The hairstylist did not know what those were yet proceeded anyways to bleach my very dark black hair into WHITEblonde via bleach for over an hour. I didn't say anything because I haven't gotten any sort of bleach in years so I decided to trust the "professional", boy was that a mistake. After 3 hours I had silver gray strips and was asked if I liked it. I politely told her that I did not and it was not what I asked for and if she could make it ash brown. She proceeded to smile and stare at me like I was stupid and told me that the photo i showed her looked like my hair. It in fact did not. I again calmly explained to her for the 5th time I wanted my hair to be ash brown. This is a very specific and widely recognized color in the hair dye industry. I continued to explain what ash brown was, a light cool toned brown, kind of like milk tea. She then went to the back and put dye in my hair. I did not know what color it was but I was hoping it was the color I asked for. It was in fact not. I asked after she put it on and she told me it was medium blonde??? Cherry on top, she told me it was the same color she had in her hair!! Oh wow. I again did not say anything because I had been there for so long I just wanted to go home. She continued to say that what I asked for was not what I "truly wanted"and I didn't "know what I want" because she said I suit the warm tone better. I in fact look horrible in warm tones, I wear silver jewelry and am a deep winter complexion. I think she thinks I must look in warm tones because that's what she look better in I guess idk. As a person of color, do not come here, my Asian hair is now completely damaged and I spent $235 on fried hair that I am not happy with, wasting 3 1/2 hours of my time. I still left a decent tip and paid all that money but now regret being so polite about it. This is my first time writing a review ever but I am so upset, I had to say something atleast so others will not make the same mistake. I regret ever walking foot into this building.

I am a colorist who had to do her own color through Covid. My boyfriend thought it would make a nice anniversary gift to get my hair "color corrected" by calling and making an appointment for "just a few foils on the top". Mind you, I have the head of hair that people have said no. It's just too thick. Jay somehow ended up with me booked as his last client of the evening - he didn't fret whatsoever even tho both him and I (as a colorist) knew this was going to take some time! He never gave me an attitude about my hair being thick and doing a FULL HEAD OF HIGHLIGHTS plus whatever other magic he did. This is the ONE TIME I DID NOT have to worry and even tho it took quite some time, He never got an attitude, and he was thorough. I should've reviewed the first and second time I went in. However I did go back for a blowout and left with hair I am obsessed with - for the holiday weekend! So I will put pics of after the first session at the salon and then 2 days ago when I went in for a blowout! Thank you so much Jay and Lisa! I'm not sure if this was provided by the salon or the bride, but there was a table in the center of the salon which had bagels, muffins, juice, mimosas and water for us to enjoy while waiting. Since we couldn't all have appointments at once, it was nice to be able to have a little nosh. I believe there were two or three stylists working with our group. Cassie did my hair and did a great job. I knew I wanted some sort of flowy curls with half of my hair out of my face, but I left the rest up to Cassie's expertise. Cassie and a few other stylists strategized and then she got to work. It took a while to curl my hair but my hair is very thick and wavy so that's expected. She meticulously went through each section. I was very happy with the end result. I only wish a few more pins and spray had been used. I had to run back to the salon to pick up a friend a little after my appointment and another stylist was able to touch me up which helped the style last through most of the night. The whole party, especially the bride, looked gorgeous so I would certainly recommend Salon Concrete for your wedding or formal hair needs.

The left side of my hair was actually longer in the front than it was in the back, while the right side was significantly shorter in the front than in the back as it's supposed to be with face-framing. Backstory: I have been in Boston for a summer internship but came home to NJ for one weekend and decided to get my hair done here since my mom raves about Salon Concrete all the time. I noticed the unevenness when I got back to Boston and figured they wouldn't mind fixing it up a little for me when I got back...WRONG! I just called Salon Concrete, granted it's been a while since I figured it didn't matter when I call them because I won't be back until the end of August, to let them know about my hair and that I'd like to come back to get it fixed. The receptionist that I spoke to this time around was incredibly unpleasant and unfortunately I didn't get her name. I was informed that when I returned home from Boston they would not fix my hair but I could pay for another haircut since the grace period has ended. I understand that when I return from Boston a few weeks will have passed since my haircut, but the mistake will still be there! It would really only take them 5 minutes to fix it! I'm VERY disappointed with their customer service after my appointment. I will not be returning to pay another $70 for a quick fix that should not cost me anything because it should not have happened in the first place, I of course understand that people make mistakes and that is okay with me. I do not understand why Salon Concrete thinks it's okay to let there mistakes go unfixed. Aside from the fact that Salon Concrete will not fix their mistake, Kristen and Nina were both great. Nina did an awesome job with my color and aside from the one mistake, I'm loving my cut from Kristen. I simply cannot overlook the rude receptionist and the terrible customer service that followed my appointment.
