This spot has a small town feel and I'm here for it. The gal behind the bar was incredibly sweet (I forgot her name unfortunately). I ordered the buffalo wings; he got the yuengling. Someone at the bar mentioned I should get the sauce on the side because they end up soggy. I had no issues with them personally. They're not breaded wings which was a nice change. *I believe cornstarch is involved. The buffalo isn't spicy, it's buttery. There's room at the bar, a side bar, and they have half-circle booths that would be perfect for groups. Bonus points for the hospitality. =) read more

My boyfriend and I paid a spontaneous visit to Iron City Tavern and we had an overall good experience. I ordered a standard margarita as they don't offer a variety of flavored cocktails and my boyfriend opted for a Blue Moon. The appetizer combo that we ordered consisted of fried calamari, chicken tenders, fried zucchini, and mozzarella sticks however, we subbed out the zucchini for extra strips. We also ordered a side of their Homemade fried potatoes chips. Now granted, bar food is not reputable for being "out of this world" however the appetizer platter was as mediocre as can be; the calamari was a bit on the rubbery side and the chicken tenders had a lot of tendons. The fried potato chips on the other hand was the perfect snack to drunkenly munch on. All in all Iron City Tavern is a relaxed local bar with good service and a nice old school feel that I'd recommend for some drinks if you're in the area. You're probably better off grabbing a bite somewhere else though as their bar food is quite unmemorable for what it is. read more

My girlfriend is the Steelers fan and I was shocked we didn't come here sooner during our relationship. It's a cool place if you're a Pittsburgh fan. The burgers and chips are really good. It's a cash only place but the drinks are clutch and next time I go, I'm gonna try the IC Light and have a Rolling Rock one day. I'll definitely make a trip back. I was glad that my girlfriend could enjoy a game with Other Steelers fans and have a smile on her face. Searching Google Maps for local food before going to the Sardine club. I'm glad it suggested this place. Came with a friend. I had a hamburger and fries, and she had a turkey burger and fries. We were both super happy with our meals. I'm a French fry addict and theirs were great. The bartender/person that served us was amusing, *no* sarcasm intended, and made the visit even better. I really liked the laid-back atmosphere and almost vintage pub vibe. My friend would like to add that the bathroom wasn't bad either. Cozy, unassuming joint in San Pedro. I stopped here on the way back home from a late night at the nearby Providence Little Company of Mary medical center for a brew and a bite, and was pleasantly surprised. The exterior was interesting, almost steampunk. Walking in, there was a relatively small crowd of folks watching the Lakers game, and the ambience felt a bit like an "upscale" sports bar. Decidedly NOT a dive, thank goodness. The bartender, who I didn't get the name of, treated me very kindly. She was the one who took my call-ahead food order, and she gave me a rundown of the beer selection as I sat down. Beers are cold and affordable. Seating is comfortable. TVs both look and sound clear. Fair warning: if your tab is below a certain dollar amount, the policy is payment by cash only. There is an ATM on premises to accommodate. What took me by surprise was the quality of the food: - 14oz ribeye, a la carte - Tender enough to cut with my bare finger, seasoned adequately with butter, garlic, and S&P. Above average steak quality, even for gastropub cuisine. - Pierogis - Potato filling, fried with butter and onions, served with some vegetables that were prepared very well (tender carrots and broc). - Lemon pepper buffalo wings - The star of the show. Fried, ample sauce coverage, comes with ranch cups. The establishment is in a quiet neighborhood, parking can be a problem but you will be able to figure it out with street parking just be cautious. The bar seating was pretty packed and got most of the attention. There was white light decorations throughout the restaurant I liked the ambiance overall. The food came out fairly fast with only one server on the floor, very clean establishment & swift at cleaning up tables after patrons left. I had the fish & chips the tartar sauce was good although the fish could be crisper it was a good lunch. Along with that sliders & wings were ordered both were good. Customer service was not the best, asked what beers were on tap I asked for a Stella, then a modelo & she stated no Mexican beers are tap & it just seemed like she didn't want to serve us nor be attentive but she did her job. Quite literally, a hidden gem of a bar/restaurant. Perfect low key place omg. Love the ambient lighting, it's almost relaxing and relieving walking into this environment after being a part of fleet week. My boyfriend and I ordered the calamari (amazing) as an appetizer, the burgers and sweet potato fries were bomb to say the least. I have now been here four times. The food is consistently yummy :-) finally a good chili size :-) We also had the calamari appetizer.It had a really crispy tempura style batter that was absolutely out of this world. This was the first time I sat in the dining room. And it was really cool. Warning! We used to Love Iron City. The food was great and we Loved Steve and Pistol and Crystal. We've had trouble in the past with the waitress Trixie. As matter of fact we stopped going there many years because of her! She has a really bad attitude and talks down to her customers!! Tonight was no exception!!! The first thing my husband and me and friend did was order drinks. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary. Trixie said "oh come on", do you really want one this time of night"? My husband said "Why is it too much work?? She just gave him a pleading look! He said ok, just give me a Vodka and soda. Then we ordered our food. I ordered a turkey sandwich and home made potato chips! When she brought the chips they were disgusting!! Everything else was fine. The chips were so oily they weren't eatable. When we called her over to complain, she said the chips were perfect that she ate some off my plate before she brought them in!! Did she wash her hands, did she eat off my husband and friends plate??? We called Steve over and told him what happened! he had the gall to tell me to calm down she was only doing her job!! Is it her job to argue with her customer and eat off of my plate?? Look out for Trixie!!! She should never serve the public with her attitude and eating off of customers plates!!! I mostly come to drink here and have had the Mofo Burger twice. This place is a study in contradictions. Allow me to explain. First, when you walk in it's pretty dark and it will take a moment for your eyes to adjust. The interior is like that of an old school bar from the 60's. So by first impressions, you'd think this place is a bud-light, coors, miller-light kind of establishment. Wrong. They have a variety of IPAs, APAs such as Lagunitas Citrusinensis and dark beers (e.g., Founders Breakfast Stout and Anchor Porter). I've been told by a reputable source that they have about 22 different beer offerings. During happy hour (4-7), they have drink specials and some appetizers are half off. So during happy hour I can have a pint of craft beer for 6 bucks... a screaming good deal. The only food I've had here is the Mofo Burger which I've had two times (does not include fries). This is an excellent burger and at $8, an excellent value. It comes with bacon, sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo (see photo). Next, the owner is from outside of Pittsburgh so this is a hard core Steeler's bar with lots of TVs. For any Steerler's game, this place is packed. If the Steeler's are your team then this is your tribe. Also, if Penn State is your college team, you'll find a home here to watch those games. The spirit of Joe Paterno lives on in this bar. Finally, I've found the staff to be quite friendly and inviting. There are a ton of locals who are regulars here but I've had no problems getting to know them. Finally, finally.... I went to Iron City initially out of convenience as they as directly across the alley from me but have continued to go based on the quality of the food, drink and service. I have had wonderful interactions with the bartenders and servers, particularly Elise, Pistol & Trixie. Despite being busy, they don't rush me to make a decision (not my strong suit ) and always know my drink order (nothing to brag about ). It is the only bar/restaurant I have ever gone to by myself knowing I am among friends. The food is diverse and includes but is not limited to or typical "bar food"... something for everyone. They not only prepare an unseasoned chicken breast for my service dog, they cut it into bite size pieces for her and are extremely welcoming. read more

