However, as time goes on service and customer care seems to be declining. I'm in my mid 60s and have white hair, but the cashiers never offered the senior citizen discount unless you ask for it. I had good Birria tacos one time. The next time I went, they dipped them in consume, but didn't sear them off on the flat top so they were crispy so I ended up eating mush. That was my last review and I still gave him three stars for that mediocre attempt at a taco. I've been going to 407 BBQ for many years and I'm well aware of his sign that says if you don't specify, you get what you get no returns lean or fatty. Well I did specify, but the hostess didn't write it down on my order. OK you know what I am disappointed as all hell but that's my mistake since I didn't look at the receipt. Fine, but if you look at the receipt where I ordered a pound of brisket to go that clearly says lean, and it's a hell of a lot closer to fatty than lean. Look at my pictures below. That will tell you everything you need. My wife ordered the burger, which is normally very good and one of the more difficult choices that I have to make in life barbecue or burger. But this time it seems as though they put garlic salt on the burger or some sort of garlic flavoring which overpowers their burger we've never had to specify no garlic before, but maybe something has changed that I'm not aware of. Maybe he felt they needed to be more mainstream? Who knows. With the proliferation of really stellar barbecue now available around DFW I can no longer recommend 407. Maybe he's got too many young kids maybe I'm not aware and he sold out. Maybe he's gone corporate. I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe there's something going on in his life I'm not aware of and he's preoccupied with that. But I think I'm done with 407. He could've easily responded to my yelp review on the mediocre taco disaster, but he didn't. He didn't attempt to make it right. I published my receipt and he can go back in his system and see who I am. He's got my full name and phone number, but I doubt he'll contact me. It's a shame when he was working out of a small wooden shack, there seemed to be a lot more care about Customer Service and Support. There's always my standby Angelo's downtown Fort Worth, North Texas smoke out near Decatur, which is actually closer to me than 407 but has limited hours. Hutchins in Trophy Club and Daynes's barbecue in Aledo. I wish Brian and the 407 crew all the best. Hopefully they get things back

Then head inside to collect your sides, of which there are many. Then complete your purchase with the cashier at the end of the line. Tonight I tried a little of everything: the brisket - full of smoky flavor and super tender, yet it tended to crumble rather than being able to slice it; the pulled pork - juicy and tender; the jalapeño cheddar sausage - full of flavor and zip, IMO the star of the show; the turkey - dust-dry and flavorless. This one was a disappointment, however, when he was assembly my order I noticed that the Carver did locate a butt end in which he sliced the rest of the meat from. I'm sure the fresh off the smoker, huge breast that just got put down on the warmer would've been just fine in juicy flavor. They should have found some other use for that dry butt end of turkey instead of serving it to me because I took only one bite and threw the rest away. For sides, I had the jalapeño sweet corn casserole (outstanding!). Coleslaw (fresh) and complimentary pinto beans. These beans were excellent and they are cooked with what I'm assuming are the leftover scraps of meat; what a flavorful side item and they are free! I love their regular sauce, didn't care for the flavor their spicy sauce. Sauces are available on a warmer which further adds to the flavor. I did get a piece of whiskey pie to -go. Their pie slices are small, which was fortunate, in this case, because I didn't find it to be very good. Overall, fantastic food, young servers and staff were respectful and helpful. Nice air-conditioned, indoor dining as well as outdoor dining tables.

We were meeting some friends for a late lunch and needed somewhere in the area and decided to give this place a shot, When we walked in (2:00 on a Tuesday) we were the only ones there. We were happily greeted and invited to take our time deciding. I had the sliced brisket sandwich & hubby had the Lil JJ's sandwich which was chopped brisket & sausage - plus an order of fries. My brisket sandwich was PACKED with juicy, perfectly cooked slices - hubby's was overflowing with meat - he says it was the best sandwich he's had in a long time! The sauce is available in little containers in the dining room & was slightly sweet (I used TWO on my sandwich because it was so good). Even the buns got some love with a little buttery toasting. Our friends got combo plates with 1/2 chicken, brisket, sausage, & turkey with sides of beans & potatoe salad and they were very impressed as well. Skeeter came out a couple of times to talk to us and make sure we were happy. Friendly folks & great food?? We weren't just happy, we were ecstatic

THIS place contends with the best of them! One thing we noted is that some places grill one meat well, but the rest are just okay. For example, good ribs and so-so brisket. That's not the case here! Everything we tried was incredibly tender! It's still tender despite warming it up the next day! There are ample sides. We tried macaroni and cheese and fried okra. Both were good. There was ample seating, extra parking, and the staff made us feel like we were in a family member's backyard. They were friendly and helpful. Please try Lil JJ's!

The brisket was good, and the ribs were phenomenal. But the best part was the customer service. After hearing I was from out of town, and seeing I had brisket and ribs on my plate, the guy taking my payment said I should try the sausage, so he gave me a plate of sausage on the house. Great service! Then when I was leaving, I said another thank you, and a young lady asked me if I wanted a tour of the smokers and kitchen! So cool! She, Kamy, turned out to be one of the owners. Had a great tour, met the pit boss, and when I told her how much I enjoyed the ribs, she said they make their own rub, and would I like a sample to take home? Of course I said yes, thinking she'd give me a little sample, but she brought out a big ziplock bag ... probably 2 lbs of rub. Amazing! They made such an impression, I went back for lunch the next day as Monday is the day they have burnt ends ... and their maple-chipotle sauce on them made them amazing! So ... there are a lot of great BBQ joints in Dallas, but they've definitely made me a fan! Thank you Kamy and the LaFaver family!
