After taking the car to my regular mechanic, I learned that besides body work, the frame had been bent on the car and also needed to be adjusted. I dropped off the car at Downtown Auto Body and got an estimate right on the spot. I worked with Joey who was very easy to talk to about the car issues and what could be done. Over the next few days I waited very nervously while the car was being worked on. I have had a few bad experiences with mechanics over charging, throwing last minute charges in and overall taking advantage of me because I am a woman. When I called to check on things and re-confirm the pricing, Joey thoroughly explained everything that was being done to the car and why it was being done, as well as give me a solid confirmed estimate on the charges. He left me feeling very confident that they were doing a great job on all of the repairs on the car. I felt really relieved after talking to him on the phone and was happy he took the time to explain everything. The day I picked up the car I was really impressed with the great job that they had done. Though they needed to keep the car a few days longer on the frame rack due to the frame being bent so far, they managed to get it back on track, made all of the repairs and even cleaned up some scrapes on the bumper for no extra charge. Best thing was that the costs came to nearly $1000 cheaper than I and my boyfriend had initially assumed it would cost. I waited a few weeks to write this review to test how well the repairs held up and they are all holding steady with issues. I highly recommend Downtown Auto Body to anyone needing body work done. There were two areas of concern on the car, one needed significant attention later and the other he FIXED for me on the spot in 4 minutes! The best part was that he gave me an honest review of the car's exterior. He pointed out that the car had been repainted ( that fact was not disclosed by CarFax or Carvana ). He took the time to show me overspray, failed clear coat application, imperfections in paint application like dust and dimples, how the paint was applied incompletely and destroyed seals. He also show me how all the door moldings were pulled back and were not reattached professionally and would cause water damage, noise, and improper/uneven closing. He roughly estimated $3-4k worth of re-do work, not for him or his business but for me to consider while finalizing my thoughts on the purchase. Based on what PJ showed and shared with me and the trust he quickly earned with me with his knowledge and honesty, I rejected that car. Long story, short version: you can trust these guys to be honest, helpful and to care about quality. They are not in business just to make a buck but to build relationships that matter. He has fixed my 2015 truck, that I'm very attached to, given advice on it, done extensive troubleshooting and found a problem instead of charged me 5K.
