I came here over the weekend with some friends, I thought it was going to be just a bunch of zip lining. I quickly found out it was not zip lining but also climbing and daring high wire acrobats. I'll be transparent and say I was filled with fear on the first course while looking down and maneuvering the course. At the end of that course, I took several deep breaths and I lept off the platform trusting in the harness system. and, I'm alive to tell about it. By the time we made it to the 5th and final course we felt like old professionals. This course built our confidence in 2 short hours. The employees were super nice and it was a seamless, fun experience! We did the Treetop Journey which lasted 1 hour. During that time, we did the easy, moderate, and difficult routes. After each route, you go down the same zipline, so it kinda just felt like we were going in circles. I would suggest booking the Treetop Adventure over the Treetop Journey because it actually takes you through the forest. While pricer, I think it's worth the cost. It's 2-3 hours and involves more variation in obstacles, longer ziplines, and a Tarzan swing. Having done the Treetop Journey in the past, the Treetop Adventure got a tad bit boring at times, comparatively speaking. read more

For a high-ropes course & zip lining, this place was fantastic. Like a lot of other reviews have said, I thought this place was just ziplining. It seemed maybe a little anti-climatic to go ziplining through Swope Park if you've gone other places with taller hills or cooler terrain, but when you arrive, you realize Go Ape has a lot more going on than just their zip line. This place is definitely not for the faint of heart or someone with a fear of heights. A lot of their courses have an "easy" route, but let me be the first to say, nothing here is easy and it's all VERY physical. As long as you come here with that in mind, you're going to have a blast. I used muscles I haven't used in years (and I felt it the next day, lol!) If you're nervous, the staff here is knowledgeable and gracious. They're pretty darn good at teaching you what to do without talking down to you and it's pretty difficult to get serious hurt as long as you pay attention. We had a fantastic time here. The workers at Go Ape did great at providing instructions on how to stay latched onto the course and how to land during zip lining as this is not the usual zip line you might be used to. I had a small incident where I jumped a bit too far back during one of the Zipline courses and fell off the platform but luckily I was latched on and one of the workers told me to place my feet back on the area. This course is for those who are more in shape and athletic as you are using your upper body strength for at least 2.5 hours the entire time. There are a total of 5 courses. Everything is taken at your own pace with options of difficult or extreme and it is a self guided course tour with the workers walking around at the bottom to make sure things are going okay. Overall I did feel safe just felt exhausted after finishing. They do have a kids course too which we saw a bit at the end which is good to know for those who may want to bring their kids. Indoor restrooms are available onsite, there are water stations at each course, gloves are required and can be bought at GoApe. read more

I have been a quite a few just ziplining parks. This one offers a couple of good additions to be "just ziplining". With the trolley system, your group is allowed to be independent and travel at your own pace. You don't have to wait for your staff member to be your source of entertainment. This also allows your group to switch order and chat with each other and share the adventure. Most "events" have two paths which you can take - extreme or moderate. This allows your group to stay together and enjoy the park even if you have people of different levels or courage levels. You can also repeat events and prolonged your adventure. My group of 6 took 3 hrs to complete our adventure bc we did repeat some events. My favorite events - zipline (of course) and the Tarzan swing. read more

Tons of fun was had. We did the smaller 1 hour Tree top adventure but this was great for our family. The staff was super friendly. The only reason we didnt give 5 stars would be when calling ahead I was never informed that we had to purchase gloves separately. And she gave us a couple some other misleading info. Such an incredible experience for first timers. We had a 6 year old, 20, 22 and 43 year old and it was a blast for all on the Tree Top Journey. Our six year old was very hesitant until she started. But she managed to do the beginner and moderate levels. The rest did all three. The tutorial at the beginning was very helpful and everyone was friendly and patient. This is NOT the place for those afraid of heights. If you think you may chicken out midway then I would recommend contacting Go Ape to see when their slowest time is. A woman opted out of the zip line at the end and it resulted in all of us behind being rerouted. No one was upset but I think the woman was embarrassed. So in the same breath if you are not patient this is not for you, go to the advanced course. Everything felt safe, they have an instructor do the courses prior to make sure all is in good order. Absolutely cant wait to go back and do the Tree Top Adventure. read more

