I have really sensitive skin and always break out after getting my brows done, whether I do wax or threading. I decided I had nothing to lose by booking a brow appointment at Sugar and Hive. I thought I was booking an appointment to have sugaring done, but when I got there they clarified that it was wax, which was no problem. The area was bright, nicely decorated and squeaky clean. There's a large open treatment area where the facials and other skin services are done and then a couple of treatment rooms for body waxing. My waxer happened to be able to do my brows in one of the treatment rooms which I was glad about. I walked in and was floored by the over the top (see what I did there?) decor. The wallpaper on the ceiling is such a nice touch since you're laying down on the table. I love when businesses really hone in on the little details in order to make the space shine. After talking through my options, we decided to go with hard wax, instead of soft, for my sensitive skin. The treatment was painless and afterward she covered the area with hydrocortisone cream. My eyebrows looked very natural and nicely shaped. I was very happy with the service and the best part is that I didn't break out! The hydrocortisone cream must have been the golden ticket. I made my next appointment before I left and am looking forward to it.

I received a custom facial from Lani and it was a great experience. She was super friendly and explained exactly what products she'd use based on my skin from her observation and my concerns. The facial was awesome and I'd love to put it in my routine consistently but it'd be a bit of a splurge for me. Now the space itself was beautiful but could use some improvements for customer experience. First the room I received my facial didn't have a curtain it was open which made it hard to relax and wind down because I could hear people moving throughout the spa and talking. A lot of talking. Not obnoxiously just more than I'd care to hear since I came to relax. Lastly. The music choices could also be a bit more relaxing like calming/soothing instrumentals rather than music with lyrics. Overall I'd visit again but some changes could make this a much better experience.

The tables are warm and the linens soft and clean. They have a variety of massages. The hot stones are wonderful to loosen tight muscles. I have booked with several different massage therapists over the years and have not been disappointed. The whole experience is rejuvenating. This is a great place to book your next massage.

James listened well as I detailed all my "issues". Then during my massage he was careful to work the muscles but not cause any harm. I left walking out to the reception desk with my limp 90% gone! I was ecstatic. Even the receptionist noticed. I signed up for their reasonable membership right there and then....I NEVER do that. That is how good I felt. I made my next appointment before I left. If you have chronic pain you must give them a try.

O.M.G! If I could give 10 stars to this place I would!!! Funny enough, I heard about this place on the airplane while flying into Richmond for a wedding. A whole group of ladies sitting in front of me were going on and on about how amazing Glow Med Spa was...so...first thing I did when I landed was find out when I could get in to see what all the hype was about! I wanted to try as many services as possible so the only way it would work out is if I spaced them out over the two locations... So let me just first explain my visit to the Glow in Shortpump. I've never seen anything like this before...when I walked in I was entering a different world. They ask you to take a seat in front of this Fireplace that's surrounded by these huge trees...almost feels surreal. Wile sitting there the receptionist told me about the decor being based off the earths elements and I was at the "fire" location...but my other services were at the "earth" location...very cool. Why can't more places be this creative? Once my girl came and got me I was ushered down this fire lit corridor (so cool!) into this beautiful spa room. I actually took a picture with my phone to show my friends because I was pretty sure I was not going to be able to explain this!) And there she left me alone to get ready for the facial. Now, this is what really impressed me. I've had MANY facials in many different cities...but none quite like this! I have rosacea, and alot of girls tell me the same thing that my doctor tells me...like what to avoid and so on...but this girl actually educated me on The Rosacea Foundations newest findings as well as she took the time to explain exactly what my skin was reacting to and the Why's and the HOw's of everything...My Dermatologist has NEVER spent that much time with me!! This girl knew all the new medications on the market that I had never been told about, but I just looked them up and she was correct!!! Like I said, I was impressed. The whole experience was so wonderful...the facial was so relaxing and when it was time to get up she asked me to feel my skin...and WOW...WOW! So smooth! I actually didn't want to put makeup on...THAT's how much I loved how I looked! There were a lot of small, little touches that made the whole experience too....like, when she sat the bed up she had this tray with a cup of flavored water for me and there was this hot towel for my hands...but what I thought was really nice was that they gave me a spa CD so I could "take the relaxation home with me" Nice touch ladies!!! I was so very impressed with my service that I got a gift card for my friend whose wedding I was there to attend... And my only complaint was that there is no Glow in Florida where I live! :( But trust me on this...If I come back to Virginia...one of my first stops will be Glow Med Spa. read more

