This holiday season doesn't feel the same due to COVID-19. Luckily, there is the Light Show at Goebbert's Farm in Pingree Grove which is the perfect solution to ring in the holiday cheer despite the pandemic. The Light Show is a drive thru venue outdoors so there is little risk involved. You can tell that a lot of time and attention was spent putting the lights up. The lights are synced with holiday music which really enhances the experience. It's a good blend of old classics and some new holiday music from Pentatonics and Panic at the Disco - there's even some dub step mixed in. For $15, the whole ride was almost 20 minutes from beginning to end and everyone enjoyed it especially the kids. Take note, you must buy your tickets online ahead of time and you could still purchase them through January 3rd. My friend and I spent less time at Goebbert's than we did getting there. Absolutely no precautions are being taken for Covid-19. Masks are not enforced, nor is social distancing. Besides the $22 outrageous entrance fee, very poor layout and insanely overpriced food/drink I was SO SAD to see beautiful exotic animals trapped in super small dirty pens with not enough room and insane crowds touching them and petting them. Let me tell you - it's obvious the animals are in distress and miserable. This is animal abuse & if you look them up, a bear cub died there in 2015. Appears to be what was a nice family business turned into a very greedy and dirty business. read more

We went here with my grandkids and they loved it! There was so much to do, we didn't have time for everything. The entry fee is $15 per person (2 and under free). Almost everything is included. You pay extra for pony or camel rides. The kids loved feeding the giraffe and camels. The corn pit was also a big hit. Picture a playground with 12 inches of corn kernels and lots of tractors, shovels and funnels. We took a hay ride and rode the train. The haunted house is just scary enough for a 5 year old. The 2 year old was okay with it as long as she was held. There are lots of baby animals including chicks and piglets. There is a pumpkin-eating robotic dinosaur the kids loved. A huge tire mountain filled with sand and trucks was also a hit. There are lots of wooden trains, busses, cars and houses for the kids to play in and on. We had sausage and peppers and roasted corn from a stand for lunch. Both were good. The apple cider donuts were so good (and peanut free). We sat inside the large greenhouse eating area. It had picnic tables and was super clean. The attention to detail was awesome. Very family friendly and affordable. Best "pumpkin patch" we've ever been to. read more

We went to check out Goebbert's Fall Light Show after seeing a few people post some videos on social media. It looked like a lot of fun! This is the first year that Goebberts is presenting the show. The show itself was fun and cute. The music was perfectly timed with the lights and they played some classic Halloween songs the whole family can enjoy. We drove through the show in the comfort of our own car. You can tell they are using Christmas lights with a Halloween spin because we were staring at snowflakes with spiders on them and Trees with stars on top, resembling a Christmas tree but with Halloween colors. Some feedback that I think Goebberts should think about for future light shows: the entire drive through was maybe 10 minutes. I'm assuming Goebberts did not know if the turn out would be popular, so they kept it smaller. But we drove a half hour to see it, and left feeling like we wanted more. They are advertising that they will be doing a Christmas holiday light show this year as well and I can only hope they expand it. Also, it was $20 a car. Again, for 10 minutes, WAY overpriced. We live this place. Go during a weekday if you're able to. It gets busy on the weekends. There are so many activities for little kids. It will keep them active and happy all day. I saw that they only have 3 stars. Most of the negative reviews are people complaining about masks or not liking that there are exotic animals there. The Goebbert family has always supported the community and they host family events all year. 5 stars. We have never had a bad experience there. read more

My 13 and 8 year old really enjoyed. Old school feel. Country experience. My only tip is to get your tickets early because they sold out twice before we were finally able to score tickets. I was told to come back around Christmas for the light exhibition. Lots of fun for the kids. read more

