You ever walk past a pizza place that calls itself "Best in Town" it's risky to self proclaim such things. BUT THESE GUYS. They are REALLY THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME movers!! We used them for a HUGE project move ourselves and my bfs mom out of his childhood home ( 3bedrooms) in Santa Monica to two separate apartments in San Francisco. Mike was responsive and accommodating of our ever shifting moving schedule. He also suggested splitting our move over two days as any time over 8 hours would be billed as over time. He sent a team on day one to pack our 4 bedroom townhouse which took about 5-6 hours, and on day two a second team came to load, move, and unpack our stuff. This alone took 8 hours, so the decision to split the move over two days was very appreciated. His crew worked diligently and fast, and were more cautious with heavy items vs other movers I have hired. The primary person (group leader figure), Tim, was also very good in understanding and delegating tasks to his colleagues. Would recommend, and hire again. read more

Not entirely sure how this company has a 5-star rating. Bear with me through this detailed review... We were moving long distance and received many quotes, but went with GOAT due to seemingly having the best price as well as mostly good reviews. They also explicitly mentioned only single moves aka one customer per truck... boy do I wish that was the case. We scheduled loading Friday morning and then we would meet them at the destination the following morning to unload. On Thursday, they called and said they wouldn't be able to load our things until late afternoon due to "truck issues" when we were supposed to have done our walk through with our landlord and be on our 400 mile journey. We were a bit upset at the last minute change, but thought it is what it is. Then we get a call back that they figured it out and can in fact come in the morning. Great. They come around the morning time and get to work. We had given them the sq foot and rooms with pictures of our things, but the movers seemed annoyed that "everything was going" .... Isn't this what we're paying you for? We understand we have a lot of things, hence hiring a company. We moved 7 months prior with one less mover and moved out of a 6th story apt in about 2 hours. We thought the included 3 hours would be plenty of time... wrong. By the end of the 3rd hour with only a few large items left, the movers slowed way down... we would periodically check the truck to see what the hold up was to see that there was still plenty of space to put the last few items in. We noted that they were tightly packing/Tetris-ing our things to the ceiling of the truck, which was confusing since there was still so much room. It took them another two hours (total of 5) aka an extra $300 to put the last piece of our couch in... with at least 6-8 feet left in the truck. In order to complete the first half payment, we complained to Mike on the phone about the extra time when the movers weren't doing much. Our concerns were written off. We drive up that afternoon sitting in LA traffic when we thought we'd be out much sooner. About 7-8pm rolls around, and we get a call from Mike that our things won't be arriving until the afternoon. When questioned, it's because THEY HAVE ANOTHER CLIENT'S BELONGINGS IN OUR TRUCK THAY THEY ARE DROPPING OFF FIRST. Um what? Now it all makes sense... the timing... the Tetris-ing... the annoyance... but now that they had our money and our things, they finally admit this. We were extremely upset and pointed out they said they don't do multiple deliveries... mike tried to cover his ass by saying "we were upfront about the issues" when all that was ever mentioned was "truck issues." Awesome. We show up to our destination at noon, and they were supposed to be there at 1pm. Yet another call from Mike that they will be late... 2-3 pm... we give them 15-30 minutes leeway before we make another call... they finally show up at 5pm. We sat in our home on the floor for 5 hours while we contemplated whether or not our things will be showing up. We had to pay before our things were unloaded, which was uncomfortable since we didn't know if anything was missing or broken. They had to call Mike two times to get the correct balance remaining, which we then complained again. We got a whopping $100 off. The two movers didn't finish until about 8-830pm without reassembling furniture, unwrapping, or removing trash. A few small items were misplaced, a piece of furniture was packed upside down which ruined the shelves in it, and there were marks on the freshly painted white walls in our new place. I gave an extra star since the unloaders were nice. Please, take your business elsewhere. read more

