Our stay at The…read moreHay-Adams was deeply disappointing and fell far short of basic expectations, let alone what you would expect from a property claiming five-star luxury. For the rates they charge, the conditions and service are unacceptable. The building is old, heavily dated, and features cheap fixings. The bathroom is tiny, featuring a cramped round sink with virtually zero counter space to set down any personal items. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake. After we went through, not even a complimentary breakfast or really anything. Shocked that this place is more expensive than Four Seasons, St. Regents, and the kind. This is barely a three star hotel (except location of course). Stay away.

Too bad stored blankets were unavailable for sleepers wanting more warmth than their traveling companions. We had to make a second request for one. May I also suggest providing more than one bar of mini soap bars. It's such a minuscule cost item but would obviate having to repeatedly move the precious one bar from sink to shower. We found the valet staff particularly helpful especially when navigating awkward arrivals and parking needs of our personal guests. Sean was a prince. He supervised an otherwise complicated set of logistics with competence and gentlemanly grace. Another shout out to the manager ( sou?) of the breakfast dining. We watched him rigorously oversee staff and guests while occasionally stepping in when helpful. His leadership is likely responsible for the professionalism of said staff. This is in direct contrast to the staff of the Willard across the street where we took the first breakfast of our stay. We were dismayed to have to endure extremely loud staff socializing, boisterous laughter and downright flirting. This type of behavior would have been unacceptable at the JWMarriott. This experience alone confirms our future choice of Marriott over Willard for annual DC visits.

Upon welcome we received free Trolley tickets for one day and some food credits, probably based on our Bonvoy Status (we travel all the time). The price for a room I guess because of the multiple conventions in the place was excessive. I think for a room, not a suite, it would have ben $750 per night during the week. I thought that was a lot so we used points, and the 1st night they had not held our King Room for us, and despite being our anniversary, we had to sleep in a double room and move the next day. Unfortunately, the double room was quiet, and the King Room had an adjoining door and we heard every little thing from the room next door. I would put this down one point, but the service, staffing and helpful Concierge made this place really nice for us.

His name is Sam and he was so patient with us and took so many photos for us. We really had the best conversation with him. He gave us the history of the hotel as well as recommendations for other places around the city Whenever we needed anything he was right there and beyond accommodating. We will definitely be back and will make a point to ask for him next time. It's pretty rare now to get a server who is hard at work but also will stop and take the time to answer your questions and make genuine conversation.

I've been here for dinner and drinks at Estuary so I was familiar but I am grateful to have stayed here this week. The bed was comfy, not sure it's better than my fave hotel but it did the job. The closet space was excellent, the restroom was nice, no tub in the bathroom but very modern and chic shower. For $800 a night I loved all the extra touches they do like putting water and slippers on the side of the bed. We were able to partake in the food but with Del Friscos, Estuary and all the good eats around we passed on the perk all week. Overall, this hotel is nice. Would definitely stay again. He's bougie so yes he'll be back with me in tow.

I texted the hotline and they said okay- when we returned to the room it was still unbearable!! I reported this to the gentleman at the desk and he said "well there's nothing I can do about it" turns out he's the general manager. Absolutely disappointing and horrible customer service. We had also requested extra towels and pillows to be put in our room during housekeeping over the text which was confirmed but never followed through. The general manager tried to gaslight me saying it already had been done but it was not and he wouldn't listen without me getting frustrated. 0/10 for customer service for the manager. Maya- another employee 10/10 very kind and polite- we didn't experience her assistance until we were leaving but she was more helpful than anyone else the whole stay.

This hotel is an 8 min walk to the White House. We arrived late on a Sunday and they have valet parking ($70/night). You could park yourself in a lot right across the street for only $30 but who knew? The room was small with 1 king bed, desk, ottoman type "chair/stool" BUT! It met our needs. The bathroom was spacious and the water was hot. It had a closet for our coats and a hallway which we utilized for luggage. The free coffee was Godsend and the free breakfast 6am-10am was perfect! Cereal, breads, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, sausage patties, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, juice and probably more. They had a lot of of options for even picky eaters. The buffet was clean and well stocked. When we came back from our event, we were harried to check out but the front desk staff was patience and gracious. We were able to sit in the nice lobby, with free wifi, and have a hot coffee. I highly recommend this hotel for its location, amenities and excellent customer service.

Everything seems like it's been updated fairly recently which is nice. The lobby is bright and inviting and they have a cute bar area with lots of seating and a fireplace. Our stay came with drink tickets, so it was nice to sit at the bar and relax with a drink. This is in the heart of downtown so you can easily walk to all of the sights. The hotel offers valet parking, but for a much cheaper option you can book a nearby parking garage. Overall this is a solid option if you need somewhere to stay in downtown DC that won't break the bank, but is also nice and comfortable.

