Ingrid was FANTASTIC. I have a shellfish allergy, and while Castle Hill, despite very obviously being known for their incredible marine menu, has always accommodated me, never in my life have I felt so well taken care of in terms of allergies. Ingrid asked questions, checked in on any shared dish, and was the right kind of attentive. Being in hospitality my whole life, this is the kind of work ethic and care you reward. Another name to mention is Carly. We came on her first day just this week and she was extremely attentive and eager. She was up for the challenge (serving my family, lol) and was incredible. Castle Hill is not only an institution, but a Mecca of great hospitality. So happy with the people here every time I come.

Was not at all impressed with the service, ever, especially for a special event venue catering largely to weddings where service is everything. To be clear, it was a brunch buffet, not a sit down meal. That said, it was Mother's Day. Tables were set beautifully. Server brought us water, nothing else. If we wanted a cocktail, we had to stand at the bar and get it ourselves. Coffee after lunch? Ditto. Brunches have multiple courses. We should have been given clean cutlery in exchange for the removal of a plate instead of being forced to lay dirty cutlery on a clean ivory tablecloth and then reuse them, again and again. That part was a total turnoff and not encouraging for anyone considering it as a future event venue. The food offering was varied and generally a success. The bacon was delicious and good quality. The frittata bites were a good and elegant option to the usual chafing dish full of scrambled eggs. Kudos to the chef for the beef sirloin although at $95 a head, one might have expected a carving station over sliced beef steaks piled into a chafing dish that just dried out the beef over time. The accompanying horseradish cream was quite good. Everyone seemed to really love the raw bar and raclette station. The desserts were well curated , not just slabs of sweets on the table. The pasta dishes? Meh. The cacio e pepe was nothing more than a runny version of the mac and cheese from the kids table with some pancetta or proscuitto specks in it. Fairly tasteless. Location was wonderful but at that likely price point for a private event, I thought the experience was mediocre. Looking forward to going back to Castle Hill instead.

There was also a beverage station with tea, coffee and water available all day as well as an assortment of nuts, trail mix and candy. My boyfriend and I decided to make a night of it, and check into this super cute hidden gem, nestled right behind the Newport Art Museum and steps from Bellevue Avenue and the Newport Mansions district. The facility and the rooms are sparkling clean, and don't even get me started about the decor! It is to die for - quirky, fun, and super Instagram-friendly. They are owned by Lark Hotels, a small company, and the bird details are subtly present throughout. My favorite nod to their namesake was an adorable Do Not Disturb sign that hung on the guestroom door reading "Shh.. We're Nesting." It honestly took all my willpower not to steal it! Ahem. We had a great experience with Peter, the Attwater's Front Desk Manager. Not only did he call us prior to check in to see if he could assist with anything we would need, he also upgraded us from the small Queen room that we had booked to the spacious Lark Suite, their largest accommodation. The suite had a gas fireplace, soaking tub, and gorgeous seating area with a dining table and several cozy couches and armchairs. We were super grateful for his hospitality, and even when we had a minor issue with the heating system in the room not lowering, Peter assisted us in the morning and generously offered vouchers for a future night stay. Thank you for your attention to detail and hospitality! I also LOVED the fact that the Attwater offers hot items in their included breakfast. We stay at a lot of small bed and breakfasts as stay and vacations, and one can only have so many cranberry muffins or glazed croissants. They did offer morning pastry standbys, but I was delighted to find a warm and delicious Cheddar Hash Brown Egg Bake and Shredded Brussels Slaw with Hard Boiled Eggs among the offerings. It really took the stay to the next level, and as a couple that stays at several B&Bs and small hotels, it did not go unnoticed! We can't wait for our next chance to visit :)

I don't know if there were any mix ups or mistakes as the day progressed, but what I saw and experienced was wonderful. After leaving the church, there were a couple of hours before the reception. We were told to head to the Safari Room at Ocean Cliff, which was wonderfully receptive to the amount of people that showed up! The espresso Martini's were awesome! The cocktail hour then opened up and was just as delicious and beautiful. The bride and groom both had specialty drinks. The hor'dourves were delicious, and the view spectacular! Dinner was just as wonderful, although my filet mignon was a bit overcooked to my liking. However, it was very good and cut like butter. There were quite a few people at this wedding, but the dance floor was giant and nobody was dancing on top of each other! The DJ was awesome (wish I got his name), and kept the dance floor busy all night. There were plenty of servers, everyone was friendly and helpful. The wedding party and family members had room at the Ocean Cliff, and had nothing but good things to say. If you have a chance to go to or host an event at the Ocean Cliff, I don't think you'd be disappointed!!

We parked in the front and unloaded the cars easily. We did not use valet, the Marriott lot was $48 a night. Walking to the lot next door took about 2 minutes. The lobby is spacious, clean and very pretty. There's a water machine with flavored waters. Front desk staff are very professional and friendly. Valet guys are all nice and open the doors for you 98% of the time. With the daily destination fee, you also get 2 free tickets per room to the sailing museum or a vineyard 15 mins away (Sailing museum is free on Wednesdays). Had I known the museum was free Wednesdays, I would have chose the vineyard tickets instead. You also get $20 per room to use at the bar/restaurants as well as 2 bikes to rent. We checked into connecting balcony rooms. The rooms were clean but the balcony doors were hard to open. You have to pull it back really hard before unlocking it. The beds were comfortable. There are no microwaves but I called in to request one for the room. The first night I went to skiff bar to order some food and use our 2 $20 food credits. I ordered oysters and coconut shrimp. The oyster appetizer was terrible... the oysters flesh was tiny, totally not worth it. The next morning we had the hotel buffet for $32 a head. Omelet station was good. Standard breakfast items, view was good. We really only ate there for the view. Our waitress was barely around. Hotel is at a great location. Very close to the wharf and also right across from a small aquarium. The balcony was a nice place to chill, overall the hotel wasn't crowded. It's also very safe because you need to swipe a keycard to get to the hotel rooms. Best part of staying here was a pool table in the skiff bar. While waiting for my food, I just played two games by myself. I usually stay at Hiltons but I chose this Marriott because of the location and views. Glad I made this decision. I would definitely pick this hotel again should I decide to visit Rhode Island again!