He assured me that it was just human error and this type of problem was not normal, which gives me peace of mind. ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ Original Review: I was truly shocked at how the movers made our move exponentially more work and more difficult than it needed to be. They also knew that I am both pregnant have a foot injury (I was wearing a boot and we discussed it) and still managed to make moving day so stressful. To kick it all off, they said that they could disassemble/re-assemble furniture. When we got to the new apartment they told us that even though they disassembled the furniture, they lost some screws and were unable to put it back together. When I told them they needed to put it back together, they tried to makeshift it so we wouldn't be upset. At the end, they completely broke our $1000 bed frame in multiple places. On the website it clearly says "We'll dispose of all packing supplies" but they left loads of plastic wrap on all of the furniture which caused for tons of extra work on our part. They left immediately after delivering the furniture even though they mentioned they had no work left for the day, leaving us to clean up all their mess. They were also incredibly slow and definitely took their time, all while damaging our furniture regardless. And they included their lunch break in their working time for which we payed them. On our contract the estimated work time was 3 and a half hours, but we paid for 5 hours for a 1 bedroom apartment that is 15 min away-- which I would have no problem paying if they at least were careful or thorough with cleanup. read more

In short from my previous post: Laggy movers who literally weren't GOAT and took 11 hours to move pre-boxed and pre-packaged everything done so by my wife and I that we took two weeks to prepare so they can be in and out (and estimated should have been more of a 6-7 hour move); tried to charge me 12.5 hours; talked them down to 12 hours; EVEN THOUGH Sales manager didn't expect them to take this long, along with ripping our couch equaled $250 compensation from a courtesy call on 7/18 @ 1pm which is ok and fair (they still didn't address the couch), the experience was just not only grueling but tiring at best and leaves some disdain and distrust to our movers. Especially after a fresh start from our son's death into our new place. Not the start I wanted but at least it's a step in the right direction. UPDATE: Bobby our sales manager definitely reached out and I believe is probably the only person at GOAT at this point that made it a bit easier to this whole move. I just wished our movers were more like him, but that's just the way it is, sometimes the cards you're dealt are what comes of it. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I hired G.O.A.T. movers as they offered me an affordable rate of $105/hr compared to $129/hr I was quoted from other vendors. I have used movers before, but since I was working with a budget I decided to try someone new. Please mind you, I have a walking disability, which is why I use movers. I was given an arrival window between 8am-9am, the movers arrived at 9:15am. They had me sign paperwork at their arrival vouching they are starting at 9:15am. After signing, the guys disappeared for a full 10 minutes before returning to actually start work. When it got to moving the couch, we suggested taking the it apart to make it easier. Their guys brushed it off and said they were familiar with the couch and knew what they were doing. Same thing happened with it came to the bed frame and demounting the TV. They wasted so much time wrapping and unwrapping things because they couldn't fit it through the door without taking things apart. (This added at least 2 hours of unnecessary labor.) When I moved in to my last place, I had hired movers and I had also more stuff at that time. With less stuff to move than before, these guys were already taking longer than my last move. Eventually, we started to help a bit more and I got them out of our old place and headed to the new place. They walked in without any booties and did not roll out any paper to protect the floors. They can clearly see it is a brand new place thats never been lived in before but did nothing to help protect it while they moved. My brand new floors were scratched, my walls also scratched and dented. My bed frame was scratched. Couch was not reassembled properly AND the TV mount is missing screws AND they demounted it wrong. I called Bobby at G.O.A.T., to let him know what was happening while the move was still going on. He asked if they were able to finish the job and that they will resolve any concerns before the movers left. At the end of the move (10 HOURS to move a one bedroom apartment 2 miles!!), I called Bobby back to see what they can do to help. They wanted to charge full price but offered 2 hours when I complained about how much time their guys spent disassembling things improperly even though we tried to offer our help to make it easier and speed them up. They offered nothing to fix the damages done to my property. Instead, the owners threatened to cut pay from their movers and made them beg me to pay the full price. It got very awkward when it came time to pay and have them leave. In the end, I negotiated a total of 3 hours off because of the damages done but even that was not enough to cover everything we have to pay to fix. These movers have no professional experience. They do not come in prepared and take no responsibility for their lack of experience or training. I should have spent the extra $25/hour to hire the movers I used before. Professional Moving Company actually did a much better job and costed far less in the long run. We decided very last minute to get movers and I'm so happy we went with GOAT Movers. We had two Queen beds, a very heavy dresser and many many endless boxes + we moved from a house to a 2nd story apartment with NO elevator. I didn't have to wrap a single dish! The best part is that they moved fast. There was no standing around.... they guys were quick and did not waste time. The only thing that was remotely successful about our move with this company was the fact that our stuff made it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas-- not even in one piece. A wholly inadequate crew arrived, late, and took a long time to load. The second stop of the move, whose sole purpose was to load a grand piano, took approximately 3.5 hours longer than expected. Truck wasn't started to be unloaded in Vegas until 11:30pm. At 1am, they helped welcome us to the neighborhood by dropping our piano off the back of the truck. Great. The two "movers" (read: teenagers in an enterprise rent-a-truck) they sent basically refused to do anything other than dump all of our stuff in our living room so they could get the hell out of dodge. The only recourse we've received was that the owner refunded us $1200 for our trouble. We still have yet to assess the damage amounts to our piano. Stay! Away! read more

