This place is a dude's club. I went during a World Cup game and I stood at the bar for almost 10 minutes while both bartenders ignored me. I had my cash in hand and ready to order. They served several men instead of me while I waited. I walked away and then they immediately served the man who was standing behind me. It felt sexist and weird. Perfect for viewing soccer and really the only soccer pub in Portland. They have several televisions inside and outside to view the matches. It is our neighborhood go to watch soccer or any sports for that matter. The bar staff are very polite and recently due to the World Cup they have been slammed and they still remain cool, calm, and collective. The food is just regular bar food nothing special and they have a limited menu for the World Cup. They used to have a really good chef with an excellent menu. I long for days of his menu. read more

I had the nacho bowl with barbacoa and it was amply sized and absolutely delicious. Paired with a cold Oakshire Amber Ale, it hit the spot with just the right malty richness to balance the spice. They've also got a refrigerated cooler stocked with canned options if you want something quick and easy. We happened to come on bingo night (first Thursday of every month), which is free to play and a total blast. The energy was great, and I even won a prize! It's the kind of fun, low-key event that makes you want to come back with friends again. Service was excellent--bartenders were super friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. They've now gotten greedy with the World Cup apparently. They're now charging $10 bucks just to be able to watch a World Cup game there, before you even buy anything. Not worth it, Been to better bars all over the world, never heard of a bar that charges one to watch a soccer game before you even buy their food and beer! That's one of the more greedy things I've seen a business do!!! You shouldn't have to pay when you're going to buy their food or beer! There's plenty of bars in town you can watch soccer free and actually have a better experience. The TVs inside are old and unclear, like from 10 years ago or something. They have newer TVs outside ironically, so the people outside actually have better pictures. But people smoke outside right at the tables exposing other people to secondary smoke which should be illegal, but apparently not at this place! And people also smoke marijuana right outside, so when you're seated on the patio you'll be exposed to smoke and who knows what other substances in a city full of them! So, good luck with that! It's overcrowded on popular World Cup games, you won't have anywhere to seat inside or barely anywhere to stand outside! You'll be standing on a closed-off street with a crowd of people smoking cigarettes, marijuana etc in chaos. And ordering any food or drink in this chaos of course becomes an adventure in itself! They have a beer tent outside for crowded games! I've seen even an adidas tent there with raffles apparently! So it seems even the bigger businesses are getting in on the act with the crowds there for the bigger games! I wouldn't recommend this place! I've been avoiding it due to the crowds, you just can't see the games well, and it's so chaotic! Don't even think about the safety issues!! There's probably been safety issues there!! I saw a police car and officer there when I went this last time, which makes sense, with the crowding and all the people drinking, smoking stuff etc! It sounds like something may have happened there, a fight or something, which wouldn't be surprising with the crowding and chaos there!! I feel lucky I've been avoiding it! This is the classic situation to avoid! With such crowds, there's bound to be somebody with a gun or something and attacking somebody else cause theyve been "disrespected" yara yara! Not safe at all!!! it's not a good place to watch a game with the overcrowding and the entrance fee. Not worth it! Wouldn't pay even 5 bucks!! Was wondering whether to spend my time trying to go there for a lesser popular game, but with the charge, it's an easy decision! Definitely wouldn't even try this place for any big game!! Gol is a football lover's paradise. They cater to all professional leagues and the international game (men and women's game) with their multiple screens inside and outside. The service is impeccable as all the bartenders go above and beyond their duties. The bar food on offer is very good and at a reasonable price. I'm especially happy with the drinks stock as they offer my favourite beer from back home, Boddingtons "The Cream of Manchester". It's a can with a widget which makes for a lovely lager in the pint glass. I also will occasionally have a cider from the $7 drinks special list. I highly recommend this establishment to soccer people from near and far. Gol is definitely a proper footy pub! read more