A tough review to write. The place is my kind of joint....dark, dank, and full of personality. My wife and I just wanted to watch Saturday college football for a few hours (12:30 ish to 3:30ish). We found this place on Yelp. So the good, drinks and food is very inexpensive. We had chicken wings (not-spicy, chili sauce) and fried zucchini strips. Both were outstanding. Couldn't have been happier with the food. Drinks, I had beer, Bud Light bottles...$4.00, my wife had cocktails...very generous pour and reasonably priced. Food, prices, great. Service...odd. The bartender brought us whatever we asked for...she just never offered anything or took a proactive approach to offering us additional drinks. Instead, she went to a corner booth and sat and talked to other employees or ate her lunch. Whatever. It's just that my wife and I would have kept drinking if given the chance....we just weren't offered any additional drinks. What was OVERLY OBVIOUS is that this is a local bar. If you are a local, they doted on you. She kept bringing them refills and beer replacements without any of them even asking. It was as if we were invisible. I get that, I just am not really fond of it when I am on the outside looking in. There was a guy there that I would assume was the owner, he was about the same; He served and took care of the regulars, but ignored us newcomers. There were very few people there, maybe a dozen, and he spoke to every single person except my wife and I. He looked at us several times. never offered us another drink, never spoke to us. To sum up...probably an awesome local place, so if you plan on drinking in San Pedro regularly, I would highly recommend it. If you are not from San Pedro, it's an okay place to stop in, the food and drinks are great, just don't expect any attention, refills, words actually spoken to you, or good service.
