Walking in, I was drawn to the cute decorations they have along the wall. Adorable lanterns hung from the wall above a bookshelf with the cutest decorations. Definitely the most instagram worthy spot in the store. Not only was the atmosphere adorable, but the drinks were just as aesthetically pleasing and tasty. I opted for the strawberry matcha latte with tapioca. My drink was prepared quickly and looked beautiful. I loved the contrasting layers of color between the green, white, and pink. Not only did this drink look good, but it tasted amazing as well. It was the perfect amount of sweet for me (75% sweetness) and the strawberry jelly/puree added a great fruity flavor and texture to the drink. I also got to try a sip of my friend's virgin sangria and it was delicious! It tasted like liquid sugary goodness! I definitely plan on getting that next time I come! Finally, I decided to check out this boba spot up North KC. I got the matcha latte with 50% sweetness level. It tasted great since the matcha was not overpowering and the sweetness was light. I would ordered this drink again. The milk tea was ordered with 50% sweetness level too. I felt it was still too sweet for my taste. Next time, I would order at 25% then it should be tasty. As I'm in Kansas City I am trying ALL of the boba spots in town and GoCha by FAR is the winner for the best place here. I've had bubble tea from cities like LA, NYC, DC & Philly... this is a front running place in KC for sure. I've been 'eh' about boba here in the midwest but GoCha definitely changed my opinion. With toppings, I was able to use a STUDENT DISCOUNT and got my 2 drinks for 7 BUCKS. That great price is UNHEARD of in my bubble tea lifetime. But the taste was sooooooo good. It was fresh and the perfect sweetness. They have some really cute unique drinks! I love the SERVICE because they were so accommodating to me! All their matcha latte drinks use dairy milk but the owner made a special non-dairy one for me (I'm lactose) and it still tasted really good! She also recommended either their avocado smoothie (uses real avocados) or the virgin sangria because it taste like sugarcane. I ordered the Virgin Sangria with aloe and it was so good and refreshing!! I loved it. The workers asked me when I took my first few sips did I like it, and they were so personable to me since I am from out of town. The owner, is a sweet vietnamese lady who appreciated my comments and tells me how she tries to do something different from other boba spots around. She is doing it right!!! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu but here are some of my favorites...The strawberry matcha latte, the avocado cream smoothie, and the virgin sangria. I absolutely love the strawberry matcha latte. I get it at 50% sweetness since the strawberry puree they put into it is already sweet. (A big plus about this place is that you can get your drink less/more sweet depending on your taste preference!) This is a milk tea, and unlike most milk tea which are a bit heavy, this drink is super light and refreshing. The avocado cream smoothie is the BEST avocado smoothie I have ever had. Trust me, get this. I have had my fair share of this type of smoothie from many different places and nothing comes close to this one. They top theirs with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, with a sprinkle of toasted coconut and almonds. Definitely an indulgence. Lastly, if you're not looking for something milky or creamy, then get the virgin sangria. It is a super refreshing fruit tea that they top with fresh fruit! I don't like giving my card information over the phone. Honestly shouldn't have them ask for card information over the phone due to a lot of fraud stuff going on. After dinner at Broken Rice last night I dropped by to try out their Boba. I got in 30 minutes before close & there was a group of 3 inside which they ordered 2 bobas. I'll start off with the service which was a little slow but I guess bearable since I wasn't in a rush for my drink. The gentleman at the counter was polite & helpful. I told him I like Honeydew which he said they had & the crystal pearl mango. They give you an option on the sweetness of your drink which I chose medium. My Honeydew mango boba is pretty comparable to the one at FatBee. Delicious & not so sweet which I don't mind it being sweet but just not last night. The decor was nice & bright. When I'm in the area again I would definitely come back for another Honeydew mango boba but more sweet. I would like to see if it would taste like how FatBee makes it. The price wasn't too bad either. $3.95 + $.65 for the crystal pearl mango. The shopping area has a nice variety of restaurants & stores to shop & eat at. Well it appears that tea is the new coffee and I'm ready to jump on the bandwagon. My first visit to GoCha was more of a fact finding mission. It seemed that the menu was relatively small, yet still a little intimidating for a novice that usually just picks a favorite fruit flavor when having a bubble tea. My first order was a Virgin Sangria made with Oolong tea. I picked a 50% sweetness level and never looked back while wishing this fruity and refreshing beverage was bottomless. My second trip I was a bit more adventurous and ordered a Watermelon flavored Jasmine Tea at 50% with a cheese mustache. A cheese mustache is even stranger than it sounds, It is a topping of a slightly salty and sour; frothy cream cheese. My first sip was of slight disgust, but as I learned to regulate the ratio of sweet fruity tea to creamy froth, it became increasingly wonderful. After 4 years of living in LA where arguably some of the best boba is, I would always dread coming back home because there would be an extreme lack of "the real stuff." I've been here about 3 times now , each visit has been great. Their menu is unique to any other tea Boba place I've been too. The combinations in flavors are unique but delicious. I've tried the firecrackers which is basically the Asian remix of the Mexican Mangonada that's made up of a mango smoothie with some chamoy dizzled in along with it toped off with mango chunks, Tajín and a tamarindo candy stick. After months of hearing about how GoCha Tea was apparently the best boba tea shop in the KC area, I decided to try it for myself. The drive to GoCha Tea was long and dreadful so I was really hoping that the drinks there would exceed my expectations. Sadly, GoCha Tea did anything but exceed my expectations. The small shop located in the Pagoda (the name of the strip mall) had super clean seatings/bathrooms and ornate decorations. However, amidst the renovated shop, the atmosphere was inhospitable. I walked in and was greeted with a "What do you want?" before I could even look at the menu or the cashier's face. I asked for a minute, and looked through the options and ordered the classic Milk Tea w/ Boba (standard 70% sweetness) and Classic Thai Tea w/Boba (100% sweetness). The prices were fairly cheap and the shop provided more than one size option. The drinks were made relatively quick and I was excited to try. When I took my first sip, my excitement was instantly replaced with perplexity. I questioned why the Milk Tea tasted more like milk than tea. The Milk Tea was also not as sweet as expected for standard sweetness. As for the 100% sweet Thai Tea, it was too sweet and I could not taste the actual Thai Tea flavor. Having tried boba places in San Francisco, Houston, and New York, I would say GoCha is pretty comparable. Pretty good selection of teas and toppings to choose from, including cheese mustache / foam. Of course the drinks are delicious, unique yet familiar. First off, walking into GoCha Tea makes me feel like I walked into a downtown urban loft. The decor is on point and it is always clean. The epoxied concrete floor shines and the bright green chairs accentuate the furniture well. This place is also quite large and perfect for group gatherings and work/studying. There are nifty outlets on the side of the benches that is perfect for charging your laptop. Now back to the beverages, which are the highlight of the visit to GoCha Tea. The large chalkboard menu is your first stop where you chose your drink. You then head to the register and have the ability to customize your drinks by choosing a level of sweetness and toppings (or droppings since they sink to the bottom?). I love that you are able to choose the sweetness level because more times than not, drinks are too sweet for me. I usually choose a 50% sweetness level but 30% is also a good choice if you like to taste the tea flavor in your drinks. The toppings choices are numerous but I highly suggest choosing boba if it is your first time experiencing GoCha tea. They have the perfectly boiled chewy tapioca pearls in the area. I have not yet been disappointed in their boba. If you're feeling adventurous, try their egg pudding which pairs well with their milk tea drinks. I also fancy the coffee jelly. A few recommendations: - House Milk Tea w/ boba: it is the drink that makes or breaks a boba business in my opinion.
