Thai Xpress makes very average food that is great for a quick lunch. The atmosphere is kind of sub par. It always seems kind of hectic and disorganized with plastic bags all over the counter. Today they were out of the only pop they have that I would drink (diet Pepsi) but failed to mention that when they sold me the $3 empty cup lol. This place has declined ALOT. The food still always comes out hot, and atleast tastes decent, but there has been a steep and tangible reduction in the portion sizing here, with an uptick in prices. Not only are the overall portion sizes smaller, but expect to be skimped on whatever kind of protien you pick. I've been coming here for a few years. However due to their new counter employee, I probably will not be back. Last week when I went, I asked for siracha sauce, he gave me chili paste and I didn't know until I got home. This week I ordered the same thing: Pad Thai with no peanuts, extra beansprouts, with chili Ken and shrimp. I asked very politely if I could please have a small condiment cup for my siracha, explaining I didn't get it last week. He said no he had to do it. He then fills the cup, and takes it in the back behind their black curtain. Why? The tops are right up front in view. He then slides it (almost tosses it) to me across the counter. For an express location I am absolutely in LOVE with their House Special Noodles & their Thai Curry. Other people I know like their fried rice but I personally rather go with their house noodles or Curry. The house special noodles are like crack in noodle form. Gives me nostalgia of going to 7-11 in Hong Kong and getting their noodles that they stir fried on the spot for you. It as delish as ramen but isn't made from the cheap ramen fake noodles. They need to change the name to crack noodles because once I had them I was instantly hooked!! Their Curry was okay in the past, however, recently I don't know what changed but it tastes wayyy better; creamier, more flavorful and more savory. The portions are great and they don't skimp on the vegetables and meat. Their crab Rangoon actually had bits of what I believe is crab sticks and I was really shocked because all the Rangoon I've had before only had cream cheese in it (I don't normally eat Rangoon or cream cheese). Their fried shrimp rolls are good too, one side of the roll will have more shrimp than the other just because of how long the rolls are so I would advise getting at least 2 orders of if you plan on sharing. read more

My lunch order was a Gang Ga Ree with chicken, which is a yellow curry with potatoes and noodles, plus a big scoop of white rice. Medium is still kind of hot so the rice was helpful to cool it down. Quite tasty and a good portion. I also got their "fresh rolls" which I've seen elsewhere named "summer rolls." They're spring rolls, only, they're not fried. Thai Quest 2010 brought me to a new place. I ventured out to the mysterious Evergreen Road in Southfield, deep in the land of tall buildings, beige strip malls, and weird condos. On the way to Thai Xpress I passed the Southfield City Buildings, the Mary Thompson farm and some other interesting places. Thai Xpress is small. There are only about five, two seat high-tops in the place. This is definitely a carry-out place and probably does a lot of business at lunch. I tried the Curry Pad Thai. I don't know if it's an "authentic" dish but I like the curry and noodle combination. I ordered my food and the food was out in 5 minutes. When they say Xpress, they really mean it. The food was hot and fresh and very tasty. The dish had a nice yellow curry color. I ordered medium spicy and I think it was spiced perfectly. It was enough to feel the heat, but it didn't force you to consume a lot of water. The most interesting part of the menu is "create your own stir-fry". Here, you pick a protein, rice or noodles, a sauce and as many vegetables as you want. The proteins are the typical beef, chicken, pork or tofu. The vegetables options are a good selection of a lot of different vegetables. There are about 8 sauces to choose from and pretty much any kind of Thai sauce you could ask for. Man when I tell you this food was super good and spot on for Thai. I wish they had more reviews so I'm leaving one lol the rices are so flavorful you don't need any sauces added. I also tried a similar dish, but also had peanuts and pineapple in it. It was pretty good, but I felt like I ate a whole bag of chili cheese Fritos. I won't call myself a Thai food connoisseur so please don't use this food for a reference for "good" or "authentic" Thai food, instead look at this review from the point of view of someone who only orders Pad Thai, and has only had it from 4 different places. I love calling my order in and when I say I want my food at the "hot" spice level (they offer five levels-no spice, mild, medium, hot and xtra hot), the waitress never fails to warn "okay, but the hot is really spicy are you sure you want hot?" She's not lying. I tried the xtra hot one time and I could eat it but it was not really enjoyable. So I stick with just hot and keep water on hand. To give you an idea of what I consider spicy, I carry tobacco sauce with me at all times and enjoy the occasional munch on a habanero pepper. My husband ordered the Pad Thai and I don't remember what I ordered but it had broccoli and mushrooms with a dark gravy sauce over rice, I also asked them to add tofu and wow it was amazing. If you are into spicy, they will ask you how spicy you want your food. Last time we went for the spiciest option they had and I wasn't even able to eat the food it was so hot!