Where to begin? ~ Perhaps at the beginning. From the moment you step through the doors you feel special. I love the decor at the SP location and would not change a thing. You can feel your body relax and the tension & stresses of the day begin to peel away while waiting in the reception area for your treatment. Everything about this Spa is first class & it truly is a Spa in the true sense of the word. I've had several facial treatments as well as laser hair removal. Shia is wonderful with her knowledge of skin treatments, explaining everything she does & why and oh so gentle ~ always making sure you are comfortable throughout the process. The unexpected bonus with the facial is having your neck, shoulders, back massaged during the treatment. I am now hooked on the derma-brasion and facial treatments and trust Shia with her advice for my skin type. Every woman owes herself this luxury ~ trust me you will not be disappointed. The laser treatment I've had was ultimately painless. I have had laser before - years ago - before Glow Med Spa & it hurt - left my skin red for days. Not so at GMS. I was pleasantly surprised at how painless & yet effective the procedure is ~ again Shia just has a real knack for making you feel comfortable throughout all of your procedures. I do not want to go into detail here about the decorations, rooms, overall details because I believe a true spa experience needs that bit of "surprise". Let me say, you feel very special the moment you enter and you are transported to another time and place. It is magical. Whatever procedures you have had or plan to have in the future you owe it to yourself to give Glow Med Spa a try. Once you have experienced the warmth @ GMS, the friendliness and knowledgeable well-trained staff, you will soon become a repeat customer. I give Glow Med the highest rating because they deserve it ~ they strive for quality, care, and treatment and they achieve this. I don't usually write reviews, but after moving from Richmond to Michigan and trying to find my new go-to spots, I realized just how lucky I was to have found Glow Med Spa. They seriously set the bar high. I was a regular at Glow for about four years before I moved. My first visit was for a laser consultation--my fifth one, actually--but Glow was the only place that really took the time to explain everything and make me feel comfortable. As an Indian woman, I have to be extra careful with my skin since I scar easily, and I'd had some bad experiences at other places in Richmond. Shia was amazing--she took her time, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt confident in the process. I could tell right away she knew what she was doing. Since then, Shia and Anna have been my go-to providers, but I've also worked with a few of the other girls and they've all been fantastic. Everyone is professional, kind, and super knowledgeable. I ended up doing full-body laser hair removal, and when the time was right, we started anti-aging treatments on my face. The difference in my skin is unbelievable--so much of the scarring I had from other places has faded, and I feel so much more confident now. Now that I've moved, I really miss the care and quality I got at Glow. Nothing compares. I still have family in Richmond, so I plan to book appointments whenever I'm in town. I just wish I could bring these ladies with me--but until then, I'll happily make the trip back! read more