Had a fun time on the course while joined by a friend from out of town who suggested we go out for a weekend adventure! Pro tips: - wear snugly fitted gloves (ours were too big and the loose fingertip parts of the gloves kept catching on the trees/lines etc. -wear capris/pants (not shorts - you're wearing a harness that goes on your inner thigh & you'll be crawling through some areas where it's nice to have your knees/legs covered) -wear shoes / pants you're okay with getting dirty (landing off the zipline, you're almost guaranteed to get dirt or some mud on you) -no hats/sunglasses (it's really shady) -bring / wear bugspray (forested area with lots of bugs!) -there are water stations throughout the course so no need to bring a water bottle with you We went just us two before a big group which was nice that we didn't get slowed down. The whole adventure took only 1 hr and 45 min. Almost went by too fast! read more

Didn't really get a good explanation as to why but they were closed and no one was going to be helping us. FUN FUN FUN! My first time here with some adventurous friends. Always wanted to go here and check it out.... and we did during the pandemic. It's a good outdoor activities, to get out and explore instead of being at home. We had about four in our group and was quickly assigned to another group to make it an even 10. We all have our masks that's required on. We had our helpful guide with us. Be sure to use the restroom before you go out and explore. Don't want that accident like the movie GIRLS TRIP with TIFFANY HADDISH. The guide helped us with instructions what we should do, how we should be careful and most of all have fun. There's plenty of signs as well too. You can bring your own gloves (make sure it's sturdy, not the cheap ones!) or you can buy the gloves from Go Ape ($9). They also have other items to purchase like a phone case to carry on your neck since you can't hold items in your hand. I got my small fanny pack with me. Everything was fun and oh boy, I was exhausted by the last course. I need to practice more because I keep landing on my back. Oh yeah, be sure to wear clothes you don't care for, cause you will get dirty and hot. All the courses had their own challenges and some with ziplines too which is the fun part. Go Ape was definitely full of fun! It was my first time zip lining & completing an outdoor obstacle course. Booked online & then found a coupon code. (Use 'Insta' for 10% off) Called & they applied the discount even though it was after my initial booking, which was nice. Then, I called again the morning of & changed my appointment time. No hassle customer service, two thumbs up. Now for the thrill! I was nervous at the start of the day. They give a thorough run down of the how to hook yourself up with the harness. I'm not gonna lie. At the beginning of the day I thought it was a lot to remember & feared I'd fall off the zip line if I didn't remember one of the many steps. But, they have a mini zip line at the start of the course. This allowed me to practice hooking myself up & I felt comfortable before starting the real thing. There are 5 obstacle courses, all which end with a zip line. The obstacles get more intense as you proceed. But, the reward is so sweet ..longer & higher zip lines. It was a fantastic view & waaay too much fun. The prices are reasonable for a full morning/afternoon of excitement. I only have 1 real complaint. There are no more than about 10 people who start the course at the same time. I imagine they start a new group of people every 30 minutes. Well, there were many times where we would catch up to the next group..causing us to have to wait for them to finish that course before we could even start. It took us 4 hours to complete the course, but it could have been closer to 1.5 hrs without all of the waiting. My advice, start each group at least 1 hour apart. Should you Go Ape? We had a wonderful time today at Go Ape. Everyone that we worked with was great. I remember two of our guides' names, Jennie and Eileen, but all the workers were helpful. They really maintain a high level of safety from the beginning to the end, and there were guides all along the path that were assisting us and giving helpful advice. This place is fantastic and so much fun! Be forewarned: this isn't JUST zip lining -- it's obstacle zip lining! Meaning, you will be completing obstacles, total of five courses, each with their unique obstacles, and each course has its own zip line at the end -- when you've finished the obstacles. Consider it your reward! The zip line takes you to the next course. The obstacles range from novice to expert, some of the times you can choose if you want to take an easier or tougher route and the signs will point that out for you. For all the obstacles, you are suspended in the air and it will be workout -- prepared to be sore or possibly lightly bruised, depending on how you handle the ropes and obstacles. When you book your time to come visit this place, it will take between 2.5-3.5 hours, so plan accordingly. The instructors do an excellent job of training and walking you step-by-step through the safety process and how to properly complete the obstacles and zip line. The training class takes about 20-30 minutes and then it starts to get repetitive after you have to keep doing it. So if you're a slow learner, that's okay! You'll have to keep doing it on each obstacle that it will become muscle memory. The training staff is fun, personable and knowledgable. Also, they are patent with repeat questions and peoples phobias of heights, but are reassuring and follow you through it all -- keep in mind, they won't be next to you, rather below you watching you up top, but will answer an questions you have during the courses. This place is located in the beautiful Swope Park (where the KC Zoo is) and has stunning views of tree lines and a nice green scenery. which is a bonus when you're zip lining through the serene trees. This was our first time going and we had a blast! The instructors are very enthusiastic and welcoming! She was in depth with the safety precautions and process of the course, she asked us questions at the end to make sure we were listening! The course had different routes you could take for hard or easier obstacles, which I thought was awesome for those who want to either challenge themselves or just cruise through on the easier route. The zip lines were longer and higher than I thought! We were visiting from California and made sure we made it here and I'm so glad we did! I highly recommend anyone to go! So much fun! Friendly and helpful staff are there to encourage you and ensure you don't fall. It's a work-out so be prepared. It was hot when we went- and after exerting so much energy, riding the zip lines was a welcome treat. Don't wear pants if you go in the summer. Buy the gloves, they're only $6 (or bring your own- grippy and fingerless) Restrain your hair. If it's long, you'll want more than a pony tail to ensure it doesn't get caught in anything. This is spectacular fun- challenging physically and exciting. The staff is polite and professional. And it's actually a pretty good deal for an afternoon of nature, adrenaline and exercise. I took my 12 year old son and a buddy. They're strict about one adult for every two kids, and very strict (detailed) on safety. Training takes a good fifteen minutes, then you proceed to the first station. This can get kind of slow, as people struggle sometimes with the safety attachments the first (after training) time through. Here's a hint- if behind a slow group, skip ahead to the next ladder/rope crossing/zip line combo. They're all different, but not progressively harder. Skip, and come back. By the second combo, you'll have the hang of it- you'll notice that once you get off the ground, you are attached to safety cables in at least one, and sometimes three places. You can't unattach until you're down. Down a long fast zip line... But safe for sure. I loved it. My son loved it. Great time, and actually affordable for three hours of fun. read more

