Where can I begin? I've never been so impressed. I consider myself a bit of a beauty fanatic-- I know a lot about skincare, having struggled with acne and rosacea throughout the past decade, and going through rounds of accutane, laser treatments, etc. I've gotten a number of facials before, but had dissatisfactory results from most. I'm new to the area and decided to give this place a try, as my skin hasn't been at its best recently. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Shia. From the very beginning of the session I could tell she was brilliant just from the questions she asked me. Her knowledge of cosmetic skin disorders and their treatment outweighs most, if not all, of the dermatologists I've seen. As a physician myself, I like to think I'm good at assessing this. Shia explained that although my skin type wasn't right for "granular exfoliation" (what I'd received in other facials in the past that I had bad reactions to), I was a great candidate for microdermabrasion. She used this treatment along with quite a few others, always being attentive to how my skin was responding. She gave me advice on what skincare regimen would work for my skin. I can tell my skin is already looking better (less than 24hrs later), and I'm excited to continue with Shia monthly for as long as I live in this area! Already referred a friend to her as well. Go. Horrible experience from start to finish. What made it worse was that the esthetician doing my facial was clearly sick--sniffling and congested the entire time. Shortly after, I ended up getting a cold and a cold sore, and now I'm left with a scar on my lip. My daughter also had a terrible reaction--she broke out badly after her facial. Because of all this, I canceled future appointments for my family, and instead of showing any concern, they charged me a cancellation fee. Customer service and management are worse than the service they provide. As a physician, I take hygiene and safety seriously, and this place completely missed the mark. I absolutely approve of this business. I have been a customer of Glow Med Spa for over a decade, and I wont go to anyone else! This was my first time at this particular location though. I normally go to Short Pump, but I wanted to get a massage on my birthday and this Northside location had a time slot for me. I was not disappointed, not only did Skye provide an awesome deep tissue massage for me, but she was kind enough to give me a small discount in honor of my birthday. That was so sweet and unexpected, but I really appreciated it. (She didnt know it but at that moment I was unemployed, so I really appreciated that gift.) In my 20s, I went to Shia for Brazilian waxes, then she started to offer facials. She would always charge me for one service so that I would buy products and knew that I'd tip her generously. (A friend from work recommended her and told me upfront that she she would tip well since Shia would not charge for all of the services. So, I'm sure that Nancy, the owner of Bella Donna probably didn't realize this for all those years). Basically, Shia burned my face with some acid peel. I remember the sound of it when I cried out. When I got home, I had a raw spot that blistered. Because I didn't want Shia to get in trouble (and she happened to be dating a friend from a larger social group), I texted her about it and panicked. She told me not to come to the salon and she drove to my house with some ointment from Dermatologica. She told me not to tell her boss. I should not have trusted her and filed a complaint. So many weird or unethical things like lying about not knowing where I could get lash extensions done (she had a poster in the room for them); and, I guess she didn't want me to have them. I stopped going to her and went to a different aesthetician after that, whom helped lighten the scar after the scab went away. Below and behold, in my late 30s, the hyperpigmentation appeared. I reached out to Shia, and she pretended that she didn't know me or remember what happened. She told me to reach out to Bella Donna (which I see that the original owner Nancy retired from). I asked to cover the cost of the Pico Laser treatments required to remove the spot (per my several dermatologists). I am disappointed that she refused as well as didn't even apologize as someone who did give her lots of cash as compensation (for what she didn't charge me for at Bella Donna). I was young and just wanted to support the friends in my circle. In any case, I'm disappointed by her response and refusal to accept responsibility, not only as someone who was a client, but also a friend. read more

It really saddens me that in 2019 businesses lack empathy. I called to let them know that I needed to cancel my appointment because I had just experienced a miscarriage and the phone rep didn't offer an I'm so sorry you experienced that but instead I'm sorry but we still have to charge you the cancellation fee. I understand that the policy is in place for cancellations less than 24 hours but you really think I was concerned about canceling appointments going through this situation?! Get it bright, get it bright get it tight! Thank you, Bubba Sparxxx, for making a catchy tune that will never die. Anyway, this ain't about Bubba. This is about Glow. My wedding is in four weeks. FOUR. Did I really just write that? Please excuse my disbelief. Can't believe it's really here! What brought me to Glow? Stress, a weekend in Miami, and angry, dry skin meant that my skin was a wreck. I had had friends who gave rave reviews of Glow and after looking at the prices (much cheaper than other places) I decided to give it a go for my pre-wedding beautification. It's been exactly a week later and my skin is still soft and glowing. I scheduled the Deep Pore Glow Facial with Jawanda. This included a consultation, exfoliation, masks, massage, and extractions. Even though my appointment backed into their closing time, I never once felt like she was rushing. She explained that I could benefit from Microderm or Dermaplane add ons. Even though I chose not to add anything at the time, it was good to know all the information about each service and I have been thinking about adding it again next time. This experience was the perfect stress relief after 9 months