I chose the Melrose Georgetown because of location. I arrived to the hotel earlier than expected,…read moreabout 1:30pm-2:00pm. I went to check-in,hoping that my room would be ready. I was told right away that my room was ready but there's a $50 charge to get into your room early. I thought it was a little crazy to charge someone extra to get into a room that is ready. So I paid the $50. They told me about the amenities. Including the $10 bottle of water in the room. The room looked nice. The Furniture looked high-end. But that's only on the surface. I'm not sure how secure the room is. I say this because the door latch/lock is about halfway off the door. Routine maintenance apparently isn't a thing. The room was also EXTREMELY dusty. The Bed: the mattress didn't have much give. To be honest, it felt like somebody had put a small pad over center blocks bed. It was very hard and extra firm. The sheets and bedspread was nice, but the fitted sheet appears to be worn out. Or maybe too big for the mattress. The fitted sheet does not take much to get loose and starting to raise up off the edges. I noticed just laying on the bed the fitted sheet becomes loose, a lot more than it should be The pillows feels like somebody took some padding and chopped it up into 1000 little pieces and then sewed it in a pillowcase. The pillows may have been top-notch when bought. They're definitely not now. The Bathroom also is where looks can be deceiving at first glance. The countertop and sink were fine, however the countertop did have numerous paint chips, but I guess that's just normal wear. There is a door that separates the toilet and the bathtub. Toilet seat is extremely loose and moves back-and-forth very easy. It would not take much for it to come flying off. The first day I noticed while using the bathroom, there are several brown stains and on the wall. If you're sitting on the commode, it is well within arms reach maybe a foot away from the toilet. I have no clue what it is, but I'm guessing either blood or poop. Either way, there is a big smear on the wall. And then other various similar brown marks around it. The bathtub has numerous rust marks. The tub is a broken hip waiting to happen. The tub is curved at the bottom so it's not necessarily a flat surface. If you're taking a shower, between the soap and the water, my feet slid around several times. Also, at the base of the door frame, where the shower is, the wood is split numerous times. The bathroom door looks like somebody tried to punch it open. There's a small crack above the door knob. The Hotel: according to Google, the Melrose Georgetown is a four star luxury boutique Hotel. Luxury or not there are several things that are absent. Trash cans in the common areas. Other than your room. The only other trashcan they have is in the lobby. Several times during the week I've had to go downstairs to put something in the trashcan. I'm not sure why, but I feel there should be a trashcan on each floor, even if it's by the elevators. Ice machines is another thing that's absent. They have one you just have to go down to the lobby and ask someone at the desk to get it. Depending on who's at the desk, you may get an attitude. There's one lady who's been there the majority of the week who seemed very irritated anytime I came to ask for ice or anything. I had several occasions where I would ask this lady something and it seemed that it was such a hassle for her just to answer the question. A few evenings ago I asked another one of the front desk clerks about Uber availability early in morning. She seemed very irritated that I even asked her a question. I got a one word answer "yeah". I wished I knew these ladies names. I believe I know one of their names. But these ladies are giving your hotel a bad name with their attitude. Convenience or not I definitely would seek out another hotel if I'm ever in the area again. Between the bed, the unknown stains wall next to the toilet, the rude staff member in the added price to get in a room that's already available is unnecessary. And with the price I paid for the room the bed should not be uncomfortable Also at checkout this morning I had an additional $200 in fees, such as Historical fees. I thought I had already pain in full (minus the room service cost). So this charge seemed like a surprise full of random fees. ROOM 832

Between mobile phones, laptops, GoPro cameras, and wireless headphones, accessible plug-in space was limited. In 2026, we travel with gear. We need juice. I shouldn't have to choose between charging my phone or my camera like it's a reality show elimination round. HVAC plot twist: the building was pushing hot air in February. We adapted like seasoned road warriors -- cracked the windows and let 35° D.C. air do the work. Cross-ventilation victory. The embroidered dark "Makeup" towel? Chef's kiss. The check-in process was efficient. I had requested a room on the highest floor possible, and the hotel was able to accommodate that request (8th floor ~ their last floor), which I appreciated. Upon arrival, there was a refreshing infused water station with lemons, limes, and oranges available for guests. Our room also included 2 complimentary bottles of water. The room itself was spacious, clean, and quiet. The bathroom was nicely appointed with both a bathtub and a separate shower. The shower was enjoyable, although the water pressure could have been stronger. 2 minor issues were: the TV remote, which was difficult to use. The buttons required a lot of pressure to work, possibly due to age or weak batteries. Iron leaked as we were ironing our clothes. Checkout was incredibly easy and smooth. Sydney was welcoming and friendly, asked whether I needed a printed receipt, and quickly let me know that I was all set to go. One thing to keep in mind is that most hotels in the central Washington, D.C., area charge for parking. The Kimpton George offers valet parking for $68 + tax per night, but there is a parking garage directly across the street for about $35, which is a much more economical option. KIMPTON George Hotel is a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located hotel near Union Station and the U.S. Capitol. With good service and a quiet atmosphere, I would consider staying here again.

