I've been here twice now, first time was when they just opened, which was really good. This time left a lot to be desired. First impressions count and walking in I noticed lots of weeds and garbage around the building. The buffet section was really bad this time. Half the food was not hot, and it was all dried out, fried food. The fish tasted bad. The grill section was about what you'd expect, it's cooked fresh and is the only redeeming quality of this place although even that tastes weird, like the meat is old. Our kids love this place as much as we do, the location is easy to miss in a busy area but make sure you give them a try! It's been a while since I posted a review and it's good to be back! There are a few restaurants we've tried previously so I'll post my reviews soon. I saw this restaurant from one of Linda Eats World Instagram posts and was intrigued by it. I love Mongolian grill noodles and to have a place that focuses on the dish in Raleigh made me really happy. So we headed over during the weekend lunchtime to try their fare. The rundown: - the fried rice they served was so plain, bland and hardly any garnish. Definitely a D. - the buffet savory items were typical Chinese bland fare. With the exception of the fried squid and Rangoons. The two I give a B+. The rest were a C+. - the clam chowder, while tasty didn't have any clams at all. Mostly potatoes. I'll give this a B-. - the hot and sour soup was a little disappointing. Had a strong soy sauce taste and not that spicy. I'll give this a C-. - the Mongolian grill noodle preparation was good! The sauce was rich but not overpowering, the buffet ingredients were well prepared except for the shrimp. It looked a little water-logged. The food was cooked well and I enjoyed it. I'll give it A-. The service is great. A+. The restrooms were immaculate and the dining area was well lit, clean and inviting. I'd give this an A. Overall, this is a Four Star establishment. Definitely worth visiting. We'll come back for dinner someday to see how they fare. read more

My husband chose Gobi Mongolian Grill for his birthday lunch because we haven't done Mongolian BBQ in forever. We saw that this was a new place and wanted to try it out. It was fairly empty at lunch time, with only two or three tables taken. This was actually ideal because we didn't have to wait very long for our food to cook. The inside kind of reminds me of a Red Lobster mixed with a mall cafeteria and pizza place. There's no real flow to the design, no charm. There is a small buffet area where you can choose fish, crawfish, shrimp, fried appetizers, and there's a dessert bar, too. I had the fried shrimp, crab rangoon, and egg drop soup. The soup was kind of bland but the fried shrimp was really good with the sweet and sour sauce. The crab rangoon was alright. I went back for more fried shrimp but didn't try the other offerings. The Mongolian BBQ side was decent. There are lots of veggie and meat items to choose from. There's no real direction on how to do it so I grabbed two bowls, one for noodles and veggies and the other for meats. They allowed us to do this but I'm unsure if that's how it's supposed to go. As for the sauces, I chose which ones I wanted and the guy asked me if I wanted all of them. I guess they typically use all of the sauces so that's what I did. My husband chose his sauces and they didn't ask if he wanted all of them. My plate was really good and I was satisfied. My husband made a second bowl (it's AYCE) and ate too much ha. Personally, I would rate this three stars but my husband really liked this place so that's why I reviewed Gobi at 4 stars to meet in the middle. I don't think there's a real "wow" factor to Gobi and just think it's okay overall. But since my husband likes it so much, we will back (and I honestly will be fine with it). read more

This was one of the first places we came to last year when it was a seafood restaurant now it reopened as a Mongolian grill . I can't say enough good things about this place first the service was fast and all the staff is extremely friendly. The restaurant is spacious and the staff cleans it often and they kept the little aquarium which my kids love at the entrance . Side note bring quarters if your kids like those little candy/sticker machines . The all you can eat concept here in North Carolina are you kidding me we have been looking for something like this since we moved from Las Vegas. They have a small section of hot foods and desserts and ice cream variety. They also have the grill section where you can pack a bowl with noodles or veggies or meat or all the above and give it to them for cooking in front of your eyes . Updated tip: Went back last Saturday and oh my this place was absolutely packed . The staff did a good job the people that ate there were rowdy . The line to get your food cooked was long and everyone kept letting their aunts and uncles and cousins and parents you get it cut in line . There should not be spot holds . Anyways do not leave the line because they call out your bowl right before going in the grill if it's not claimed right away they put it to the side and it does not get cooked. We arrived hungry at this particular restaurant and the food is so delicious and presentable. The server was on top of it. As soon as you are done with your plate, they will take it away from your table. The interior is very clean, simple and plenty of elbow space. I highly recommend this eat-all you can. In my opinion, it is significantly superior to Mongolian Crazyfire. The buffet was significantly cleaner, with fresh vegetables, and the all-you-can-eat price was very reasonable. Great place to eat with a great selection! I loved the grill section of the restaurant and being able to choose whatever I wanted and have it cooked right in front of me. They have a great selection of veggies and meats to choose from. They also have a great hot and cold bar with a good selection of other foods as well such as fruits, fried chicken and