If you haven't been to Phenix before, it's a bunch of independent beauty consultants (hair, brows, massage, facial, etc) who each rent a room from the Phenix site owner. Each room is private salon/spa setup run by that independent business owner. I found Jannat a number of years ago after seeing rave reviews for her on the Bothell Community Facebook page. I had recently discovered eyebrow threading at the mall and decided that threading was IT for me. I was never plucking or waxing again! Since discovering her, I haven't gone elsewhere for either brows OR a facial. First of all, she has the best prices in town. She could raise her prices by 10-20% and STILL have the best prices in town! Secondly, Jannat is hardworking, does excellent work every time, and is generally a fun, easy to talk to person. She's also very good at reading the room. If you want to talk, she'll talk, but if you want quiet pampering, she'll give you that, too. I tend to want to talk during my brows, but then get quiet during my facial to enjoy it. :-) Jannat has also gone above and beyond to make me comfortable. I'm a plus size woman and her regular spa wraps didn't quite cover me without gaping at the sides. It wasn't a huge deal since I was covered by a sheet as well as the wrap during my facial, but Jannat went out and bought a larger size wrap to make me more comfortable even though I'm her only client who didn't quite fit into the regular one. I will always appreciate that she went above and beyond just for me. Jannat also uses exceptional skin care products. I've never once had a bad reaction, burning sensation, etc with anything that she's used on my face. I honestly used to think a burning sensation was the norm for my facials! I'm not huge on the correct terminology, but my favorite part of my facial every month is my face vacuuming (that's what I tell my kids she does to me) to remove dead skin, followed by the most amazing face massage! I have to suppress my instinct to moan aloud every time she hits that magical spot near by temples for fear of sounding inappropriate! With my brows, she's quick and efficient, but my brows somehow look better than when anyone else has spent twice the time on them. If you see Jannat for brows or waxing, I highly recommend you try her for facials as well. If you're looking for the perfect brows every time, give her a call - she's your gal. I can't speak to her waxing abilities because frankly, I'm too afraid of pain to give waxing a try, but based on her other reviews, it looks like she's great at that, too. Just remember, Jannat is only one person and she keeps pretty busy. If you call her, please give her time to get back to you. Once you've seen her, a quick text is the best way to get in touch with her since it's less disruptive to her sessions than a phone call and she can get back to you quickly and quietly in between clients. If you would like to waste 2 hours on a haircut that should have been completed in 45 minutes, all while listening to far too personal baby daddy stories shared by your nice, but unskilled, stylist, then this is the salon for you! What was that? Should I have said something? Well, I did. That's when the less than 100% fabulous customer service kicked in. I sent photos and messages documenting the haircut. I asked for a refund. After all, that was $90 for the haircut that looks like the craft scissor haircut my friend's daughter gave herself when she was 5. They want to "fix" it. There's barely any hair left to "fix" and also, no. You have lost my trust. Just refund the money. Here's my story: I chose one of my reference images (the one with green highlights) directly from their website based on cut and type of color, highlights with a fashion color. What could possibly go wrong? There is a person there who literally can cut the cut I want the picture proved it, right? The scheduler said she knew exactly who to book me with, but let's do a color consultation first for $60. I countered with, let's schedule the cut and the stylist, and I can discuss color then. At my appointment, I showed the stylist a carefully curated set of images, cut images, and the cut I wanted in pics of me when I had that cut. This is important because, I should back up and say I was asking for a pixie cut. I explained that I wanted my already short hair to be styled into a long banged, messy pixie with wispy tendrils by my ears. This would require trimming bangs, texturizing the longer "bob" sides and back. An hour in, I knew far too much about her personal life, and half my hair was clippered and way too short. Then she said, " Hey, maybe we should leave the other side as it is (when I came in)". Um, what? I asked to see the back. It had been clippered and the long hair on top laid on it like a rug. Zero texture. Um... the back of my head looks like a triangle? Can you please fix it? She did, kinda. Now, it's at mile marker two hours, and I am late. She was still not done. I told her I had to go and that I would have to settle for what I have. I left, put my hat on, and cried. But that was after I was also charged a service fee to tip. Next comes the customer service: After work, I took my hat off to discover that you could see my scalp in places. I have virtually no bangs, and it is waaaaay worse than I thought. I immediately emailed with pics. Their response, thanks for the feedback. I called and asked someone from their leadership to call me back. Nope, no call. Fast forward to the next day and several emails later, and the owner said you can either come in (next week) or "this matter is closed". Charming. I've had pixie cuts for 20 years. This was not a texture things or even a miscommunication. It was a failure of the scheduler, the stylist, and ultimately the owner. That stylist needs to be trained better and should have never been given me as a client. And the owner, well, just rude. When did customer service become so rare?