This is definitely not for the average weekend warrior especially if u have a "bad knee" or some minor ailment or just fear meeting your insurance deductible this year. Most parents would not feel comfortable sending their children if they knew the details. If you get stuck in a big group (mine was 10 people) you are on your own 75% of the time without a guide in charge of all your safety precautions. You have no one but the person right in front of you to give you strategy pearls along the way. The platforms are also very narrow. I felt safer zip lining in costa rica and cancun. There is no panic button or chicken exit once you are up in the obstacle course and a few were pretty difficult. The zip lines are pretty weak and ergonomically not the best. You have little control on forward or backward motion and even less how you land bc you are stopped by your legs, butt, or back. The zip line measurements are therefore not all that accurate bc most adults end pretty far away from the final measurement because they just aren't high enough in the landing. There is no direct line to call go ape in kc, only a 1-800 number. They have no direct contact with swope park which also isn't always open for calls. Be sure to exit the same way you entered (disregard the do not enter sign as you exit). The other gait was closed and it was not an easy 3 point turn around. Go ape is one little trailer with a few port-a-potties. No lockers. The only cold water was in the trailer. Each of the obstacle courses had lukewarm to hot water. I recommend bringing gloves. I definitely dont ever want to go back. I would recommend it to college kids that dont know how much better other zip line courses are. Overall, they need more guides and a few coolers for water. Not sure if this place will stay open. read more