Don't make a promise and not follow through. My biggest complaint was on checkout. I needed a receipt but they said they were running an audit and couldn't provide one. They couldn't even email me one. I really needed the receipt but the front desk receptionist-Chris was what he called himself, was rude and unhelpful. I even needed a taxi and he seemed put out to have to help me. This is not the level of service I expect from a hotel like this.

(Then as we were leaving there was another couple in the lobby saying "They put us in the basement??") This apparently used to be a glorious room with a high ceiling but the space has been awkwardly chopped up including a bathroom wall that doesn't go up to the ceiling. And the bathroom had no exhaust vent, so it steams up when you shower and then if you want to see the mirror to shave or brush your teeth you're out of luck. But what was really galling is their note saying that "to enhance our stay" they have charged us an extra $35/day basically for 2 small bottles of Dasani water. Oh that also covers the loan of vintage board games. No coffeemakers in the rooms. You make your way to the lobby and stand in line. The room had a guide to historic hotels. It listed many there in DC that would have been much better.

Unfortunately, our experience was so disappointing that I can confidently say I will never stay here again when I return for future residencies. On our first full day, we returned to our room to find that a power bank was missing and several of our belongings had been moved. I am an extremely organized person, so it was immediately obvious that items were not where I had left them. After thoroughly searching the room without success, my boyfriend went to the front desk to ask for assistance. Rather than taking our concerns seriously, the staff member he spoke with was rude, dismissive, and even accused him of not being able to "get his story straight." When he returned and explained what had happened, I called the front desk myself. Within approximately two minutes, I received a callback informing me that a "security investigation" had already been completed and that no one had entered our room. Given the almost immediate response, I have serious doubts about how thorough any investigation could have been. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, I was told that we must have "misplaced" our belongings. The conversation remained dismissive from start to finish. To make matters even more concerning, the following day I again noticed that personal items had been moved to places I would never have put them. Considering we consistently had our Do Not Disturb sign displayed, the hotel's explanation simply did not align with what we experienced. We were also supposedly "upgraded" to a different room, but it was anything but an upgrade. We were placed in a connecting room next to guests who repeatedly opened and slammed the adjoining door and were loud well into the night, making it difficult to rest. In addition, our television never functioned during our stay, and our mini refrigerator stopped working entirely. This was more than a minor inconvenience. Because I have medically necessary gluten- and soy-free dietary restrictions due to allergies and other health concerns, I rely on bringing my own safe food while traveling. When the refrigerator failed, all of my refrigerated food spoiled and had to be thrown away. What disappointed me most was not just the condition of the room, but the complete lack of professionalism and accountability from the staff. Mistakes happen in hospitality, but how those mistakes are handled is what separates excellent hotels from poor ones. At no point did I feel that our concerns were genuinely investigated or that anyone cared about resolving them. Instead, we were met with skepticism, dismissiveness, and a lack of basic customer service. Having worked in the hospitality industry myself for several years, I understand the standards guests should be able to expect. This experience fell well below those standards. Respect, empathy, and professionalism cost nothing, yet they were noticeably absent throughout our stay. If you're looking for accommodations in Washington, D.C., I would strongly encourage you to consider one of the many other hotels in the area. The location alone is not worth the frustration, poor service, and overall lack of hospitality we experienced.

Everyone I interacted with was so friendly and welcoming. The doormen, the front desk, the managers, and all other staff were wonderful. The Rosewood has a small, well-appointed sitting room next to reception that smells amazing and offers coffee. The gym and pool are located on the roof, along with the rooftop bar, CUT Above. The rooftop views are great, though I sadly did not make it to CUT Above. My room was fantastic and I never wanted to leave. I basically locked myself in it for my stay, leaving only for a visit to CUT (the hotel's delicious restaurant) and venturing out for breakfast. I love that the rooms have a vanity to do your makeup, though the mirror is a bit too low. The bed was supremely comfortable. But the bathroom is what really stands out. It was huge, with a gorgeous tub and lovely rainfall shower. I barely left the tub and shower. Everything was immaculately clean. This was my first stay at a Rosewood property and it will not be my last. The attention to detail, service, and ambiance were absolutely perfect.

I also have to recognize Maxime as she has a great personality, light, easy to speak with and kind. Great customer service! I have stayed in Lebua (Thailand), jW Marriott in South Korea and other hotels and never paid an additional fee to provide a room that it is already ready as they know you will be there.

For the marketing they put out on the website and in hotel brochures it is a total catfish for what it actually is. The locker rooms feel like an afterthought with old carpet, dim lighting, and a sauna that doesn't even work. It's like your average ymca locker room but add carpet and a broken sauna. The luxury vibe does not have staff that matches. It's a good atmosphere but with staff that has no clue what's is going on is unhelpful and will not accommodate special events or acknowledge if they made a mistake. The lobby is small and quaint and the restaurant is located after you pass the bar. We were seated asap on a Saturday morning, and the decor was casual yet sophisticated. I opted for the chicken sausage breakfast and the potato stacks were yummy along with the added banana muffin. Our friendly waiter was efficient and the turnaround on our food was prompt. Overall, a pleasant breakfast and I would recommend the Lyle restaurant.
