Prices vary. You can sure spend a modest amount here, though there are also some higher-end items. There's something special about a shop that reminds you of the value of in-person shopping. I really enjoyed shopping here and loved the diversity of the items. Overall, I'd easily return and I very likely will during both Halloween and Christmas. While I do wish the layout was a bit more wheelchair friendly, there's an obvious effort here and I'm guessing 3/4 of the store is easily accessible and for the most part going very slowly and with care I was able to see most everything I wanted to see.

An entire wall is filled with beautiful glassware, perfect for wedding presents. They carry a lot of traditional decor, that is hard to find now. I bought several cute cards. Prices are reasonable. Peg, the clerk, was engaging, helpful and ambassador for the area. (She sent me to the nearby cupcake shop after I checked out.) She also made sure that we had an invite to their upcoming holiday open house. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot.