fish, salmon, mussels, crawfish, spring rolls, fried, etc. They even have an ice cream station and an assortment of desserts. The food was bad at times, ok at other times, and great at others. Here is what they don't tell you(for those who have never been to this type of restaurant). They have a buffet(the bad part). Food was old, hard, not fresh. They also have a grill side(here is the ok and good parts). You take a bowl, load up however many noodles you want, and add your toppings(veggies, proteins, ECT). You then give the cook your bowl and tell them spicy or plain. They cook the lomein noodles right there! So.depending on how big of a bowl you make yourself, it might come out looking dry(if you overload) or it might come out looking like what you'd order from a to go Chinese hibachi place. If you are going, you are going for this, not the buffet. My only other gripe is the price isn't worth the experience. There was 6 of us. 2 adults. 1 kid over 12, and 3 under 12. Our bill before restaurant impose gratuity was like $125(they had a note at the front saying parties of 6 or more incurred a 15% gratuity). Now here is my gripe. They bring the check, barely gave me time to review it before asking for payment, and after I paid, THEY KEPT THE CHECK! I've never had a restaurant do that. Tables are bussed and hot food is replenished regularly. The food, though, is mediocre at best. The sauce is entirely flavorless, even the "spicy" version (0 out of 5 on the heat scale). The hot apps are all out of the bottom end of Sysco/US Food's freezer catalog but at least they are freshly fried and the fryer oil isn't rancid. If all that's important is huge quantities of food at a good price, this is your place. If you'd like something that actually tastes good (or tastes like anything), try Bali Hai. It's not AYCE but you get what you pay for. read more

Glad to see that another Mongolian grill has opened in Raleigh. We definitely needed another option in this area. They didn't make many changes to the interior so it does look a bit dated. We were seated quickly & our server was very attentive with our drinks. This is self service with a hot bar, cold bar & a separate area for the Mongolian grill selections. Hot bar selections were mainly fried items like wings, fries, fried fish etc... The cold bar had salads & dessert items as well as a separate dip your own ice cream. The grill area had a good variety of noodles, veggies & proteins. You choose what you'd like & they'll cook it on the grill for you. The only thing that would've made it better is if we were able to tailor the sauces on our own & if there were more variety in this area. We stopped at the appetizers and then filled our plates to be served on the bbq. It was delicious. My kids enjoyed the non spicy with all the oils and sauces while myself and my husband got the spicy option. They have a variety of desserts and ice cream from Hershey. Yes sir!!! Fresh, delicious these people have everything Profitts fruits and vegetables, the fried fish and chicken to the cleanest Mongolian bar you ever seen.. The restaurant is very clean. They have two big televisions to watch. They sell lunch until 4 PM. It's only 1299 at 4 PM 1699. Four chicken legs and chicken breast to go into the Mongolian food. They have smoked sausages. They bring a couple of ice, but you don't need it. Fresh muscles. The host was very nice and they have someone here to clean up your tables as you eat. Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambience: 4 Date/Time: 1/25/2025 6pm Crowd: packed with 15 min wait This was a tough call for reviewing. The food is good but the logistics and set up for handling a large crowd could use some thought. Let's start... This restaurant is a cross between Crazy Fire Mongolian Grill and China Buffet. It offers both a "hot and cold" buffet where you take a dish and serve yourself. Then, as with most any Mongolian grill place, it has a separate section that serves up the raw veggies and protein to put in one or more bowls and hand it to a preparer who cooks it on a round grill. All for $17 (as of this writing) or $12 for lunch. The hot bar offers fried shrimp, chicken, crab balls, some baked fish and some soups (hot & sour and clam chowder today), among other items. The cold bar offers fruit, cakes and ice cream of various flavors. All the food there was very good. On the Mongolian grilling side, the veggies were fresh and all the chicken, pork and beef were frozen and sliced thin. Other proteins included shrimp, sausage and a few other items. Up to this point it was almost exactly like Crazy Fire. It's when you get to the oils when the whole concept of choice changes. You are asked "spicy or not" and the guy behind the counter loads up all the "oils" (garlic water, sugar water, ginger water (see the pattern?), soy sauce, Mongolian sauce, hot oil (there's one!) and wine(?). Maybe because of the long line waiting to be served up, he doesn't offer you your own choices, and it certainly doesn't taste the same as when I load up my own oils at Crazy Fire. The oils do make a difference. Then there's the process of making sure they cook YOUR bowl contents. They basically load the bowls on a table in the order they are given to them and slide them forward as the bowls are taken off. They ask you which are your bowls so maybe bring a little flag or something because all the bowls tend to look the same! Service by those bussing the tables was excellent. When you put your plate to the side, it's whisked away within minutes. Overall, I'd recommend it if you can figure the time of day it's not crowded. I think things will run smoother. It's been a while since we've had Mongolian BBQ, so we decided to try Gobi Mongolian Grill for lunch on a Saturday. Although the restaurant's Facebook page advertised lunch for $11.99 without qualifiers, we were informed that this price only applies to weekdays. This misleading practice is unacceptable; restaurants should be transparent and honest about their