When I called back to the office about a hour in a half of picking up the vehicle to let Kelly, Manager know the smell was giving me a headache and see if he switch me to another vehicle, he said, he would call me back that afternoon to switch vehicles; That never happened. I cut the rental short, from one week to one day. Kelly had the audacity to up charge me for the one day rental. Hands down the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced with a rental car company. I should have checked the reviews first.

At the counter, I showed proof of purchase and my check-in information. The gentleman told me that my check-in was not good and that he didn't have a vehicle available. He did not attempt to rectify the issue or help me out. He just gave me a pamphlet and told me to call Customer Service for them to cancel my rental. Very poor customer service if you ask me.

My experience was almost unbelievable. I made a reservation at The Colony Budget office through Expedia in the morning to pickup that afternoon. Shortly after I made the reservation, the office called me to let me know that even though I had a reservation, they had no cars and would not have a car for me that afternoon. I was not happy, but told them to cancel and went back to Expedia and made a reservation at the McKinney Budget office. Having been told by the other Budget office that they had no cars, I proactively called McKinney to make sure they would have a car for me. They said no problem will have a car for you. Problem solved, right? Wrong! Fast forward several hours to about 30 minutes before I was scheduled to pick up the car, the McKinney Budget office called to let me know they did not have any cars. I told them that I had called that morning to make sure they would have cars and was advised that they would. The agent who called said that if the phone rings more than twice then the line transfers to the central reservations and they have no idea if there are cars or not. I said the person answered on the first ring. I have been renting cars for 30 years and know if I'm talking to central reservations or someone at the local office and let her know that. She got a little snippy and let me know that regardless of who I talked to, they had no cars. She also said this happens all the time, every day and that she routinely has 10-15 angry customers for which there are reservations and no cars. She also said that since I made the reservation "last minute," that she had no obligation to get me a car. Evidently for Budget, reservations are actually just suggestions for the rental office to get you a car. Ridiculous! I will never use the McKinney Budget office, and unless there is no other option, I will choose any company other than Budget. I suggest you do the same.