I would like to start off by saying WOW! This place is top notch!! I was sent to Glow by a friend, and am SOO glad i was. To start, when I called to schedule an appointment for a wax, Gabrielle was very helpful to answer all of my questions and do her best to get me in when she could. I could not schedule an appointment for several weeks, but was put onto a waiting list! and THANK GOODNESS because I was called the next day to come in much soon! To my surprise, the same nice young lady was there to help me check in and offered my a free glass of wine. That was a nice surprise considering how nervous I was. I then went back to see Olga, who is the sweetest person I have ever met! She took her time with me, and really put me at ease by getting to know me and making light conversation. Before I knew is she told me I was done! Don't get me wrong, a wax is a wax.. but it did not hurt one bit! I made sure to schedule my next appointment with Olga! I've been here twice before and although I wasn't very impressed either times because of the fact that my esthetician was late both times (and not only by a minute or two either), I decided to give them another try. Not sure what I was thinking though, because it was the same exact experience as the first two. NEVER, and I mean NEVER make an appointment with the owner, Shia. She is ALWAYS at least 10-15 minutes late coming to get you from the waiting area and then, another 10 minutes late coming into the room to do your actual service. Yes, she apologizes, but that doesn't make it right either way. People make set appointments for a reason. Also, the last time I went about 2-3 weeks ago, I believe they were training a new front desk girl because she had NO IDEA what she was doing and even shouted out SHIT twice before picking up the phone when a client would call... I was given a gift card for Valentine's Day to Glow Med Spa. I had never heard of it, but I was willing to try their services since technically, I wouldn't be paying for it. I went on their website to see what they offered and decided to try the Rose and Lavender massage. I didn't have any high expectations when I got there because I've had several massages before, including one by the beach in Barbados! Well, when I walked in, the ambiance was absolutely amazing! When I got to the room, everything seemed "normal." It wasn't until my therapist, Cory Moran, started his God-given gift that I knew I had stepped into an oasis! He is by far the BEST massage therapist I've ever had!!!! I will be returning for more services and Cory will be my massage therapist from this moment on!! Glow Med Spa is absolutely amazing. There is nothing like this place back home where I live. I was up from NC visiting my daughter. She bought me a gift card for my birthday to Glow Med Spa. I got the Deep Pore facial from Lisa. Lisa was very informative about what was going on with my skin, and recommended products I should add to my skin care regimen.Then I got a wonderful massage from Markella. She worked on my trouble spots, while still giving me a relaxing Swedish massage. Finally I got my eyelashes and brows tinted by Justine. I have had her before for the same service, and she nails it every single time. I love this place. The only thing that I don't like about Glow Med Spa is there is not one in NC. I had a fantastic experience at the Glow Med Spa in Short Pump. I'm not one to get a facial on the regular, but as it was part of my Valentine's day gift, who am I to argue with an afteroon of massage and facial. For the facial, I had Olga who did an absolutely amazing job! Extremely professional and knowledgeable, provided alot of great tips, and the experience was unmatched by the other salons in Richmond. I even thought it was better than many of the super expensive salons one can visit at the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. I will definitely be back to see her again. I got the men's 90 min cedar wood massage, which I thought was better than average. I might opt for a regular deep tissue massage next time. Love love LOVE GLOW!! The staff is the greatest, and their services cannot be beat! I was very nervous going in for a wax, but left feeling great! Between the amazing service and staff, I cannot wait to go back for all my skincare and massage needs. I was very happy to know that Glow does not double dip when waxing like most others, and the wax they use is virtually pain free. The atmosphere is also unlike any other. Nakisha is amazing, patient, caring and understanding!! I would go back a million times if I could! The experience was solid from the minute I made the appointment to when I walked out in that wonderful, euphoric post-massage state. For starters, I was offered a glass of wine upon my arrival (heaven). The masseuse was professional, gentle, thorough and made me feel extremely comfortable! June 2014 my husband gave me a gift certificate to Glo Med Spa, time flies, and so after having a very exhausting July 2015, I decided to treated myself to a 60 min. Swedish massage + hot stones. I had the worst person there. I think her name was Heather but not sure but she had blonde hair. I was so disappointed I can't remember her name. I had a leg wax and she just didn't care she missed a lot of spots I had to tell her she missed. then she still didn't take care of all the places I pointed out to her. Wasn't sure what to expect from a day spa as I've had my fair share and the prices seemed almost too good to be true but...fantastic experience! Usually I am not one to write reviews but would like to recommend Tammy at Glo Med for a fantastic massage. My first visits I scheduled for 60 minutes but was not ready for it to end so make my appts for 90 minutes now and love every second of it. Well I went there for the first time to get a Brazil wax and I was very nervous!! I got it done by Chelsea and she was great!! she answered all of my questions!! and when I got there the front desks girl was sweet and offered me a free glass of wine to knock the edge off it was so sweet!!! Brooke did my waxing and she is a very friendly and sweet person. The main complaint that I have is that I had a lot of wax reside left. Usually when I have this procedure something is used to remove left over wax. It was very sticky. That is why this is a 3 star review.