of wedding planning was starting to wear on me. They advised me to come back a couple of days before the wedding so that my skin will be in tip top shape. I loved the atmosphere at Glow (free wine while you wait! Serene trees line the hallway) and actually can't believe it's in an unassuming strip mall. The only reason why I'm leaving a star off is because while I liked my esthetician, I did feel like she was a little nervous and maybe not as knowledgeable as I would have liked. The customer service and quality of their service could not be WORSE. The blankets were threadbare, the "aesthetician" did not know a single one of the products I use - then why do they bother asking before the service? Because it starts the clock running on the duration of the service. She talked about the juvederm services they provide, but didn't know where the office was. She also mentioned she's getting fillers from another place/person she found on Instagram. The facials there are worthless. The receptionist who called to confirm my appointment told me the wrong date. Then she giggled and said "my bad!" They're incredibly inflexible, and I think it must be because they hurt for business. I loathe to leave a bad review (not that my one review would sway a consumer one or another...) for a local small business, but it doesn't deserve the business of anyone. The waxing is great and the technicians are good -BUT- BEWARE of the front desk coordinators. I scheduled my wax for 1/3/22 but unfortunately it snowed that day and they were closed. I called on 1/7/22 to re-schedule and they were friendly and quick to reschedule me for 1/14/22 and acknowledged that my appointment was canceled on 1/3/21. On the evening of 1/7/22 I see a $37.50 cancellation fee??? on 1/11/22 I called to inquire and they stated that I had an appointment on 1/6/22 that I had no clue about and that's why I was charged. I was then told (with an attitude) I had 2 appointments that week, one for 1/11/14 and one for 1/14/22 for the same exact services..huh??? Who gets waxed 3 days apart? Obviously another error in their system but of course they refused to acknowledge it. They then claim they called me several times and miraculously my phone number no longer works although they never had an issue before. So now I'm out of $37.50 and if I had not called to inquire about the original charges, I would have been charged again for an appointment I did not make. My husband and I moved last week from Brooklyn to Richmond and had spent the last seven days stooping, bending, and unpacking boxes. So it's with sore, aching shoulders; stiff neck; migraine; and wound-up hamstrings that I slouched into Glow Med. I left nourished and loose, and with a clear mind and the smells of lavender and peppermint essential oils in my hair. Patrick is as much a healer as a massage therapist. He was focused, but with insight and care driving his technique. He let me pick which aromas I liked from a row of lemongrass, eucalyptus, two kinds of lavender, and chamomile to name a few. Patrick was asked specific questions about where I hurt and kneaded my muscles without collapsing them. He also customized my massage so I ended up with a combination of deep tissue and sports massage, which included stretches. Glow Med is a gorgeous, soothing sanctuary. It's candlelit and hushed and meditative and smells like heaven. I relaxed and drifted off as Patrick worked and even my migraine had dissolved into vapor by the end of my session. read more

I decided to drop some dough and get a facial. No matter what I was doing at home, I couldn't get my pores unclogged (i know TMI). Anyway, I called Glow on a whim and got in the day after. When I walked in, I felt like I was walking into a dim forest. It is so beautiful inside! There are these tree sculptures against the walls everywhere! It's really neat. And of course it smells amazing, so you are instantly relaxed. I never get facials because I feel like they kinda achieve what chiropractors do - feel good at the time but don't really fix anything. But I was WRONG. Olga is first of all a beautiful goddess, and second, a magician! She made my pores go from gaping to almost gone. I could not stop looking at my skin. It was hydrated, glowing, and smooth. And the facial was only $70 - I got a scalp, hand, and neck massage, took a little nap, and got great skin - not a bad deal. I will definitely return. read more

Great experience at the Glow Med Spa! Went for a wax and Olga did an amazing job. The soft wax (used without strips, they pull the wax itself) worked so much better then hard wax (which is what I was used to for previous waxes). They also show a lot of concern to make sure you take proper care of the area you waxed and give great tips to keep yourself smooth and bump free! I liked the results so much I booked my follow up appointment on the spot! Don't be fooled by the exterior, this spa is great, clean (never redipped a stick), and very welcoming. I've only given them 1 star as NO stars wasn't an option. I booked an appointment for a brazilian 2 WEEKS AGO at this location as the Carytown location was booked. I spoke to a young lady over the phone, gave her all of my info, and confirmed the date. Usually, I get a phone call or email a few days before the appointment, yet I heard nothing. I thought it was no big deal, so early Saturday morning, I headed to my appointment. I walked in, and the young lady at the desk greeted me and began to check me in. When I gave her my name, she asked "Hmm..are you sure its this location?" Red flag number 1. I told her yes and she proceeded to look for my name again. After a few minutes, she says "I don't have you on the books for today at all. It looks like the reservation was cancelled." RED FLAG NUMBER 2. I told her that I NEVER got a phone call or email to confirm the appointment so who would've cancelled it?! She pretty much says "I don't know, but the good thing is we have an opening and she can take you today." I go to sit down, and HALF AN HOUR LATER, the young lady that was to do my wax comes out and says "Hey, so I heard about the issue with the scheduling and there's absolutely no way I can take you right now. You can come back at 3 and I'll give you the manager's number..." I gave her a