Hands down one of the best places for massages and facials I've ever been to!!! 1) You don't tip! This never happens! Every establishment especially restaurants and fast food give you the option to tip. Not this place! 2) So easy to make the appointment online. Straightforward and manageable. 3) Street parking around the building was easy to find. 4). The place was quaint and peaceful. And it smelled relaxing and welcoming!! The staff were so kind and knew their stuff! I had a massage with Kendall and she was amazing!!! I wish I had more than an hour session because it was perfect. Moderate pressure and made the whole experience so relaxing- I had the hot stones and towels which made the whole experience so much better. Next, I had a facial with Maricela. I've been here a handful of times, and have seen Kendall for every visit. She is probably the best massage therapist I have ever seen, and I've been getting regular massage for about 10 years now. I had struggled to find a new therapist that was amazing (they were all *fine* if you know what I mean) so I am so glad to have found her. She identifies and treats problem areas without it hurting, and has done cupping each time to increase blood flow and help work out knots. Online booking is a huge plus! As far as covid compliance goes, she works out of a large room with great air flow and an additional air purifier. Masks are worn the whole time, which doesn't take away from the experience. Lastly, I need a special type of receipt showing the services received so that I can submit it to my FSA, and the owner, Ryan, is always quick to respond to my email requests for those receipts. Kendall is the best! I had a 30-minute massage today, and it was top notch. I got to the place about 10 minutes early, and she took me in immediately and explained a few things to get started. She asked if I had any areas I wanted her to focus on, and I explained I had some knots in my shoulders. She let me choose the oil fragrance - either rosemary plus mint or orange plus vanilla (I think). After smelling both, I chose the former. Kendall proceeded to let me know the bed was slightly warm, and asked what level of pressure I wanted. She was super sweet during this initial conversation! We got started soon after that, and the massage was EXACTLY what I was looking for. The medium pressure I requested was spot on. At some points, it became a little harder to get rid of the knots, but it was that "hurt so good" sort of pain. Kendall's massage was soft, but firm and controlled. I have had many other massages in the past, and sometimes I have felt that the masseuse cuts the time short on one side after spending too much time on the other; Kendall did not do that. She spent the entire 30 minutes giving an equalized massage to both sides of my shoulders. Furthermore, even though that area was the focus, she managed to massage my back pretty well and integrated pushes and pulls on my arms and feet. I couldn't believe she did all of this in 30 minutes, and it felt amazing. She is a fantastic masseuse! Afterward, she handed me a glass of water to rehydrate and acknowledged how those knots certainly existed. While she did a great job by loosening them slightly this go around, I cannot wait to go back to her to work them out even more. I know she can get rid of that tightness! If I had any suggestions for this location, I would kindly request the following: 1.) Offering tea in addition to water 2.) Let the person who just got the massage to sit down in the foyer to relax for a few minutes and regroup; leaving felt a tad rushed in the small space 3.) Fix the payment system, because it did not accept my card and needed a manual key-in; I would prefer to be left alone to swipe my card and finish the transaction on the tablet as part of the "drink water and relax" piece after the massage ends 4.) The website states that certain add-ons are complimentary. I would have liked to been asked if I wanted any; I got a hot towel at the end though which was all I wanted anyway! One last pro - You can book your appointment online! Bottom line: Kendall is the warmest masseuse I have ever met. Awaken offers a calming massage experience that will suit anyone's needs! read more

I worked at a massage therapy spa and their whole staff was GOOD at what they did so my standards were a little higher than they would've been. I had my first professional massage since October of 2013. I was long overdue, and Mackenzie did an amazing job working out the knots in my body. I really appreciated her use of aromas, the choice of peaceful minimalist music, her energy, and of course her skills as a masseuse. I felt my whole left side change after she worked on it. I also really enjoyed the massage space located on the bottom of a neat yoga studio, and staff there were also very welcoming and helpful. I loved it so much that I am going to try to budget this in so I can make this a monthly thing to love on my body. Upon an enthusiastic recommendation from a dear friend, I got in touch with Ryan. As a dancer, I constantly need body work, but this is unlike anything I have experienced before. Ryan's skill with energy healing is beyond my understanding but made such a difference for me. I slept for almost 12 hours the night after my session which seemed like my body's way of really soaking in everything we did. He found all the places I hold stress, sadness, old injuries, etc. and truly helped me release what I no longer need to hold on to. I've followed by favorite masseuse Mackenzie here from Sacred Waters... I would follow her anywhere!!! No one else gets out all my knots like she does. So this is a massage location within the Humble Haven Yoga Studio. You enter through the main lobby and go down a set of spiral stairs to the lower level. You're then greeted with smells and sounds of relaxation. The room is called the Zen Den (catchy eh??) One whole wall is covered with moss and there are two massive and EXTREMELY soft beanbag chairs to sit on while waiting. The yoga room is cozy and completely quiet which is awesome. Mackenzie is starting to make her own combos of essential oils and they smell fantastic. The room smelled of frankensence and the temperature was perfect. I had a recent back muscle injury and she used a variety of things on me during the massage from hot stones, to a special muscle rub, and hot towels. It's literally my new favorite place. I have been going to Tim here in Richmond for a couple of months now. From our very first session, it was a great experience every time. He asked if I'd had a massage before, did I know what to expect, how much pressure I prefer and what areas needed work. Self Care in the time of COVID: I have been a client of Ryan Greene's for some time. He has played a crucial role in stroke recovery and continues to provide unique and powerful massage reiki sessions. As a former massage therapist, I am extremely selective on who I go to for bodywork, and Ryan at Awaken is a bodywork genius. During the first few weeks of the COVID Pandemic "Stay In Place" quarantine, I was as stressed and frustrated as everyone. I would practice meditation and yoga "in place" until a bout of wicked plantar fasciitis made walking akin to stepping on Lego blocks. I was miserable. Ryan was offering virtual massage and mediation services, and I decided to book a session. I will admit, I was a little self-conscious at first, but the grounding work and the guided self-massage was perfect. I had a second session where we focused on the foot and leg pain, and, I am not kidding, his healing presence and energy came through, as it had done in a traditional setting. I was amazed. He prescribed some self-massage legwork and it has been helping. The pain has gone from 10 to 2 in a short time. I didn't realize that during these past few weeks, I needed to breathe. I needed the grounding and meditation session. The pain manifesting in my leg was distracting and adding to the stress of the new daily routine.
