    Margarita and Blue Moon
    Mellanie A.

My boyfriend and I paid a spontaneous visit to Iron City Tavern and we had an overall good experience. I ordered a standard margarita as they don't offer a variety of flavored cocktails and my boyfriend opted for a Blue Moon. The appetizer combo that we ordered consisted of fried calamari, chicken tenders, fried zucchini, and mozzarella sticks however, we subbed out the zucchini for extra strips. We also ordered a side of their Homemade fried potatoes chips. Now granted, bar food is not reputable for being "out of this world" however the appetizer platter was as mediocre as can be; the calamari was a bit on the rubbery side and the chicken tenders had a lot of tendons. The fried potato chips on the other hand was the perfect snack to drunkenly munch on. All in all Iron City Tavern is a relaxed local bar with good service and a nice old school feel that I'd recommend for some drinks if you're in the area. You're probably better off grabbing a bite somewhere else though as their bar food is quite unmemorable for what it is.

My girlfriend is the Steelers fan and I was shocked we didn't come here sooner during our relationship. It's a cool place if you're a Pittsburgh fan. The burgers and chips are really good. It's a cash only place but the drinks are clutch and next time I go, I'm gonna try the IC Light and have a Rolling Rock one day. I'll definitely make a trip back. I was glad that my girlfriend could enjoy a game with Other Steelers fans and have a smile on her face. I wasn't too crazy about their mozzarella sticks and not a fan of crinkle cut fries but that's just my position. Very nice place and the bartenders are nice dames

Searching Google Maps for local food before going to the Sardine club. I'm glad it suggested this place. Came with a friend. I had a hamburger and fries, and she had a turkey burger and fries. We were both super happy with our meals. I'm a French fry addict and theirs were great. The bartender/person that served us was amusing, *no* sarcasm intended, and made the visit even better. I really liked the laid-back atmosphere and almost vintage pub vibe. My friend would like to add that the bathroom wasn't bad either. Soap, paper towels, hot fan hand dryer if that's your thing, toilet covers, and plenty of toilet paper. I can agree. LOL

Cozy, unassuming joint in San Pedro. I stopped here on the way back home from a late night at the nearby Providence Little Company of Mary medical center for a brew and a bite, and was pleasantly surprised. The exterior was interesting, almost steampunk. Walking in, there was a relatively small crowd of folks watching the Lakers game, and the ambience felt a bit like an "upscale" sports bar. Decidedly NOT a dive, thank goodness. The bartender, who I didn't get the name of, treated me very kindly. She was the one who took my call-ahead food order, and she gave me a rundown of the beer selection as I sat down. Beers are cold and affordable. Seating is comfortable. TVs both look and sound clear. Fair warning: if your tab is below a certain dollar amount, the policy is payment by cash only. There is an ATM on premises to accommodate. What took me by surprise was the quality of the food: - 14oz ribeye, a la carte - Tender enough to cut with my bare finger, seasoned adequately with butter, garlic, and S&P. Above average steak quality, even for gastropub cuisine. - Pierogis - Potato filling, fried with butter and onions, served with some vegetables that were prepared very well (tender carrots and broc). - Lemon pepper buffalo wings - The star of the show. Fried, ample sauce coverage, comes with ranch cups. I'm a big buffalo wing guy from way back, and the addition of lemon juice and chunks of lemon into the mildly spicy buffalo sauce is a game changer. Would definitely come again.

Neighborhood dive bar. It's a local hang out; longshoreman ...bikers....etc Food: The food is pretty much what you expect. This isn't fine dining, but the food is solid and the value is there. Beer: Good selection of beer.805 on tap Ambiance: Typical darkened interior with aged furniture. Games are on the tv. In days of yore, it's be filled with cigarette smoke. Tip: CASH ONLY.

Our beertender, Cleveland, was friendly and helpful without larger group. We noticed there was also a singles night event happening simultaneously and neither party seemed to encroach on the other (again, ample space). I ordered the Seventh Heaven (Hefeweizen) and 7th & Centre (Hazy IPA) - each delivered good flavor profiles, but I'm always partial to a good hazy with citrus. Definitely worth another trip!