Yes, there was a game at 8am on a sleepy Sunday, so perhaps a sports bar isn't ready to serve coffee and breakfast items. Coffee was being brewed at a slow pace, coinciding with the underwhelming game that we watched. Avocado toast: good and expected, fruit cup consisted of 3 wedges of oranges. The breakfast sandwich was great, served on toast and not on an English Muffin as advertised. That's ok with me as it would have been my preference. Potatoes were crispy and delicious. The eggs benedict was average with a side of potatoes that were not cooked at all. How, when one dish had perfectly cooked potatoes and the others were raw. Our server was so nice but was overwhelmed with customers. No one was served knives, maybe because we were outside? Either way, we managed our way through our meals with a fork. The breakfast burrito seemed to be hit at the table. All in all, this is a wonderful establishment for viewing of games, having some cocktails, and gathering with friends. Look, the bar has a good ambiance if you're going to catch a big game. But the service was absolutely atrocious. We ordered two breakfast burritos and 2 drinks. We get our drinks and wait outside, the incompetent lady brings us our first burrito and despite us telling her were still waiting for our second one she just smiled and takes our numbertop anyways. 30 minutes go by and she is only tending the other tables while ignoring us. When I go ask for the second burrito she avoids any contact and the bartender has to hound her down and ask where did the second burrito go. Had she taken accountability for her mistake it would've been fine but she didn't. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for good service or people who actually care about their jobs. read more

It's so good that pic says it all - topped with so much tender and tasty meat. Hubby had the chili, which was really good, and we also had the chicken strip that had a nice spice to them. Back when it was called 442 and had different ownership. I was expecting a similar vibe since I thought this location still caters to soccer fans. Boy was I disappointed. I walked up to the bar exited to catch the Mexico Vs Canada game. The outside patio had trivia night going on and was pretty full. So I decided to go onside where it was empty. However, they han no soccer playing on any tv. Instead they had the presidential debate playing on all the tvs by the bar with sound. Ok no biggie, maybe they can play it on the smaller TV. When I asked, I was pretty much told I can watch it outside where the game was being shown. Outside where they had trivia going on, which pretty much made the game unwatchable. I regret giving my business to this place. I will never be returning here in the future. read more

I chanced into GOL last week and I am so glad I did. The amazing menu features some incredible Peruvian-inspired dishes including "paella''. The selection is impressive for what is basically a sports bar. I was stunned. I had the LOMO SALTADO SANDWICH and OMG it was fantastic. The combination of ingredients and the preparation created an unforgettable experience. I have to go back and have that sandwich again. Then I plan to go back and try some of the other dishes. This place was awesome! Came here on a Wednesday night to watch a soccer game and enjoy delicious Peruvian food with some friends. We had a reservation for one of their outdoor tables and felt pretty safe throughout the night. Employees are masked and very friendly. We got two of their sample platters and enjoyed everything. We also got another side of their empanadas and salchipapa. My friends enjoyed their drinks, and it was overall a great time. I'm super impressed with how the new owners have kept the culture and heart of this sports bar alive. It was devastating to hear that 4-4-2 was closing, then being taken over by new owners. But these folks have done a tremendous job making my favorite soccer bar just as wonderful as ever. Been coming here almost daily this summer to watch the Euros and I am NOT disappointed. We had a few empanadas, fruit cups and bagels while watching the games and was pleasantly surprised. This place isn't really known for its food, but the fact that it was tasty was definitely a perk. Whether it's a Timbers mid-week match or the Euro championship final, I've never regretted making this pub my spot to catch a game. He seemed well intoxicated and was making people uncomfortable, even watched two other people leave and state it was because of him. Not a large establishment but one that has a good draft beer selection and bottles and cans for consumption. Tom the bartender was excellent as he frequently checked in for food and drink. Interesting place - Peruvian football (soccer) bar. We went to watch a Timbers game. Draft beer selection was just ok for me - heavy on the IPAs, very slim on anything else. The food was pretty good and very different, since it's Peruvian. The empanadas were the best thing we had! The calamari was just ok and the teqenas (spelling?) were good. They had just one poor guy running the whole place and he was obviously stressed about it working his ass off. read more