On this Thanksgiving Day, I'm Thankful for many things. One in particular is the great folks at Goebbert's Pingree. Jake and the entire team are fantastic, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A few weeks back I went there on a mission to help my daughter finish a school botany project. My daughter was in the hospital but needed a few tree leave to finish her project. My initial review got deleted because it didn't have enough "detail" about my experience. Goebbert's farm is a fun place for families to visit. Pumpkins, exotic animals, etc. However, if you don't support animal neglect and cruelty, then I'd suggest finding somewhere else. Nobody is watching the animals and meanwhile children are throwing food at them. It's saddening to see. This place has all kinds of fun attractions for kids with the slides, the jumping pillow, the haunted house and the train ride. HOWEVER, I had several issues with this place. They have animals. They have a lone giraffe, camels that are saddled and forced to walk in a circle for money. They have little ponies that spent the day chained to a metal post that demanded they walk in a circle for a fee with a rider. They had a building with way too many animals in it, most of which are not local. All of these animals were stuck with cement floors in tight/confined pens. Cows, kangaroos, various deer like animals, goats, and other similar animals on cement floors all day. This deeply bothered me. This tells me the animals are here to make money and nothing else. They are not here to educate you about their species and the way they should be treated, they are here for the wow factor and to turn a profit. The kids learn they are their for entertainment and for rides. This is not the way children should learn about animals. They also have no water bottle stations. This of course forces you to buy bottled water from the over priced store/food area. And with all of these bottle water purchases, you would think the least they would do is recycle...nope, no recycling here. Finally, this is during the time of COVID, the governor has mandated indoor masks. The people serving food were not masked and the individuals preparing the food behind the corner were also unmasked. Please not this was inside a building, not an outside stand. They state on their website that the have hand sanitizer throughout the farm. There were a couple of pumps..I saw one by the merry go round and one other by the food. However all of the stations by all of the attractions that the kids would put their hands on were empty and have been for quite some time...not even an empty bag of sanitizer in the container. Fun for kids, but teaching them the wrong thing. Animals are treated poorly and there to make them money and not educate the public. We will not be returning. read more

This is my favorite pumpkin patch! Plenty of activities for the kids, they even have a small bar for the parents! Drinks are over priced which is probably my only complaint lol I love that this place is so big and is never packed with people. They added a light show this year which was pretty cool! My husband and 4 yr old loved it. Remember to pick up some apple cider donuts before you go! They are truly amazing We loved the Halloween light show way more then the Christmas light show! The pumpkin farm is lovely but the lines are ridiculous! Over an hour for each thing we did! An hour for a donut?!?! This place is $20 each to basically stand in lines until your kids melt down and need to leave. Pros: It brings families of different generations together. I'm giving my experience at this place 3 stars for the hay ride to get to the apple orchard (the fruits didn't look good though), watching the pumpkin cannon balls, and the family-friendly atmosphere. Cons: Although it's nice to see wild safari animals, it seems that they're not tended to properly especially since they're kept in small cages, also a giraffe should not be in a farm. Two wild boar showed signs of dehydration, and not to mention, the zebras! Not sure how they ended up in Pingree Grove but they sure looked miserable. We skipped the camel ride after spending close to $$ at this point. The admission price might seem overpriced, esp. during the weekend. read more