Getting a quote was straightforward, no hidden fees or anything like that. GOAT movers made the whole process so easy. GOAT is the greatest! I spoke with Bobby initially and he gave me the details on how their services work. No pressure, just a quick call with the details. He didn't even ask for a deposit which worried me a tiny bit, but was in communication the entire time which eased my worries. We considered other moving companies, like five star moving, but the sales pitch was so off putting. A stark contrast from Bobby. Very chill & matter of fact. AJ & Eddie we're so great. Very communicative and on time. They handled everything with care. They made everything seamless. Wrapped every single item with care and even put some of our stuff that was in weak boxes into stronger ones. Couldn't imagine yesterday without them. They came with a 26' truck, it was huge! But our 1 bedroom barely fit. And they packed it to the brim! We do have a lot of weird shaped items, like a peloton, though. I'm so happy I didn't get the 15" uHaul. We would have been up sh*ts creek. The only thing I would change was getting a 3rd guy. Bobby recommended it initially, but I declined as we only had a 1 br and a small elevator. In my mind, I couldn't envision where they would have fit because of the small space. But it would have made it easier on everyone if they had an extra set of hands. And faster. Those boys were working non stop all day! $99 an hour, plus double drive time (weekday). We had a 2 hour drive. We gave a well deserved 20% tip. read more

I am always skeptical of claims that seem too good to be true. And, to be honest, when reviewing whether to hire GOAT I gave more strength on the negative reviews precisely because there were so few of them. How could things go so wrong when everyone else seems so happy? I will never know the answer because I simply cannot understand how anyone could have a bad experience. THIS WAS THE BEST MOVE OF MY LIFE. and I have used professional movers at least 10 times, including moving to Germany and back again. First of all Mike in the office was totally responsive, answered all my questions and clarified a discrepancy between his commitment and the auto sign contract that was sent to me and was 100% good to his word. But even more importantly Bibo and the moving team were punctual, very communicative and careful with our possessions. Treated them like they were moving their own home. They packed in very reasonable time given our home size. We moved around 350 miles from the LA area to San Jose and they arrived at the destination exactly on time the next morning. Let me just say that I have moved quite a few times in my lifetime. Most of my experiences have left me wary of all moving services. Broken furniture and large appliances (dropped my fridge!). Then when you contact the moving company for repairs, they disappear or make excuses, etc. These three college Gentlemen gave us THE BEST moving day we have EVER experienced. I cannot express how fantastic these young men were!!! I mean, Polite! Courteous. Considerate. Thorough. On time. Went Above and Beyond what one comes to expect from movers. I probably complimented Eddie, Ted and Ama more times during the day then they liked (I wanted to stay out of their way, of course). I can't believe how well our move went. Not a single glitch, nor damage, nor wall scraping or floor scratches to be had with these men. No way! I told them that if I ever hear if a friend moving that they are absolutely who I'd recommend!! We made them break for lunch, and felt we owed them a huge debt for their caring work and told them that anything they'd like to eat, we are treating them. I mean, they could have requested lobster and caviar and we would have happily served it to them. And to learn they were going to A SECOND MOVING JOB after ours?!?!? I mean COME ON, now!!! Insanely dedicated gentlemen right there!!!! I'm sure anyone reading this gas had similar experiences with movers and damages, smelly dudes looking like they were recently released from prison coming into your home and nit giving a rat's tushy about you nor your property. GOAT movers were great, very affordable, quick and efficient in moving my one bedroom apt into my boyfriends place. I've hired movers in the past and this was my cheapest move yet despite the new place being on the 4th floor with only a small elevator and no parking in front of the building. I had 2 movers, Dan and Addi who were able to manage everything from the street. They were able to take down my boyfriend's old couch to discard and maneuver my couch into a narrow stairwell and get it into the apartment quickly without any damages.
