We enjoyed the vegetarian papusas. We sat in the back and chatted with the owner who is also the chef. Coming back home I knew I wanted to eat good but wanted to see what new restaurants had been built since I left. Thankfully Yelp brought this place up! Gobble this is located in old town so the parking will be very scarce but there's always street parking on the outskirts. The place is nestled in between other shops but you can't miss the sign/you don't want to miss this place. Upon walking in the restaurant I was greeted right away by who I found out was the owner Nester. He was very friendly and answered all the questions my mother had lol. The inside is very spacious and decorated in traditional new Mexican style. The restaurant is considered café style soyou go up to the register order pay then they'll bring you the food out. I was fresh off of a flight and was extra hungry. I ordered the chips salsa and guacamole for the starter. It came up first and was so fresh and delicious I liked the hint of cucumber in the salsa. Also, it was not hot at all btw so if you like that you'll need to add some hot sauce. The next thing we ordered were the carnita, black bean and green chili pupusa's. Those were so good I can't even describe to you the depth of the flavors the beans were cooked perfectly. Like most pupusas it came with ensalada on the side, salsa, and crema oh and also yummy yucca fries that my mom could not stop raving over. We also ordered the Duke city pupusa it was absolutely delicious came with Carnitas on top cheese, pickled cabbage, salsa, creams,guacamole literally the works. This purchase came with a side of ensalada fruit juice it was perfection! Lastly we got the carne asada and carnitas tacos both came with chips and salsa. The flavors were absolutely amazing I favored the Carnitas taco because it had a little bit more heat. But everything was hands-down amazing made to order fresh deliciousness. Does not disappoint!! Staff is very nice and they have art throughout the restaurant you can purchase. Food was made to order and got our food in 30 minutes. This is a very unique spot. As other reviewers have stated, it's not a traditional dine in experience. As an attendee for a Yelp event, I was treated very well. Although I walked in late, the staff was very accommodating, sat us down, and even warmed up food for us :) The Salvadorian cuisine was good and tasty!! Before we left, an employee spoke of how they operate. He informed on how their restaurant operated and how it was unique. He began by saying it was $50 for a four course meal. It is unique in that you are able to come and leave the restaurant as you please. To add, you can BOYOB, smoke weed, and play a variety of board games. Okay this place is absolutely amazing. The food here is phenomenal. Hands down some of the best dishes I've eaten in a long time. The food just kept getting better and better. You have to reserve to dine and it does cost $50 per person for about 3-7 dishes (we got lucky and ended up getting 7 AMAZING dishes!). You can definitely tell the food is made fresh and that the chef really takes his time and care with each dish. From my understanding there menu changes and they make sure to ask for your allergies before serving you. Their pastelilos are out of this world! So much flavor with tender meat, but a crispy breading. Heavenly. We asked for another and they didn't charge extra. From my understanding if you finish all of your courses and still want more food you can request for a dish you've already had to help fill you up. I have been following Gobble This on Social Media for awhile. This past Halloween the stars aligned and I made it in to sample the dishes I had heard so much about. I am a Native New Mexican and I am so glad that we have this gem in our city! The food was delicious, hand made fresh to order. As is was Halloween there was a lot of activity in the restaurant because they were giving out candy to all the trick or treaters. I chose a cozy spot right next to the kitchen, my thought was that is would be nice a warm. I was greeted by owner and chef Nestor. He explained the menu options. I let him know that I am a foodie of sorts, and that I loved mole but it can be hard to find. The food came out fast and hot and very tasty!!! My only regret is that it took me so long to finally try Gobble this! The Vibe in the restaurant was lovely, Nestor and his staff are all super kind and I loooove the way they were interacting with all the kids and families. Get your Gobble on! I had eaten at Gobble This' food truck many times in the past and am disappointed in myself for not visiting the Old Town restaurant location sooner. You absolutely cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, and hanging out inside the colorful restaurant is also a treat. Loved all the beautiful plants and local artwork. My friend and I had the hardest time choosing from the menu because we wanted one of everything. I ordered the El Chumpe sliders - gaahhhhh inside the tasty Salvadoran pulled turkey sliders: tomato mole, sliced cucumber and radish, slaw, watercress, and mango pineapple habanero salsa on the side. My vegetarian friend chose the roasted garlic, spinach and cheese pupusa as well as the black bean, Green Chile and cheese one. The garlic pupusa was the winner between the two, and I can't wait to try the other pupusas - give me all the meat! Chef Nestor and his friendly employees are awesome. From reading the reviews this evening, it looks like we missed out on a good time but the hostess who met us this morning did not do a very good job of selling the restaurant. She kept saying "you are paying for the experience" but failed to ever mention what "the experience" was. We already know we love pupusas, my husband is Salvadoran so we kept thinking what experience, eating pupusas? Lol. We were so psyched because again, we love pupusas and plantains but without more explanation, who would pay $35 per person? I tried to explain that I cannot eat much as I had weight loss surgery years ago and am lucky to eat 1 pupusa and an order of plantains, so $35 for me would be way too much but my husband was so looking forward to tearing up some delicious food from his homeland. What a disappointment as they were unwilling to make any adjustments for someone who cannot eat much. We may try it again one day since people are raving about it but $35 is pretty steep for 1 pupusa and some plantains for people who can't eat much. I need to add that I asked if only my husband could eat and I would just sit there with him, which I was completely fine with not eating, but I was told no. She said to just sit there with him I would still have to pay $35 for my seat, what the heck!? Very odd. read more

I wish I could give this place 10+ stars. I'm not kidding when I say this was one of the best meals I've ever had. It's in an adorable and historic part of Albuquerque and it was so calm and right across from the main public square. The chef put magic into every single thing he made. Even the tortilla chips by themselves were to die for. Because it was more of a "chefs special" style, you do feel like you're welcome into a home where he cooks food full of love for you. Very accommodating of our sweet dog, and the friendliest staff. The chips, Baja sauce, and guac were perfect. He made us garlic and cheese pupusas which I was hesitant about at first because we aren't huge garlic people but each bite was a spiritual experience. The rice and beans were heaven-sent (I don't even like beans and I inhaled them). The potato chips had the same incredible seasoning and were truly ethereal. Crispy and thin, melt in your mouth after a good crunch addicting. The juice they made was also to die for and came with the yummiest tamarind straw. And for the grand finale: the steak (carne asada) tacos. I am genuinely speechless because I can't think of an adequate word to describe just how good they were. These were probably the best tacos I have ever had. I don't know when I will be in Albuquerque next but I will make sure to come again just for this meal.
