Overall: not a terrible experience, but I am not sure if I would return. The staff is friendly, and I made an appointment online and got seated right away. That's always a plus! But, the value overall is not there. When I walked in, the first woman who approached me told me she would be doing my toes and hands for both of my services. I barely got seated in the spa chair and a walk-in called and the nail tech then told me that she was going to pass me off to somebody else while she handled the walk-in. To be honest, you shouldn't tell me you're prioritizing another client over me, especially when that client isn't even present. The lady that she passed me off to do my toes was very friendly, and the pedicure itself wasn't bad but the paint job wasn't great. I honestly couldn't tell until I got home just how untidy my toe paint was. Even when we started the appointment, she slightly burned my skin while removing my old gel polish from my toes. Therefore, my toe stung through my entire appointment. When it was time to finish my manicure/gel ex set on my hands, I had to repeat myself three times to tell them I wanted French tip. And when you tell nail technicians that you want a short nail, somehow that is really hard to comprehend. I also blame this on the fact that this is now the third nail technician I'm dealing with so it just felt like everything got lost in translation and I really feel like three people totaled my nails and there's no cohesiveness to the final look. My nails aren't terrible and they will do and I'm not a picky person at all. But I am hesitant to come back. I think that there is great potential here and I still think it's a good salon, but maybe just not the one for me. read more

Came in on a Saturday, made an appointment online, but they weren't too busy so I don't think it's necessary! The staff were super kind and attentive. The salon is spotless. They have a huge variety of polishes. I really enjoyed my gel manicure. They will fix your nails up to two weeks after service if something goes wrong. They offer tea, water, wine, and champagne. I will definitely be back to try out a pedicure. This location is a great additional to the Ballston/Virginia square area. read more

Stopped by because they were newly opened and I was curious! It was my first time trying builder gel (diverting from SNS). I didn't have an appointment. The staff were kind, offering me a beverage upon arrival, and Phuong's attention to detail and gentleness throughout the service was phenomenal! Pretty sure she also stayed after close to finish my nails. I was looking for something clean and natural and Phuong knew exactly what to do. For a holiday treat, I booked the Lavender Bliss pedicure, which is described as a relaxing experience with a lavender sugar scrub, hydrating masque, warm lavender paraffin, hot towel wrap, and massage. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but relaxing. The lavender paraffin treatment was scalding hot. The moment it was placed on my foot, I had to immediately push the bag off because it was burning. My heel turned bright red right away and is still tender--I had to apply burn cream multiple times yesterday and again this morning. The technician apologized twice, but the situation was preventable. I observed other technicians cooling the paraffin and testing the temperature on the top of the guest's foot (in the bag) before applying it. My daughter, seated next to me, even told her technician it was too hot initially--but he cooled it down before proceeding. That simple precaution was not taken with me. Once my service ended, the technician walked away and never came back to check on me. My daughter's tech removed the toe spacers. At check out, there was no offer of a discount, and as we left there was no thank you or goodbye. For a service marketed around comfort and relaxation, the lack of follow-up and care was disappointing. We will not be returning. read more

Terrible service and dirty salon. Leaving now with cuts along my cuticles and nail polish all over my fingers. What a waste of $70. The tech I had was extremely rough and after telling her multiple times she was hurting me I am now leaving with a cut that is burning, I'm scared I'm going to get an infection. I also noticed a ROACH in their Barbicide container. Nice to know they're cleaning their tools with roaches in their cleaning supplies. Never again. Terrible salon. Now I have to spend even more money to get these terrible nails fixed. The nail's themselves look lumpy and uneven, they're truly terrible. read more

Reasons for my review: - I was burned several times during my pedicure from the water being too hot. This may have been due to the weather outside being bad. - I was cut several times with the files(refer to picture). - The design pictured is not what I wanted, and I would have appreciated someone just saying they can't do it. - The overall appointment took 3 hours. Don't walk, RUN...to Gloss Bar! Newly opened. Passed it a couple times, so decided to try it out. It's very clean and beautiful! The decor is upscale and understated. The pedicure stations and manicure chairs are very comfortable! The chairs are wider so all the stations felt spread out even when next to someone. You can tell they took a lot of time in the details when setting up. All of the staff was smiling and friendly! They offered me a drink and/or a snack. I got a pedicure/manicure. I could tell they use quality supplies and products. I love my nails and left feeling relaxed! Will definitely be back! read more

I've been going to the Gloss Bar location in DC since it opened, and now I'm so excited to see that they have opened a second one in Arlington! What makes Gloss Bar stand out is their quality. They guarantee that you will not get any chips in your dip or gel manicure for two weeks, or they'll fix your nail for free. Getting my nails done every three to four weeks for years, I've only had to take them up on their guarantee a few times. I appreciate that so much. Besides that: this is a new salon, so all of the massage chairs, etc are new and shiny. Everything is super clean. They've always been excellent with their sanitation. This Arlington location of Gloss Bar met and exceeded all my expectations. I had the best scalp/head spa experience with Vi. I am new to scalp spa but it was amazingly relaxing, I will 100% be returning for that treatment again. The treatment never felt rushed, and Vi was so kind. She gave me a warm eye mask with a heated blanket to lay on during the entire process. My hair and scalp feel refresh and clean and not oily at all (as a fine hair girl I was worried about that). She used a couple different scalp massage tools as well as her hands- all felt great. They even give you a hair dryer after so you don't leave looking Iike a wet dog. Jenny gave me a relaxing pedicure and let me add an extra layer of polish to deepen the color on my nails. She was quiet and kind with strong hands- recommend adding the 20 mins of massage, so worth it and they have a timer so you can be assured you get what you pay for. I've been a loyal customer to the DC location. I'm so happy to see this salon expand into Arlington. The quality is top notch, they offer a variety of colors including Gel x, builder gel, and dip. They have specialty colors and designs on request. This salon is stunning, clean and offers drinks and snacks (red and white wine, champagne and mimosas, Vietnamese iced coffee, cookies and cupcakes!). Also loved my natural mani and the hand massage was top tier! I recommend Tyson and the other nail techs here are all so nice! read more