policies. The Mongolian grill section offered a good assortment of fresh vegetables and proteins. I appreciated the option of both white and dark chicken. The frozen curls of chicken, beef, and pork were sliced thicker than those at Bali Hai or Crazy Fire, so fewer slices were needed for a satisfying serving. Although the various sauces were accessible to diners, one of the cooks asked if we wanted our meal "hot" or "not hot," and then added the sauces accordingly. The grill was set to high, cooking the meals very quickly and filling the cooking area with smoke. My meal was hot and mostly moist, with the only significant heat coming from the fresh jalapeños I added from the veggie bar, although I requested "hot". I also sampled a few items from the hot bar and found them consistent in their shortcomings: lukewarm, undercooked, flavorless, and generally unappetizing. Perhaps I visited at an off time or on a bad day, but the hot bar was not good. Visit Gobi for the Mongolian Grill, not for the hot bar. When we entered the restaurant, a greeter seated us, took our drink order, and asked if we wanted white or fried rice. After that, we were left to ourselves. Employees were busy clearing tables and cashing out Customers, but no one checked on us. We ultimately had to flag someone down to request a drink refill, but they were very proactive in bringing the check to our table. Raleigh has an unmet demand for a good Mongolian Grill that is a notch higher than Bali Hai or Crazy Fire. Unfortunately, Gobi Mongolian Grill does not fill that need. read more

FINALLY!!! I moved here 4 years ago and have been waiting patiently for a quality Mongolian BBQ spot. I'm here to tell you it has finally arrived! Right when we walked in we were immediately greeted by friendly hosts and seated. Our server arrived quickly and gave us the rundown of how their establishment works. No menus needed, just head to either the fresh ready cooked food buffet or make your way to the right for the star of the show, the build-your-own bbq bowl. The vast majority of all your favorites will be found here plus some pleasant surprises like scallops, crab meat, etc. The only item they don't currently stock (fingers crossed they're reading this) is tofu. The BBQ turned out DELICIOUS. The appetizer & dessert buffet is equally impressive boasting delicious apps like egg rolls, chicken tenders, fried catfish, French fries, tater tots, soups, Crab Rangoon, and Crawfish. We had the Crab Rangoon, and egg rolls and were very impressed. For dessert, they have items like cake, cookies and ice cream. The ice cream was the star for us. They stock around 6 different high quality flavors of ice cream, from cookies & cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, Butter Pecan, and a few others. The service was exceptional with our server being very friendly and attentive and a manager/owner visiting our table to chat us up and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Finally a Mongolian Grill that rocks!!! Drove all the way from Greensboro (80 miles one way) to try out this new Mongolian Grill. And to be honest.....it was worth EVERY mile and then some!!!! Food was great. Large selection of protein as well as veggies. The cooks did a great job seasoning based upon what meats and veggies you had in your bowls. Super fast cooking! As an added bonus, they have a side bar which included wings, chicken, oysters, spring rolls and other items plus they had a dessert bar with very good Hershey's ice cream (try the rum raisin....YUM!!!) Service was fantastic. They worked the tables as a team. Efficient and friendly. And to boot, it was all you can eat for $20. This place is a treasure. A gem. It rocks! So, I first heard about this place a month ago, when my daughter asked to go for her 11th birthday dinner. We went on a Thursday night & the food wasn't bad. Decided to try it again today for lunch (Saturday). We arrived around 11:15. The sign at the front said the price was $11.99 per person for lunch buffet. Cool. We were seated & then told that half of the hot bar was out of service. Items that my 6 year old son enjoyed last time, such as the fried shrimp, French fries etc were unavailable today because of this. Fine, not a deal breaker. He had noodles & shrimp from the Mongolian side so luckily, he was still able to eat. What was a deal breaker though was when I received my bill & was charged $16.99 instead of the $11.99 that was posted. Their excuse? Someone put the wrong sign out. How is that the customers problem? When I asked would the $11.99 price still be honored, since that was what posted when I walked in, I was told no. The lady at the register then proceeded to say to me "Since we opened 2 months ago, we have always charged dinner prices on the weekends". Now how am I supposed to know that, when this is my first weekend coming here? The whole experience was unprofessional & the fact that they absolutely refused to honor the price that was posted despite it being THEIR mistake blew my mind. Gobi closes at 10pm on Friday. At 9pm they decide to clean the hoods over grill by using a sheet pan to stand on the grill they cook on. Cleaner and chemicals are falling from the hood onto the grill. When I asked to speak to a manager because of this I was told they do this all the time. I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with how they handled the situation. When asked to at least comp half my meal because I was unable and I refuse to get another plate from a grill that they just semi cleaned after cleaning the hoods I was told I still had to pay in full. I have had great experiences here before but as a consumer, manager and cook I was utterly disappointed. The manager called the owner and proceeded to tell me that it's not her call to make about comps when the owner is in the building. When asked to speak to the owner they refused to come out. The manager proceeded to call me a liar and that the cook wasn't standing on the stove when I seen it. read more