Kids would, of course, absolutely love this place but as it turns out, it's great for grown-ups too. I came here this weekend with a group of girlfriends and we all had a fantastic time. I'd expected the place to be packed on the last weekend before Halloween but we came on a cold, windy Sunday afternoon and it wasn't all that crowded. After one hour drive from the north side we arrived in Hampshire and easily found parking in the parking lot. Our first stop after paying our $7 admission was the mechanical pumpkin eating dinosaur, which performs hourly on weekends. The pumpkin eating dinosaur was every bit as awesome as I'd dreamed. We all declared it worth the price of admission alone. We also checked out the corn maze, which was more challenging (and muddier, and more boring) than we'd expected and the haunted house (which employed 3D glasses and paint and was far weirder and cooler than we'd expected). Next on the list were the various animal areas. We saw some extremely aggressive goats (watch your back if you decide to purchase goat treats from the vending machines), sheep, lots of birds, and an adorable rabbit enclosure called "Bunny Town." We also caught the very end of a pig race (pigs are faster than I'd ever imagined) and stopped by to see the camel and pony ride areas ($4 each). By this point we were freezing and starving, so we decided to take a break and grab some snacks. I had apple cider donuts and hot apple cider. I have never had an apple cider donut before but my God, were they amazing. I was also impressed that the apple cider appeared to be honest to goodness cider with spices and all and not reconstituted packaged stuff. Prices for snacks were pretty reasonable given that Goebbert's basically has a captive audience for food. The only available indoor dining area is a greenhouse which had been overtaken by Radio Disney. It was very loud, but the kids seemed to be having a blast. Being child free, we ate as quickly as we could and fled. Overall the patch was really well tended, clean and had lots of handwashing facilities, which I appreciated after petting goats and sheep. We were all impressed by how nice all of the staff seemed, even the teenagers slinging food in the cafe. It was a fantastic day and a good value, despite the less than ideal weather. Super disappointed in Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch - Pingree Grove. I definitely don't recommend if you are trying to follow cdc guidelines. Staff not wearing masks in the concessions. Staff not wearing masks around the park.....patrons not wearing masks at all....even in areas that have signage posted that it is required. We called to verify capacity twice and also verified at the door. We left because we felt super uncomfortable, there is no way that they were underselling tickets. Upon leaving I mentioned it to the cashier who told us because its outdoors masks aren't required. The staff and owners need serious re education on cdc guidelines, like reading their own website for example. read more

Went today with the family for a nice day of apple picking . We noticed that numerous people did not have their masks on . We went up to a family and kindly asked them to put on their masks . They said no , started swearing at us and the kid through a rock at us . What made this even more disappointing was that when we went to report it to an employee they said " there was nothing they could do ". $15 person for a pumpkin patch.... Seriously... That of course was my initial response as we approached the entrance. Once inside, i was actually pretty impressed with how large it was, how well maintained everything seemed, and how much stuff this place has to offer. We begin exploring everything, our two year old absolutely loved the stationary wooden trucks and boats, the only problem is, so do the other hundred kids... Being that she is so young, she isn't able to navigate everything as well as some of the bigger kids. Some of the older kids probably don't belong on them, but that isn't my choice so we moved on, The corn kernel table was a hit, the huge corn kernel play area was way too crowded and full of kids not being monitored, so we avoided that completely. Now to the one thing we were most looking forward to, the animals. They had such a huge variety of exotic animals, you can spend 50 cents to feed them what couldn't have been more than a tablespoon of grain from a dispenser, or spend $4 on a few carrot sticks. We opted out of both as there were so many people feeding them they certainly didn't need more from us. The Indoor animal barn had some VERY cool exotic animals, but it had to be the saddest group of animal enclosures I've ever seen. I presume all of the animals are simply on lease from other places, and their permanent homes aren't what we saw, but it was still hard to see. Some enclosures contained multiple very large animals in the tiniest enclosures. I hated seeing this almost as much as i did the Pig Races. This is what ruined my entire experience. I hate sounding so negative, but this portion of the Goebbert's was appalling to me. Yes, i am a vegetarian. Yes that probably influences it for me, but naming a bunch of animals after the meat they get turned into is disgusting. Its not enough that you're forcing them to "race" you have to also give them those disgusting names... That was in horrible taste in my opinion. At this point i'm ready to leave. We stayed for the anticlimactic Dino eating a pumpkin, our daughter absolutely loved the sand put area with the trucks, and the little wood houses. We sampled the Donuts and they weren't fresh at all, i am not sure if they're meant to be. We are just used to our local Orchard that makes them fresh. Overall i am glad we came because we have been hearing everyone talk about it. We are very fortunate to have two amazing local places that offer as much fun for our daughter at a fraction of the cost. I used to love Goebberts but this is probably the last year that we are going there. We've gone every year for the past 8 years or so. It used to be laid out well, with the pumpkin eating dino - hayrides - petting zoo - you know, all the typical stuff that you find at a pumpkin patch. This year, they jacked up all the prices (except the admission, at $8 a pop still), and shrunk the place. They built in a train, complete with tracks (which looks like the old Kiddieland train) that goes all the way around the area. Te removed some of the games towards the North end. Admission for three: $24.00 (they do not discount for young kids) Lunch (2 pulled pork sandwiches and a kids meal): $20 Food for the animals if you choose to buy it: $3 a pop This did not include any pony or camel rides (both cost money), or train ride ($), or pumpkins - nearly $50 for a place where you can't kill more than 2 hours. So if money isn't an object -- by all means go. But for us, next year -- it's just not worth the money. I was so incredibly disappointed. read more

