Laura, you are outstanding!!! I went to Laura for my first Brazilian. I have had bikini waxes before, but the idea of a Brazilian was daunting. I have to say that Laura is amazing at her craft. I was afraid to enter a salon that made me feel out of place as a full figured girl, but the room is cozy, small, and Laura is super professional and sweet - I never felt uncomfortable around her. I took some pain meds before because I was nervous about the pain, but she uses a hard wax that doesn't hurt nearly as much as strip wax. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. Really only the first pull hurts. She was so good that I even added an underarm wax. If you are looking for a new go-to girl for all your waxing needs, Laura is it! Laura is THE BEST! I realized, after my second wax with her, that I get very slow regrowth after one of her waxes because she's very meticulous about removing hair at the root. I've only encountered one other waxer, ever, who was able to do that. It's a rare talent, really. Because of this, I only have to visit her every 6 weeks, though I could probably push it to 8 weeks. True story: my cheap ass found her through Groupon. However, I used up my three waxes and decided to purchase another series of three waxes at full price. Guess what? Still ridiculously reasonably priced compared to the competition for incomparable quality of service. I will continue to see Laura until the day I die. read more

I've had a really good experience here. Laura was very personable and my session was very private and comfortable. She uses a hard wax which is great because the sticky waxes are really messy and they leave a residue. I also appreciated that she was thorough, going back with a tweezer for any strays. I have been going to Laura for over a year now and I really refuse to go to anyone else... like, ever. Firstly, Laura is a professional who knows her stuff and I have always felt very taken care of with her. She does her best to make it quick and as easy as she can. I can also say something I have always appreciated about her is that she makes you feel comfortable. I, myself, am a big girl and can feel very self-conscious, especially considering I go to her mainly for Brazilian waxing. Because of this, I'm very self-aware but I have never felt awkward, uncomfortable or fearful. Let's be honest, it can be intimidating, but as I said, she is a professional and always makes me feel at ease. She is always very careful and gentle, considering what she is doing, and makes sure I'm happy and comfortable when I leave. Like a lot of guys, I never had a facial and didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great experience. Laura's work area was very clean but also relaxing, with little details like a comfortable work table to lie on, pleasant aroma therapy, and relaxing music. As a first timer and someone who is tense in general, Laura took great care to put me at ease and create a calm environment. I especially appreciate that she explained everything before doing it. Soon I was totally relaxed and enjoying being pampered. I could have almost taken a nap but I would have missed out on some of the experience. You won't be disappointed. Laura is super sweet, great at her profession, and really understanding. I am so happy I found her, and will be a long term client. I found Laura on Yelp after I moved from SJ to Alameda, and was bummed that I was leaving the waxologist I was very loyal to. I searched and searched for a hard wax option in Alameda (there aren't many). I reached out to Laura, but she wasn't able to take me on since she had a personal issue at the time. I had 2 BAD experiences at European Wax Center, and vowed not to go back. I reached out to Laura again a few weeks later, and (thankfully) she was back in action. She has a very accommodating schedule and I was soooo glad she was able to see me the following Saturday. By the way, I live across the street (um, really? Yes. This is awesome). However, (worst first-time client behavior ever), I didn't realize I had another event I HAD to attend. So I walked in and told her, and she was so sweet, polite, and forgiving. We immediately booked my next appointment, and I was very happy with the results. She is so kind, makes you feel very at easy. She has a soft voice, comfortable room, and great conversation. Her prices are affordable and worth the value. A little FYI... Her room is in a super cute home on the corner of the block. Go into the door to the right of the nail salon, up the stairs, and through the open door on the right. There is a sofa to wait (although she usually waits ON the sofa for me to arrive). She has you fill out a short form for insurance. She then brings you in, and you know how the rest goes. I even took advantage of the Yelp check-in offer for a discount!! I haven't done any skin care services, only waxing, but I hope to soon. Today I booked my third appointment (fourth if you count my terrible first-time cancellation). Went to Laura for the first time today and my experience was AMAZING! She is located in a neat little building. There are plenty of signs once you get in the building and her address is visible from the street. I drove in from Oakland, and was so excited to find a place close to me. This was my 3rd time getting a Brazilian Wax, but my first with her. In the past my waxes have take FOREVER and were painful! But Laura was quick and painless!