Instead of apologizing or taking the time to verify the payment properly, I was treated like I was trying to avoid paying. I decided to give this place a second chance, and unbelievably, the exact same thing happened again. This time, my partner showed the bank transaction proving the payment had been processed, yet he and his brother were still treated with suspicion and singled out. After experiencing this twice, it's hard not to feel like we were being unfairly targeted. The way we were treated was disrespectful, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. It left us feeling profiled rather than treated like valued customers. We will never be coming back, and I cannot recommend this brewery to anyone expecting respectful or professional service. If you have specific details about what was said or done that made you believe the treatment was racially motivated, including those facts in your review can make it more persuasive and credible. On Halloween people are suppose to dress up as a vampire, Cleopatra- Queen of the Nile- Barney or a…read moredepiction of LA's confusing traffic signs or something else entirely. That is custom, that is tradition and for most it meant to inject fun into life. In my opinion, what maximizes the fun is when a person quips or puns using their custom as fodder for the joke. For instance, on one Halloween. I called my insurance and the person on the phone told me that she was dressed as cat. At the end of the conversation, I was meant to rate her and I said do not worry your service was "purrr-fect." How long have you been waiting to say that joke? She replied. Since the moment she told me she was cat. So when I played and partied with sailors and marines I expected for similar jokes to be made since, in a way, they were in uniform/customs. Like when, me and another civilian played pool with two Sailors they introduced themselves as Diane and Scott, not Officer Sampson and Officer Aguilera. Then we just played a regular game of pool. They did not say things like, prepare for the onslaught of seafaring sailors. So I did not get a chance to say I will sink your battleship as I perfectly aligned my eight ball to a corner pocket. Basically, they were civilians in uniform they were not sailors playing pool. Makes sense, they were sailors on leave so their sea related puns must have stayed on board their ship. Regardless, the party experience with sailors and marines was fire in the hole. And this bar is one of the central places where the sailor party can be felt because San Pedro welcomes them once a year during Fleet Week. It is common sense but Sailors and Marines spend their time locked up, in a ship, or in base, or somewhere else. So when they step to land, the goal must be clear: party with restrained abandon. And this hope encompasses all around, so it is hard to not become a party animal. Imagine that they are the moon, and all around are party-wolves. When they rise, so do the party time howls. I can see this bar becoming a draw for partiers for a weekend. Some people may never come to Crimsin for their cocktails but I hope they come here for the sailors and marines. During this past Fleet Week, I bought a beer for a Marine named Thomas. He also did not say my name is Hightower or Olson or MacDonald when I asked for his name. He still accepted the beer and said thank you for the support. So I may not march in a parade supporting Marines, but still Thomas made me feel like paying for a Marine's drink was showing support for the freedoms that the armed warriors of this country provide. Yes, I know I did not run the SSO but still I was thanked for my support for a Marine. In the grand scheme of things, I accept his gratitude and trust that he meant his words. On a previous Fleet Week, me and a sailor both ordered from a bartender. The bartender ignored me and tended to the sailor. Makes sense, he was the guest of honor. And the sailor treated my drink too. Mad respect. And I hope it is the high seas that taught him to show respect to another for not all wars are won with missiles and bayonets. So the moment not only affords the right to party but it also affords the right to witness the evolution of military culture and how it has arrived to hold people with good values, a good heart, and compassion in their actions.

Not because it was featured on a news segment, or something similar, but because I saw it on an episode of Monk. It was used as a background prop. Funny what writing helps you remember, and hopefully what you remember is good stuff. Before I stepped into this bar, I expected it to be a Diver bar, in the grittiest sense, but I was wrong, it is a Dive bar in the most exciting of ways: It is a collection of tchotchkes (a fancy word for trinkets) that when admired as a whole and then independently give this place a whimsical personality. Imagine having a friend that when invited to a pool party wears a bikini with a fun print--- like cherries or flamingos, and is always down for a shot and playful mayhem. Being around this type of personality amps up the party soul of a moment because their vibe is that of a buzz-nurturer. Meaning that when I was in the bar, and all it has to offer, made me want to have a good time, regardless of what I carried in from the outside. The place gives immediate Tiki Bar vibes but does not carry the moment to full fruition. For example, in my pictures I show curtains with Tiki Idols, and a light fixture adorn with its own hula skirt but the Tiki motif does not transport one to a Luau where dancers sway as they wait for a pig to finish roasting. Instead, the Tiki vibes are sharply contrasted with posters and other keepsakes that are both aspiration and life lessons. For instance, one reminds us to leave your drama outside. Another hanging placard lists advisories that (straight) men should adhere when hitting on women. One of these is the fact that some women's sexual preference is NO. Another poster explains what happens when girls drink too much. One of the 10 outcomes is that women confuse the kitchen floor for their mattress when laying down. Like I said, all of these small and bigger touches combine to give this place a personality that draws one to have a good time. For me, there were two standout items in the place- 1) a jukebox and a 2) pool table. I was with three people that played pool better than me. One of them explained the purpose of a chalk mound. One is suppose to rub the place between their thumb and index finger to get chalk right in there. Then rub the chalk on the stick. This will create less friction which will help you shoot better. I did all that. This moment also allowed me and another member of my group to have a lot of hard wood jokes-- what are you going to do, we were having a good time at this place, and these jokes felt right. The jukebox was also free. I played Ariana Grande's version of Popular from Wicked and I felt the song. I was warbling loudly, and off key, and dancing because I was feeling the tune and the drinks. At the end, some of the people in the bar clapped and hollered. I went to put in another song I was stopped, the regulars were watching football on a Sunday, go figure. That is the thing about this bar, it is a regular's bar. People knew each other, people knew I was the first timer. Like when I spoke, two or three people answered my question. When I was looking for the key a customer directed me to it. So this place is definitely a place where regulars are at. And if you know anything about dive bar culture, regulars who know each other make a community. So you will need to navigate these dynamics if you attend. For instance, one of my friends was in the bathroom, doing the business of two. A regular opened the door and my friend was like, I am here, closed the door. The regular did not close the door, instead he made a joke about leaving the door just a bit open, while being a bro about it. I was horrified just being a witness. But between bar flies these type of jokes might be understood as joyful. But it would take me an alternate life to find humor in potty politics. I was introduced to the White Tea shot and it has become my new shot so this place left a mark on my taste buds. The shot at the end had this strong green tea taste. The prices were right too! I can't wait to go here again, when the party vibe calls me forth! Oh and it is cash only, unless you spend 40 and above then it is card appropriate.