I love coming here every year! There's so much to do and the staff is friendly. I like this location the most because it has a small "brewery" and you can drink some pumpkin spice beer and it's truly deeelish! (I can totally get patch crazzyyyy with that beer - hard to hold back drinking it its THAT good, but I'm also basic) Definitely a good place for kids too! So many rides like the hay ride, train ride, pony rides along with multiple petting zoos and a huge bird cage and a haunted house. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the corn maze because it was tiny and uneventful, but it would still be decent enough for kids. If you come here make sure you visit the corn house! All the charm is gone to the point that I am on Yelp. Goebbert's has been our fall tradition for ten years but this past weekend was probably our last. We've always been impressed by their ability to expand just enough to make each year a little different, even last year, despite COVID, but this year the whole experience was pretty disappointing. There were entirely too many people. Long waits for everything, completely inadequate seating, disgusting tables covered in food and flies. We expect the animal area to smell but this year it was overwhelmingly bad. I only made it in that space far enough to see two camels stuck in a pen smaller than my kid's bedroom. Borderline Tiger King bad. A lot of these issues could be alleviated with crowd control. Goebberts' ancient ticketing system gives them no way to know how many people to expect. They are long past the need to move ticketing completely online and cap attendance. The two stars are for the apple cider donuts. read more

My family and I went here last weekend and had a great time. The activities they have are fun for the kids and also creative. The last attraction we entered was the animal display, which is why I gave this place 1 star. I can see having cows, pigs, chickens and horses but the exotic animals they have on display made me sad. I don't see the point in having them at a pumpkin patch. I am concerned about their living conditions, their cages are small and it seems they are always inside. When I entered this building it was like being at a zoo, without appropriate living conditions for the animals. There are many other reviews that state the same concern for the animals. It's a shame, I enjoyed this pumpkin patch but won't be back because of this. I just can't fund an establishment that I feel is cruel to animals. read more

The way they treat and keep their animals (exotic animals by the way which is a whole other issue) is not humane!!!!! The animals look sick and malnourished. Their cages and pens which they shouldn't be in to begin with are WAY too small for them. Close down the animal exhibit!! There should not be exotic animals in here, especially in a small space! Kangaroos, zebras, wild cats, ostriches, big animals, and a giraffe all in tiny cages. We went right at 9 am and it was a colder day, but the place was not overcrowded and 85-90% of adults and older children were wearing masks, as were all staff. Staff were super friendly; particularly the train "conductor" and the lady at the carousel. This place is really thoughtfully planned with so much to do for kids of all ages and we had a great time. I withhold one star because it was hard to see some of the exotic animals in their too small pens. I hope the owners will consider forgoing them in future years. We've visited the S Barrington location and while that is great I think we love this location better! So much bigger and more exciting to explore, the layout seems better and for adults they have a brewery!! They have apple picking as well and a little mini train (included in admission) families can ride on which our little one absolutely loved! Pricing seems fair for all that it offers and if you think about all the work and people it takes to run this place...during the week it's cheaper than weekends and kids 2 and under are free! We ended up getting the seasons pass which has been worth it as this is a great fall activity (though pass is only valid during the week). read more

This place is pretty awesome for the money you pay. 16.99 for entrance and it includes so many attractions. You can literally spend the whole day here. We went mainly for the apple picking but for mid October there were none left, so we skipped it and did the corn maze and pumpkin picking. The corn maze was so cool for a minute I thought I might spend most of the day finding my way out lol and that made more exiting. They have a bunch of small eating options. I thought their hot apple cider was so good as week those donuts. We still were able to get a bag of apples on our way out.
