I will not be coming back here. We came here for our anniversary wanting to try it out and it was not the greatest experience. I got a green tea which was probably the best part of the meal. The ginger dressing on the salad was homemade, but I think it was incredibly over priced for the portion. The miso soups were good, super small as well though. Our edamame was over cooked, had them remake it and it was still over cooked. Also a ridiculous small portion for $7. I got one of the spicy signature rolls and it wasn't even spicy, just tasted like straight wasabi. my gf got the berry mojito which tasted like straight granulated sugar, even after mixing. We came in on a Sunday night with our 2 younger kids and had a great meal! To start, our waitresss, Lisa, was very polite and prompt. She was very helpful with suggestions. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is really nice and would be a great spot for a date night! If you have kids, there's a big, grassy area outside and the kids can run around while you sit and eat at their outdoor tables, which is priceless, as a parent! I ordered the chicken hibachi which was very flavorful! The vegetables were super fresh and the chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The portion was huge and could have been 2 meals! My husband got the ramen, which he said was amazing. The portion was also huge. He also ordered sake that he thoroughly enjoyed. My kids had a veggie sushi, some of their fried chicken and some vegetable egg rolls. They loved all of it! They do have a kids menu as well that had a good variety for little ones. While all were tasty, well-prepared and delivered promptly, it didn't stand out as memorable. But we definitely will back soon especially when we visit Lafayette Village again. How do I grade the dishes? The rolls were all B+. My only gripe was the rice was not as well seasoned as I wanted it to be. Needs a little more tangy taste that you get when you prepare the sushi rice with the proper amount of rice vinegar. That was somewhat lacking. B. Other than that, the calamari was really good. Can't believe all the people saying this Hibachi was good. It came covered in some sort of sweet sauce. Tasted like teriyaki, but was told it was there hibachi sauce. I have never had sweet hibachi. I love Sushi One! My family has been going here for years and it is an absolute staple for us. I recently went with my parents. As an appetizer, we ordered the salt and pepper calamari which was breaded and cooked perfectly -- it had a surprising but delicious sweet & salty seasoning on it. The seaweed salad is a must-order. For our main course we ordered the sushi boat for 3 and it was incredible! The perfect amount of food for the three of us. For dessert we got a mochi and cheesecake sampler which came with a green tea mochi ball and a mango mochi ball, as well as 3 small assorted cheesecakes. The first time I visited Sushi One, was a Saturday night. I was looking for somewhere quiet. It definitely fit the bill!! Low but not dark lighting, and the bar had a TV - which they used to show a virtual fireplace. I had the sushi and wine, it was amazing!! The next time I visited was during lunch with co-workers. We all ordered a hibachi dish. I was very surprised when the hibachi was served with a large portion of fresh vegetables, proper amount of fried rice (1/2) cup, and a nice amount of protein. This is not your typical "hibachi- full of rice" meal. I left without feeling overstuffed! Everyone agreed it was a quality hibachi meal - as opposed to feeling like hibachi "fast food." My second visit we sat outside, and received immediate service. I will caution this is before the Pickled Onion opened next door - so not sure how the presence of a sports bar like Pickled Onion will change the outdoor ambiance of this restaurant. We live near the Lafayette village so we wanted to try out the sushi place for a friend's birthday party. We were seated right away and everything was set up and beautiful. We had two servers that were assisting the large party. However, everything was very disorganized. It took forever to get our order put in and we had to wait over 45 minutes to have it come out. I got fried rice and my wife got salad as side. The waiter brought my wife's food right away and my ramen 20 min that too after stepping to the front desk and asking her. Very uncomfortable situation with my wife waiting and my food arriving 20 min late. And the food, Fried rice and Ramen both are pretty flavorless and the Hibachi is 3.5/5. Me and my family have been here many times and it is always delicious! My personal favorite is the firework roll because I do not enjoy raw fish. I also love the Crab Rangoon's here because they seem to have the perfect mix of crab and cream cheese plus they come with a delicious sauce to dip them in. The decor inside is modern and clean, and is almost never busy ( the most I have seen is probably 5 groups of people) there is also an option to sit outside which is nice because the location of sushi one is right next to the big green area in laFayetteville village (idk if that is spelled right) I have not been here since COVID so I do not know if any changes have been made or what they are doing to stay safe. read more

I went here with a friend for dinner on a Saturday night. I was drawn to their drink specials - 6.95 menu martinis and cocktails. They also have buy one get one sushi rolls. I called ahead to ask about reservations and was told by a somewhat abrasive and unfriendly staff member they don't take reservations on Fridays (it was Saturday) and asked if they were currently busy and she said "uh, ya, you'll have to wait. Probably five minutes." I hung up and decided to go anyways. We were able to get seated fairly quickly and the service was pretty decent. The sushi was very good but the drinks were honestly terrible. I tried three different martinis - the lychee, pomegranate, and ordered a dirty martini with Tito's, extra olives extra dirty. The taste of the lychee and Pom were alright, but VERY weak and pretty sweet. Especially the pomegranate one - couldn't taste even the slightest bit of alcohol. My dirty martini was awful. It tasted like the forgot the olive juice entirely (especially disheartening when I said extra dirty) and added way too much vermouth. Not to mention after three martinis I barely felt a buzz, which is NOT usual. Overall, if I wanted only sushi I would consider going back, but if I ever wanted an alcoholic beverage I would definitely pass. There are too many other good restaurants in this area. read more
