Oh hail no! I mean everyone accidentally says a word they shouldn't around kids, every now and then. My record was superlative though. I didn't say a bad word around my son for 5 years. "Stupid" was replaced with "silly" and "dang" pretty much replaced all the harder words in my lexicon. I mean it's the right thing to do around kids, especially ones you love, right? My son's due date was coming up and my two seater wasn't as safe for him as I would have liked. Although a perfectly legal baby transporter - a great truck overall - it was time to get something more practical, more suitable to my new dad lifestyle. I loved that truck, but not as much as I loved my new car. It was safe for my baby, highest scores on the crash tests. It was a value play, much less than most new cars (which is important with a baby on the way). It had great performance, it was light, had a turbo and four wheel drive and oh hey, I thought it looked ok too! People would say nice things to me about the car at the gas station which I always humbly appreciated. So one day my son and I got caught in a May rain storm on the tollway. We exited our exit, and with limited visibility we drove appropriately. At a light, in two clicks I pulled up the radar on my favorite app on my phone and saw hail coming. I put my phone down and waited for the light to change. I calculated I could make it home. As soon as the light changed, so did the weather. Hail started falling. As I watched it hit my beloved car, the car I loved so much, the car that I drove my baby home from the hospital, I said, in front of that same baby, "oh hell no" thus breaking that 5 year string of not saying a bad word in front of my son. In that situation of having to drive to the nearest awning in this crazy hail, and even crazier DFW drivers, I took a second to quickly say "oh hail, no" thinking my son wouldn't notice a difference between my original statement and the remix. Not sure it worked, or even mattered, as my car was getting pummeled. We pulled in to a gas station and waited a few minutes while the hail passed. When I finally got around to fixing it I brought it to a few places and got estimates. All estimates were pretty close in cost but Devine Dents was the most trustworthy, responsive, easy to work with, and phenomenally skilled. It was fixed in a reasonable amount of time and looked so great when I picked it up I almost said "oh hell no!" but my son was with me. read more