blank stare and said "Okay". How was the front desk agent able to see that you were available, but now you're not?! After waiting half an hour you decide to come out and tell me I'd need to come back in 4 hours?! I got in my car, called EUROPEAN WAX CENTER across the street and they took me right away. I was given no real apology and it seemed like no one cared. I was promised that I would get a phone call from a manager to sort everything out, and i have YET to receive a phone call or email. I will never come here again and EWC will be my new wax home. Work on your scheduling systems and make sure to verify your clients' information before hanging up the phone. I am reviewing the spa based on the massage I received. This is the only service I had so the rating is not based on anything else but the massage and therapist. The one issue I had that I hope has been rectified is that they did not accept credit cards for tips and made you walk a few doors down to the ATM to get cash as my massage was a gift. Not great folks. I will say that I find the scary forest trees that are in the massage room to be overkill and they really didn't need them. The massage was by a tall African American gentleman who was all business. He listened, inquired, and followed my direction as to my preferences. I have had at least 50 massages and his was one of the best for sure. I've tried tons of different spas for facials and Glow is by far the best. It's affordable and they take such great care of you. The staff is very knowledgeable and the atmosphere is amazing. After reading all of the great reviews about this med spa, I decided to give it a try myself. I scheduled a facial (which was reasonably priced), and the customer service was excellent when scheduling. I arrived to Glow Med Spa for the first time and greeted with the warm, and soothing atmosphere, lemon water, and TOP NOTCH customer service. My facial was with Cody, and she was amazing!!! She was very knowledgeable in her products and about skincare. Cody took her time, and I truly felt like I was getting a customized service. I highly recommend Cody and Glow Med Spa and I'm looking forward to going back for more services, especially my next facial. (I've already booked a massage). This place was surprisingly quaint! I say that because I have never been to this part of town and it's in a very random location. I was a little annoyed at first bc my lady, Brenda, was 1/2 hour late for my Appt with an overlap. I quickly got over it because she was very apologetic about the Appt being misbooked so it took longer than intended. She was very sweet, experienced, professional, and gentle. I've been waxed a ton of times and I really liked her a lot. Most of the time I don't care who I get bc I move so much but I will definitely request her next time! As soon as you step through the doors, you are taken to a tranquil atmosphere. The decor is fun, there are "trees and branches" coming out of the walls and ceiling and there is mellow music that soothes you. This was my first time coming here. I got a prenatal massage from Lauren Chambers, and it was amazing! From the very start, Lauren made sure I was comfortable and encouraged me to let her know if I needed her to change the pressure if I felt any discomfort. Well, I like really firm massages, so no discomfort from me! She focused on the areas where I was feeling tense and got rid of all my knots! I will definitely be coming back again for another prenatal massage, and afterwards too! I recently went here for a waxing before my wedding. I don't usually wax, opting for more economic options but I might keep this one up b/c the prices were great and the service optimal. I should remember the lady's name who helped me but I don't. She said she'd been doin this for over 8 years but is newer to Glow Med Spa. She is knowledgeable about Med Spa's products and as gentle as any anyone waxing my "hoo ha" could be! :) She was great at walking me through a painful service (akin to a tattoo artist saying "and now we're getting near the bone where it will hurt!" ) and had a great sense of humor, putting me at ease. She also accomodated an eyebrow and moustasha waxing, although I had not scheduled this previously. Although I rated this moderate, it's only because I didn't want to mislead anyone with an "inexpensive" rating. The prices are expected of such services and a tip encouraged! Great. read more

What a gorgeous gem of a business! Was referred here by a coworker to redeem my fiance's gift of a spa day for my birthday. I just had time for a massage, but I will be returning for sure next month before my wedding! Lauren gave me a fantastic 60 minute Swedish massage. I have been struggling with really awful back and neck pain since I graduated from college last year, and I even went to see a chiropractor in the fall. Unfortunately, it was too expensive and I had to stop. The kicker: after 60 minutes with Lauren I felt more relaxed and less tense than I ever did while I was seeing a chiropractor! She was very attentive to what I needed and how much pressure I could take. Can't say enough good things! The salon is pristine, and you feel like you've gone to another world once you walk in. After a week of stress at work, it was exactly what the doctor ordered. The woman at the front desk was wonderful, and I even got to spend a few minutes discussing facial options with an esthetician. Fingers crossed that someone cancels an appointment in the next two weeks so I can come in and get a facial at this fabulous place before my wedding! Lastly, I was such a horrible customer and forgot to grab my checkbook this morning and had no cash. The woman at the front desk told me instead of a tip, just review on Yelp! So I'm doing both! I try to get massages every 1-2 months but with a recent move to Richmond, I hadn't been in about 6 :(. I decided to try Glow Med Spa after hearing great things. I was not disappointed. Walking in to the spa is instantly calming. The music and ambience is a 10. I liked that they also had signs to say this is a quiet zone, please silence cell phones and take conversations outside. Glow was very clean and you could tell they took pride in their appearance. I had a 60 minute swedish massage with Nikki. She is amazing!
